OrangeFlower, originally named LeafKit, was born and raised within ThunderClan. Her early kithood seemed to be filled with the same warmth and innocence as any kit's—endless games in the nursery, stories shared under the moonlight, and dreams of one day becoming a brave warrior. From the outside, LeafKit’s life seemed perfect, but beneath the surface, it was far more complicated.
LeafKit's mother was a strict and demanding she-cat, who believed that the only way to survive and excel in the Clan was through discipline. She had lost multiple kits in a previous litter to sickness and starvation, and her fear of losing more turned into a harsh obsession with making LeafKit strong and independent. Her mother would push LeafKit harder than the other kits, expecting perfection in everything, from the way she crouched to pounce to how she held her tongue when speaking to warriors.
To the Clan, her mother was simply a stern but loving mother. But behind closed eyes, LeafKit would often be berated for her mistakes. If her pounce was too clumsy or if she showed any sign of weakness, her mothers sharp words would pierce her heart: "ThunderClan doesn’t raise weaklings, LeafKit. You have to be better than this. I can’t lose you too." LeafKit learned early on to mask her emotions, trying her hardest to be the perfect daughter her mother demanded.
Her father, a distant figure, was hardly ever present in her life. He was a quiet tom who preferred to focus on his warrior duties rather than get involved with family matters. LeafKit grew up constantly craving his approval, but he never seemed to notice her efforts, leaving her feeling invisible. This fueled her insecurity, making her desperate to prove herself to anyone who would pay attention.
By time LeafKit became an apprentice, her father passed and her mother went mad and ran away. She wished for a name change as to get away from the pressure from her mother and the nagging of her voice in the young cats head. Her apprenticeship should have been a time of growth and learning. However, the pressure from her mother didn’t let up even through her disappearance. Her mother’s voice would often criticize her training sessions, her constant pressure still haunting OrangePaw.
Despite this, OrangePaw remained outwardly cheerful. She had learned to mask her anxiety with a bright smile, becoming the cat-pleaser everyone knew her as. She was eager to help her Clanmates with anything, often taking on extra duties just to hear a simple “thank you” or “well done.” Deep down, she was terrified of disappointing those around her, fearing they would see her as weak, just as her mother had always implied.
OrangeFlower earned her warrior name after a steady, though unremarkable, apprenticeship. Her warrior ceremony was bittersweet; while her Clanmates cheered her new name, she couldn't shake the feeling that her parents would only be mildly satisfied, not proud. It left a hollow ache in her heart, one she couldn’t quite figure out how to fill.
Now, as OrangeFlower, she does her best to fit in as the cheerful, helpful warrior everyone believes her to be. She spends most of her free time in the nursery, where she feels safest surrounded by the innocence of kits who look up to her without judgment. Her dream of becoming a permanent queen stems from her desire to give kits the love and kindness she never felt she received.
But her insecurities still linger. OrangeFlower remains easily flustered, often second-guessing her actions and struggling with the belief that she’s not good enough. Her eagerness to please and her constant need to prove her worth hide a deeper fear—that one day, her Clanmates will see her as the weak, insecure cat her mother always seemed to believe she was. She tried to simply not think or worry about criticism by not thinking much at all, instead just letting her energy take hold.
