Hawkfur glanced up, following his son's gaze towards the horizon. He narrowed his sky-blue eyes, years of training and his hawk-like vision zeroing in on a few birds pecking at the rough ground, hoping for worms or seeds. Hawkfur nudged Crowpaw, keeping his voice low. "Those are robins, mate. Birds, like us." He grinned, then jerked his head towards them. "Let's go catch em, yeah?"

As the pair slowly began to make their way to the robins, Hawkfur gave Crowpaw a couple more tips. "When you're moving, remember that you've gotta remain downwind. Feel how the wind is blowing at us? Our scents are being blown behind us, rather than towards the birds." Closer, closer... "When you pounce, use those big strong legs of yours to jump up high, and your front paws to snag the bird. Sometimes they'll fly away, so you've gotta be fast." Hawkfur's eyes sparkled, overjoyed at being able to train his own son in hunting. "You ready, mate?"

Once Crowpaw gave his ready, Hawkfur slunk away and positioned himself close to the birds. He nodded at his son through the grasses, his russet pelt barely visible through the dry fronds. Then he leapt. Large white paws slammed on one of the robin's wing, earning a squawk of surprise from the creature before he silenced it with a bite to its neck. His head shot up, looking for Crowpaw and his attempt.
