She nodded at the response. Yes, that made sense. As everything thawed, they were sure to see more things that come from the swampy waters. In fact, all the ice melting would be perfect for them! Either way, she had to stay focused, she followed Newtbelly, inhaling the scent as it passed them. She narrowed her eyes, sniffing the air as she pondered the upwind downwind question... Well... It was blowing at them... so... erm... "....Downwind?..." She answered, a complete guess, but an answer. Not knowing wasn't acceptable, she had to at least give an answer. It was a 50/50 shot anyways!

He nodded, though he could tell that the apprentice seemed unsure.
"Yes - the wind's blowing toward us. That means we can smell the prey, but they can't smell us." He crept onward a little, motioning for Talonpaw to follow. The scent of mouse was thick now - there must be at least one near. As they crept, he kept an eye on Talonpaw's technique - trying to gauge whether or not he needed to correct anything.
