Emberpaw wasn't entirely sure why he was here, and it seemed neither was anyone else. He'd heard Houndpaw and Weepingpaw pestering Hawkbite, Weepingpaw calling him Papabite--which had Emberpaw utterly bewildered--and decided to follow when Hawkbite dragged them to Mother's den for clarification. Call it curiosity, call it whatever you like. He'd never considered Hawkbite his father, hell he'd barely even noticed him and Mistlewhisker were together. But Mother's response to the question was guaranteed to be interesting either way. Plus if Houndpaw and Weepingpaw were going anywhere, Emberpaw went with them. Them's there's the rules.

As expected, Mother's response was simple and to the point. Emberpaw didn't fully understand wanting to share cats as mates, but he didn't really understand the concept of "mates" at all. A mate just seemed like another thing to manage, and Emberpaw had plenty of those. They were called siblings. But maybe he was just young, maybe he needed time to mature.

Or maybe mates were icky and that was that.

"Makes sense to me." Emberpaw meowed, looking to their brothers.
