He chuckled at his mentors comment for the most part it was true. As he watched his mentor crouch and crawl. clover'paw followed willingly and saw the bright patches of marigold which he now realized was what was giving him a slight headache, it was so strong! Beetleblaze kept his voice hushed as he felt the grass sway signaling his apprentice was in position next to him.
"I'll go for the one on the right and you can take the plump one on the left. We will head downhill two tail lengths as quietly as possible, then we pounce." The warrior hoped the heavy wind would mask any heavy footfall or vibrations which mice were so sensitive to. He edged forward cautiously considering what the prey might be thinking as they rustled through the undergrowth greedily nibbling the easy gift of plant seeds. He brushed away his typical curiosity no longer focused on anything but his clans future meal.
He halted for mere milliseconds winding his haunches which sprung lightning quick off the hillside sending him hurtling down towards the squeaking rodent. He felt the weight of his body fall on and daze the mouse. He quickly scooped it up with his right paw and delivered the finishing bite. Beetleblaze turned to see how his apprentice had made out.
