Thunderbird Cavern
In a densely-forested part of the territory, and near a large Twoleg Thunderpath, is Thunderbird Falls. A pair of waterfalls rush down from a short cliff-face and into a small pond that houses fish, frogs, and salamanders. Behind the falls lies a cave, concealed by hanging ivy and covered in layers of thick moss. Stalactites displaying their own layers of vegetation hang down from the ceiling, and drip water into tiny pools beneath, creating a constant sound akin to rainfall. The ground is soft and holds onto pawprints. As one ventures further in, the rock walls grow narrower, until the only thing that's accessible is a thin tunnel made of a strange material that extends out to the surface on the other side of the Thunderpath. Bats sometimes seek shelter in the cave, and crayfish and other tiny fish can be found within the inner pools. A far wall at the back stands as a living record of honorable past and present high ranks and hornets from the time of the caves discovery. |

Each disaster was anew in its own way, and each time it gave and took clanmates in turn changing faces like seasons. But each one would be weathered in time, the damage healed, and there'd be peace, however brief, until the next. It was all routine and not at all, and if Mudhound in the scant quiet intelligence they had knew anything, it was that joy must be enjoyed while it existed lest you find yourself drowning in the devastation that'd follow soon. Enjoy life while it lasted, take the hardships as they came, mourn what was but do not wallow, move on and find new joy, repeat. Sometimes however, this mindset felt awfully hollow and hard to follow. Like now. Mudhound had weathered loss before, knew the hollow feeling of grief. But this felt different, felt more, felt endless in a way it'd not before and their only solace was that the cold bleak damp and dead sight of thunderclans territory in leafbare felt fitting. The world was mourning the loss, not just the cats who's lives had been left a little more barren in its wake. They had to get out. They had to get out of this damn camp too full of memories of a happier time they need to get OUT and free their lungs of the sludge that awful sickness had brought, that horrible sickness that'd taken more then it had any right to- They needed out. But they didnt trust themself to be alone right now, fearing the silence of a now lesser territory and now louder wailing thoughts would overwhelm them, so stood frozen in the camp entrance. Stood frozen staring out into the treeline like it was new and foreign to them again, and they were lost all over. @BEAR. |
Re: Thunderbird Cavern
It was a sensation he was unused to, this raw coldness inside him. An emotion so unfamiliar he was unsure how to process it, but it brought him back to that night - that night Mapleface had - when Bumba had -
he thought he'd lost her, for good. And she came back. But Redhawk would not. She had no second chance, no lives at her disposal. Bumba didn't have enough to bring her back, too - (could she even, if it worked for Violet? would she even, if she could?) It didn't matter, in the end. Time's arrow marched forward and with it came the burial. Willow's Rise had never felt so far away. It reminded him of those trees, so long ago. A lifetime even. They spiraled to the sky and they conquered them, the old claw marks of her sister beneath them. Of how she was who he spoke his ambition to, and whom he would have continued to do so - but the world was cruel, and kept her away. Of a leg, mangled to save a traitor. Of sorrow, a twisted sense of grief and worthlessness transformed into the hope of a better future. She didn't have to settle. They could fix this. ... of Death, a mistress that stalked everything and nothing. Of a sickness that burned his lungs and tainted his heart, his very being corrupted by an invisible enemy. The movement across the makeshift camp wouldn't have normally caught his attention, head sunk toward the ground. If Wolfhive had looked skeletal before Redhawk's passing, he looked decrepit even further - what little appetite he had before lost to the void. If not for recognizing Mudhound's form, he might've ignored it altogether. The Tripod was gawking past the entrance, seemingly lost in ...Wolfhive wasn't sure, but he took it as a sign they wanted Out. Getting to his paws was an ordeal in of itself. In the last moon or so he'd hardly moved, wasting away under this disease - and he nearly buckled before he managed to catch his footing. His paws were shaking, his legs trembled, and he was breathing hard in between fits of cough. But he still pushed on, unshaky steps leading him forward until he met Mudhound near the camp entrance. "Come... on..." there was no point in just standing around, and some time away from Sunkissed Creek might do them some good. [ @Rani ] |

They couldnt guarantee they'd come back if they went. They needed out. They couldnt guarantee they'd come back if they went. They needed out. They couldnt guarantee they'd come back if they went. They needed OUT- Wolfhive interrupting felt like a punch to the chest and suddenly Mudhound was gasping for breath, panting as if they'd ran a marathon (or perhaps had a panic attack) or'd not been breathing for almost too long. Their muscles ached, vision swam and for a long shuddering moment it was akin to being dunked in ice cold water. A feeling Mudhound had never wanted to feel again after one disastrous winter given they couldnt swim. In sum total they hurt now, more then the ache of illness and more then the dull throb of grief. Why had Wolfhive disturbed them? What was he doing, wanted from the tripod? Mudhound didnt know, felt lost and clueless at the moment but given he seemed to have a better idea for direction right now then them they followed without question. It quickly turned from him leading to the much healthier tripod using their bulk to forge ahead and break through thunderclans thick undergrowth to clear his path, flank just at his shoulder to provide support as the two walked. It wasnt in a direction Mudhound thought theyd ever gone in before but.... Well perhaps that was better. If they were walking somewhere new it meant the memories couldnt ambush them. As they did the normally chatty hornet was silent, empty of words for almost too long until the horrible oppressive weight of everything in the quarantine camp was distant enough to be away. Then? "...... I think I hate the sunkissed creek now. Hate feels new and bad." @BEAR. |
Re: Thunderbird Cavern
There they went, with Mudhound quickly overtaking the world-weary Wolfhive. In another lifetime he might have been irked to have to rely on Mudhound for support, but in the moment he was grateful to have a massive doofus to lean on. This sickness had rooted within him quickly, eating him alive.. and yet somehow, despite those grim odds, he remained.
Redhawk never had the spite that generated his being. She had been warm and pure, looking for the best even in the worst places. ".. It ..isn't the ..Creek that ..took her, ..it just.. feels.. that way.. 'cause it's.. where.. she left.." A shaky breath, a weak swallow. Broken, sputtered coughs in between words. ".. ain't gonna.. get any.. easier.. no matter.. where.. you go.. you'll just.. think of.. her.. regard..less.." The pain might lessen with time, but never truly go away. Such was life, as cruel as it was. It dawned on him, as they made their way through undergrowth and brush, that he wasn't sure.. where they were.. Maybe it was the sickness confusing him, it wasn't like he could rely on his nose presently. The woods around them seem to have grown thicker, and he could scarcely see through the foliage. Distantly, he could hear the rumble of a monster. ".. we.. near.. the.. Thunder..path?" [ @Rani ] |

https://warriorcatsonline.com/forums...ictureid=51027 Mudhound Thunderclan Hornet | They/them | 40 Moons Bilingual T3 | Flock Together T3 | Rapid Recovery | Killer Aptitude T3 The bitter laugh that ripped itself from Mudhounds throat was not theirs. It was not the bubbly bright thing that often rung out in the camp. It was sharp, harsh, mean and thankfully cut off with a cough, a laugh of an altogether different hound who perhaps was a lot less pleasant to be around. A threat to all rather then a boon. Because honestly? No kidding Wolfhive of course they'd see Redhawk everywhere and it'd haunt them, somehow somewhere the molly had become Mudhounds whole damn life only to see that clearly when she was gone. Mudhound didnt blame the tom for these mean thoughts though, they were born of the aching too late realization that they shouldnt have wasted time being afraid Redhawk would reject a relationship and that even if they had spoken earlier there was nothing they couldve done to prevent this cruel end anyways. Regrets but the result wouldnt change anyways. So really it didnt matter and Mudhound discarded the mean side of themselves born of this, knowing Redhawk wouldve hated it and simply said. "So Ill hate everything I see until I can cope with the grief. Makes sense, but I hate hate. Maybe its unfair to her but I wanna just skip all this until Im ok with living again." Because nothing Mudhound could do would bring her back anyways. Because she'd want Mudhound to be happy. Because cats needed them to not fall appart. Because they hated feeling like this. Because for all they wanted to be with Redhawk more then anything letting life stop for this was not even an option. An odd way to deal with grief, and usually the tripod would hide it to not disconcert others while they tried to support them but screw it. Mudhound more then anyone had right to mourn. The walk was silent for a time again, tears rolling down brown cheeks as they walked until a distant rumbling perked folded ears up and the tripod focused once more. "Thats... weird. We're heading in the right direction but shouldnt be close enough to hear it." The tripod had a good sense of direction for the twoleg place and things in it given how long they'd lived around it but this.... A large head cocked this way and that and they mused "Thats not car-sorry monster rumbles. Thats something else." It was something new, something not linked to the loss of Redhawk. They were investigating, if only for a task to take their mind of things and Wolfhive was going with them. @BEAR. |
Re: Thunderbird Cavern
This was probably the most normal Mudhound had ever seen, at least to Wolfhive. He was used to the endless attempts of being upbeat and he wasn't sure how worried he should be about the oversized puppy's mental health.
It was hard, trying to formulate words around loss when he himself was so inexperienced. Because yeah, wouldn't it be great if one could just wave their tail and make the pain stop? Life didn't work like that, though, so when the Thunderpath distraction came he was glad, as he wasn't sure what to say. He knew enough to know that no word could fix the hole in Mudhound's heart. "..car?" Once again, Mudhound was proving themselves an odd one with their words. He understood monster well enough, but his senses were so dulled by the sickness it was hard to have a true bearing on where they were. ".. what else.. could make.. that... sound?" Mudhound was right, of course - it didn't have the same vibration or roar, but it was unfamiliar and he didn't like it. As they ventured through the dense forest, the unfamiliar noise began to make sense to Wolfhive - it reminded him of rainfall, torrenting against the earth. But there was no rain, and he began to wonder if this was another instance of spirits messing with the world. Until he saw it: the vegetation broke just enough to reveal a small pond, and more importantly, the twin waterfalls that fed it. He'd seen some things, but nothing like this, and stood in quiet awe. Re: Thunderbird Cavern
https://warriorcatsonline.com/forums...ictureid=51027 Mudhound Thunderclan Hornet | They/them | 40 Moons Bilingual T3 | Flock Together T3 | Rapid Recovery | Killer Aptitude T3 It was kind of funny. They'd only just stepped outside thunderclans border, a five minute walk pushing past the outsider border moving slightly closer to the twolegplace at most, and yet as they traveled the area became new and alien. It was almost like no one ventured to this part of the territory, for all the border was strong, and as they stepped into the brush outside of thunderclan land headed towards the sound things suddenly went from known home to wild. Had no one found this place before? Had no one investigated the strange sound just outside their borders? It was a welcome distraction from grief as thoughts raced, Mudhounds head on a swivel as they looked around. Wild felt a good descriptor as the light dusting of snow brought by the winter didnt really exist here, blocked by thicker trees and a perpetual dampness in the air. The dampness, heavy and oppressive, gathered on everything, causing little icicles to coat the trees like leaves turning their familiar forms strange and wetting the ground, causing mud to squish below their paws. And even with the leaves that did remain they werent... normal, not looking as if they belonged as vines unlike anything Mudhound knew wrapped around the trees and laced their canopies. And the steady rumbling... It only grew, blocking out all sound but it and drumming in the tripods chest as they approached. Almost like a hook in their chest attached to a line drawing them in. It was a risk, a huge one to keep looking with only two sick cats, but neither seemed at all inclined to turn around. What they found was both completely unexpected and not at all. Of course something like this was in a place like this. ~See first post area description~ "I...... I had no clue something like this was even here.... Its..... Its......" No words could describe this but the tripod still tried. "Awe inspiring. The sound traveled so far and is so loud because its empty inside like a cave...." Peaking into the pond the waterfalls fed, partially frozen over but not quite yet, small fish darted around, catching wide captivated eyes. It didnt smell like anything was here, didnt look like it but maybe illness had made Wolfhive wary rather then his usual unabashed boldness. Mudhound would stop, not go in if he wanted that. But he'd need to say so, as "I wanna go inside." @BEAR. |
Re: Thunderbird Cavern
BEAR. is going to leave the intrinsic details to Rani, so don't mind the lack thereof here.
"Then.. let's.. go." The only reason Wolfhive hadn't was because he was admiring the view, but he was itching to see what was in store. There was a gap behind the waterfalls that lead them into the cave, getting them minimally wet by the spray. He was glad.. he didn't like getting wet, even with his swimming ability. Leave that stuff to Violetma. He did have to break once they were inside, wheezing for a semblance of air. The cave was impressive - he didn't know why the ceiling was so pointy or... He jerked back abruptly, startled by an explosive bat. A short hiss escaped him before he broke down into coughs. [ @Rani ] |
Re: Thunderbird Cavern
https://warriorcatsonline.com/forums...ictureid=51027 Mudhound Thunderclan Hornet | They/them | 40 Moons Bilingual T3 | Flock Together T3 | Rapid Recovery | Killer Aptitude T3 The tripod jumped as the bat came screeching out, hissing at it like that'd scare the stupid thing before it flew off and they felt kinda silly. It wasnt even a big bat or an angry one, just kinda startled from its sleeping spot with the rest of the bats on the roof. Huh. "Stupid fake-bird thing...." God that one bit of fright was tiring and the tripod gave a cough of their own, even as they worriedly sniffed at Wolfhive and murmured a "Sit down and rest, Ill check to make sure its safe here. Dont think we got the energy to go straight back and theres water here." worried. It was partially true but also... Well Mudhound just couldnt cope with going back yet. They couldnt go back to that awful camp Redhawk had died in, where everyone was rotting and getting worse and hope was just draining. Nonono. There was a distraction here that allowed the tripod to ignore their horrible grief and they were going to take it just to not think about how the love of their life was gone. So again, nope on going back, Wolfhive could supervise and rest. Plodding around the area and sniffing the area the tripod noted that oddly enough for so sheltered and perfect an area there was no predator scent or really any indication any mammal bar the bats had been here in a long time. It was safe, flush with water and prey and really just perfect. Then there was the hole at the back with the different rock that went further and sticking their head in the hornet noted it seemed pretty twoleg like from their experiences. It also downright stunk of the thunderpath, with the faint tinge of fresh air on the other end. And considering the thunderpath was abooooout right overhead at this point? They were pretty sure? It might just cut right under. This was a fun thing to find and padding back over more awake and free from the weight then they'd been in awhile with something to focus on their eye caught on a large stone wall, paws digging into the thick mud below it. "We found a treasure Woofie! Like a secret hideout~ We should mark the occasion before we go, theres a big wall back there and its screaming for some mud art! What do you think, I seriously think we're the first cats here ever." The words and exploration had obviously wiped the tripod as they flocked hacking and kind of desperately drunk down some water from the pool. It was cool and soothing at least for their sore throat. @BEAR. |
Re: Thunderbird Cavern
With the rat-bird gone, Wolfhive forced his fur flat and didn't protest when Mudhound told him to break. He was.. exhausted, already, just from the walk.
He sank down in a little huff as Mudhound did their thing. At this point, he was drifting a bit - a side effect of sickness fatigue - and Mudhound's voice made him jerk back awake. He blinked, muffled coughing into his fur, and moved to get up before it happened again. "yeah.. bumba.. will.. wanna.. know.." more coughing, and he grimaced. "maybe.. once.. this.. is over.." no point in making this trip when they could hardly walk one way, especially when they should conserve strength. the cave wasn't going anywhere. He made it to the wall in question, peering up at it. "keep it simple.. for now, maybe.. we can add more someday but.." he stuck his paw in the nearby mud and boinked the wall to leave his print behind. "how's... that?" he slouched back down and sank near the pool of water, the exertion wearing him out once more. after a moment to gather himself he also took a drink, trying to relieve some of his discomfort - to minimal success. https://warriorcatsonline.com/forums...ictureid=51027 Mudhound Thunderclan Hornet | They/them | 40 Moons Bilingual T3 | Flock Together T3 | Rapid Recovery | Killer Aptitude T3 As always, Wolfhive had the best ideas. They could come back here, after all this was done, after they werent sick anymore as a family. It... It could be like a new beginning, something to look forward too among all this horribleness to stop Mudhound from sinking into despair. And suddenly even if the tripod felt like their world was still ending, horrible and dark, there was a light at the end of the tunnel, or the cavern, so to speak. They had Wolfhive, who understood the worst of this sickness as someone who was in the same boat as Mudhound, and they had Bumblestar, their ever dependable stable elder sister they could lean on. As long as the hornet had that, had their family they could, and would, come back from this. There was hope. It was an emotional thought and tears welled in the tripods eyes, tail wagging as they oh so gently butt their head against their nephews shoulder, a true grin flitting across their face like the first breath of spring. "Y-yeah. The just three of us when everything is better. You got the best ideas Woofie..." The tripod withdrew, heart hurting on hurts to see how badly he looked and coughed, suddenly tired and ready to go. "T-thanks for coming with me, Im really glad youre family." Reaching up Mudhound pressed their paw to one side of Wolfhives print, dwarfing his but sharing the space perfectly. Two perfect paw prints, for now, in a big space marking the duo who'd found it, two parts of a family that could fill out the space later. Two prints whos makers would never be here together again. "Theyre perfect. Now lets get back before Spider-dude finds out were gone and kills us." The journey back would be long and hard for the sick duo, and Mudhound would probably need to carry him the last stretch, but for a final adventure it wasnt half bad. @BEAR. |
Re: Thunderbird Cavern
https://warriorcatsonline.com/forums...ictureid=51027 Mudhound Thunderclan Hornet | They/them | 40 Moons Bilingual T3 | Flock Together T3 | Rapid Recovery | Killer Aptitude T3 Slowly blinking awake the tripod gazed at the side of the warriors den, idly noting that it was late in the morning with most cats having filed out long ago. It was strange, how grief went. They'd been doing better of late, talking for the first time since Wolfhives death, active and doing things finally, pained but doing their best to move on they lost their nephew so suddenly. But then there were days like this, where the pain was back as badly as ever and there seemed no point of getting out of their nest. Except... Well except grief was funny, and had a habit of distorting and fading memories in the worst of it. In their dreams Mudhound had gotten one of those memories back of an adventure that was too much to remember that now was too much to forget. They couldnt forget, not when they'd told their nephew that after all this was over they'd.... they'd all.... It felt like a betrayal now, not to take Bumblestar to that place, even if it hurt to do so. Padding into their sisters den the tripod was more present then they'd been in awhile, gently nudging the leader until she was paying attention and beginning to speak. "Bumble-sis I.... Before... Everything became worst me and W-woofie we... we went for a walk. I-I couldnt be in that place, not after and it was smart for me to not be alone s-so we walked." It was hard not to sob, remembering it now, their last outing before Wolfhive had passed so suddenly. A part of Mudhound tormented themself, wondering if the trip had sapped the last bit of life the tom had but.... But he'd held out for some time even after that. In truth it was probably the hopelessness instead. "M-me and Wolfhive found something really cool and decided we'd show you, w-when we were better." The tears that'd slowly started as they spoke didnt stop now. "I know its not the same but... We're going. We're going now. So you can see the cave so-" So the last unresolved want of Wolfhive could be done. And the tripod wasnt taking no for an answer. Bumblestar would be carried, if it came to that. @dino. |
Re: Thunderbird Cavern
How is Mudhound doing better than she is?
It was the first thing that came to Bumblestar's mind. How is Mudhound, famously emotionally erratic, doing better than Bumblestar, typically grit and gravel? Mudhound is capable of standing on their own four - three - paws. Bumblestar? She may as well have been dead. She'd certainly been acting like it for the past several weeks, moping in a pile at the back of her den. Mudhound's words were acknowledged with nothing. Not a shift, nor a prickle of fur, nor a flick of an ear. Bumblestar opened her eyes to stare at the wall she was pressed up against, but said nothing in response. 'Wolfhive'. She wanted to scream. Internally, she was, a string of curses directed toward Mudhound and herself and her ancestors and the cats she'd sent out to find the damned cure in the first place. She swore in silence for a long minute longer before pushing herself unsteadily to her paws and turning back to her sibling. Dull green eyes met golden ones. "Fine." [ @Rani ] |
Re: Thunderbird Cavern
https://warriorcatsonline.com/forums...ictureid=51027 Mudhound Thunderclan Hornet | They/them | 40 Moons Bilingual T3 | Flock Together T3 | Rapid Recovery | Killer Aptitude T3 You see Bumblestar while you may have power leadership brains and girlbossery Mudhound had this little thing called ~emotional intelligence~. They didnt bury their emotions in work and suppression and instead felt and processed them, yanno like you should do instead of bottling it up until they choked you from within. So while it meant they were an utter wreck for a time, drowning in feelings and staring down the barrel of it all where the repressors might be holding it together in the moment better, it also meant that in time they were up and doing better first. Because they'd reached acceptance. The grief and pain wasnt gone but Mudhound had accepted it'd happened and was working to do what the cats they'd lost wouldve wanted from them and move forward. Not rot in a den hating the world. The tripod didnt blame their sister of course, stars they got it more then anyone, and they were still suffering, but they were also here downright shoving Bumblestar out of camp as soon as she'd stood, flicking a tail to Spiderthroat in a silent 'youre in charge' on the way out. The walk was... Well long and awkward, the two had to reach the edge of the territory after all, but eventually as they were prone to do the tripod broke the silence, voice still shaky. "I think I tanked the hornets reputation recently by the way." The laugh was a bit watery and broken, more ironic then Mudhound was prone to. "I was out with a patrol (cant remember who) and saw a hawk in the distance and just broke down crying. Honestly I cant even tell if it was because of.. well yanno or that I HATE hawks in general after all my bad experiences with them. Crazy that I couldnt tell...." You'd think you'd know why you were crying. "Is that.... Normal? Youre the only other cat who.... Gets it, right now but I havent really seen you a lot and I dont wanna bother you in your den if too many cats is part of the hurt." That was another part of grief, when just normal interaction was too much and hurt rather then hindered. Mudhound had been rather afraid of pushing in too much and hurting Bumble-sis but also afraid of staying away and leaving her oh so alone. So they didnt know how much of the weird parts of grief they felt were also plaguing their sister or if it was just them being weird. Suppose Mudhound would find out soon if reminders of Wolfhive caused breakdowns like reminders of Redhawk did for them soon, arriving at the entrance, the sight choking them up. "I... I dunno how no one found it before us but me and Woofie followed the noise and- and its like nothing we've ever seen before." Another wet chuckle "We both thought it was soooo cool. T-thought maybe we could celebrate here a-after when things were good again. I-its safe but watch out for the annoying weird flying rat thing." Mudhound was gonna whack the first one to try and attack them, they'd decided. In honor of their nephew. It hadnt hurt him but its stupid squeak attack and flapping had disrespected him and no dummy like that should live in a world where he didnt get to. @dino. |
Re: Thunderbird Cavern
It may have been awkward to Mudhound, but Bumblestar was oblivious. Being lost in one's own thoughts didn't leave much room for outside examination. She wasn't even really aware of where her sibling was leading her, and only looked up once Mudhound spoke.
"...Not sure if I'm the best judge for normal," she muttered, looking away again. "Don't even know what's part of the hurt 'n what isn't. Some days it feels like nothing. Others feel like it's everything." She wondered if that made any sense. A major part of her didn't really care whether it did or not. 'Annoying rat thing' was what made her zone back in again and register everything said prior. Something Mudhound and Wolfhive found. Bumblestar lifted her eyes, scanning the cavern's entrance. Something flew at her face as she nudged her way through the vines and lichen hanging in front of the entrance, and she ducked with a startled snort, watching it flap around uselessly in the sky before disappearing into the tree-line. Annoying rat thing. Bat, more like. She pushed the rest of the way in, ears flicking with the sound of water dripping into little pools. It looked and sounded like a safe haven. Thick vegetation, the soothing rush of water from the twin falls outside - Bumblestar sucked in a slow breath and let it out, closing her eyes for a moment before she reopened them. "You 'n Wolfhive found this?" [ @Rani ] |

https://warriorcatsonline.com/forums...ictureid=51027 Mudhound Thunderclan Hornet | They/them | 40 Moons Bilingual T3 | Flock Together T3 | Rapid Recovery | Killer Aptitude T3 RAT THING!!!! Unwilling to let the bat, the same bat that they were pretty sure swooped Wolfhive too, escape Mudhound briefly abandoned their sister to bolt after the thing, wildly throwing themself into the air to tackle it to the ground. It was a sloppy catch and Mudhound was possibly thrashing the poor dead thing more violently then it deserved but JUSTICE FOR WOOFIE AND BUMBLE-SIS!!!! DIE! Eventually they did pad over to rejoin their sister, putting the bat down to the side and asking "Do you know if these things are edible? There is a lot of them in the cave which could be useful." They werent very meaty though so maybe not. Just shrill and irritating. Sitting and soaking in the quiet calm of the cave Mudhounds voice was subdued compared to before as they replied "Yeah, we followed the noises and found this place. Its very quiet isnt it, like here is separated from everywhere and everyone else. It..... It helped. At least for a bit made it feel like stuff didnt exist." Like Redhawk wasnt dead, like they and Wolfhive werent sick with no hope. They hadnt been able to linger for long in their state, but it'd been an escape that Bumblestar might need. "And theres one more thing, follow me." Padding further into the cavern, away from the water but still damp and cool but not cold Mudhound led Bumblestar to the mud wall, the one with two paw prints stuck deep into it, one large and one smaller, side by side. The sight was enough to cause tears to well and silently flow again, and the tripod raised a paw before pulling it back again, fearful of disturbing one of the few signs their nephew had walked this earth. "I-I... We, we did this, thought it might be cool for every hornet and high rank to mark the wall. The paw prints stick but its soft so the bad ones can be wiped away a-and... and now Im really h-happy we did." He was here, Wolfhive had been here he had lived nothing could take that away and here was proof. "W-we wanted you to have this place too a-and I think he'd like it if you took the other space next to his print." So their little family could be immortalized and never separated in some way, no matter how fate turned. @dino. |
Re: Thunderbird Cavern
A glance at the now-deceased bat before she shrugged one shoulder. "Probably. Give it to Spiderthroat 'n make him try it. That way it won't be too much of a loss if it's poisonous or somethin'." All jokes, of course. She would never want to poison her deputy. Whack him upside the head for stress relief, sure, but that was fairly tame as far as most impulses went.
Bumblestar's ears twitched again as she listened to Mudhound speak. She slowly trailed after her sibling, scanning the rest of the cave as it opened up to her gaze. Lush moss, small pools, ground the seemed to sink ever so slightly beneath her paws where she stepped. She could get lost in here - go for a night walk and come sleep beneath the waterfall whenever she needed something to snap her out of her haze. The hardest part would be convincing herself to stand. Then she saw what her sibling had intended to show her. Her throat went dry and closed up. She stared at the prints indented in the soft walls, silent for a long while, before she slowly lifted a paw and allowed it to hover over what she knew was Wolfhive's. "When-" Her voice cracked. 'When did you do this?' she wanted to ask, but couldn't bring herself to finish the question. Instead, she swallowed. She had seen him. At least, she thought she had. Glimpses, flickers in the corners of her vision that vanished whenever she turned in an attempt to catch him fully. Sometimes she thought she was going crazy. It wouldn't be too far off, would it? Seeing her dead son when no one else did? Tears didn't fall - she'd lost the ability to cry at some point - but her eyes stung and she blinked hard to make the pain go away. Carefully, fearing a sudden slip that would ruin his imprint and the last physical reminder she had of him, she pressed her paw against the wall beside it. It was smaller than his, and much smaller, than Mudhound's. If she were able, she'd have laughed at the difference. [ @Rani ] ══════════════ Post 58 WAIT FOR QUACKYYYYY; she can’t miss out on an excuse to leave camp, especially to a new piece of land Muddy-buddy found. Well..Muddy-buddy and Muddy’s buddies; so she spawned into the clearing, bounding over to Muddy. Muddy seemed to be healing fine; well, after the two so-called healers were off the ranks and got replaced with new ones; the apprentice seemed okay, the Tree warrior was a bit odd but was ten times more useful than Fadingpaw. Where did Hollowpaw go anyway? Unless he randomly shows up again out of nowhere, It probably wouldn’t matter much to her, really "How did you come across it, Muddy?" they were like going on a field trip to a cave!! With everything that's been happening, the Quacker didn't mind more chances to bother more cats. Oh yea, she hasn't looked at Sprucey in a while "How're you feeling, Muddy?" Must be better after those evil river monsters were slain! "How do you think Sprucey's doin'? Do you think he'll join too?" uuuuuuh probs not "how cool is the cavern? What kind of stuff does it have?? It has a hornet-high-rank memory wall?" hornet-high-rank-memory-wall was a bit long for a name, Quacky [if this seems messy it is] |

Re: Thunderbird Cavern
Roosterpaw knew they probably shouldn't hiss at these cats, but when Darkwater approached and got close - they did. Short, simple, just a little 'back off' because they were much too overstimulated and on edge. For good measure Roosterpaw scooted away a bit, side-eyeing Darkwater as if he stank.

Re: Thunderbird Cavern
Not closing in on Roosterpaw proved to be the better choice; their guard wasn't down, but they relaxed just enough to show they weren't going to instantly ditch. They just needed their bubble respected.
It was an understatement to say there was too many cats - it was Too Much Everything. In less than a moon their life was ripped upside down; their home destroyed and abandoned, and now.. They were here. For moons it'd just been Quill and them, and now the population had exploded. They couldn't even count all these cats! Rooster huffed and looked away for a moment. They didn't really want to stick around all these cats, they were a little anxious about leaving camp - what if it was gone when they returned??? - but... quiet time did sound nice. Hunting, to be seen. "okay." [ @sylvia26 ] |

Cicadapaw | He/him | ThunderClan Apprentice (47/100) | @Fenrir | ꊞ○ꊞ○ꊞ○ꊞ○ꊞ○ꊞ○ꊞ Cicadapaw padded over at Pineblossom’s call, offering her a respectful dip of his head in greeting. Amidst the chaos of the otter attacks and the abrupt shift in leadership, he had nearly forgotten about new piece of ThunderClan territory and the new honor it represented. But as Mudhound addressed the Clan, rekindling the memory for all of them, a fresh flicker of curiosity stirred in him. Thunderbird Cavern, he mused in his head. That seems like a cool enough name. Turning back to his mentor - "I forgot to tell you earlier - but congratulations on becoming a Hornet, Pineblossom!" he meowed, warmth in his amber eyes. His mentor would be placing her pawprint in the cavern alongside his father and the others today, which he knew was a great accomplishment. |

She/Her | Silver Tongue T1 | 11 Moons | #BugFamily Header: sushisiu Hornetpaw's ear perked up, as Mudhound summoned the clan in a... Rather strange manner. Still, she crept over to their call. Was this really how ThunderClan's elite spoke? She couldn't help but raise an eyebrow, not understanding how such an important cat could talk so giddily and be so excited about flower crowns. Though, she supposed it was a little like Butterflybrook, wasn't it? She'd thought Butterflybrook would be one of the last in their litter to get a warrior name, considering her unserious seeming nature - and then she was the first. Hm. Maybe she couldn't judge a cat by their... Way of speaking? If only there was a good saying for that. A bird by its song? A herb by its colour? Eh, whatever. She grabbed a mouse from the kill pile (if Mudhound recommended snacks, Hornetpaw wouldn't be one to refuse) and joined the group.
