Midnightpaw’s eyes seem to light up with a sudden hostility that she rarely ever beared, paws pulling her back as the small fox’s attention shifted to her–as expected, she had been practically gnawing at the thing’s ankles just a moment ago. Her lips curled into a snarl before she noted Hawkbite, quickly closing in on the fox’s other side–so, in order to avoid being caught in the crossfire, she leapt back, allowing for space for the fox to go tumbling to the ground.

For a moment, she watched as it scrambled, yapping, snarling and nipping at the air before them with big green eyes–and she nearly blanked out for a moment if it weren’t for Hawkbite’s words intervening her thoughts.

“On it!” Could you blame her for needing some guidance? This was her first battle experience that wasn’t sparring with her own clanmates. With a new task in mind, she practically slithered up behind the young fox, unsheathing her claws into the dirt beneath her before she leapt upwards, aiming to land on the fox’s back before it could manage to lift itself up on all four paws. Successfully landing on the creature’s back, she dug her claws deep into it’s pelt, earning a displeased yowl from the beast. Wuh-oh, now you’re in for it. Do something before it tries to get you off! She recalled the time that Goopypaw had performed the exact same move on her, to which she countered it by nearly squishing the poor fella into the ground.. She didn’t want to be squashed like that, no thank you!

 

Although personally she was against killing cats, she supposed foxes didn’t fall under the same label. No time to think about the morals of that, though, it was either the fox, herself, or Hawkbite–and so, there was really only one true answer here. With Hawkbite’s words of guidance ringing in her head, and adrenaline beating harshly through her veins, her jaw dropped open and with one quick motion, her teeth snapped shut once they had made contact with the back of the fox’s neck. Digging her teeth in as deep as she could, the sharp tangy scent of blood hit her nose and the red hot liquid hit her tongue just the same. With a bit of disgust fueling her motions, she harshly tugged her head to the side, tearing out a chunk of the fox’s neck with her, to which she spat the mess of flesh and fur onto the dirt. The fox wobbled beneath her, spits and howls diminishing into yelps and wails, although it didn’t last too long. The young fox collapsed to the dirt, allowing for Midnightpaw to hobble herself off of it, it’s blood still hot on her tongue and dripping from her lips. Eugh.

It definitely wasn’t the quickest death, she noted as she watched the fox weeze, still swiping at the air hopelessly, each movement becoming weaker and weaker. I’ll have to work on my killing bite. She noted, stalking away from the fox to instead stand beside Hawkbite with her head hanging ever so slightly, staring in silence as the blood pooled below the fox’s head, it’s paws finally falling to knead at the ground a few times before it soon went limp.

Oh. It was a little unfortunate to watch, if she were honest. It made her heart throb, oddly enough. She wished that she could have delivered a better bite, to give it a death that was less dragged on.

Big green eyes drifted from the fox up to Hawkbite, blinking up at him owlishly before she looked to Moonmeadow–who had also bested her fox, too… “Moonmeadow, your tail!” She darted to the warrior’s side in an instant, her tail lashing behind her. “Are you okay? We should get you back so that you can get that bite checked out, right?”
