-This is based on a play my school had preformed awhile back called "Freaks".-

I've been to highschool, and that's the biggest freakshow of them all...
~Freaks

April has lived her life with heartache and pain. After a recent indecent that involved her and the bullies at her school, April steps off the platform and dives into the painful world of Death.

However, this world isn't what April expected. Was this a twisted idea of Heaven, or a Hell that wasn't all that bad? Caught in the midst of a wild storm, April runs to seek shelter in a old decrepit building nearby. Bursting in, she is greeted by the Echoes, people like her who had also taken their own lives in pursuit of a happier place. Some of them seem normal, but wield powers. Others are angels, some are demons... Some of them are hybrids, some of them aren't complete.

This place doesn't have a specific name, but April thinks that it just might be what will finally bring her happiness. But all things come to a price, as April learns- her past will always come back to haunt her, no matter what she does.

It felt like an eternity as April plunged towards the ground, the wind whistling past her hair. Her eyes were closed, simply waiting for the impact. It was high enough that she would most likely die, and hopefully her death would be short. There were cries of fear as she neared the ground, but all she felt was nothing. It felt like her heart had already stopped beating. For a moment, her nerves exploded with pain.

The pain faded away. April could still... hear. See. Feel. Think. Shouldn't she have died? Or was this the afterlife? Tall trees surrounded her, reaching their scrawny arms towards the sky in hopes of sunlight and rain. A faint squeaking, like a swing being swung echoed in the distance. The sky was grey with clouds, swelling up with the promise of rain. She couldn't see where the sun was, but she knew it must be daytime. After all, it was light enough for her to see.

April felt a small splash of water on her arm, the cold drop bringing April back to reality. Whether or not the events she replayed in her mind were a dream or real, April needed to find shelter. A loud crackle of thunder sent shivers down April's spine, propelling her forwards and deeper into the woods. An owl called, goosebumps rising all over her arms. Did I really die? April asked herself as she wove through the trees, running towards nothing in particular. I don't have time to think about that now... Shelter, shelter, I need shelter. Could it all have been a dream? A faint sense of uneasiness prickled at the edge of her mind as she ran. Wait- is that a house? A huge mansion stood before her, it's yard wild and unkempt, and the house itself looking quite old and decrepit. She shivered, now soaking wet as she trudged through the wild grass growing between cracks in the sidewalk, and stumbled through the occasional thorny rose bush. Pushing the heavy door open, she stared inside the well-lit, warm mansion. Two staircases swept from the ground floor into a gran arc to meet together at the top of a landing for the second floor. She could see a basic sitting room, complete with a crackling fireplace and comfortable chairs. A book was resting on the table, it's pages slightly yellowed and open to a page as if the owner had suddenly gotten up and left.

"Dreadful day, isn't it?" A quiet voice came from behind her. With a gasp, April spun around to be face to face with two twin brothers, one with angel wings and the other with demon wings, staring at her with expressions of slight confusion, and plenty of concern and worry. A few others were peeking from behind walls, peering through the doors, and staring from the top of the staircase.

"Don't just stand there!" The demonic brother snapped at April and his twin. "Go on, get the girl in front of the fire! Just because we're technically dead doesn't mean that we can't get hypothermia! And the rest of you, come out and introduce yourselves, we have a new member of the Echo House!" He called to the others, as the angelic brother brought April towards the fire.

She put on her most friendly face, nudging Louise to do the same as she gave a weak smile. Seeing this was the best she would get, facepalming with a groan, she entered the room where the call had come from. The ears on her sister's head twitched as she rolled her eyes.

It was Sam who heard the soft footsteps outside, than the slight pit pat of rain. The raspy breaths. A power nobody knew he had. He one that kept him out of sight most times. He had been in his room. Sitting by the bay window and tracing the rain drops wih his pale finger. Like any other day he had been attending to his own buisness, to himself. Whilst others fought or argued. He was sitting on his own, in the silence, wih nobody but himself to keep company with. When at last he heard her first coming, his first instinct was to flee from sight so he needn't be introduced. But something had caught his attention. Somthing about her. The way she walked, the emotions he felt from her, the pain and agony. Than the boy decided to follow the others. Down the stairs and into their hiding spots while the brothers introduced her. He held a door with his small hand and clutched it his knuckles going white. This was the first time he had seen someone knew in a While. It gave off a strange feeling. Slightly curious the boy with a pale complextion and dark eyes stepped into the light. He blinked wordlessly hoping not to be seen but rather to be ignored. Which always happened out of normalcy.

April was confused, letting Angel lead her to the fire. Her eyes met Sam's, and her breath caught in her throat as she stared at him. She looked away, glancing at the others. "Where... Where am I?"

The eight year old boy didn't even flinch when April turned to face him. He just stood like a ghost umong the house. Going int wherever he was needed and staying away where he was not. As she looked away and huddled by the fire he took a catious step. His eyes where laced with hope, compassion and understanding through the midst of the insane event. Being the small and curious boy his shyness held him back for a moment before curiosity took a hold and he was propelled towards the couch directly across from her. Taking a seat and warming his own small hands by the fire. "The house of echo's" Came a hushed response. He blinked without looking at her.

Peter poked his head out from around a corner, his ears drooping. He was quite shy, so it was a bit hard for him to socialize. He walked out all the way and sat down in a chair, wrapping a blanket around himself.

April looked around. "But I... I died. I jumped of the building- I should be dead!"

"We're all dead." Rubin said softly, a hint of a smile coming to him as he looked at April. "Each and every one of us jumped off a building, or hung ourselves, or maybe things even worse. This is the house of the Echoes, like Sammy over there said- We're Echoes of the past."

Angel smiled at Peter, walking over and sitting on the floor by Peter's chair.

Louise stood in the room, her hair draped over her face as she stared at the floor. She'd usually be making sarcastic, witty remarks, but she felt stiff, unable to move with the tension in the air. Her ears flattened, her tail curling behind her as she focused on her sisters swaying back and forth on her feet. She let out an irritated breath, her short attention span and inpatients made it hard to simply stand silently. She fumbled with her hair, letting it fall through her fingers, waiting for someone to say something before she made a move.

Sam let a smile curl on his lips as he was called his pet name. Than he sat cross legged on his couch, casting a look over at Peter. "Yeah. We died!" he said carelessly like a child asking about something as inappropriate as that. Like a normal undead child.

April looked around. "But I... I died. I jumped of the building- I should be dead!"

"We're all dead." Rubin said softly, a hint of a smile coming to him as he looked at April. "Each and every one of us jumped off a building, or hung ourselves, or maybe things even worse. This is the house of the Echoes, like Sammy over there said- We're Echoes of the past."

Angel smiled at Peter, walking over and sitting on the floor by Peter's chair.

Peter nodded. He himself had injected himself with a poison in his bloodstream. He died in his bedroom, curled up in his bed sheets. He glanced at Angel and smiled down at him, getting out of the chair and sitting next to him. He really liked Angel. He was sweet.

Caleb's ear flicked at the sound of Rubin announces a new arrival. He approached April cautiously, "So, you're the new member? Cool, I'm Caleb." He said waving at her. His shirt covered the scar across his neck, indicating what killed him. "Your death must have been quick and painless." He said quietly. "Mine hurt and was messy." He added shyly.

"Mine was quick, but I doubt anyone who was watching managed to get away before they saw me hit the concrete." April muttered, although she seemed a little more relaxed. "So this is the afterlife for people who committed suicide?"
Angel smiled back at Peter, before piping up to answer April. "K-Kinda, I guess. We hav-haven't met anyone else that isn't li-like us yet. U-um... Wh-what's y-your story?"
April froze. "My... Story?"
"Y-yeah. Wh-what dr-drove y-you to-" Angel was cut off by Rubin.
"Shut up Ang." Rubin hissed. "What's wrong with you? She doesn't want to talk about it, idiot."
Angel flinched, and closed his mouth.

Lainey slightly approached April, a small smile on her face. "Uh, hi.. I'm Lainey. It's nice to meet you." She said softly in a friendly tone.

She noticed Louise had snuck into their room and sighed. "I'll have to talk later." "LOUISE!" She whisper-screamed at her sister, closing the door behind her.

sam curled on the couch. Hugging his knees to his chest as everyone became tense. He would use his power to silence them but it was pretty hard. Considering his age and how he had yet to figure out all the little secrets about it. Finally he scooted off the couch and looked at everyone, tears where in his eyes as he stared dead at peter Rubin and Angel. "Shut up!" for the first time the right year old spoke up. He hated the concept if how he died. It was an awful one. Being in grade three it was resonable to still have baths. So like any other day he was having one. It this time he wasn't intending of getting out of the bathroom. He was trying to.. You know when he couldn't stand the feeling of the water and no breath. It hurt. But when his mom asked him if he was alright he knew he had To hurry up or else he wouldn't have another chance. With that he managed to do it when his mom came in to see his last moment. At that point he regret it. Than it was over.

(April found the house; After going inside, she was greeted by Angel and Rubin; Rubin called everyone in to meet her; Rubin got mad at Angel and stormed off; Angel's now trying to not cry while he's with Peter; April's confused as hell.)

Rubin smirked at Peter. "What's wrong, kitten?" He purred, before standing up. His demon wings stretched out to their full capacity, before he flapped them to create a quick breeze and launch up towards the top of the stairs.

April glanced around.

Peter frowned. "It's okay, Angel. I don't hate you. In fact, I-I like you a lot." He blushed faintly, smiling once again. He shot another glare at Rubin, his rabbit tail twitching angrily.

Angel smiled sadly. "I like you too." He confessed, leaning his head on Peter's shoulder.

Peter still had his arm wrapped around Angel's shoulders. He smiled weakly, hugging him close and closing his eyes. "Don't worry about him.. He'll get over it some day, I promise.."

A low growl was heard as blood red eyes opened in front of peter, angel and Rubin. It was Sasuke he had appeared from the shadows and was watching him though the two holes on his mask. His shadow red and black tail moved side to side as two cute black wolf ears moved a bit. As he tilts his head at them in a cute was as winter appears behind Sasuke and pets Sasukes head making Sasukes tail wag a bit as winter smiles a kind smile " are we late for the party? " says winter in a kind calm voice

April gazed at them with interest. "Hello." She waved slightly.
Rubin scoffed, turning away and disappearing down the hallway.
Angel smiled. "H-hi." He said quietly.

Sasuke smiles " hello~ My names winter and this is my brother Sasuke also don't worry he doesn't bite but I do" he says as he winks at them all.

Sasukes tail wags a bit as he begins to suddenly begins to stand up showing that he was much taller than everyone

" then don't look at him... he has found comfort in someone else let him live with that one and if needed with me as well " his eyes glowed softly as his shadows covered Rubins hand " just stay calm and only...." he thinks a bit then looks at Rubin " look at me and me only I can calm you and I can fix you only if ..." his eyes glowed madly as he looks Rubin " you give yourself to me and to me only." He begins to sing and slow chilling but kind voice " Say farewell to heaven my friend. Come to me, bury your sorrows." He steps back and holds out his hand his eyes glowing madly as shadows begins to cover his feet " temptation awaits the condemned~"

Winter smiles at them as he holds out his arms " and you two are peter and angel I believe Sasuke as left us for .... some prey so how about we all get to know each other more"

He tilts his head in a creepy way as the shadows begins to carry Rubin " how Annoying to deal with this so early but fine" the shadows held the beast up " I'll teach you some manners" he says as he moves his hand down and his shadows go down hard causing the beast to hit the floor hard

[CENTER]inside the beast was the small eight year old loosing breath as he was slammed. He cried for Angel or someone but he knew it only came out as shrieking monster roars. In order to escape he would have to loose his fear. Shutting his eyes the boy whispered "I'm... I'm not afraid.. I'm not afraid" until suddenly the beast exploded in golden sparks and on the floor was the right year old boy curled in a ball.

He laughs coldly as he crouches down in front of the boy he grabs his head roughly " if you tell anyone about this not only will you die but I'll kill anyone else who feels heroic like you did " he says darkly as he roughly let's go " don't get in my way " he says as he picks up Rubin again this time he disappears into the darkness leaving the boy all alone
