Default Re: Hidden Dangers [ThunderClan Poison Lesson]

Event [#event]

- Wolfhawk -
- He/They - 10 Moons - ThunderClan Medicine Cat -
- A large dark brown tom with a darker back and lighter underbelly, a missing hind leg -

Wolf is not out as demi yet !!

Okay... Wolfhawk did not expect so many questions. Mainly about the difference. Spring had only told him they looked like poppy seeds, so the tripod could only distinguish the difference because of the flower. "The key difference with Foxglove and Poppy is where it comes from. I wasn't taught what foxglove flowers look like, but rather the seed since it is deadly. Poppy seeds come from a red flower and have a lot of seeds. So as long as they're from the red flower of poppy, you should be good," the young medicine cat explained. However, there were a few different questions too.

Wolfhawk first turned to Dawnpaw. "Both are tiny black seeds. As I just said, look at the flower and if its a red flower with a bunch o seeds, you should be good." Next was Peachpaw. The tripod tom cleared his throat before speaking. "I dunno but most of these probably quick. Foxglove seeds..." did he really want to say this in front of kits? Sure it would scare them, but a good warning that they would need to be careful. "The poison slows down the heart's beating until it stops completely. Certain death for anycat." Now, Burnedpaw's question. There were some other poisons that Spring had named locations, but these two did not. So Wolfhawk had just assumed they grew everywhere. "There are some that grow in specific areas, and I will tell you when we get to them. These two, I would say grow just about anywhere," they explained.

If there were no further questions, the young medicine cat would continue.

"Next is meadow saffron. Beautiful pale purple flowers and long, slender, and soft petals. The leaves are long and thin... kinda like grass blades. If you eat it, it makes the stomach twist with pain. Yer body weakens until ultimately you will meet starclan face to face. There is no use for it, only death," the medic warned.

Now, why not do another one as well? "Water hemlock," they started. While Aconiteheart had corrected the tom's knowledge and saying a tiny bite is about the equivalent of rotten prey, the clan (excluding Bumble, and probably Drizzlecloud) didn't know. If it is a deadly poison, it was probably best to exaggerate instead of the truth of small bites. Hopefully from keeping any bee-brains from taking chances with it. "Water hemlock have tall, hollow stems with tiny white flowers. Its roots are thick and pale, and the plant has a sharp scent. It grows near water, hiding with the reeds. Be careful because the roots can poison your paws. If you take even a single bite, The effects... It can bring seizures and foaming at the mouth, and is almost always a quick death." Although the tripod medic felt bad about exaggerating the danger, it was probably for the best, and could help keep cats from trying anything.

"Before I move on again, any questions about these two poisons?"
