White toes wiggled giddily as the star studded warrior awaited Dawnstar's next words, his chest swelling with pride as Flashies took the vow to defend the clan with her life, a vow that he knew she would always keep. Flashies was good folk, yep yep. She was the best. Silverlark was a sad tom, mmhmm. When he realized that he wouldn't be able to continue training her. Because! Because. Listen... listen... He was a good mentor, okay? A proper mentor. Not like Shadestink and Shadowstinkier. He took care of his apprentice, oh yes. Until... you know... He couldn't.

The former ShadowClan enforcer had no idea what had gone wrong. One day he was suddenly sick. Couldn't keep up. His mind got all foggy, yo. Couldn't tell friend from foe. And he wanted to go chomp chomp on everyone he saw which... not cool, ya dig? And he'd thought... you know? He'd thought to come back and visit Flashies in her dreams. She was so sad, mmmhmmm. She needed a biiiig hug. Biggest hug ever. Silverlark approved hugs were the best hugs. Rising said so, heh heh.

But then? Then he realized something, yeah? Oh yes. The same reason his mum never came to him in dreams. Or Hazely. Or any of the other cats he lost.

It wouldn't be fair to Flashies for him to keep holding on and not let her move on. It wasn't his time here with the living. Not anymore. But Flashies? Flashies had the whole world in front of her. A future that was as bright as her, mmmhmmm. If only... you know... she could let go.

Now... not intervening in her day to day was one thing. She had to find her own way, yeah? Yep! But not being here for her ceremony? BAHAHAHAHA! Don't make him laugh. He wouldn't miss that for the world! This was his Flashies, after all! And he would scream and yell and shout out her warrior name to the stars for everyone to hear, mmmhmmm. It was big time to celebrate, and he intended to bring the sky down with him to do so, heh heh.

As Dawnstar spoke, Silverlark's rounded ears perked up, an audible gasp escaping him because... Because! Because. Look, he didn't know if Dawnstar did this on purpose. If this was her way of remembering him in some way - Dawnstar was the best, she was always taking care of everyone in ShadowClan no matter how busy she was, after all, mmmhmmm - or if it was just a coincidence but.... Flashmouse?! Mouse?! Why! He had been a paw by the name of Mouse once upon a time! He had been a Mousekit too! Back when he was young! He'd just... outgrown his name, he supposed. Didn't really look like mum's little mouse once he was a warrior. Not anymore.

But Flashies?! Oh this was... Oh, where these tears?! Yep, that was it! He had happy tears now! Because! Because now Flashies would know! Just like he did deep down when he took on Auntie Larky's old name. That there would be a part of him with her always, no matter what! That she could live her life and be free... and once it was time to join the stars? He'd be there to guide her home. But in the meantime?

"WOOOO! FLASHMOUSE! FLASHMOUSE! FLASHMOUSE! YOU GO! Oh! Oh! Spiderthorn and Bitternglade too! BUT FLASHMOUSE! FLASHMOUSE! YAY FLASHMOUSE!" Silverlark chanted, adding in the two new apprentices he was admittedly not familiar with as he cried out his former apprentice's name, throwing a proud, chest puffed out, open mouthed grin at Flashies as he did.

He wasn't long for this world. His visit was coming to a close. He could feel the tug of the stars the longer he called out Flashmouse's name. And yet he was satisfied. Having been able to spend one last moment with her as she entered the next stage in her life... He'd always been a simple tom with simple wants. And to be there for his apprentice's naming ceremony? That was the last real want he could have ever asked of the after life.
