"Every cat starts somewhere! Believe it or not, your papa was a clutz when he first started learning!" He meowed with a hearty laugh.
With that said, Acornfall gave Emberpaw an encouraging wink and a smile, his apprentice was doing well. He'll make an excellent mentor when it's his turn. For now, Acornfall demonstrated the crouch again. "Breath into the stance. It'll feel weird at first and that's fine, but with practice you'll get a feel for it and it'll be like second nature." He hoped this would help, Cloverkit's main enemy was herself. But he didn't want to say something about it to her, it might be better left for a conversation later.
"Now, yer just kits right now. So some things you simply can't do, your bodies just haven't grown enough." He mewed, his gentle smile turning to a grin. "But that doesn't mean there aren't some things you can't learn. And if an intruder ever comes to the nursery, you'll be able to defend yourselves." His eyes sparkled with pride, as he nodded encouragingly. "If you're opponent is bigger than you, focus on what you can reach. The legs." He demonstrated by facing away from them, crouching down into his stance, and while crouched swiped out a paw. As though attempting to hook his claws around an invisible enemy's leg.
He turned to Emberpaw and blinked, now standing before him as though he were an attacking cat. His stance offensive rather than defensive. "Emberpaw, show 'em what I'm talkin' about!" He instructed, waving his tail with a challenge as he grinned at his apprentice.

Cloverkit felt her father lick her head, feeling a bit better as she stayed close to her sister. Was she really not bad? But what if others thought she was cocky? What if her siblings went ahead and made her look bad...what if her failing made them look bad!? Cloverkit worried internally as she watched her father demonstrate. Shyly trying it out beside her sister. Gosh! Stupid shaking tail!
Emberpaw heard his mentors challenge. A grin appearing on the Tom's maw. "Tch" he purred. Crouching down the best he could, he was not wobbly, calm. Emberpaw was well at his crouch as he had practiced it a lot. Emberpaw couldn't resist teasing his mentor by waving his tail. He made sure no kit was near him, gently using his tail to move Cloverkit back so he didn't hit her. Cloverkit pinning her ears nervously, the poor kitten thinking about how dumb she must've looked. Emberpaw continued by demonstrating the swipe under his mentors legs, hopefully hitting and tripping him, though when Emberpaw swung he didn't seem to put much force behind it as he didn't want the kits to see there father being knocked over. Emberpaw's eyes widened as he tripped. He gave a mrrow of suprise. Cloverkit squeaking as Emberpaw came towards her, Emberpaw not wanting to land on the kit. Threw himself to the side, landing with a thud. Emberpaw gave a heave as he sat up. Shaking out his pelt as he looked at Cloverkit, "You ok Cloverkit!? I'm sorry! I tripped and almost fell...." Emberpaw looked worredly at the kit.
Cloverkits eyes remained wide. It was all her fault he fell! She was in the way! Stupid Cloverkit! "I-im ok.....im...i-im ok are you? I'm s-sorry" Cloverkit fretted. Her small ears pinning, though they flicked up in suprise as Emberpaw gently brushed his tail under her chin, purring with lots of friendliness. "Its ok! I'm ok dont worry, if your ok then everything's ok!" Emberpaw purred. Cloverkit couldn't hide her small bit of excitement. Mr. Ember was so nice! He didn't even blame her? Oh no.....was he being fake? But...his eyes look so kind it convinced the kit slightly more.
