Owlthroat’s yellow eyes dragged themselves open rather lazily. It was a chilly morning, but peeks of sunlight already danced through their log roof. He looked over to find his nest half empty, Tuftedtusk had already left for the day. Then again he was always a lot more up and at ‘em than Owlthroat ever was. He preferred the lazy long mornings where he could slowly warm up to the world. He found himself catching sight of the waking Newtbelly, probably his biggest accomplishment to date. He couldn’t help but flash a small, tired grin his way.

”Morning Newtface”, Owlthroat just about managed to pull the words from a yawn. He reached each of his limbs out in turn to stretch them, flashing his jagged black talons in the process.

Hm? Owlthroat was awake - it must be later than he thought. The tom peered towards the exit, trying to gauge the time. He was lucky to catch his senior once again - the two hadn't caught up for a while, probably due to Newtbelly's shift toward earlier and earlier mornings. "Morning old man," the tom responded, with a tail flick to the tom's skull. "You're up a little earlier than usual." Now might be a good time to prod him about goings on. He figured the tom must do something other than patrol, train and sleep. After seeing that interaction with Tuftedtusk, the calico's nosiness was already nipping at him, but that wasn't something he could outright ask. He'd just have to find a way to pry it out of him.
