The Tainted

The Tainted are a group of people that live within the confined walls of the city Kardain. Their lives are filled with mockery, ridicule and eventually a horrific death. Every year on the killing of blood moon, groups of Tainted people are marched to the town's square to be massacred by the king.

The legend goes that the Moon Goddess was upset at the Kardanian people, thus she cursed the city and some of it's people. The mark of the crescent moon upon your forehead means you are one of the abominations. A Tainted child can be born from normal parents but must be given away.

The Tainted are not allowed into the city walls, they live upon the outskirts in poverty.

The killing of blood moon takes place as the Kardanian people believe that if they kill enough Tainted that the moon Goddess will be pleased and that she will rid the city of the people.

The Tainted are a very special group of people. The Moon Goddess did not mean to give them to the people as a curse, but rather as a blessing. The Tainted have powers that are well beyond what is considered normal but they have yet to access it.

On the 167th killing of blood moon, a rebel group of Tainted teenagers rebelled against the system. Their rebelling caused chaos and they were able to complete their mission- Kill the King.

The group of teenagers are on the run now, avoiding the authorities and being alert is their only way of surviving.

Will they live to see another day? Will they be able to free their people in a mass revolution? Or will they die trying?

He was breathing heavily and red curls stuck to his forehead from sweat, the hair that had previously been pulled back in a pony tail had fallen down, he tried to put plants on top of his head, fearful that the red curls would give him away in all the green.
He held one of his blades out in front of him, peeking through the ferns and watching for anyone to come by. He knew he should get further away but he was all alone currently and too scared that he’d get lost.

He reached out his hand to grab the other’s, pulling himself up. “Mud baths are good for the skin.” He said simply, brushing leafs out of his hair. He tried to seem like he was calm, but his hands shook slightly and his eyes darted around, looking for any sign that they need to start running.

Kook just watched the others from a branch higher up in a nearby tree. On top of watching the others and looking out for them, he also watched and scanned the forest to keep track of where the guard patrol was. Considering the repercussion of what had just happened, he wouldn't be surprised if the guards started mass slaughtering the tainted in search for those that rebelled. He questioned if it was really worth it for a second, before coming to terms with the fact that everything had just happened and there was no going back now.


In all the shock and confusion of the sudden attack and murder of the king, Sai had managed to sneak her way out of town and was now hot on the heels of, and furious with Kei. She knew those bombs better than anyone and who they belonged to. Of course, they were just smoke bombs, but they're what gave the opportunity for the king's murder in all of this confusion. Cautiously, she slunk her way through the forest behind the guards on horseback, hoping to catch the tainted that rebelled in case the guards missed them. Quiet as a mouse, she scanned until a flash of red hair caught her attention. Concealing herself in a thicket, she watched as what she presumed was the group of rebels regrouped.

While the rest of the rebellion had moved farther into the forest, Skaia hid up high in a tree just outside the city. Having lived in the city her whole life, she was unused to the forest with all its strange sticks and trees. Without a guide, she'd be as blind as her eyes were, getting her caught. And there was no way she'd slow down any of her friends for her sake.
