Irisdream nodded in agreement with a warm smile.
"Well of course we will," she purred teasingly,
"I'm on your patrol." Though she was somewhat kidding, the silvery feline was never much for arrogance, she wasn't necessarily joking. Her talents certainly lay with hunting after all, but she was also taking the opportunity to...flirt? Was this flirting? She brushed her plumed tail under Duskleaf's nose as she started to head out to the territory, pausing to look over her shoulder with a coy smile as she waited for Duskleaf to take the lead. Once they got started of course, she'd focus on their assigned task.
As they approached, she noticed Duskleaf drop off to focus on the apprentice that joined them, smiling with a soft purr. She'd let him handle that, Duskleaf was a good teacher. He seemed like a born teacher, made her wonder briefly how'd he be as a father...but she quickly shook that thought from her mind. Focus, Iris! Loud, rather raucous, splashing stole her attention. Snapped her attention back instinctively. Splashing like only a fish could make...rather large fish actually. As she approached, she was awestruck by the phenomena before her: salmon! As many salmon as stars that dot Silverpelt! And they were...jumping? Moving against the current!
Irisdream swallowed, trying to prevent her mouth from watering. This would make for easy, nutritious, hunting. Salmon was certainly a favorite of her's after all, not just for the flavor (and frankly, their pretty colors), but also for how eating them helped her fur and skin feel soft, plush, and healthy.
"Darling," she called over her shoulder,
"it appears that Copperpaw may not need to be an expert to catch these!" She mewed with an excited trill in her voice. And it seemed quite true. With very little effort, Irisdream was able dart her claws out, batting a salmon to the shore where she safely killed it and set it aside.
She repeated this motion a few more times before she had a healthy haul, she may even need help carrying these back! They were rather heavy as they were in good health. Irisdream picked up three by the base of their tails, nodding to herself.
Okay, I can do two more and put them across my back. She turned back, surprised to see the salmon were...still at it. As though driven by an instinct stronger than sensing danger. She scooped out two more and killed them with ease, stepping away from the riverbank to make room for Copperpaw and Duskleaf if they decided to join her in this would-be banquet.
