High Rank Announcement [#hrannouncement]

Thankfully, both of the warriors that she called to collect the herbs that she asked for didn’t think about going against her orders. If they weren’t going to listen, then there was going to be problems. Before Brackenclaw had bothered to go gather the herbs she requested, she noted his hesitance to go help push the boulder off instead, the calico almost instinctively snapped to get him to listen, but he seemed to redundantly follow her orders and go around the Seastones and gather up the herbs she requested. Huffing through her nostrils, the calico watched as Riversong followed along, seeing his current state not being the greatest. She’ll handle him later, but now, her current focus was on getting this boulder off of Redhawk and getting her paw checked out. Her muscles screamed at her in a contraction of the consistent pushing, but she was trying her hardest to help the trio of warriors even with her strength wilting. Bumblestar’s voice soon reached her ears as the molly came barreling over, roaring out commands as the calico listened to her state for them to push under and up. Reluctantly nodding, the calico did just that, aiming to push under the large rock and pushing upwards to try to help the leader get the hornet out of the large boulder. She overheard both of the warriors who went out to search for the herbs she requested come racing back, and she almost found herself fretting about if they found the right herbs or not. Stars above if they hadn’t and she held no choice but to use them, she’d be going ballistic.

Spotting the red-furred molly no longer stuck beneath the boulder, the herbalist quickly rushed right next to the hornet to observe the paw, finding her heart sinking deep within her stomach from the jarring sight. The limb itself was crushed to no avail, as was to be expected from being underneath an unnaturally large boulder. Not only it was crushed, but it was twisted until it was facing upwards. Springlight found her stomach unsettlingly churning in its place, feeling as if a bevy of birds and bats flailed their wings with no end. With an injury like this, she doubted that it would be able to heal to a full extent, and without any proper supplies, she doubted she would be able to do much for the limb. Stifling a sharp, pang of breath, the calico looked towards both Bumblestar and Redhawk as she used both her forepaws to gingerly grasp the twisted limb. “I’m… afraid… with an… injury like… this… there’s a… very limited… chance… that it… will be… able to… heal to… a full extent… but I… will do my… best… to patch it… up… into a splint.” Springlight explained, focusing intently on Redhawk before using her tail to gently coax the pile of herbs in her direction. With how badly twisted and busted the paw was, there was no way that she would be able to properly try to twist it back into place without causing any immediate damage to the already-inflicted area, but she had no choice but to try. Gingerly, the calico tried to untwist the area to where it looked proportionately normal enough, but the process was difficult with how severed and uneven the paw looked. Stars, how was she going to fix this?

Lightningstorm’s words hadn’t gone unheard, and the calico focused briefly towards the wire-framed calico for a moment, processing her words as she thought. Had she dealt with the same situation before? Probably, more often than Springlight had in her entire career as a medicine cat. But, then again, it wasn’t like Springlight knew, she wasn’t in WindClan. Plus, her offer was genuine, and Drizzlecloud wasn’t right there to assist her at the moment, so it was better than nothing for her to help, unlike the tabby who decided to stay back at camp for whatever reason. Without hesitation, the calico firmly nodded before gesturing to the WindClan herbalist in her direction. “I… definitely… wouldn’t mind… the extra paws… of an… helper… If you… can… can you… try unfolding… these pieces… of cobwebs… so I can… wrap them… into a… tight cast… after I… am finished… making the… splint?... It will… help me… plenty.” Springlight mewed, using a forepaw to push the pile of silver webs toward the medicine cat before focusing back on the paw. Thankfully, given that the calico had noted the presence of the sticks within the woven cobwebs, she quickly snugged the webs off the tiny twigs before placing them next to the elder leaves. It would do good for a temporary cast before then, and given that she didn’t carry any moss with her at the moment, she would need to quickly undress it and place some moss inside before then.

Without any thought, the calico began working on quickly chewing the leaves into a thickened paste so it could properly stick to the area, being prone to soothe both fractures and sprains so that it wouldn’t be a bother. If she had some dandelions, she could’ve chewed some of that up and made it temporarily numb so that Redhawk didn’t have to feel any of the pain from the fracture. But, she wasn’t going to go all out and ask anyone to collect any of the wildflowers while she worked on making a temporary cast for the area. It was already in critical condition as it is. Where did that boulder even come from? Did StarClan magically cast it all of a sudden and it just landed on her paw? Springlight almost found herself questioning the thought, but she hadn’t wanted to overthink it while being focused on chewing the leaves into a paste. It tasted just about as bitter as any other herb did when she chewed them up into a paste or poultice. It wasn’t surprising, but it was always something she found out about every day or so. Soon, her chewing came to a close, finishing up with her carefully pushing the paste onto her paw-pads and rubbing it onto the fractured paw, carefully rubbing around the area as she made sure to slather all around the area. She wasn’t certain how it felt to the molly at the moment, but she hoped it would feel pleasant to some degree. Even with her focus on the fracture, she couldn’t help but think about how Crowpaw was feeling. The poor tom must be petrified at the moment.

Springlight briefly glanced at the young tom, noting his distress and the fact that a WindClan apprentice was over in his direction, comforting him the best he could. Even with the kid being in another clan, Springlight couldn’t help but feel genuinely pleased that at least all of the other clans had cats who cared significantly about the wellbeing of others and not themselves. It almost irked Springlight to a point from how undoubtedly selfish most cats she came across were. Did they ever think about the thoughts and health of others before themselves? She didn’t know, but it was something that she genuinely wondered and hoped to get an answer to at some point in her life. Stifling a sigh, the calico soon finished her rubbing as she carefully split the twigs into two separate pieces, preparing them for the cast that she’ll place onto the fractured limb after Lightningstorm was finished unwrapping the pieces of cobweb. Glancing towards the other calico, the molly firmly nodded her head. “I… thank you… for assisting… me… at this… time… It would’ve… been better… if Drizzlecloud… were here… but she decided… to stay… back at… camp… for an… unbeknownst… reason… it’s not… a lot… that cats… often think… for others… than for… themselves.” Her tone was laced with confidence and her words were genuine. She hadn’t hoped that the molly would give any sort of blunt-filled reply in retort to her gratitude for her help. Even though she expressed her thoughts about cats not thinking about others, she would presume that Lightningstorm would rightfully agree with her statement.

Focusing back down towards Redhawk, the calico observed the battered paw for a moment before letting loose a tight exhale, her blue gaze focusing on Redhawk’s jade green. “As I stated… earlier… I am… not certain… that your paw… will be able… to heal… up towards… a full degree… it may… remain permanently… dysfunctional… for the rest… of your life… and we may… come to terms… with either… amputation or… leaving it be… whichever decision you… will feel is… best for… yourself… other than that… after we… are finished here… and get back… to camp… I will… give you… a couple of… poppyseeds… and have… a cat… go collect… some dandelions… to numb down… any possible pain… in that paw… and put some… moss to keep… it comfortable… does that… sound alright… to you?” The medic explained, even with her voice muted and pausing at every second, she tried her hardest to explain to the hornet what they would do after they got back to camp. Hopefully, she wouldn’t take it too harshly, as it was nothing but the harsh truth of reality and reality wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows. She overheard Brackenclaw’s offer of assisting her in case it was needed once they got back to camp, and the calico only nodded in his direction. ThunderClan needed more warriors who would be willing to step up and help, and he seemed to have the right mindset. She didn’t respond, only awaiting Redhawk’s words - or anyone else, really - before then.
