The first thing Shrikepaw noticed was the silence.
His dreams were never silent, filled with the haunting shrieks of his mother as she died, and the time before, when she would sob over a mate that was never coming home. Over Shrikepaw's father, Sundew, that wretched-
He cut off that train of thought. It was silent, so he could not be asleep, yet he felt no warmth from his denmates, no snores, no breathing, so he was not awake.
He OpeNEed hIS???seyE
The world shifted and twisted around him, the sun and moon swirling in the sky in a mad dance, throwing shadows this way and that. In an instant, everything righted, trees slamming their roots back into the earth, leaves blowing away from the impact. Dizzy and overwhelmed, Shrikepaw vomited in the middle of the unfamiliar clearing.
Yeah. Not his best moment.
Suddenly, he realized he was standing, not curled up like he had originally thought. He observed his surroundings, taking notice of the dark sap that dripped from trees, the screams of foxes in the undergrowth, and the flapping of hawks overhead. Hm. So he was in the Dark Forest. Maybe he'd meet his father, he thought, with a bitter taste in his mouth. His father, a loner. His father, the one who broke his mother's heart figuratively, and then returned to break it physically.
His father, a perfect representation of rogues and loners alike, because both were equally as nasty and undeserving of anything good, scum to rot and be eaten by foxes and crows-
Nope, Shrikepaw, that's what Koiblossom called an inside thought. He took a cautious step, wondering what his purpose was here. Life was not merciful enough to offer him any form of rest.

Oopsy accidentally made him a lil Shakespearian but that's okay lol
cottagecake Koiblossom won't be an active part of this, but figured you may want to follow along in the story :eyes:
