Not shocking at all, but Briarsplash was far better than him at explaining this. Climbing was actually something he found very hard to put into words. For him, the basics of climbing didn't take that much work - probably due to his frame - so he'd never thought them through too deeply. He made sure to listen to her words carefully, and watch how she taught. It would certainly help him when it came to training his apprentices. No one really warns you, but you never get training on giving training. That, and he also took her pointers in for himself. He should honestly be a better climber with his stature - maybe he'd spend some time working on it alone.
Briarsplash demonstrated, before inviting another cat up there. Don’t freeze up - yep... That’s what had happened with Silentpaw way back. He wasn’t sure how to prevent that from happening to the apprentices - watch for signs of discomfort? He supposed so. Though, he wasn;t great at reading emotions. He’d just have to try his best.

It was a pretty large group, but nothing hard to deal with. A couple warriors were present, but it was mostly apprentices. He always found himself a little shocked, knowing that some mentors didn’t teach climbing - it seemed essential to him. What were they to do if they found themselves on the run from a fox? Good thing this session was being held. He’d hate for a fellow ShadowClanner to die over such a thing. Hm. Thinking about it, he better speed up and teach Stempaw about all that.

Who else? Newtpaw was here - that kid seemed promising. He didn’t know the others. The small one came forward first - Mosquitopaw, he guessed? Not bad for a first try. He slipped down once, but didn’t appear too anxious after that, at least to Newtbelly. It didn’t seem like there was anything to worry about, still, the tom made sure to position himself by the base of the tree just in case the ‘paw fell again.

One of the warriors - Littleblaze, was it? Began to climb, too. He wasn’t sure about the jump they started with, but hey, it worked - so who was he to say. Newtbelly was happy to catch the apprentice if he fell, but if Littleblaze were to fall, he’d be at a loss. He certainly didn’t have the correct stature to catch another warrior on his back - he’d probably be flattened. Much ti his relief, that situation didn't seem likely.

So far, no one had asked any questions. He didn’t like talking all that much, so it was a plus for him, but maybe some pointers would help them out? He tilted his head, trying to think of something helpful to say. “Try using your tail to balance. It's definitely helpful when you start going faster.” That’s all he had, really.
