Fallenspirit turned to look at the queen, a deep blue covering his eyes, replacing the usual iciness that they held. Maybe she was right. Maybe it was fear gripping him. The pressure he had put on himself hadn't been good at all.

He hadn't had someone care for him since their death. All the condolences in the world weren't enough then, but now, her caring for him seemed to calm him down. "T-thank y-ou," the tom stuttered, his voice still shaky. It was near impossible for him to mention his parents without breaking down. The angry shell he had always kept on himself had seemed to not exist around Nettlesnout. Instead, it was the shattered young cat that he had been in the days of their death.

The tom's head hung low, ragged breathing from broken cries. His gaze turned to the calico's deep saddened eyes. Fallenspirit brushed his nose across the queens cheek. "Hey, I'll be okay," he mewed quietly. He couldn't even be sure of that himself, but he didn't want the queen to feel his own pain.
