two questions regarding backstories

So, how angsty are we allowed to get with backstories? I understand that there'd have to be some kind of trigger warning/spoiler but is there a limit?

And my second question, for cats that are warriors, are you allowed to put in their backstory that they were formerly a kittypet or would they have to roleplay that out by joining as an outsider?

so the first question I think you can get really angsty. just like... maybe don't put in their backstory that they've murdered someone?

and the second question, you can def do that! you can do both, but it'll be simpler to just slap it in their backstory

When putting an outsider backstory in please be mindful of current Clan joining rules!

If a Clan has been closed off to outsider joining for months, your cat couldn't have recently joined as one and depending on their age having an outsider backstory might not be practical. A quick example is ThunderClan - outsider joining has been closed for the majority of Bumblestar's leadership, so your cat would need to be minimally warrior aged to have any appropriate outsider backstory, and you'd need to factor in what age they were. I believe WindClan and ShadowClan have been pretty consistently open for outsiders, and RiverClan has been hit or miss but I believe their joining recently opened up, so those Clans might be a little easier to work this into.

If it's been a long time, probably! MrWolfu:

TC for example since I know their situation better - if your cat is over 13 moons, odds are they could've joined as an outsider as a moon old kit (Bumblestar became leader about 12 months ago, which I believe is when the outsider joining closed off.) You can adjust their age from there to make them older as desired!

For RC, if your cat recently joined within the last couple moons, that should be fine since Fadingsun allows it. If it's older than that, I'd say it gets a bit more complicated since RC had several outsider attacks that impacted their relationship with allowing them to join. I think under Lark/Bird, it would've been a hard no, but Gingerfrost/star would have allowed outsider joining so they could've joined then. (Roughly, back in September / October - so 8-9 moons ago!)
