Burningpaw

His tail flicked back and forth wildly. "Yeah!!! My very first patrol!!!" He cheered, when Owlpaw asked him. "I CAN BARELY BELIEVE IT but im gonna be a good apprentice so im STAYING CALM!!!" He pranced onward, head bobbing up and down cheerfully. There were so many new things. New scents... but familiar ones too. Under the tangle of earthy mud and sprouting greenery, he could detect the comforting smell of MOUSE. HECK YEAH WATCH THIS. He paused the last second before he began tracking it. Oh. Wait he wasn't supposed to be able to smell. Well, uhm, guess what he has really good hearing because of the violets, too!! Yeah. He kept that explanation in the back of his head incase anyone on the patrol asked him, and began to hunt his prey.

The mouse was surprisingly far away. It was huge. The plumpest in all the land, from the looks of it. Burningpaw grinned to himself. He was going TO CATCH IT and then HE'D BE LIKE A HERO!!!!! But beneath his paws, in the shadows of the undergrowth, a rebellion brewed. Something dark brooded a plan to take down what Burningpaw was desirous of. That something...

... being A TWIG. (dun dun DUUUUNNNNNNN)

It snapped, brittle and loud beneath his paws. The mouse froze. But its cryostasis lasted only for a moment, before it zoomed, as fast as lightning mcqueen, away, away, far out of sight.

Burningpaw sighed. THAT went well. He knew it might be a tad bit too early to get agitated, but his tail lashed with annoyance despite that. Was hunting always like this? He pondered related questions as he made his way back to the group. "I-It got away..." Burningpaw said once he could see the others, stopping his voice from hiccuping. "Honestly, it wa-!" Its wings were silent, completely and utterly soundless up until the moment a shadow engulfed him and talons gripped his shoulders. A single one of the horned owl's wings were as big as Burningpaw himself. He yelped in fright as suddenly, he was jerked up into the air, and more and more as the owl beat its wings. He'd never seen an owl, no, but if he had he would've known that this one was huge.

Fear gripped him nearly as tight as the birds talons, his wide eyes watching the ground below shrink and shrink. His brain was unable to think, too focused on the current situation. Had to try to stay alive. The trees of Sunset Grove were about as large as most of his forearm, if he held it out to compare. The wind rushed past him, trying to rip him out of the owl's grasp, which would only serve to doom him to fall to the ground below. This type of fear felt a bit like a twisted version of exhilaration, but it made his lungs feel smaller. More compressed. But he still screamed, shrieked as loud as he could. Nobody could help him, but he didn't care.

Eventually, the owl faltered. It made his heart skip a beat, the violent shift downwards, the ground coming closer for just a moment. The owl wasn't used to carrying prey this large. It drooped lower, and lower, but it was still all too high for Burningpaw's liking when it couldn't hold on any longer, and released its hold on him.

He plummeted. Everything sped up, but at the same time slowed down. The fear was nearly choking him, coating him in a cold sweat. His eyes felt heavy for some reason, and dizziness pounded his skull, as though it was trying to crack it in half. His tail righted him automatically, but as he reached the ground what felt like only half a second later, he heard a horrible crack sound coming from his front left paw. The pain came half a second later, as the rest of his body came slamming down on the ground. It seared all over him, though the feeling felt as though it was going to make his left ankle explode right off. The pain gripped his heart, and wouldn't let go. The sounds around him felt too loud, but they were slowly dimming, along with all else he could sense around him. He thought he saw the shaded figure of the owl slowly descending towards him, but it faded. Everything faded. His consciousness reached a full stop.

[ @Tallstar - Vinesmoke!! @Blaaze - Owlpaw!!

Its here!!!! So the owl going to hone in on Burningpaw, and hes been dropped near its nest, which for plot convenience Owlpaw and Vinesmoke followed the owl flyin off with Burningpaw but lost him, though from where they wound up they can track him by scent. The owl will be too focused on Burningpaw, so they get a surprise attack, which is the main factor of them winning da fight.

Hopefully this is alright!!! VM me if not please and i'll come up with something else! <3333 ]
