It all just happened so fast. One moment Briarkit was on her paws, standing up to the old cat with Lilycreek's tail barring her from tearing his face off, and the next she felt her legs kicked out from under her. Letting out a startled gasp, she began to fall forward, but then a strong shove to her chest sent her the other way, landing on her back awkwardly. The wind was pushed out of her, and it took her multiple moments to regain her breath, inhaling frantically. Then, she pushed herself to her paws, half expecting howls of outrage or at least someone to chastise him.
But nothing.
She heard nothing. Only him ordering his daughter to take her away, and the queen growling at her father to not touch Bri, and then Briarkit was touched again without further warning, without her consent, and the queen scooped her up and pulled her a few feet away, then set her down and asked if she was okay. Briarkit expected her father to come charging over, furious that someone had touched her, had hurt her, but nothing. This wasn't like when that tabby had touched Pikestar's daughter and Pikestar had practically obliterated the tom, physically, emotionally, verbally and socially. No furious or even slightly upset father came to her defense, so she just shook her head in response to Pear's question.
Then, she heard Silver and the mean old cat talking, and the words the tom spat were enough to make the firecracker flinch. Pushing Pearl away, hot tears springing in her eyes, the tabby let out a snarl that was as furious as a warrior in battle.
"I'm not a dumb kit, you will not claw my ears off and I will not get my ass away from you. And you will not be mean to Beetlekit or me just because you're having a bad day. I didn't call you a jerk for nothing, I called you a jerk because you are one." It wasn't like Stonepaw or Daddy were going to support her or make her stop, so why worry about consequences?
If Lilycreek's tail tried to stop her again, she would bat it away.
"I know no one else cares or notices it when you hurt kits, but don't EVER touch me again. I don't care if I get in trouble, if you hurt me or any other kid again, I'll make sure that every day of the rest of your miserable life is hell." Fierce emerald hues darted around, daring anyone to chastise her for her fiery words to the senior. He deserved it. And no one could convince her otherwise. She was putting down boundaries that she didn't think had to be established, and she wasn't happy about it.
Yes, she tried to claw and smack the senior. But he deserved it. She was defending Beetlekit and he hurt her just because he didn't like being stood up to. And to the two gentle adults who invited her to sit with them, the ginger tabby felt warm wetness running down her cheeks and she
hated it. She wasn't sad! She was angry! (maybe sad too, but mostly angry)
"Are you all blind?" She spat, lips curling to display her tiny, thorn sharp white teeth, dreaded tears spotting the ground below her. Once again, Briar wasn't defended. Once again, Dad wasn't here to help her or protect her or defend her. Once again, it was brushed off.
And her words would probably,
once again be dismissed as a temper tantrum.
(so sorry for the angsty briar post guys
