Mushroomkit stepped out of the nursery as Dawnstar's voice rang through the camp. With a skip in her step, she bounded from the threshold and took a moment to just watch the cats around her gathering up for a meeting. It has been lonely the past days and nights in the nursery den. Her mama being gone and no visits from Tinywolf, Mushroomkit was so happy to finally be able to share a den with Adderpaw again! Speaking of.

The russet feline made her way to the apprentice den, ducking her head into the space and looking around for her best friend, "Adderpaw! Adderpaw! There's a meeting! I think it'll be my apprentice ceremony this moon!" Waiting for her friend's appearance, the kitten hopped back to give the other kitten space to leave the den before looking back towards the meeting.

"Come on! Me and Dovekit are so excited, Dove is already up there with the rest of the group!"

She placed another daisy into the edge of the new moss nest which was lined with an assortment of flowers. White flowers dotted the nest, joined by the occasional purple or orange flower. Sadly Adderpaw had not found any of her signature red flowers, nor were there many colorful flowers to find so early in new leaf, while on her patrol but she still thought the nest looked pretty. The braided tabby took a step back and tilted her head as she inspected the now decorated nest beside hers. Hmm no it still didn't look quite as she had hoped, not perfect. She begane rearranging the flowers as well as making sure the moss was still fluffy and new looking. Once more taking a step back the apprentice scrutinized her work. Maybe the nests were too close, it did look kind of odd having two nests so isolated from everyone else's. Oh no, she wouldn't want others to consider Mushroomkit to be weird! Adderpaw was reminded of how pinekit had referred to her and Mushroom as weirdos. She didn't want others to think of her friend that way. Also what if mushroomkit didn't want to have their nests next to each other anymore? She had suggested that around a moon ago, her opinion might've changed! Oh and what is mushroomkit didn't like the color purple or even flowers! What if she hated the nest and then never wanted to be friends with Adderpaw anymore-

The apprentice practically jumped out of her skin when the voice suddenly interrupted her train of thought. The braided tabby fluffed up her fur and stood In front of the nest hiding from the russet kit's view. Was the ceremony starting already? But Adderpaw wasn't done! The gift was ready yet- it wasn't perfect! The apprentice cast a glance back at the two nests, specifically the new one intended to be a welcome gift for the russet kit, soon to be apprentice, who was standing in the dens entrance. It didn't look perfect and the thought gnawed at the back of her mind but she knew she couldn't sit here wasting her time trying to fix it and miss mushroomkit’s ceremony completely. She'd just run back here when mushroom is meeting a mentor and put the last few things in place. Yeah. She could do that.

Breathing out with a sigh, Adderpaw approached the soon to be apprentice and ushered her out making sure she didn't catch sight of her gift until after the ceremony was complete. well you better join your sister up there too or risk missing your ceremony like I did is what she would've said if she could form the right words but ever since she stopped performing her ritual her words had come out more of a stutter or they just didn't sound right! Pinekit was right though, tapping your paw a certain number of times before speaking was just weird, no one else did it so she shouldn't either. ”mhm, I-I’ll watch” those were the only words she managed to say before the words caught in her throat and died.

The moment they were in the clearing, her pale eyes scanned over every clanmate insight already gathered beneath the grimpeak. She felt that faint itch beneath skin and the thousand unseeing eyes and too loud whispers hit her all at once. At least now she knew no one would be looking at her- as long as she acted normal and didn't do anything weird or embarrassing- because she wasn't going to be the one having a ceremony. All eyes would be focused on the kits becoming apprentices and the apprentices becoming warriors. She hesitated before weaving her way through the crowd to the front just this time she didn't walk all the way to the grimpeak and instead sat amongst the cats at the front. She looked back to make sure mushroom was still with her. She didn't want her friend to have to endure the shame of missing your apprentice ceremony, however she knew she didn't have to worry too much about that. Mushroom didn't seem like the type to be afraid of standing In front of a crowd. Not like her at least. That was something Adderpaw both admired and envied.
