Wispypaw didn't say a word as they followed after the other two, the warrior with them probably following behind them. They had questions for the adult but right now wasn't the time. Hunting was more important at the very moment for now they'd focus on that and then ask later. Or they may have to answer to the deputy either way it wasn't their current task. With a sneer on their face that probably could kill a cat, the blind paw went off in their own direction with a sniff of the air. Like natural they kept an ear out to listen for other sounds and if the others in the patrol called for anything.

Right away they caught the scent of a small prey animal, maybe mice or a vole. Wispypaw couldn't tell since it had a different scent to it and they couldn't physically see what it was. Honestly, they didn't care what it was, as long as it was edible and not something bigger than them. Going down into a hunter's crouch like they were taught, they inched forward slowly. Once they've noted the scent getting stronger and the sounds of rustling becoming clear they stopped moving. All it took was a quick moment for them to lung and slam their paws down on this small creature, snapping its neck in one sitting. Even with it in their mouth they couldn't tell what kind of prey animal it was, oh well it was food now. Letting out a huff Wispypaw stashed away their first caught prey in a safe spot to come back to later.

Like they were just going to go back home with one measly little prey, that wouldn't do in their eyes. Once more they sniffed the air for a whiff of another creature for them to snatch. It didn't take long for them to catch a new scent, this one with an earthly smell to it, so something that messed with the dirt below. They dropped down into the crouch again and slowly slinked forward, feeling to avoid small obstacles on the forest floor. This time it didn't take long for the paw to come upon the small animal, oddly they could tell it was low-lying. With quick action they rushed forward, paws slapping down on a long slim tail and feeling it writhe below their feet. This thing was a snake, weird to feel it wriggling around but oh well more food for them. With a bite to its head, Wispypaw picked its limp rope-like body up and hid it with the other caught prey.

Tufted ear twitched at the sound of scuttling around the grass and fallen leaves, the paw didn't have to go searching. The stupid creature wasn't even trying to hide its presence, that was sad, reminded them of a few of their clanmates. There ought to be some dark places around this forest, there always were, and that is what they used to slink their way towards the noise maker. Once it was obvious by the prominent scent and the fact that its noise making was a bit louder, they stopped and readied to lung. Like countless times before with the leap and a quick but harsh pin to the ground, Wispy had the squirrel's head in her maw before snapping it. With a lash of their tail, they picked up the limp body before they went to collect the rest of their catch.

Three pieces of prey felt pretty good in their eyes, it made up for the late start so all should be good. Wispypaw would have tried for more but they would not push their luck, it only went so far before it would run out. For now, they had a blank face as they collected the other two dead bodies and went to join both their sister and the other apprentice. Now they had to wait for the warrior who had shown up late.
