Twistedkit was a bit confused as to why Lynxkit was so excited over her. Nobody had been excited over her before. Mother was always sad, angry, and mad, while Twilightstar and Cowpaw… they were nice and friendly, but they talked about a lot of stuff that made her really confused. Hickorypaw had been excited when he was little. But he had been playing. Twistedkit did think that the leader, deputy, and medicine cat were cool, even though two of them had made her really confused. But they were all so awesome and friendly, and… well, Willowsky was just sick. Yeah, that was it.
“Twilightstar is cool,” Twistedkit squeaked in her distorted voice. “She isn’t friends with my mother. I don’t know if she likes my mother very much.” It was hard to convey her feelings and emotions, so she just settled on simple speech like this. And then the topic came to Laurelpaw. “I know she didn’t wanna be mean. Fallownose said she was feeling confusing feelings. I am, too.” Twistedkit didn’t know what else to say. That is, until a question came up in her mind. “Who’s your mother?” she asked. “And… is she nice? Does she get mad at you, or bite you?” Twistedkit had to know what other mothers were like, because it was hard to accept that Willowsky wasn’t treating her normally. Twistedkit loved her mother and always would.

Lynxkit flicked his ear. He had assumed that Twilightstar was friends with everyone in the Clan. Wasn’t that what being Clan leader mean? Getting to be friends with everyone? How could Twilightstar do her job, if she wasn’t friends with everyone. What could Twistedkit’s mother done, because Twistedkit’s mother seemed a little messed up, Lynxkit thought. And Luarelpaw didn’t sound any better.
What confusing feelings? Lynxkit wondered to himself. Good confusing, or bad confusing? Lynxkit almost asked her, but then thought better if it and kept his mouth shut. Twistedkit hasn’t clarified, so that me at she probably didn’t want to talk about it.
Pushing that out of his mind for now, Lynxkit listened to Twistedkit’s question about his mother. Lynxkit puffed out his chest proudly, glad that he would be able to contribute his own amazing life to the conversation. “My mother is Maplecloud,” Lynxkit meowed to Twistedkit excitedly. “And she is the greatest. She would
never bite me. She’s really nice, but also kind of protective, and sometimes gets mad when I do something wrong.” Lynxkit scrunched up his nose. “But I think that’s just basic mom stuff. Or maybe it’s because she adopted me, so she’s more protective. So that’s why she yells at me. She just wants me to be safe, you know?”
