Larkpaw

The young damsel's attention snagged on her mentor as xe approached her, and she inked him into her memory. At least this one was already showing more backbone than the last. Briefly, Lark twisted to allow her new mentor to touch noses with her, as was the tradition she'd noted. Afterward, she said nothing, just merely turned back to the task at hand; listening to Dawnstar's announcements.

As everyone around her began to cheer the two new warriors, Lark's mouth twisted with a small frown. Was she to yell out these names and announce them to the world as well? Perhaps it was another tradition. That, she could settle for. "Willowspark? ...Sunsetthorn." Larkpaw's voice definately lacked the enthusiasm and lustre one would hope it contained. But what did they expect? That she should be excited for someone else's naming ceremony? If the announcement did anything to Larkpaw, it was only that it made her further itch for her own training to get along faster. Speaking of training...

Turning back to her mentor, Sorrelflare, Larkpaw took time to study him. Distantly, she heard Dawnstar dismiss the gathered cats, which was one of the main reasons why Lark had turned away from the meeting. Because it was over. An eyebrow rose as she inspected her new trainer, clearly challenging Sorrelflare despite the very large age gap between them. With a wide grin bordering on playful or feral (depends on which way you interpreted it), Larkpaw sat back and tucked her tail around her paws.

"Well then. I'm Larkpaw, you know that. You're Sorrelflare, I know that." Her head tilted to the side. After a beat of silence, in which Lark stared rather unashamedly at her mentor (most likely scrutinizing him), she spoke again. "Despite the way I talk, I respect you." Yep, Sorrelflare had miraculously passed her staring contest test. "But," Oh yes, there was always a condition. "We get through training like two proper cats. I don't need babying. I've had my fair share of sitting around doing nothing because my former mentor was either too much of an idiot, or he felt ashamed training a former loner." A challenging gleam ignited in her fiery amber gaze, and Lark lifted her chin a notch. "I hope, for your sake, that you do not care that you're teaching non-Clan blood."

[ @oleander - Sorrelflare | Aaah, apologies for the fact that I referred to Sorrelflare as 'they' in my previous post :,) I was under the assumption that his pronouns were 'He/They' instead of 'He/Xe'. Also, I swear Lark isn't usually this stuck-up She just wants to push away her own insecurities with this show of false bravado. ]
