I personally really do like Jayfeather's character! Mostly because he breaks away from the previous protagonists and is more unique in characterization. Here you have a grumpy medicine cat, makes sense given he was forced into the role by cats who already had their shot at live, not to mention that everyone expected him to end up there anyways because they never believed in him in the first place. His grumpiness is a refresher from every other protagonist which usually is cheery, or friendly, or something relatively positive. Additionally, this gives him much more characterization when he isn't grumpy. Like when he's interacting with Briarlight, there's a notable difference in how he interacts, he's not one sided, Jay feather just breaks the mold so people focus on that part of him.

I love Jayfeather, he's one of my favorite cats! I like that he actually has a sense of humor (like in one scene where a kit says "watch this!" and he just kinda thumbs up the kit)

Also I really relate to his family drama as well, at least his pov of it.

I LOVE JAYFEATHER! He is very silly and i think its cool that he's both blind AND a med cat! He is just a grumpy dude and i love him for that. also his wife is a stick <3
