herbs [p]

->> minkpaw [she/they, rc apprentice, 12moons, the collector, herb2] <<-
a dark blueish grey bengal-patterned she cat with silver eyes

another day, another cat she had on her mental list to bug about herbs. slipping out of the medicine den, when had she even began staying over night, she looked around the clearing. which cat would it be today...not another apprentice, she had had enough of them deny any knowledge the day before..after a short time of asking around, getting a bunch of "no"'s and "what?"'s she paused infront of another cat.
"do you maybe know herbs?" she mewed at the cat, glad that she didnt have to break up another conversation to ask.

The pale ginger and white she-cat had been gnawing half-heartedly on a mouse, her eyes downcast. But the sound of paws and then a voice caught her attention, and Sweetsong blinked wide green eyes, filled with surprise. "Herbs?" She chirped. She had been teaching a lot about herbs lately...with the absence of an official medicine cat, she, among others, had taken to learning herbs in the event that they needed someone to tend wounds or sicknesses.

"I can teach you," She replied, tracking the direction the apprentice had come from. She scraped dirt over the remains of her mouse- She had eaten less than half of it- Sweetsong sat up and looked at Minkpaw with some interest. "What herbs do you know already? I wouldn't want to repeat what you might know," She phrased it kindly, but privately, she was prying to see just how much this apprentice knew about medicinal herbs. She had learned some for herself chatting with other herb-oriented warriors, so she felt mildly comfortable with her own knowledge.

she nodded when sweetsong repeated 'herbs?', and waited for the warrior to continue. it had been a bit rude to interrupt the warrior while eating, but she didnt seem to mind so it was okay?

"yippee!" she cheered quietly, staring up at sweetsong with hope in her eyes, "uhmm i know borage, brighteye, broom, chervil, chickweed-" her tail tapped the ground as she listed off the herbs, as if counting, "-and i know some others but not really- i know how some look but not what they are used for" she continued.

"Oh! Well you know quite a lot already!" Sweetsong purred, "Well, the ones I know are horsetail, yarrow and I do believe I am familiar with borage," She added. "We can go gather some horsetail; I know how to use and apply that. I don't recommend trying yarrow...but it is used to expel ingested poisons."

"What is chervil for? It sounds familiar, but I don't think I've ever gathered any or tested them out." She tipped her head at Minkpaw, "I think we can both learn a lot from each other." She blinked slow and warm at the younger she-cat.

horsetail and yarrow, minkpaw surpressed the bounce in her step at the good news, more knowledge to feed her ever growing pool of questions "do you know anything specific about yarrow anyway? you say ingested poison, so that means if the cat ate it right?" the grey apprentice voiced her thoughts aloud.
"hmm chervil is kinda like a 'mild' option for infection.. so i guess it generally shouldnt be used on more serious stuff..not really that useful i think" she shrugged as if this was entirely irrelevant and totally didnt make her anxious, providing the other cat with enough knowledge to sound reasonable but also playing it down and keeping a lot of it to herself, the thought of sharing the full spectrum of her knowledge was something she'd fight teeth and claw to avoid.
