Sade was about to approach Atazi, until she heard what they were talking about. She huffed, ears flattening against her head. "Great. More dumb lovey stuff," She turned and headed the other way.

"Look, I... would love to help, but I know nothing about it." Atazi protested, before leaping out of the water and running towards Sade.
Tanya frowned. "Hmm..."

Koja hummed slightly to himself as he prodded the water lightly with a paw, singing a song that he used to sing with Kion when he was younger.

Vexy stared at her with wide blue eyes, mouth hanging open.

"Kila calls you Huckleberry, doesnt she?" Kion smirked slightly. "And Ranger Rick, and Hop-Along."
"Thats because you two read way too much into that one song." Koja pointed out with a small grin.
"Still, its true." Kion teased, leaping up the rocks.
"You're both idiots so shut up or i'll kill you im trying to sleep!" Kila yelled from inside Pride Rock, and there was a burst of laughter from Vexy as well.
"She scares me." Koja said, looking toward the cave.
"She's Kila, bro," Kion blinked. "She scares everyone."

"Hmm." A hyena pup maybe a bit older than Kion watched the Pridelands from the shadows, a devious little smile on her face. She looked sort of like Janja, but with a few tan spots here and there, and dark blue eyes.
Her brother stood beside her, staring into the Pridelands with dark green eyes that almost looked soulless. He was almost the spitting image of Janja.
Beside them stood another female pup, her curious bright blue eyes fixed on the Pridelands with mild interest. She looked a little bit like Cheezi, a small, petite appearance, but not as crazy looking. In fact, she was quite beautiful.
And next to her was a bulky hyena pup, his face cold. He looked like Chungu, with broad shoulders and a bulky appearance, but much more handsome and young.
The first pup, Mal, let her tongue slide slowly over her jaws.
Klaiz, her brother, lowered his chin and gave a soft growl.
Taliah stared deep into the green fields, her lips curled into a smirk.
Clai rolled his shoulders in a relaxed way, looking very calm.

"You guys good?" Mal crouched in a bush, watching a crowd of zebra.
"We're not chasing these guys, right?" Klaiz growled from a tree, his soulless eyes piercing Mal's.
"Of course not." Mal hissed out. "These guys are bait."
"Ah," Clai rolled his shoulders.
Taliah watched curiously.
"Okay," Mal nudged her head toward Clai. "Clai, you chase the young zebra to the lake. Hide them in bushes."
"Got it." Clai stretched.
"Taliah, separate the babies from the group and run them toward the gorge. Hide them behind and under rocks."
"On it!" Taliah barked, keeping her voice soft.
"Klaiz, take the older zebras and take them toward the desert border. Just... Chase them into the sand and run them off."
"Will do." Klaiz tensed.
"I'll take the leader." Mal focused her eyes on Muhimu. "Clai, go!"
Clai shot out of his hiding place, and grabbed a young zebra by his legs, slinging him toward a bush. Then with a growl, he kicked another one toward it, as the other zebras began screaming, panicking and running. Clai paid no attention to the stomping feet; He pushed the last young zebra ahead and shot toward them, sending them each running in the direction of the lake with frightened screams.
"Taliah!"
Taliah shot from the bush and spun around a zebra, heading for a young baby who could barely stand on her feet. The baby yelled out and quickly shot off, but stumbled as she ran, crying out for her mother. Taliah circled around her, gathering a few more baby zebra into her group before, with a howl, she shot forward, sending each of them stumbling and scrambling for the gorge.
"My babies!" Wailed one zebra, ready to take off after them.
"Klaiz!" Mal yelled.
"You're not goin' nowheres!" Klaiz growled, leaping off of the tree and landing in front of the zebra.
Mal shot out beside him, and in one swift movement, she was in front of Muhimu. "Go!"
Klaiz ran forward, and kicked the zebra with his front paws. Then he shot toward the small group.
"PANIC AND RUN!!!!!!" The zebras yelled, turning and rushing off toward the desert.
Klaiz winked at his sister before trotting after them, keeping them all together as he ran them toward the desert.
"Why are you doing this?" Muhimu backed away, obviously frightened.
Mal lowered her chin, and licked her lips. "Just do what I tell you to do, zebra... And nobody will be hurt." She lunged.
With a frightened gasp, Muhimu turned and took off toward the Outlands.
"Its too easy!" Mal cackled, and followed.

(I'm not gonna bother Mal and the hyenas because I actually wanna see where this goes x3)
"Heh," Sade smiled. "I couldn't agree more--" she stopped and blinked. Her ears twitched, along with her nose.

Sade scrambled to her paws, her nose twitching even more. Her ears flicked, trying to detect the slightest sound.

Atazi rolled over onto her feet, gazing at Sade with concern.

Sade took one final sniff, and that was enough for her. "Run." she muttered.

Atazi stared at Sade for a moment, shaking slightly. "Sade. What's going on?!"

[Stario&Co.]

"I said run! Now!" Sade spun around and shoved into Atazi, pushing her out the way of the crocodile's jaws.
"Drat!" the crocodile hissed, baring his teeth. "That was my dinner!"
"Go get the rest of the guard!" Sade squeaked, facing the croc with extended claes.

Atazi narrowed her eyes, and jumped right on the crocodile's jaws, snapping them shut and flicking her tail. "I'm not leaving you with some filthy reptile." She snapped, jumping off of him and standing next to Sade.

[Stario&Co.]

"Be real, Atazi!" Sade jumped back when the crocodile snapped at them. "I have short legs, you'll get there faster to warn them. I'm buying you time!"

"Exactly, you have shorter legs! Do you even know how fast these things are?" Atazi pushed Sade out of the way as the crocodile attempted to snap their jaws around them. "You may be buying me time, but what am I going to do if I come back and find out that this crocodile had a cub sandwich for lunch?!"

Mal skidded to a stop, watching Muhimu from above as she made her way through a canyon, still believing that Mal was chasing. With a growl, Mal let out a soft whistle, watching as Greg and Poison shot out after the zebra.

"Have fun, boys." Mal smirked, then turned and bounded back into the Pridelands, making sure to keep hidden as she headed for a group of gazelle.

Klaiz nipped at the zebras heels, not even bothered as a few of them kicked him across the face. He had run them through a lake, so noone would catch the scent.

He waited until they were deep into the desert, then let out a soft yip. A few tigers shoved their heads from the bushes, and their jaws watered when they saw the zebra, immediately giving chase. Klaiz made a U-Turn, heading back for the Pridelands with his tongue lolling from his jaws and his eyes stone-cold.

Clai had done what Mal said and went to the lake, but it was near the Backlands, away from the Pridelands. The hyena pup kicked the last young zebra under a thorn bush, ignoring its pleads for help as he tied a vine around its muzzle, silencing it. Then he looked at the others, who were struggling against their own holds, unable to make a single sound. Clai nodded, satisfied.

Raising his head, he gave a soft sniff, and nodded. Mal had requested no harm to come to the little ones.. Yet, so Clai stuck with the best way to hold them silently but not hurt them. Without a word, he spun on his heel and took off, eyes flashing with amusement.

Back in a gorge in the Pridelands, Taliah gently nudged one of the baby zebras behind a rock, shushing him softly. She did the same to the others, then with surprising strength, she rolled a rock forward to block the entrance, muffling their cries. Honestly, Taliah felt a little bad, but shook it off.

The hyena cast a glance down the gorge, then turned and leaped up, using the rocks to help her back onto land. She shook out her fur, then took off toward where Mal had said to meet her, ears pricked.

"I may be small," Sade smirked at her. "but I gotta few tricks up by claws. Now go! Trust me!"

Atazi sighed. "Fine! But if you're dead when I come back, I'm so gonna kill you." She bounded off in the direction of the Lion Guard, beginning to shout and let out the loudest roars she could muster, trying to draw their attention.

"I guess I could settle for dessert first," the crocodile licked his jaws.
"You wanna dace, leather head?" Sade snarled, crouching down. "Fine. Let's dance."

[Random Melody]

"So now what?" Taliah stretched. The four had finished the gazelles, putting the babies in the gorge, the children in the thorns, running the older ones into the desert and cutting off their trail at the border, and Mal put Swala in the desert for Rei. Now they sat near a creek, enjoying the silence.
"We wait. Its only a matter of time before the little egret spots the babies in the gorge. And the children in the thorn bushes." Mal explained. "After that, the Guard will probably split up, because we already know those kiddies wont last too long without food or water and they'll know this too. So the hippo'll probably go off to free the babies from the big rocks, and the honey badger'll most likely help the children from the thorns. We'll give the cheetah a little "help" finding the scent of the older zebra and gazelles, so she'll try to track them. The egret'll be all too easy to pick off whichever direction he goes."
"So you're just leading them on a wild goose chase?" Klaiz asked, skeptical. "Why?"
"Because they would never let their precious leader," Mal flicked her tail. "Go off into the Outlands alone."
"Why would he go into the Outlands?" Klaiz raised an eyebrow. "Swala and Muhimu are dead by now, knowing Rei, Poison and Greg."
Mal rolled her eyes a little. "I know. But you see, he'll have no choice but to do what we say," She looked across the lands. "Or more so what his amazing older half brother says."
"Huh?" Clai's eyes widened in confusion.
"Koja is working on getting that poor, naive cub wrapped right around his paw for Usiku as we speak." Mal replied cheekily.

I want to take over the Pridelands again, so yes.
But first, the Lion Guard needs to rescue Sade :/

(This crocodile is actually a mole, and he's gonna capture Sade and take her back to Usiku and whatever Usiku's brother's name is (I forgot)x3)

(If that happens, I'm going to go berserk just like the first time, get all the hyenas I can under my iron claws, and with my new subjects I will track down Usiku and all of his goons, even the croc, and rip their guts out before letting my hyenas feast. Then I will rescue Sade like the friend I am and rule over the Outlands with her as my queen FRIEND!)

"Hm." Koja ran his tongue over his paws, watching a baby bird trying to escape a vulture's claws.
"Whatcha doin'?" Kion asked curiously, leaping down Pride Rock to land beside him.
"Just watching a bird try to have lunch." Koja said calmly, flicking his tail.
Kion followed his gaze, and stiffened. "Oh no you dont, vulture," He growled, storming forward, only to be stopped and pulled back. He spun around. "Koja!"
"We werent invited, Kion," Koja nodded calmly toward the two birds. "Look."
Kion immediately turned, just in time to see the baby bird kick the vulture across the face and plummet to the ground, burying itself into a hole to hide. The vulture squawked angrily before flying off. Kion blinked.
"Not everybody is your responsibility, regardless of what Simba and Mom told you to believe." Koja stared daggers at his half-brother. "The Pridelands dont rest on your shoulders."
Kion frowned at that, looking away uneasily.
"I know that's how you feel." Koja chided. "But its not really what it is. They tell you all this stuff about letting the Circle of Life guide you.... But if you keep tampering with it, what good is it, really?"
"I.." Kion trailed off, struggling to come up with an answer. But honestly, something deep down inside him was screaming at him that Koja was right.

"But nothing," Koja shook his head. "You have to decide which set of rules you want to live by, Kion. Your Lion Guard's "Save Everyone" rule, or the Circle of Life. Or," Koja lifted his gaze to meet his younger brothers. "You go back to living a normal life, and forget about all this crap about protecting the Pridelands and defending the Circle of Life. You're just a cub, Kion, you should be living a normal, cub life, not worrying about every single animal out there. Kion, as much as you think you want to, you cant save everyone.... And you shouldnt have to."
Kion stared at him, dumbfounded, still trying to get rid of that nagging voice that was repeating, He's right, he's right, he's right.

Take that!" Sade sacked the crocodile's snout and jumped back. "This all you got, leather face!"

Sade's heart nearly stopped. She slowly turned around and gasped, looking up with her ears back.
"Hello, little niece," Giza chuckled venomously, licking his jaws.
"KOJA!!"

Koja stiffened, then took off, leaving Kion behind.
"What the..." Kion stared after him, bewildered.

"I'm afraid I can't do that," Giza grinned. "Your father doesn't know you that well, and I'm sure he's dying to meet you."
Sade's ears went back in fear, realizing now that she couldn't escape

Koja skidded to a stop, staring around in confusion. Then he caught a wiff of the familiar smell of his uncle, and winced. "This wasnt part of the plan Dad..." He growled, but decided against giving chase, knowing that neither Usiku nor Giza would try to hurt his sister.

"Hm." Kion had made his way onto a rock and was staring down a hill, watching a baby elk struggle to get himself out of a mud pit.

Kion's ears flicked in silence as he watched, eyebrows furrowing.

"No problem pal," Beshte chuckled, flapping his ears "just doing my job! Now go on and find your mama, and stay away from mud holes, alright?"

Kion shook his head a little, turning away. Koja was wrong. He had to be wrong. The cub let out a soft sigh, closing his eyes for a moment, tail twitching.

(I'll be honest sometimes I turn on the shower just to escape my family. I was crying and my sister thought I was getting in my feelings XD. I was so sad x3)
Beshte watched him go, then turned and walked up to Kion. "Hey Kion, didn't you see the elk before I got here? Why didn't you help?"

Kion winced a little, opening his eyes to look over at Beshte. Then, with a shrug, he turned and leaped off the rock. "You got there first." He lied, biting back the words he really wanted to say, but at the same time, the words he hated even came to his head. Besides. The kid got himself stuck, he can get himself out.

Tanya flicked her ear, raising her head. Was that a... zebra? Jumping off of her rock, she investigated around the area. Nothing. The sound came from her left, still faint. Breaking into a sprint, she skidded to a stop a few minutes later seeing an adult zebra trapped in a mud pit. Searching around for a stick, she grabbed a large branch in her maw. "Grab on," She spoke around the branch, holding it out for the zebra to grab. After they did so, Tanya began pulling her out slowly.

(I think Usiku's weakness was his murder of his mate. Like, he didn't mean it and I think he truly loved her, but he got exceedingly angry with her and accidentally killed her. This could be what Giza used to turn him against everyone else, essentially making Giza the reason Usiku is evil. What Giza didn't account for, however, is that big brother always has his way, so Giza isn't in charge like he thought he would be. Instead, he's the deputy to Usiku.)

I wouldn't ever want to be like a normal kid. What we do, thinking about all the animals we've saved....brings me happiness, not stress."

Kion blinked, silent for a few minutes. He seemed to be considering those words, trying to believe them, but he just... Couldnt. Not as much as he would have liked to. So many questions, thoughts, words, ran through his head. Too overwhelmed to really think about what he was saying, the cub suddenly blurted out the one thing he'd wondered all this time, but the one question he'd always been too scared to ask anyone, not knowing what they would think of him if he did. And not willing to find out. But now it kind of slipped out on its own accord, and Kion barely noticed. "But whats the point in saving people?" He blinked again, his amber eyes distant as he looked across the Pridelands. "They're just gonna die eventually... What should it matter when?"

Koja's lips twitched into a smirk, listening silently. Then with a soft snicker to himself, he turned and headed off toward Pride Rock. Oh, yeah. I've got him alright.

Beshte blinked, staring down at him. "Well I usually see it as if it were me." he stared up into the clouds. "There's so much I still want to do with my life, so many things I want to see. Maybe even fall in love one day and make a little life of my own. If I die, I can never do that. I want everyone to experience what life has to offer. That's why I save people."

Let's start with Kion.

Kion is the leader of the guard in both threads. He's faithful, caring and loving towards his family and friends, and always makes time for them. However, he lets what others say manipulate his thoughts to easily. And when people try and help, it's usually not effective and he doesn't listen. He'll let one thing control his way of thought, which can resort to some problems.

Koja, well on this thread at least, is both a liar and manipulator. He does show he cares, yes, but he still works with his father and helps him take control of the Pridelands. He's obnoxious and a tease, but also a bit humorous. He's also a bit oblivious to when he hurts or angers someone, or tends not to care.

Fuli is snappy and a bit hostile. She never trusts anyone off the bat. She has shown a seductive side of her however, and is a bit of a flirt. This helps her get things out of people that the others in the guard usually can't. She has shown a more caring and soft side, especially around Ono and the rest of her friends, showing that of she gets to know you enough, her fire with diminish

Beshte is very trusting and kind. While he's a big guy, he's shown how much of a softy he is. He doesn't really get angered or impatient with anyone, and loves helping others and giving advise. Beshte is like said before, very trusting. So when someone breaks that trust, it's very hard for him. Also if he's not careful, he could break something.

Samuel is very shy and timid, and lets others bully him to easily. Despite his abilities, he lets people push him around. He has shown how devoted he is to what he loves however, as well as how much he cares for those around him. Despite his shyness, he'll suck it up to help those in need of his services.

Tanya is a bit snappy and hyperactive, and gets offended easily. She does have the best interest in mind, true, but she doesn't always respond in the best way. She's quirky and random, as well as a little love sick. I don't know much about her yet, so I can't say much. That's what I got so far

Kila laughed a little, although her eyes flickered with an unreadable expression. "You wouldnt believe me if I told you."
"Try me." Kion challenged with a grin.
Kila glanced at him, then rolled her eyes and gave a small smirk. "Alright, fine. Only on one condition."
"What?"
"I havent played tag in a while." Kila stretched as she walked. "And I can tell you havent had some normal cub-fun, either. So, you catch me, I tell you everything."
"Deal." Kion snickered.
"Great." Kila winked at him. With that, she bounded forward, passing Beshte. She leaped onto one of the rocks, and kicked herself off, landing on the other side of the watering hole. Then she turned to watch her brother, smirking. "Then come catch me, slug head!"
"You're on!" Kion shot after her through the water, not even caring that he was getting his fur wet.
Kila let out a loud shriek of laughter, spinning around and darting off. "I wont make it easy for you!"
"You wont have to!" Kion retorted, taking off after her with a smile.

Usiku focused his eyes on Sade. "Your mother... I loved her dearly. She was the brilliant sun, the one who helped me keep my anger from spilling out. However... she was the one who took the brunt of it, a few days after your birth. We were out, walking along one of our favorite paths through the Outlands while Koja was watching over you. We were having a minor argument about giving you both to a pair of more... adept parents, and she didn't want to deal with the fact that we couldn't feed you two. Heck, we couldn't feed ourselves since Zira had control over the limited food supply." Usiku looked away from Sade. "I had kept my anger bottled up, and it had to spill out at the worst time... I lashed out at her, raising my voice, roaring at her. Ever hear the expression 'blind with rage'? That was exactly what happened. I couldn't see. I couldn't think. She tried to calm me down, but I hit her with my paw, knocking her down and..." He inhaled sharply, closing his eyes so that Sade wouldn't see the tears threatening to spill out. His shoulders shuddered, and he lowered his head. "There had been a rock right where her head landed. Seeing her laying so still, so peacefully... I calmed down in an instant and in that moment I understood why she had died so easily. I could count her ribs, I could see her bones. She was suffering, giving her share of food to you cubs, while I gave my food to her. We both were starving. And why? Why were starving?" He raised his head, eyes focused on the horizon where Priderock stood. "Because this land. The pride that rules over this land is selfish, hoarding all of the food and banishing those of us who don't conform to their precious 'Circle of Life'. Who spend time saving those who don't need saving, preventing those of us who need the food to live from hunting. Have you ever wondered why hyenas were banished from the Pridelands? It was because they were doing their jobs, finishing off the leftovers that the lions didn't eat. And the lions who live here are selfish, ignoring the plight of their own kind in the Outlands and demanding that we give them food if we ever step foot on their grass. One pride does not need this much land, and yet they keep it."

Usiku paused, sucking in a deep breath. His eyes threatened to spill out tears once more. "It's because of them that your mother died so easily. It was because of them that we were even having the argument that led up to their death. Every day, I regret what I had done. Every day, I don't want to get up. I want to die, to be with her once more. And every day, my anger for the Pridelands grows." He turned to look at her. "Do you see why it is pure folly for you to be here?" He asked softly.

"He lied to me....about everything," Sade's claws dug into the dry soil. Her eyes stung with tears that blurred her vision. "Why would he do this?"

"Because your brother would do anything to keep you from me, Sade." He said softly, lowering his head. "But, I'm not going to let this injustice continue any longer. Us Outlanders are banding together to take the territory for ourselves, so that our young can grow up strong and we can live. And... I would love if my daughter could be with me..." Usiku said softly, locking eyes with Sade. "If I could raise my daughter in the correct environment, in a place with many prides and a proper Circle of Life."

Sade sniffed, letting her tears fall down her face. She stared at the ground. "....I know a few crocodiles with a score to settle with Pridelanders."

Usiku nuzzled Sade gently. "Come on, let's go see those crocs and then we'll head home." He said, picking her up and setting her on his back.

Sade didn't respond. She was lost in thought. She felt betrayed, lied to, like she had been living a false life. She did know one thing. If the Pridelanders really were responsible for the death of her mother, she would make them pay even if Koja wasn't by her side.

Kion finally launched forward, ending up sending both him and Kila rolling through the tall grass. Kion pinned her right at the edge of the lake, grinning.
"Awww," Kila giggled. "Now I gotta tell you everything."
"Yep." Kion smiled. "So spill, Kilana."(Surprised? :3)
Kila grinned faintly as Kion used her full name, shaking her head. "Fine. Get comfortable, because its a long story."
"Alright." Kion rolled onto his side, gazing at her expectantly.
"Well," Kila sat down. "It all started the night I left...."

"Mother said cubs must stay in the den now,
The sun is gone and its time to go to bed.
We can laugh and play in the morning,
But now its time for us to rest our sleepy heads." Kila smirked to herself as she trotted along, keeping herself well hidden in the shadows as she slid quietly through the Outlands. A small crack of a twig she had stepped on alerted her presence to the other animals, but Kila wasnt concerned. "Right." Kila huffed to herself, fur fluffing up.
Snap.
"'Bout time." Kila took off running, hearing the sound of laughter and pawsteps following. The cub smiled to herself as she leaped up onto a bone hill, climbing up until she reached the top, where she turned to grin at her attackers.
"Well if it isnt the Princess." Shenzi sneered, closing in with Banzai and Ed beside her.
Kila merely smiled.
"Mmmmm, I bet she tastes delicious." Banzai growled, crouching to lunge.
Ed just laughed. However, at a quick snarl from Kila, both of the hyenas staggered back in surprise.
"Dont be scared. She's just a kitty." Shenzi taunted Kila, who grinned in reply.

"Dont go and be fooled by those fancy pants.
Its just her feline arrogance.
Flaunting her colors with tinkerly bells.
She thinks her litter box dont smell!"

"Alright!" Kila giggled, then suddenly leaped down, sliding down the bone hill. "Come catch me doggy!"
The hyenas took off after her.
Shenzi snarled, right behind Kila.

"Dont go and be fooooooooled!
By this crazy cat!"

"Dont go and listen to her crazy facts!
Not gonna tell you twice,
You better watch your back!" Kila sang, skidding to a stop as she came across a cliff.

"Dont go and be fooled!
The big bad cat's an act!" Shenzi snarled, closing in on her.

Kila smirked over her shoulder.

"Can your old canine philosophies.
Why dont you just go, and tend to your fleas?" She winked.

"Dont push me, mutt, im just not in the mood.
Your one swipe away from becoming cat food!" She taunted, spinning around to face her.

Shenzi growled, and lunged, claws raking down Kila's muzzle.
Kila bit down on Shenzi's paw, and slung her around, letting her drop halfway off the cliff. However, she held on to the hyena's paw with one of her own, keeping her hanging in the air.
Shenzi screamed, trying to claw herself up to safety. "Nonononono please please!"
"I dont wanna kill you." Kila peered down below. "You'll be safe." With that, she let Shenzi drop into a pile of bones. It would hurt, but wouldnt kill her. Then, the lioness watched Banzai and Ed both take flying leaps after their leader, and snickered.

"Not gonna tell ya twice.
You better watch your back.
Dont go and be fooled;
The big bad cat attacks." She turned, only to come face to face with Janja. "Oooh, another one."
Janja glared icily. "Who're you?"
"The name's Kila." Kila replied calmly. "You?"
"Janja."
"Nice to meet you." Kila said sweetly. "You know how to get to the deserted lands from here?"
Janja just stared.
Kila rolled her eyes. "Heeelllooooo,"
"Uh." Janja blinked. "You look familiar."
"I get that alot." Kila padded past him.
"No like... Really familiar." Janja followed her. "Where're you from."
"Doesnt matter." Kila shrugged. "Im not going back."
"How come?"
"Dont belong there." Kila said shortly. "So, you gonna help me or not?"
"Sure." Janja grumbled, padding past her. "Follow me."
Kila smirked, and followed.


It was morning by the time they reached the edge of the Outlands, but Kila had gotten where she'd wanted to go. The deserted lands were worse than the Outlands, worse than the Elephant Graveyard, honestly. And there was a road-like path leading off into the distance.
Janja shivered, stepping back. "Have fun. Good luck."
"Thanks." Kila looked over at him. During the few hours they'd spent together, Kila was warming up to him despite herself. He was like an annoying brother at this point. Reminded her of Kion in some ways. Kila shrugged, not dwelling on this too much, before turning and heading off into the lands without a word.

Soon the Outlands disappeared from her view, no matter how many times she looked back over her shoulder. She couldnt help but think of the life she was leaving behind. She loved her family dearly, but she couldnt help but think she didnt belong with them. They were better off. They'd forget her soon.

Kila shook off her thoughts and turned back. She didnt understand why the hyenas didnt just follow the path. It led to a beautiful place. Warm, soft grass everywhere. And some buildings made up of wood, Kila didnt understand what they were but she could only guess they were homes for other animals. She carefully avoided running into them, though. These animals were tall, and hairless, except for on top of their heads. And they had odd features, and talked in a language Kila didnt understand. The lioness kept herself hidden, passing the village with ease and continuing onward.



Sighing, the lioness cub sat down and look a look at the sky. It was nighttime. How many days had gone by? Kila had lost track after the first week. She couldnt get Kion and Kiara out of her mind, or Simba and Nala. Briefly, she wondered if thats how they felt too. A dull ache stabbed at her heart, but she ignored it, shrugging it off. She didnt know how far she'd walked, just that she wasnt anywhere near the Pridelands anymore. In fact, she didnt know where she was. But it didnt matter.

Kila stretched and stood up, beginning to walk again. She'd gotten enough rest during the previous nights, and even though her paws ached, she could get over it. The cub shook out her golden fur, amber eyes straight ahead with a faintly curious look in them. The scenery had changed. There was still grass, but some long black line in the ground, with yellow and white stripes running through it. Kila shrugged and kept walking, starting to cross over the.. Whatever it was. But she stopped, claws clicking on the hard surface, when a roaring noise filled her ears and her head snapped up.

The cub bristled, wide-eyed, as the huge monster seemed to skid to a sharp stop. What was that thing? It was growling. And it was loud. And there was lights, shining right into Kila's face. The cub found herself frozen, when there was a soft slamming sound and something stepped out of the monster. It was one of those weird hairless creatures on its two tall legs, heading toward her. Kila stood stiff, not knowing what to do, she just stared. Only when the thing touched her did she go off.

She yowled, she clawed, she bit, she wriggled away as fast as she could, shooting backwards but keeping her wide eyes fixed on the creature, her bristling fur making her look larger than she was. The Hairless mumbled a soothing word, holding out a small silver stick. Kila stared with confusion, mentally panicking, when a sharp whistle split the air.

Kila flinched, feeling a sharp pain in her shoulder, and her head snapped around to stare at the feather sticking out below her neck. She shook her head desperately, turning back to the Hairless, who was just watching. Then it mumbled something else Kila didnt understand.

Then she got dizzy, and everything went black.



Kila stirred, surprised her shoulder didnt hurt anymore. Surprised she was alive, really. The cub groaned softly, eyes squeezing shut tighter before snapping open. The first thing she saw was that she was in some rocky cave, and a flash of hope, but panic, soared through her, thinking maybe she was in Pride Rock again. Though she came to realize rather quickly that she wasnt, because her gaze landed on a lioness standing over her.

Kila's eyes snapped up to land on her. She was maybe as old as Nala. Her fur was snow white, with jet black paws and bright green colored eyes that sparkled with kindness. Kila found herself scrambling away, rushing to get to her paws.
"Easy, sugar," The lioness cooed, placing a paw on her shoulder. "Are you frightened?"
"Of course im frightened!" Kila yelled, her heart squeezing with fear. "I dont know where I am!"
"Shhh, shhh." The lioness soothed. "My name's Kiyu. What's your name, honey?"
Kila shook her head desperately, but decided to answer. "I- Im Kila," It was the first time she'd ever stuttered in her life, and she hated it.
"Nice to meet you." Kiyu sat back. "Where you from, darling?"
Kila didnt understand what all of these nicknames were about, and for a moment, she was annoyed. "The Pridelands."
"Pridelands.." Kiyu's gaze went adrift with wonder for a moment, thinking, before turning to Kila. "Is that past the zoo?"
"The what?" Kila's eyes widened in confusion. "What are you talking about?"
"Come with me," Kiyu flickered her tail lightly, standing up and padding out of the cave. Kila followed with some hesitation, and gasped at the sight.
The area was enclosed with glass. There was grass everywhere, like in the Pridelands. Kila could see rocks and trees and small lakes. The dull ache returned, suddenly missing home. Missing Kion and Kiara and Simba and Nala.
Kiyu looked past the glass enclosure, peering toward a village. "Is your home off that way?"
Kila followed her gaze. That village looked familiar... Oh! That was the village she had passed those weeks ago. How did she end up back here? Confusion darkened her gaze, and she almost forgot to reply. "O-Oh! Yeah."
"Knew it." Kiyu nodded, looking toward the door. Suddenly it burst open, and one of the Hairless came inside.
Kila's fur spiked up, bristling almost immediately.
The Hairless threw a gazelle carcass to the lions, then slammed the door shut and walked off, waving to the people as he passed.
Kila shuddered, watching as the lions practically attacked eachother to get to the meat. Her family would never do anything like that.
Kiyu however, looked thoughtful. "Meat week."
"What?"
"It starts tomorrow." Kiyu explained. "Once a month. The humans bring in food more often than usual, to fatten us up for the crowd."
"Oh." Kila blinked faintly, backing away from the stares of the Hairless gathered around. "Humans..?"
"That's what they are." Kiyu replied.
"They're... Weird." Kila said hesitantly.
"I know." Kiyu smiled. "But they might just be the key to helping you out of here."
"H- Huh?" Kila's eyes widened, gazing up at her. For a moment she was almost disbelieving. Why would this lioness she didnt know try to help her?
"You heard me." Kiyu stretched. "I have a plan in mind. Just do what I tell you, alright, sweetie?"
Kila blinked. While she hated the idea of having to listen to someone without question, she would do whatever it took to get out of here. Maybe she had no intentions on going home yet, but... "Okay."
"Good." Kiyu smiled down at her. Then she padded past her, head raised.

"Today's all burnt toast,
Runnin' late and Dad jokes,
Has anybody seen my left shoe?
Close my eyes, take a bite,
Grab a ride, laugh out loud!
There it is, up on the roof!" She smiled, fixing her green gaze on a tree.
Kila looked bewildered, watching her.

"I've been there, I survived." Kiyu smiled back at her.

"So, just take my advice.
Hang in there, baby,
Things are crazy, but I know,
Your future's bright.

Hang in there, baby,
There's no maybe,
Everything turns out alright!" She encouraged, padding forward.

"Sure, life is up and down,
But trust me, it comes back around!
You're gonna love who you turn out to be;
Hang in there, baby." She lowered her head, giving Kila's shoulder a soft nudge. "Just relax, sugar. It might take a few days, but you'll be out of here before the end of the week." Kiyu promised before padding off.
Kila watched her go, then turned back to look out the glass. She could only hope Kiyu was right.



"I give up." Kila grumbled, watching the door slam shut. It was her fifth try. Five days stuck in this prison, and Kila was ready to call it quits. Every time she got close enough to get out, the humans snatched her up and stuck her back into the cage. Kila shook out her fur, frowning deeply.
"Dont give up." Kiyu looked thoughtful. "You just cant do it alone."
Kila gazed at her. She had grown quite fond of the lioness, almost seeing her as a mother-figure, or as an older sister. But still sometimes she had to admit Kiyu was fur-brained. "Duh!"
Kiyu gave a stern look. "Dont take that tone with me young lady."
Kila snapped her mouth shut.
Kiyu chuckled, nuzzling her, and Kila gave a small purr. "We just gotta think of something else, thats all."
"Maybe..." Kila frowned, thinking. "What if you came with me? Im too easy for them to fight off. You're bigger."
Kiyu stared at her, and seemed to be going through this in her head. Her eyes sparked, as if suddenly realizing something.
"What?" Kila didnt miss that look.
"Nothing." Kiyu smiled. "But that just may work. We'll try again the day after tomorrow..." She closed her eyes, thinking.


“Wake up, sweetheart.”
Amber eyes cracked open, to blink up at green ones, pure green. Immediately, the young cub pushed herself up to her paws, a soft purr rumbling through her chest.
“Hi, Kiyu.” Kila blinked up gratefully at the white lioness with pure black paws and the gentlest green eyes Kila had ever seen. The young golden cub then looked around the little enclosement the zookeepers held the lions in. The other lions there weren't as nice, keeping to themselves, until it was food time at least and then there was a huge battle. It wasn't anything like a Pride, Kila knew, and it hurt just to think of her family.
“Today’s the day.” Kiyu hummed, gently flicking her tail under Kila’s chin, which drew the cubs attention back to her. “Ready to escape this prison, Angel?”
Kila giggled affectionately at the nickname, a smile twitching at her lips. She and Kiyu had formed a strong bond, like a mother and daughter, even like sisters at times. Kiyu had taken her in, helped her around. If it weren't for the lioness, Kila would be lost.

“I'm ready.” Kila said, looking toward the door of the cage as she pricked her ears. “You’ll come with me, right?”
“Well, i'm gonna try to get you out first, sugar, but if I can yes.” Kiyu purred, brushing against the cub gently as she headed forward. ”Just remember we need to get you out fast, this is a one time opportunity, or we’ll have to wait another month. This is big food day, and the doors gotta open wide to haul all that meat.”
Kila swallowed back the fear tightening in her throat. Not fear of her not escaping, but fear of Kiyu being left behind. “..Right.”
“Well, now we wait,” Kiyu smiled, sitting down. She wrapped her tail around the cub, pulling her close. “It’ll all be okay, hon.”
“I hope so, Kiyu,” Kila moved closer to the lioness. “I hope so.”


And only a few hours later Kila understood that it would never be alright.

“Alright, go!” Kiyu yowled as the door opened wide. Kila was frozen for a moment, but managed to shoot forward. Kiyu was at her side, knocking the human aside while Kila darted out of the door. There were shouts from all around, and Kila flattened her ears, leaping up on top of a few stacked boxes, out of reach of the humans.
“Kiyu!” Kila shouted, watching was countless lions streamed out of the cage behind her, roaring their freedom. Kila’s claws itched as she dug her claws intot he box, looking around helplessly for the familiar black and white pelt. Finally, green eyes met hers, and Kila nearly fell over with relief.
“See! I told you everything would--” Kiyu stopped suddenly, her mouth hung open as a shot split the air.
“NO!” Kila screamed.
A human stood not too far from Kiyu, pointing a shotgun at the lioness with narrowed eyes. Kiyu looked down at her chest, blood pooling around her paws, before looking back up at Kila gently. “..Kila.. Angel … Run..”
“Kiyu-- Kiyu no!” Kila roared, feeling her eyes tear up, and the tears spilled over when Kiyu fell down, the cub hurriedly making her way over to her mother-figure. “Kiyu!”
Kiyu didn't move, her lifeless eyes staring right up at Kila, who stared back down at her helplessly. Then she seemed to remember the human, who had now pointed the gun at her. With a loud, booming roar, Kila launched herself past him, tears streaming down her face. There were many shots following her, but none of them even touched her. The cub just kept running as fast as she could, blinded by rage and grief.


Kila didnt know how long she'd been running, or even which direction she'd been running to. She only stopped when she felt sand on her paws. Sand? That couldnt be right. The Pridelands were filled with grass.

Kila cracked her eyes open. This wasnt the Pridelands. This was a desert. "...Huh." The cub frowned for a long moment, gazing around, then reluctantly continued on. Maybe if she went far enough she'd find her home. Heart aching, she forced her paws forward, gazing at the ground.

"Kiyu." Tears blurred Kila's vision, and she blinked them back. Suddenly it all made sense to her. Why everyone told her to build up walls and guard her heart. Why Rafiki told her to keep herself distant. They all knew. How did they know? How was she supposed to know?

Kila shook her head vigorously, fighting back the pain in her heart. Mufasa, it hurt. But what could she do about it? Pain was pain. And she didnt like it. She had to get rid of it. She had to stop caring, had to stop hoping, had to stop wishing. Wishing only hurt more. Wishing only led to disappointment. Loving only led to more pain.

The thoughts swirled as Kila continued, not stopping as she walked. The more she thought about it, the more she could feel herself building up those walls.

Never again, Kila decided silently. I will never feel pain like that, ever again. And to do that she had to stop caring.

And she would.


"Hi!"
Kila's head snapped up, whirling around, a soft snarl escaping her lips. "Who's there?"
"Uh, me." A pale golden lioness about her age poked her head over a rock, curious bright blue eyes staring into Kila's own. "Who're you?"
Kila looked taken aback. She wasnt expecting to see another cub. "..Who wants to know?"
"Vexy!" The cub chirped, leaping over the rock. "Vexy Thaliah Prime."
Kila hesitantly looked around, tensed. Her already guarded heart refused to let this girl in. "Okay." She turned, starting off.
"Wait!" Vexy bounded forward, falling into step with her. "What's your name?"
Kila glanced at her, then fixed her gaze ahead, not answering.
"Cmonnnn," Vexy whined, nudging her gently. "Tell me! Its not like it'll hurt you or anything, will it?"
Kila grimaced. This cub had no idea. Shaking her head, Kila continued walking, her steps becoming more stiff.
Vexy sighed. "Please?"
"Kila." Kila said shortly, keeping her gaze straight ahead. "Now... Leave me alone?"
"Why?" Vexy frowned. "You seem lonely."
"Im not." Kila huffed. "I dont need anyone's company."
"You need love."
"Love is dumb!"
Vexy gasped so sharply that Kila thought she would choke. The lionesses steps came to a staggering halt, and Kila stopped as well, for some reason.
"Um.." The golden cub stared at Vexy, stepping back. "Um."
"What did you just say?" Vexy's eyes were wide.
"That.. Love is... Dumb," Kila stiffened, watching her. She was beyond wary now. Being trapped in a zoo with killer humans didnt exactly leave her open to anyone.
Vexy looked her over, then met her eyes. It was almost like she was staring right into Kila's soul.... Which creeped her out completely. After a few moments, Vexy shook her head. "No."
"What?" Kila looked taken aback.
"You dont really believe that." Vexy said matter-of-factly. "You want to, but you dont."
Kila stared at her, and her eyes slowly hardened. "You dont know what I believe." She snapped, turning and padding off.
Vexy fell into step with her again, much like Kila expected, to the Princesses annoyance. "Okay." She seemed to decide something to herself. "So where do you come from?"
Kila sighed gently, but decided to just answer her. "Pridelands."
"Pridelands?" Vexy's eyes lit up. "My brother's friends with a Pridelander."
"Who's your brother?" Kila asked vaguely.
"Chaka." Vexy replied, smiling. "His best friend is Kion."
Kila came to a stop, staring straight ahead. For some reason, her heart didnt ache anymore, just sent a hollow feeling through her chest. "....Oh."
"Why?" Vexy watched her curiously. "You know 'im?"
Kila hesitated, but eventually nodded. "Kion's... My brother."
"I knew it!" Vexy sang, giggling, much to Kila's surprise. "I knew you looked familiar!" She gazed at Kila, eyes shining, smiling brightly.
Kila frowned. "You're really... Perky."
"Yep!" Vexy curled her tail up. "Im the stars... And stars need darkness to shine." She led Kila along, smiling.

"Heart beats fast,
Colors and promises.
How to be brave?
How can you love if you're afraid, to fall?" She looked over at Kila, who blinked.

"But you'll never be alone,
I'll make your doubt suddenly go away somehow.
One step closer," Her eyes lit up.

"You may be scared everyday,
Waiting for it.
But darling dont be afraid,
You will love it for a thousand years.
I've loved it for a thousand more." Vexy lifted her gaze to the sky, smiling softly.

Kila followed her gaze, blinking faintly.

"Time stands still.
Beauty in all it is.
You must be brave,
You cannot let anything take away,
Whats standing in front of you.

Every breath, every hour,
Has led you here." Vexy closed her eyes, feeling the wind blow through her fur.

"One step closer.." This time Kila sang along, albeit hesitantly.

"I may be scared everyday,
Waiting for it." Kila sang quietly, looking away.

"But darling, dont be afraid," Vexy nudged her.

"You will love it for a thousand years."

"I'll love it for a thousand more." Kila turned her gaze to Vexy, the guarded look gone, replaced with curiosity.

"And all along you knew that you could find it." Vexy purred.

"Time will lead your heart right there,
Just follow behind it for a thousand years.
You'll love it for a thousand more..."

"One step closer..." Kila whispered.

"One step closer." Vexy smiled.
"Vexy... Right?" Kila gazed at her.
"Yep." Vexy flicked her tail.
"Im Kila." Kila ducked her head. "Kilana Anne Pride."
"Its nice to meet you." Vexy smiled brightly. "Im your best friend."
"I can tell." Kila smirked faintly, her amber eyes sparkling gently. Im letting you in. Dont let me down, please.
"How about this." Vexy grinned at her. "Until you're ready to go home... You can stay with me here. If you want."
"You know what?" Kila blinked. "That's the best idea i've heard all day."



"Still not interested in me?" Vincent peered over Kila's shoulder as she drew in the dirt with a claw. "Whatcha drawing?"
"Nothing.." Kila said vaguely. She was trying to draw her, Kion and Kiara. Time passed too slowly without those two. But a month in the desert with Vexy, Vincent and Chaka wasnt too bad. She had learned to build her walls up, only letting them down around Vexy. Because there was no use hiding herself from the "Love Doctor".
"You miss home huh?" Chaka sat beside her. "Why dontcha go? Kion talks about you all the time. You're lucky I dont just lead him to you." He deadpanned.
Kila sighed deeply. "You wouldnt understand."
"Try me."
"I dont belong there." Kila stated.
Chaka burst out laughing almost immediately. "Are you kidding me? If anyone belongs there, you do! You're like a mix between all of them, you know." He turned serious. "You've got Kion's fierceness, Kiara's prissy-ness--"
"Hey!" Kila snapped.
Chaka smirked. "Simba's stubbornness, Nala's kindness. And to top it off, you've got yourself. A sweet, stubborn, fierce girl who's learned to build up walls to guard herself. Not afraid to fight but its never really a first resort. And you're artistic, and musical. And you believe in love, you just dont believe you'll find it anytime soon. You're creative and you like to think for yourself and do for yourself. Your independent but also insecure and tend to put others before yourself, even though you can come off selfish and guarded toward strangers, you're really soft and sweet to the people who've managed to break past your shell." He sat back, not even fazed. "I can read people. And if anything, you belong there more than anyone else."
Kila just stared, then turned her gaze to the Pridelands. "..Thanks." She breathed, standing up. "I... Need to find Vexy." She bounded off, her expression unreadable.

When she did find her best friend, they traded goodbyes. Well, not goodbyes, because Kila told Vexy she'd better come visit or else and Vexy promised she would every day. Then Kila took off, heading for the Pridelands. As soon as her paws touched grass, she felt home. Safe. Warm. And she wasnt even there yet. She knew it may take a while to get used to her family once more, but she couldnt wait to see them again.

And she wouldnt wait any longer.

"...And now im here." Kila was gazing off into the distance, her expression vague, memories resurfacing.
Kion just stared at her, mouth opened, wide-eyed with shock.

Sade looked up and opened her mouth, but closed it when she saw Tsuki. "Who's...this?"
"This is Tsuki," Giza nodded to the cub. "Your twin brother."
Sade's breath caught in her throat, eyes wide. Tsuki looked the same.

"Kila.." Kion pushed himself to sit up, his thoughts whirling.
"What?" Kila blinked, turning her amber gaze onto her twin brother.
Kion stared at her, unable to speak for a moment. "You really... Thought you didnt belong?"
Kila flinched a little, looking away. "Wanna know the truth? ... I still dont. I still wanna turn tail, go back to the Outlands, desert, something. Leave you all to your lives."
Kion shook his head vigorously. "No. No, no, no. That's not.. Of course you belong. Why would you think.."
Kila stared at her paws, eyes narrowing faintly. "Kion, I love you. I really do. But sometimes you're as blind as a bat."
"Something I get from my twin." Kion mumbled, looking crestfallen.
Kila looked up, and felt her heart shatter. "Hey." She sighed, standing up and padding forward. "I wont leave again, if that's what you're worried about."
Kion shook his head, blinking back the tears in his eyes. "Im more worried about you." He looked away.

Why did you have to hide?"

Kila looked taken aback for a moment. She hesitated, then looked down.

"I didnt wanna let you down." She ran her paw over the ground.

"But the truth is out.
Its tearing me apart,
Not listenin' to my heart." The cub glanced up at her brother.

Kion stared at his twin, his expression unreadable.
Kila smiled sadly, nudging her nose toward the Outlands. "I really had to go."
"And I would never stop you." Kion sighed.
"Even though it changed.." Kila padded forward, placing a paw on top of his head.
"...Nothing has to change." Kion smiled, shaking her off.

"And you can find me in the space between," The twins sang, pressing their foreheads together gently.

"In the space between," Kila leaned forward, pressing her muzzle to Kion's cheek gently.

"Our age," Tsuki corrected with a smile. "And yep! Have you ever played boabab ball with a monkey?"
"What's boabab ball?" Sade tilted her head, catching Tsuki off guard.
"You don't know boabab ball!?"
"Well, no," Sade shrugged and looked down sadly. "We were always moving a lot. Not much time to play games."
"Are you in for a surprise!" Tsuki grinned from ear to ear. "All we do is play! Well, train too I guess, but playing more!"
"Something that we should fix," Giza grumbled, giving Usiku a look.

Tricking Kion was going to be harder than he'd thought. Especially with his friends there. Koja needed a plan. Get them out of the picture. Or turn Kion against them... But how?

(Koja has a friend. Let's say it's Ruby, because I'm unoriginal and I'm trying to figure out a name for her. 'Ruby' is in on the plot with Koja, and the two hatch a plan to convince Kion to join them. 'Ruby' is a lioness about Kion's age from the Outlands, and she 'stumbles' into Kion as he's walking through the Outlands because Koja 'frantically' told him about what happened to the gazelle and zebra leaders. 'Ruby' is quite malnourished and starving at the time she finds Kion, and Kion brings her back to the Pridelands because, well, he's Kion. The two strike up a relationship, Kion falling in love with 'Ruby'. 'Ruby' begins telling Kion about how life works in the Outlands, and why everyone, including Janja and his crew is always coming to the Pridelands for food. She blames the Lion Guard for everyone's suffering, since they're always blindly rushing in to 'save the day'. You see where I'm heading with this?)

(I like it! Although since I wanna kinda keep Kion's relationship's open, maybe instead of completely falling in love, he develops a small crush for her like his feelings for Chaka and Janja, except maybe a bit stronger? But other than that... This is perfect XD)

"New home?" Sade echoed, eyebrows raising. She quickly looked away. "Let's not call it that yet. I'm still not sure if I'm even staying."
Tsuki blinked up at her. That was another think about her newfound brother Sade was curious about. She was taller. All her life she had been seen as the short one, but now she wasn't.

"What're you looking so smug about?" Kiara smirked at Kila as her sister trotted into Pride Rock.
Kila giggled. "I just learned a secret."
"Oh?" Kiara's eyebrows raised. "From?"

"Uh-uh-uh," Kila interrupted. "Im not allowed to tell. That's his job."

"If one of them is dead!" Kila laughed, padding back to the back of the cave toward the "rooms".

Kion hummed softly to himself, then pricked his ears up when a sound reached his ears. A familiar sound.

Kion suppressed a smile, closing his eyes for a moment before opening them again. Without a word, he rose to his paws and padded off.

"Sounded like Janja." Bunga huffed out with a sigh, sitting up.

"What you got around here?" Sade asked, her steps quickening slightly.
"We have scouts steal food almost everyday!" Tsuki replied. "Well, as much as they can at least. We have to ration everything. It's good to know we have a decent water supply. The mothers and young children get the most of it all."
"It sounds like you really care," Sade smiled softly. Her eyes then suddenly caught a leopard cub. "Who's that?"
"H-her?" Tsuki blushed, looking down. "That's Ayo. She's amazing."
"You like her, I'm guessing?" Sade giggled, raising an eyebrow.
"Am I that obvious?" Tsuki sighed. "Come on though, you can't not like her."

Kion only stopped when he saw Janja, and bit back the same smile as before.
Janja's gaze lifted to meet his, and a grin stretched over his face. "Why, hiya, Kion!"
"Hey, Janja." Kion said smoothly, padding forward down the hill until he reached the hyena. "What brings you to the Pridelands, alone?"
"Food." Janja narrowed his dark green eyes faintly. "You gonna chase me out again?"
"No." Kion shook his head, surprising himself as well as Janja. "This time, I just wanna talk." He flicked his tail at the hyena's shoulder, padding off in a random direction through the Pridelands. "Come with me."
Janja raised an eyebrow, seeming to consider this, but eventually sighed and followed. "This better be important."

Usiku motioned his paw. "Over there is the training grounds. The place is generally flat to help the newer trainees to learn new battle moves, and when we want to recreate actual battles we'll go to more rock areas. Those caves over there are the sleeping quarters. Once a cub is old enough to begin training, they're moved out of the Cub Den and into the Trainee den. Adults are all supposed to help either train, hunt, scout or spy. Our little army is growing steadily thanks to Giza's negotiation tactics. In fact, we just added a new section of the army thanks to your friend Atazi. Her mother had been looking for her, and would only join us if we could find her." Usiku mentioned, gesturing to a newer looking cave system currently being carved out. "She's over there."

Janja scoffed lightly. "You're... Kidding, right?"
"Answer the question." Kion murmured.
Janja rolled his dark green eyes. "Barely any. What we do find isnt as much as we would like, when we do get anything." The hyena's gaze flicked over to the cub beside him. "What, you think we attack the Pridelands for fun, Lion Cub?"
Kion frowned for a moment, turning his head to look off to the side. No. No, Janja, that's not what I think. And this, this isnt what I want. If it was up to me, you'd live here, you and your hyenas. But its not up to me. And its not my decision. Its not. Im sorry. Im sorry, Janja. The words were lost on his lips, knowing he could never say this aloud.
"Penny for your thoughts." Janja glanced over at him, bringing the cub from his thoughts.
Kion stayed silent for a moment. "How big is your clan?"
"What?" Janja looked bewildered.
"Every time you attack," Kion glanced around for a moment, trying not to let his eyes focus on Janja. "You only bring Cheezi and Chungu. Or Nne and Tano. But I know there's more of you. How many?"
Janja blinked slowly for a second, confused, but he answered anyway. "Counting Cheezi, Chungu, Nne and Tano, I have ten hyenas."
"And counting you?"
"Eleven."
Kion's mouth twisted a little. Now came the part he would regret. Or. Well. Not really regret. But something he'd pay for if he got caught. "How much would it take to feed all of you?"
Now Janja looked completely taken aback. "Kion, what--"
"Janja, please."
"I dont know." Janja sounded exasperated. "A zebra or two, honestly. Or..." He thought for a moment. "An elk would feed all of us…. Why?"
Kion nodded a little, then suddenly flicked his tail at Janja’s shoulder, changing direction and heading down a hill toward a herd of elk. “Elk it is.”
“What?” Janja was now confused and exasperated, and faintly annoyed that Kion seemed to be avoiding his questions. The hyena frowned as he turned, heading after the cub. “Kion, what are we doin’?”
“Hunting.”

Atazi narrowed her eyes at Nuka and Vitani briefly, studying them. She glanced over at where Kovu was, Zira pacing in front of him. She snorted. Probably another one of Kovu's precious 'lessons'. She looked back at Nuka and Vitani, her eyes cold. "So." She said, her fur fluffing up.

"This is risky." Janja muttered, weaving around the tall grass to stay beside Kion, since the cub was walking rather quickly. "Really risky."
"I know." Kion’s lips twitched faintly, keeping his eyes on the biggest elk. It was huge, but it would feed Janja and his hyenas. And probably leave leftovers for a day or two. "But being a leader means you take risks."
"Trust me. I know."
Kion glanced at him. "I guess we have a lot more in common than we thought, don't we?"
Janja chuckled despite himself. "I guess so."
Kion smiled, turning his gaze ahead. He knew this was wrong in every way. He knew this was risky. He knew there would be a price to pay if he got caught. He knew. And in his head he was going through the consequences. Imagining his father’s disappointed look, his friends horrified faces. And he knew doing this could result in bad things. Possibly banishment. Kion felt his stomach twist at this thought, but shook it off. If it came to that, so be it. Kion didnt want any part of the Lion Guard, any part of protecting the Pridelands and saving people if he couldnt help them all. Couldnt help Janja and his hyenas. If he had to reject him - No, them, them - he didnt want any part of it. Not at all. Kion wasnt about to turn back now. He kept his gaze and paws ahead, a determined look on his face. No matter how this turned out, Kion would be ready for it.
Janja kept silent after this, following the cub quietly. He knew this couldnt end well. Not for Kion at least. Why did Janja care, though? Did he care? He didnt even know. The hyena was too confused right now. Confused as to why Kion would go through such lengths for him - Them, them - if he hated them. Or maybe Kion didnt hate him - THEM - as much as he'd like them to believe. Maybe he didnt hate them at all. Janja knew that Kion was smart, not that he'd ever say this out loud. He knew that if Kion wanted him and his hyenas out of the way, Kion could get rid of them. And vice versa. Honestly? Visiting the Pridelands had stopped being about food a long time ago - Though he couldnt vouch for Cheezi and Chungu on that one. Why did Janja keep coming back? He didnt know. He knew it had something to do with Kion, somehow. And no matter what he'd keep returning.
Kion wanted him to. Because as stupid as it sounded, it was like his part in the Circle of Life.
Janja knew his clan wouldnt agree.
Kion knew his father, and the rest of his family, wouldnt agree.
Janja knew Cheezi and Chungu wouldnt agree.
Kion knew that his Lion Guard wouldnt agree.
And they both knew that they shouldnt agree.
But for the Outlands’ sake...
For the love of the Pridelands....
They wouldnt have it any other way.

"I dont answer stupid questions." Kion said smoothly, trotting forward as the elk separated itself from the others, heading in a different direction. Taking this chance, Kion bounded forward. "Cmon."
Janja sighed, but he followed, shooting forward to keep pace with Kion. "You're weird."
"All the best people are." Kion winked at him, before lunging at the elk, slamming his paws down onto its spine and sending it crashing to the ground.
Wasting no time, Janja rushed forward as well and sank his claws into the creature's throat, killing it quickly before it had time for a struggle.
"Nice." Kion leaped off to stand beside him, raising his paw for a high-five. "Im impressed."
"I could say the same to you." Janja smirked, high-fiving him. It seemed they'd both forgotten for the moment they were supposed to be enemies.

Finally, Usiku had enough. He turned, and narrowed his eyes at Sade, blocking her from walking away. "Giza, Tsuki, leave us be." He ordered, picking up Sade and walking towards a quiet, secluded area. He placed Sade down on a high rock, almost like a throne and he stared out at the landscape. "You seem uncertain about joining us, my daughter." He said, not looking at her. He raised his head, his eyes focused on the form of Pride Rock in the distance. "I understand. However, now is not the time for doubt. You're either with them, or us." He stared at her, eyes almost cold. Calculating. This was not the face of a loving father at the moment, pleading for his daughter to join. This was the face of a leader, who needed to make a choice for those he lead. "You've heard the tale of your mother's death. But your mind had been poisoned by Koja, with his lies about the Outlands and I." He began circling the rock, his black mane rippling in the wind as he gazed at her with a stern glare. "Sade, you belong with us. You are strong, fast, graceful. You bear the markings of a true Outlands Warrior. And above all, you are my daughter. Even your friend agrees that what is happening in the Pridelands is not right. Why should they have accepted her into their ranks so easily, yet the rest of us suffering the same fate are ignored? Do not let doubt cloud your mind. Atazi didn't respond, only lowering her head. "Kovu, Kovu, Kovu..." She muttered under her breath, almost in disgust. "Mom still doesn't get that he has no interest in taking over the Pridelands." She grumbled, flicking her tail.

"Yeah. Important stuff. She tells me stuff alright." Kovu huffed, padding over to him. "Like "lets kill the Pridelanders! Lets earn Kiara's trust to kill her and Simba one day! Here's our dumb little plan my little Prince"!" He swiped at a bone, sending it flying with a growl. Then he looked at Atazi, and huffed. "She just doesnt take a hint."

"Thanks, Kion." Janja finally said as they dragged the elk to the Outlands. "I guess I... Owe you one."
"I guess so." Kion smirked. "In that case.."
"You want me to stay out of the Pridelands for a while." Janja interrupted.
"No." Kion shook his head. "I want you to meet me.. Here. Flat Ridge Rock. Tonight. Just to talk."
"About what?" Janja blinked.
"Anything." Kion held his gaze.
Janja gazed at him for a moment, then finally smiled. It wasnt a "Im gonna kill you in your sleep", evil smile, it was genuine, warm. "....Well then its a date."
Kion felt his face heat up, knowing if he didnt have fur his face would be beet red. "Right."
"See you, Lion Cub." Janja chuckled softly, eyes warm. "You should get outta here before your friends start lookin' for ya."
"Right." Kion turned away, tail flicking, the smile on his face growing wider by the second. "See you, Janja. Remember... Tonight." With that, he bounded off into the Pridelands.
Janja watched him go, and smiled again before grabbing the elk and dragging it back into the shadows.

"I will do whatever it takes to ensure my daughter is at my side."

"That girl...is of no importance to me," she made her voice hollow and empty. "You are of no importance to me. I've fended for myself my entire life. I won't tell you anything, especially the killer of my mother."

His eyes flickered briefly, and he placed a paw to his head. "Not this again..." He groaned, his head pounding. Upon opening his eyes, they were strangely full of confusion, rather than rage.

Usiku didn't look at Tsuki. "Get Giza, now." He said, his voice cracking.

(I like my characters to have an actual reason behind why they do what they do. Like, for instance, Tanya has Asperger's Syndrome, explaining why she will talk and talk and talk, why she's socially awkward, why she's so emotional, etc.)
(Usiku also heavily relies on his younger brother for support after he does something he didn't mean to do. This is why Gia has been able to convince him so easily to hate the Pridelands, and many other things- it's because Usiku relies on him for so much.)

"I...I...".Sade's eyes were focused on the ground, but she blinked when a drop of water landed in between her paws, soaking the dirt. Only it wasn't water. It was tears, her tears. She hiccuped, lifting a paw and covering her eyes.

Kopa followed the path home. He wasn't surprised, really. He just felt angry and sad. His eyes were focused on his paws, fur bristling.

Usiku wanted to hold her close, but he couldn't trust himself. Sade could do something to make him fly into a rage again, and he couldn't bear the thought of hurting her again. He needed Giza, he needed his little brother to help him get his emotions back together.

Kion gritted his teeth, glancing toward the Pridelands as he paced back and forth on Pride Rock, growling at himself. Kion, you idiot... How could you forget about Kopa? He snarled slightly, kicking a small rock off and sending it flying in a random direction. "He's never gonna forgive me."

Kila poked her head out for a moment, then withdrew and looked at Kiara. "I dont know whether to feel bad for him or laugh."
"I think we should head to bed." Kiara admitted with a small grimace. "Before things get bloody."
"Oh now you're overreacting, Ki." Kila smirked, looking back out.

"Brother?" Giza appeared with Tsuki by his side "what is the meaning of this? Why is the girl crying?"
Tsuki rushed forward and pressed against Sade, licking her tears.

Kopa climbed up the sloped to Pride Rock. He looked over at Kion, but remained silent. Be then turned away and headed for the cave.

"Nothing to say, huh?" Kopa looked back at him with a frown. "Yeah. That's what I thought." he continued on without a word.

"Everything!" Sade exclaimed, fur bristling. "I've been on the run since I could walk. I've been barely surviving under all of these rules! Rules rules and more rules! No matter who says I'm safe with them, there will always be a catch. I'm not standing for it anymore."
"What do you mean?" Tsuki asked, surprisingly liking where this was going.
"I'm going to form my own group," Sade replied, eyes narrowed "and unlike Koja, Simba or Father, I'm going to do it right."

Atazi trotted up to Sade. "Oh good, you're here." She breathed out in relief. "I was worried you were in trouble, but nobody here would let me leave." She gestured around her. "Sorry I couldn't get the Lion Guard to help in time. Now, what's this I hear about ditching this dirt-hole and finding our own place in the grand ol' circle of life?" She asked, falling into step with Sade easily.

Usiku covered his eyes with a paw. "She mentioned... her."

"Well," Kila sighed. "...Drama never ends."
"No kidding." Kiara murmured. "I hate drama. Almost as much as I hate water."

Kila giggled. "She has a point though. Its very.. Wet."
Koja raised an eyebrow. "...Its water. Its supposed to be wet... Duh."
Kila stared at him, her smile slowly vanishing. "Did you just say "duh" to me?" She asked slowly, her expression becoming more and more terrifying.
"Uh oh," Kiara whispered.
Koja blinked. "Uh... No..."

"If you hadn't tried to get all friendly with me," Sade growled. "I wouldn't have risked everything to save you and could still be in hiding. Friends are a waste of time and you are a waste of mine."
Tsuki gasped, staring at them both with wide eyes.
"Let's go Tsuki," Sade grumbled, turning and marching away "we've stayed here for too long."

She grabbed Sade, and began dragging her towards a specific place. A place Tanya had told her a long time ago. It was time for Sade to meet Timon and Pumba, and have a damn good time.

Atazi's head snapped back as if she had been slapped, her eyes wide. Squeeing her eyes shut, Atai let out a sigh and shook her head. "If that's how you want it." She said softly, turning away from Sade and walking back to her brothers and sister, ears pinned against her head and tail drooping.

"Hmph." Kila continued to glare at Koja.
"You heard your mother 'La-La Land." Koja's lips twitched, fighting a smile.
"My mother, Huckleberry?" Kila tipped her head. "You wanna talk about my mother?"
"No." Koja's smile vanished.
"Because im sure you have alot to say about her dont you?" Kila purred icily.
"Kila." Koja blinked.
"Thats what I thought, Sundance." Kila turned and made her way to her room, an amused smile playing on her lips. "That's what I thought."
Kiara blinked at Koja. "What'd she mean by that?"
"Uh." Koja looked at his older half-sister. "....Probably nothing. Hey where'd Kion go?"
Kiara gave a disbelieving look, but shook her head. "He ran off toward the Outlands."
And that's when Kila started laughing from her room.

"I never realized how pretty it is before." Janja sighed, looking over the Pridelands before looking back at Kion.
"Pridelands are definitely nice at night." Kion chuckled to himself, looking up at the sky.
"I wasnt talking about the Pridelands." Janja smiled softly, and flicked his tail at Kion's shoulder before standing up. "Lets go for a run."
"A run?" Kion leaped off beside him, trying to ignore the blush he felt rising to his face.
"Yep." Janja smiled at him. "That okay?"
"Only..." Kion smirked. "If you can catch me!" With that, he took off through the Pridelands.
Janja laughed. "Get back here, Lion Cub!" He said playfully, bounding after him.

Sade felt a small lump in her throat, glancing back with a sigh. She then shook her head and kept walking, this time not looking back.

Kopa crawled deeper into his small hole, stopping when he reached the end. There was a small nest he had made along with a bunch of wet clay he gathered from the river to mess with. He curled up in his nest with a sigh, placing his head on his paws.

"Too slow Janja!" Kion sang over his shoulder, ducking under a few trees as he neared a watering hole.
"You had a head start," Janja reminded him, digging his claws into the ground and pushing himself forward until he reached Kion's side. "How's that for slow?"
Kion smirked over at him. "You're alright."
"Well hey," Janja smiled back, nudging his shoulder lightly against Kion's. "I caught ya, didnt I?"
"Guess so." Kion stuck his tongue out. "How much do ya like water, Janja?"
"Huh?" Janja looked back ahead, and immediately slammed his paws down, coming to a swift stop at the edge of the water. "That was close!" He chuckled slightly.
"No," Kion laughed, and skidded to a stop beside him. "That was funny."
"I'll show you funny, Cub!" Janja suddenly lunged at him and sent them both rolling into the water, not caring that he was getting wet too.

Beshte hummed, watching Kion and Janja from the mud. Being a hippo, the cool mud helped out in the heat.

"Pinned ya." Janja smirked victoriously, managing to pin the cub, but making sure his head stayed above the water so he didnt drown.
"Oh, get off!" Kion kicked him off playfully, rolling onto his stomach. He tensed as Janja turned away, smirking. And wipe that smug look of your face! He thought before lunging. Somehow, though, he ended up back on his back, this time in the grass.
"Pinned ya 'gain." Janja smiled, his nose only inches from Kion's.
Kion grinned, pushing him off. "Showoff. I could pin you if I wanted."
"Right." Janja smirked, flicking his tail at Kion's nose playfully before turning to look back over the Pridelands. "Hey, Cub?"
"Yeah?" Kion shook his fur out, not really caring that he was wet. In fact, he liked the water.
"You wont get in trouble for this, right?" Janja asked cautiously, staring straight ahead. Honestly, he wasnt sure why he cared. He just... Did.
"Honestly?" Kion looked up at the starry sky. "I dont know. Probably. But... It is what it is. I love the Pridelands, and I love my family, and I love the Guard, and I love saving animals. But..." His eyes narrowed. "If... I have to reject one to protect the many... I dont want any part of it."
Janja glanced at him, then sighed, leaning forward to nudge his nose against the cub's shoulder. "Whatever happens..."
"Whatever happens," Kion returned the nudge, standing up and padding over to the water to look down at his reflection. "I'll be ready for it."
"You always are, Lion Cub." Janja smiled a little, following his gaze. "You always are."

"Well, the night's not over yet." Janja said eventually.
"I like it at night." Kion admitted, turning his head a bit to look over the Pridelands. "And this is... This is nice."
"I agree." Janja smiled. "I really dont want this to end."
"Me either." Kion shrugged, giving him a warm smile. Then he looked down at the water. "And it doesnt have to." With that he laid down, resting his head on his paws.
Janja blinked down at him. "Are you going to sleep?"
"Im tired." Kion mumbled. "Running through the Pridelands wears you out." He glanced up. "Can you stay?" Then he paused. "But if im not awake before dawn, you might wanna leave fast in case the others do find us."
Janja sighed, gazing at him for a moment, then finally gave in. "Fine." He laid down beside the cub. "Whatever you want."
Kion smirked victoriously, closing his eyes. "Goodnight, Janja."
"Goodnight, Cub." Janja watched him as the cub fell asleep. Kion was definitely vulnerable at this point - And if Janja wanted to, it would be all too easy to take him out now. But... Janja didnt want to. In fact the thought never even crossed his mind. The hyena was silent, listening to the cub's soft snores. Then he moved forward, and rested his head beside Kion's, letting his eyes drift shut.

Kion jerked awake with a spluttering gasp, scrambling to his paws. His fur bristled as soon as he saw Beshte. Then without a word, he gave Janja a swift kick to wake him, since the water didnt seem to be doing so.
"What--!" Janja leaped up, bristling as well. When he saw Beshte, his ears went back. "Ohhh beetle-dung!"
