this is a bit embarrassing, but can somebody tell me how to ping / mention somebody? i cannot figure out how for the life of me and i dont want to ping a random person in a random post in an attempt to test it myself :eek:
im referring to @s, i.e FeebleNeedle, i need to know for things like ping lists, bumping people as reminders, etc.
feel free to ping me as an example - also, please tell me if i should be calling them mentions and not pings because ive got no clue on these things :wut:
for context, if you couldnt tell, i am very new to forums :(
Yugo.

To mention people simply put @ before their username. As for bumping, for people they have different bumping times, take me for example I allow bumping once every two days. Somebody else might allow bumping once every two weeks. As for bumping threads you simply wait a day then say bump! FeebleNeedle

Hah! It's ok! I still mess up mentions to this day! For bumps; I would recomend VMing the person and bumping them that way! For mentions/pings; all you have to do is put the at {@} symbol and their user name behind it!
Examples;
~Half-A-Witch-Ace~

If your asking where to put it, you can put it anywhere that makes sense in your post! Some exapmles are;
-After a characters name {Ex. I need LilyLeaf [ ~Half-A-Witch-Ace~ ] to help me swim!}
-At the end of a post
-At the start of a post
-Wherever you'd like it!

Sometimes the @ doesn’t work for me. You can also use the coding, which just uses the word “MENTION”. It would look like this: [MENTION]Oci[/MENTION except you close the brackets!

thank you all so much! i didnt know that a simple @ worked because it doesnt show up in post previews for me and i didnt want to try it on a random post. i might go with the coding like oci mentioned in case the normal @ doesnt work
its also good to know how bumps worked because i didnt know it wasnt just a mention - ill stick to VMs for bumps like Ace recommended :kittyface:
As @/bambii said, to mention/ping (whatever you call it) , you use ‘@ ‘ and the user’s name. There’s also another option. On the bottom, you can ‘quote’ their post. But that’s only if they started a roleplay or a post.

id like to ask if its okay to quote posts regularly? i didnt know it had a similar function to mentions (i think ill just call them mentions yeah) but its really useful for connecting responses together. its hard for me to know because im somebody who doesnt mind the notifications :wut:

If you don't get a mention to work make sure to check that there is noting disrupting it
Example
[ Spotty ] - works
[ @Spotty ] - doesn't work because it has other code in the middle
[ o@Spotty ] - Doesn't work because the o is touching the mention (disrupting it)
