There wasn't time for Sprucepaw to feel pride in her attack landing, when Spiderpaw was yet again attacking. She flinched back, and felt the wind rush by as she barely avoiding the battering blows. It was far too close for comfort. There had to be a way for her to get off the back page. A distraction might work, allow her a moment of reprieve before going back in for an attack.
Before she could try anything, Spiderpaw was on her again. Literally this time, as they tumbled to the ground. Sprucepaw let out a yelp. This was bad bad bad. She tried to use the momentum of the pinning maneuver to her advantage and shake off Spiderpaw, adding in a few kicks with her back paws for good measure. She didn't even need to flip the pinning attack, she just needed the other apprentice to get
off, at least enough for her to wriggle out.
