rookfire sighed, immediately regretting having even asked magpiecove and she was promptly filed as 'annoying brat' in his mind again.
"its okay mushroompaw" he waved off and instead of replying to either of the two cats again rookfire just led them into the territory in silence. mushroompaw was nice enough but perhaps rookfire had messed up big time by picking out magpiecove as the third cat on his patrol. he was already tempted to confirm it as such but only time would tell.

as soon as they arrived rookfire waved his tail, signalling to the others to stop. "both of you get marigold, i'll handle the chervil. stick together." before either could complain, the enforcer was gone, having slipped into the dense undergrowth in search of chervil.

before long, rookfire had trailed a small stream with a couple of tail lengths of distance, and finally came across a patch of chervil. without much effort, the enforcer dislodged the roots from within the ground and freed a good mawful of plants.
