"Nah, I'm gonna reprimand you, but first I'm gonna be uhmm. Honest." Preaching herself blue in the face to Jaggedpaw had forced the realization upon Whiterabbit that she is being counterproductive in her unfairness. Operating against her own lesson. And to be quite honest, a part of her has always known that. That she is an irresponsible, self-serving hypocrite. But these traits, ones she had previously been ashamed enough of to hide but not enough to change, are not ones that she wants to risk teaching to anyone else. Even if she's only the last mentor Cardinalpaw gets, the one to help pull him over the finish line, she wants to think she can still do right by him. That means being honest.

"It is...so annoying, that I'm this late to game. That is, to learning what went on between you 'nd Jaggedpaw. In your defense, what happened sounds stupid. But that you couldn't handle it without losing your cool is, in my opinion, even stupider." She explains, forcing herself to talk slowly and carefully. "But I think I might not be...being fair. And I am trying to be fair. Truth is, I don't like feeling like I've been embarrassed and what happened a little while ago between the two of you? That it might reflect poorly on me?? Humiliating. So I need you to smile reeeeal wide. That way I'll feel too bad to get mean about this." She pauses, then offers a cheeky little smile of her own: "Try thinkin' about that Cedarpaw you've been hovering around so much, if it helps. But not so hard that you can't focus, 'kay?"
