ShadowClan Enforcer

Rookfire was first to arrive, padding up to Newtbelly. He was quite tall, wasn't he? He hadn't really noticed before. It wasn't as drastic, when he'd seen him fight the absolute brute that was Owlthroat, and when he stood alongside any of the large cats that seemed to fill ShadowClan. He also supposed he'd never held a proper conversation with the tom. Unless you can count receiving healing as a conversation, which he wouldn't. Especially considering it was just a whole lot of Newtbelly sitting awkwardly, and over thinking the owl situation - he'd barely even been present, mentally.
Motivated? Was that meant to be a kind of taunt? He wasn't really sure, but he could pick up the intended humour. so he'd try his best to return it. "Felling hungry, more like," the tom responded, with a shrug, tail wafting against the dusty ground. His humour had always been a little dry, he remembered how it kept falling flat with his new apprentices. He wasn't sure he and Rookfire could get along or not. There was no good reason for him to dislike Rookfire, and he knew it. But, when it came to the reverse, he had no idea. He'd like to hope he appeared a strong enough - a good enough - enforcer to him, but he couldn't gauge it. He was still assuming that he had been Rookfire's first choice for his enforcer challenge - whilst the reason for Owlthroat's participation continued to eluded him. Maybe he wanted a fairer fight, with a stronger cat? He had to try not to grimace. Embarrassing, wasn't it? That Newtbelly wasn't stronger by now? His anxious mind was quelled though, as Silentpaw appeared. That was two. What about the others?
His head swung around but - ah, perhaps they'd been called away by someone else? He couldn't see them any more. "Looks like the other two aren't showing." He shrugged. "Let's get out of here." And with that, he went walking on.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It didn't take long to find a nice area, shrouded in conifers. They weren't as menacing as the trees of the Dawning Woods, plush they created far more shade. The calico stretched his limbs out, quite happy to finally be out and about. "Glad you've still got time for hunting, Silentpaw." He commented. It was just like old times, wasn't it? Bar Rookfire being here, of course. They were near a small puddle, hopefully an easy meeting point to remember. "Let's meet back here." He nodded to it. He had faith that these two wouldn't go missing like those on the last hunt he tried to lead.
As usual, he was hoping to find some frogs and toads. That was less likely here though, than in the mire - which, sure, he could've visited, but he'd just been there with Owlthroat, the other day. He supposed variety was important, or something like that. The tom lifted his nose to the air, breathing it in over his scent glands. Looks like they'd come at the right time, prey smelt plentiful. Squirrel, just up ahead. He slipped into the shadows, of which there were plenty, and crept along. One of the little grey creatures was foraging, just a little ways up the trunk of a tree. So, Newtbelly bundled up his haunches, and watched. It was doing something with the bark, peeling at it perhaps? How strange. Taking advantage of it's distracted state, he flew through the air, forepaw thudding into it. He'd put it out of its misery quickly. It wasn't fair, to make it suffer. He liked to hope it didn't realise what was happening, that it still didn't have a thought on its mind other than foraging. Weird animals.

He made a small hole to store the carcass, and placed it in gently. Thanks for your life, little weirdo. Now you're the... Bark? The nuts? Well, you'll keep the clan fed, that's an important job. Nose already to the ground, having placed his catch down, he sniffed in hopes of finding a fresh trail. Hm. Mice, lots of mice, with trails going every which way. He picked out the strongest smelling one, and began to follow it. He padded along, ducking under a couple branches, till the scent was strong as can be. Oh, the little creature was stood right out there. Did it not feel fear? Claws prickled, as he watched. Well, it'd be cat food in a few seconds. He lept, quickly biting its neck as he landed. One more. Good. He silently thanked it for its life as he carried it back to his store. He'd follow that scent trail again. Seemed like there were more around.

He ducked under the pines, back to where he'd been before. The scent was still strong. A mouse den, perhaps? Strange place for them to make one, considering the lack of undergrowth. They wouldn't last long. He crept along, through the shadows, till he either saw another, or caught a smell so strong that it must be right next to him. There! It was digging through the pin needles, probably looking for a bite to eat. It'd have more luck in the Dawning Woods, or the Evergreen Grotto. Honestly, what was with these animals? He jumped, teeth quickly fastening on its neck. That was three. He'd check in on the others and see if they were still hunting, but if they were ready to go, he'd gladly lead them back.

Though, he might come back here later. He liked the shade.
