rookfire could sense some sort of disappointment in the younger tom, most likely at the fact that rook was unable to offer him a poppy alternative that could last them over the colder part of the season cycle. and while rookfire had a vast knowledge of different herbs, he was sort of disappointed himself. well, more disapproving probably. he'd have to bug mossfreckle about that later, though he held very little hope that the younger medic could give him any more insight than the past moons of his independent herb study had offered.

's one of my favourites due to its wide array of possible uses. usually grows in the forest among rocks, durin' new leaf through early leaf fall. not super hard to find since it smells pretty sweet n is a sprawling plant. during bloom, they sport tiny white flowers amongst the usual thin stemmed fern like leaves." he began, tail flicking absentmindedly.

after a moment to let bleedingpaw absorb the information, he continued. "the leaves and roots can both be used for infected wounds but the roots are more potent. theyre off white and knobby with a bitter taste and pretty hard to miss. otherwise, the root can be used for both bellyaches and during kitting. lastly, its not ideal but if youre out of other options, the leaf juice can be used to soothe injured eyes... any questions?"

Oh wow chervil sounded useful. And rather pretty too, hopefully it'd bloom soon, if he gathered enough he could decorate the medicine cats den with it and then when it was needed it could just be plucked from the decorations.



Reflecting on how he'd seen marigold been used on him for his various wounds, so, cocking his head he asked "So would the leaves and roots be applied by chewing them and licking them into the wound and eaten for the stomach issues? And how do you get the juices into the eyes, do you just put chewed leaves in there?" The crinkle of the toms nose said he was pretty sure that wasnt how it was done at all but he was going off of his own knowledge of 'how herbs worked' here and he had mainly only ever been treated for run of the mill (self inflicted) minor injuries. And mostly when he was a kitten. By now he knew to keep his many scrapes clean and dry and unless they were properly bad they'd be fine without wasting herbs.
