Cottonpaw couldn’t help but giggle at Shrikepaw’s enthusiasm for everything under the sun. He idly wished he could have as much passion for hunting as she did. Everything would be a whole lot easier if he didn’t feel an impending sense of guilt upon taking the life of a living being. But he wasn’t about to burden her with that.

No matter how hard he tried to put on that brave face he knew that his injury was going to affect him forever. He hoped not physically, but he knew it would be lodged in his brain for a very very long time.
