The waiver in Wheatpaw's voice was unfamiliar to Slugpaw. She tipped her head at him. He was still so young. This all must be a lot of him to take in! She put her tail around his shoulders. "It's ok Wheatpaw! You're doing great!" The mostly white calico purred. She was caught off guard by his next question. She flicked her ear. It hadn't been as great as she had been hoping, but she wasn't about to tell Wheatpaw that! He was shivering like it was leaf-bare! "It was...great! I got to meet a bunch of Riverclan apprentices." She left it there. Wheatpaw was sweet he definitely would be upset if he heard that they were acting weird.

A familiar voice made her turn her head. Shellpaw! He seemed nervous too. Everyone seemed so scared this gathering, was there something she didn't know about? "Aw don't worry about it!" She purred. The apprentice thought she had already said that last time. She must not have made it clear enough, they still seemed so nervous. Was she really that scary? She tried to put on a bright smile. "We're just talking about gatherings you can stay if you want! It's Wheatpaw's first time! Oh this is Wheatpaw by the way. And Wheatpaw this is Shellpaw, he's one of the Riverclan apprentices I met last time." She gestured to each cat with her tail as she introduced them.

Too late a thought occurred to her. This was one of the cats who were being mean last gathering. Should she really be letting him around Wheatpaw? Her younger friend seemed a little fragile. Please Starclan let Shellpaw be nice! She really wanted her friend to have a good time!

Then the leader she hadn't reconized, Stormstar, started talked. Green eyes widened as she looked up at the Riverclan leader. She bowed her head and turned to Shellpaw. Had that many cats really died in such a short time? It seemed so impossible. "I-I'm so sorry. Are you alright?" Slugpaw was for at a complete loss for words.

Just about to run away, he was stopped by Slugpaw's response. It was a relief to know she wasn't all too bothered, even if he still felt a bit bad.
"Oh! Yes! I'd love to stay!" He mewled, noticing Wheatpaw as the two were introduced - "Oh hi, it's nice to meet you." They smiled to Wheatpaw before adding, "erm,, also, by the way, it's Seapaw now," he didn't really have a cool explanation, - just too many Shellpaws around, "turns out I had a name twin." The paw laughed, anxiousness almost forgotten (he was fickle like that, it seemed).

They gave a head tilt at Slugpaw's question - was he okay? His eyes followed Slugpaw's gaze to the leader's rock, realising that she was staring at Stormstar. "Oh," he thought for a minute, recalling the events of Fadingstar's departure, and later disappearance... "I think..." Hmm how to say it?? Fadingstar's most likely fate certainly wasn't a good thing at all, if only he'd run off to be a kittypet or something... "It's a terrible thing that happened, but RiverClan needed a new leader." They explained. Even if Fadingstar had survived and returned, they doubted that the clan would accept him as leader. And if things had carried on the way they were, with Fadingstar leading the clan, well - he wouldn't find himself apologising to Slugpaw. But now, it was becoming apparent to him - they were the same. Both apprentices, just from different places.
