"That's not the problem," he explained. "It's not safe out there. The territory isn't protected like the camp is. You could get hurt - and I know your parents or carers wouldn't want that happening." He tilted his head, trying to show a bit of sympathy to the kits. He debated telling them scary stories about the real dangers out there - predators, other clans, deep mud and water.
