Heroneye watched the two apprentices intently. First, Sprucepaw dashed forward, looking like she wanted to get the first hit against Spiderpaw. However, the gray apprentice was faster and was able to launch herself over the other's head, striking out at Sprucepaw with two hind paws. Heroneye couldn't help feeling a momentary wave of pride at Spiderpaw's apparent agility, but she quickly brushed it aside; whatever skills the apprentice had gained were her own.

More important was the faux battle taking place before her eyes. She was cursious to see how Sprucepaw would react. With Spiderpaw at a temporary advantage, this would be a good opportunity for Sprucepaw to prove she could hold her own in a battle--or not. She had lost her balance from Spiderpaw's attack but wasted no time in getting back at her paws. Heroneye watched with interest as Sprucepaw rushed back at Spiderpaw, and the fight began again.
