Re: We're Off to See the Borders! [ RC App Training ]
Shellpaw
he/they - 6 moons - Go with the flow [inactive]
Seeing the borders sounded fun and all, but as they moved through the territory, they realised that borders meant clans. Fadingstar mentioned the possibility of attack, and it sprung fear through every inch of his body. He suppressed a shudder, trying hard not to think about the possibility of a fight. Instead, he tried to focus on the gravels beneath his paws. So this is what RiverClan territory's like? He knew he saw a bit whilst fleeing the old camp, but he didn't really remember it. After all, he was so young.
Maybe the gravels would be harsh to another cat's paws, but after spending so much time in the mountain camp, his paws were rough enough to trot over them with ease. As they padded on, they felt the ground beneath them become softer, gravels dissipating. Gradually it became softer, and softer and softer, until it essentially felt wet underpaw. Were they in a different part of the territory? He gazed up, taking in his surroundings. There was water everywhere, this wasn't anything like a river: it was disorganised. But, it was kind of pretty - what was this?
'This is ShadowClan'
Ah. Oh no. He wrinkled his nose, finally catching a wiff from Shadowlan's side of the border. Swamp? Belgh! On top of that rancid smell, everything Fadingstar said about this clan was frankly terrifying. They kill kids? He wished he could hide inside his fur. He didn't want to be here.
'The better of a fighter you are, the safer you'll be in a fight against one of them.'
He gulped. Shellpaw had... No battle training. He'd been putting it off. Oliverat had offered it, but he got too scared. Well, if the rest of RiverClan train hard, he could skip out on battle training, right? That was an idea he had as a kit, but day by day it seemed far more farfetched. There really didn't seem to be a way to get out of battle training. Learning about ShadowClan's ruthless nature made him realise just how integral it was. Maybe he'd rather learn defensive strategies than not learn at all... He gazed down at the marsh, not taking in all of Fadingstar's words as his thoughts swam around his head.
A bird chirped on the wind, and his head shot up. Ooops OOPS, oh no, he'd missed part of the leader's speech. He tuned back in, grasping 'markers on objects, like trees, logs' Okay, okay, something about marking borders. They tilted their head, piecing together what they'd missed.
Any questions? He didn't think so. The marsh caught his attention, though. Just beside him sat the water's edge. It really was very different to the rivers he was used to. The water wasn't so separate from the land, it sort of gradually transitioned. They dipped a paw in, intrigued by it. Unfortunately, it wasn't very interesting. It was just water. Though, it didn't move like a river: It was very still.
