Berrypaw had been curled up in her nest, blue and green eyes glued on a pile of feathers scattered on the floor as her bushy, fluffy tail flicked back and forth. Eventually, the cream-furred apprentice decided to wrap her tail around her paws, tucking away her little cluster of precious trinkets into the lining of her nest. She’d barely settled down to sleep, heterochromatic gaze fluttering slowly shut in an attempt to sleep when a voice blared into the apprentice den. Well, it wasn’t that loud, but to Berrypaw’s sensitive, rounded ears, it was incredibly startling, and the she-cat leapt from her nest in a shocked frenzy, fur poofing out in all directions with fear.

Maybe Berrypaw had overreacted, and perhaps she’d be made fun of for such a tragic reaction, but Berrypaw couldn’t understand what was going on for a good few moments, unable to comprehend what had just transpired before her mind slowly, very slowly, caught up.

A battle training session?

Berrypaw’s first response was to lower herself back into her nest and curl up to attempt sleeping again, but when she actually thought about it, Berrypaw realized that she dearly needed more outings, and this was probably the best way to do it. Because after all, Fallownose(guessing by the voice), had offered himself to help train the apprentices, unlike when Berrypaw had walked up to Pouncestone and felt like she’d been intruding on his privacy during the entirety of their territory tour. Maybe this one would go better. Maybe…

Taking a deep, cleansing breath, the shorter-than-average she-cat trotted after her deputy, feeling slightly intimidated by the other apprentices that had joined Fallownose’s offered training session. Perhaps they were thinking the same thing as her. That their deputy was genuinely nice enough to help lagging behind(in her case) apprentices with their training.
