But, Shadowfur wouldn't give Flameheart the satisfaction of hearing that. Better to let her think he was just another Dawnspawn, for now.

Thrushfur and Bumblebreak. One of them must be ThunderClan's new deputy. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Flameheart seemed proud of her performance against Bubblestream. Shadowfur studied her body as she spoke of the conflict, looking for scars. He didn't really care if she saw him analyzing her; he expected her to do the same, given her clear distrust of him. She seemed relatively scar-free, aside from one across her nose and another on her shoulder, suggesting to Shadowfur that she was either an extraordinarily competent fighter or that she had only a pawful of battles under her pelt.

Then, unexpectedly, she launched into a long-winded diatribe about her family, and her murderer of a brother. Shadowfur's eyes were drawn back up to her face as she spoke, his curiosity piqued again. Flameheart's littermates were murdered by their own brother? Terrible. Shadowfur couldn't imagine even Dawnstar doing something that sinister, as odd as that was to think.

Flameheart ended up finding the guy torturing a kit, and murdered him as a result. Shadowfur lifted his muzzle as she declared her willingness to kill, before launching into a few assumptions about him.

When she finished, he took the opportunity to speak before another leader slid in with more announcements. "If you believe that I am truly as bloodthirsty and sinister as you claim, then why trust me with information about your personal life? Why tell me anything about your family, your weaknesses? Your mate?" Shadowfur's eyes briefly scanned the gathered cats, as he wondered if her mate was among them.

He shifted his eyes back to her as she threatened him. "Your pelt is relatively scar-free, except for that on your shoulder and that on your nose. They look quite pink. Must be fresh. Did that RiverClan warrior give them to you?" He flexed his own muscles, which had grown considerably since he became an Enforcer. "For making such big, bold threats, I certainly hope you can back them up. A vicious, bloodthirsty, indiscriminate killer is leaps and bounds ahead of any RiverClan coward. I hope you know what you're doing."

Flameheart

The ShadowClanner's eyes surveying her pelt was nothing short of alarming. What's he doing looking me up and down? Idiot... "Eyes up here, buzzo. If you're so keen on staring at a she-cat's pelt, I suggest you do it with someone in your own Clan. Preferably one without a mate."

Shadowfur was quick to bring his eyes up to meet hers and made a comment regarding her scars. Oh, that's what he was looking for? Seriously? And despite her misunderstanding of what the tom was doing, she figured it wouldn't hurt for the toms around her to get a little reminder that sort of behavior was not accepted by any she-cat.

"Don't flatter yourself staring at my pelt, Shadowfur. They're new, and yes... that former RiverClanner did give them to me. My brother didn't fight back, so don't ask me any more about him. You and I both know he was horrible, either way he was going to end up dead, regardless if he was being a coward or not. Do not ask again. And do not go looking for a she-cat's scars... that could be misinterpreted as... a threat to her safety."

Speaking of safety... I should shut up and refrain from giving him anymore information. Who knows if he's a Dawnstar follower or not. But.. then again, as long as I'm careful and don't spill important information... it doesn't hurt to keep him as close as I do a friend. What's the saying? 'Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer'? "Does it look like I can't back my bark up with my bite to you? Does it look like I don't know what I'm doing? Many of ThunderClan's warriors have a bark and bite... and depending on the warrior you meet in battle? A more powerful bite. I'm quite serious when I say that."

"Some personal information is shared amongst friends, no? Besides... my family is nothing but traitors, rogues, and loners. Clearly you can see I'm the opposite, so don't go thinking I'm exactly like them." I won't tell him about my niece and nephew. No. That would be stupid and dangerous.
