"I should be fine with that, let me just place back in the gears and screws and check if it works." Alex said as he brought the watch back to his work desk carefully. He grabbed the gears, placing them carefully back in the way they were so that they would fit perfectly into their respected places, also careful not to damage them. When he placed the last one in place, he placed the front cover back on and adjusted the time to his pocket watch, then started the watch to see if it worked, and it did. He smiled and placed his tools in a secret compartment in his workbench, closing the lid on it to make the desk look normal. He walked on over to Raven, and said in a nice manner, "Shall we get going?"

Lainey burst into her shop, flicking on the lights and rushing to her lab. She picked up the mechanical wings she'd been making, gently placing them on the table. Spook and Owl sat on two chairs, watching her. Lainey grabbed her tools, she'd finished most of them, all she needed to do was finish and add details. She hadn't had a customer today, so she stayed in the back for hours while checking if anyone walked in. Finally, she finished the invention.

Maurine always found it unsettling, how the streets seemed to always be filled with people. A lot of expectations to be filled, a lot of people to look down at. Or up, in his case. He melded in through the bustling crowds, snaking his way through until he was out of the mix of strangers. Could anybody trust each other here? They certainly couldn't trust him, though he aimed to make them think otherwise. Nobody knew of his connections, aside from others like him. He wanted to keep it that way.

Ray pushed through the crowd, moving in the opposite direction of the flow of human traffic. It was one of his oldest tricks, really. The thief would bump into the many people and grab whatever was in their left pocket. Even if they did notice through all of the commotion, they wouldn't even know who he was or where he went. His own pockets were stuffed enough with wallets, phones, and loose change that he gave his work a break. Failing to notice the shorter man coming toward him, he bumped into him and instinctively darted through the crowd. Whenever anyone pushed him hard enough, it was often a red flag that he had been caught thieving.

What was that? Someone must've pushed into him. He caught a quick glimpse before the person slinked away, and he muttered under his breath. Not even an apology? He tried to follow the path that the perpetrator took, being a bit more forceful with his motions through the mess of people. This was ridiculous. There was only one type of person that sneaked away from a bump into someone, and it was a lowly pickpocketer. Just what he needed today. The man continued to follow the presumed path of the culprit. If he really was a pickpocketer... Maurine would definitely be taking his things back.

Ray, still cautious of pursuit, although he hadn't realized he really was being pursued. He made his way out of the large doors of the train station, grabbing a handful of change and launching it into the front of the crowd by the door so the confusion would slow anyone down. Fairly certain he had either lost the pursuer or that he was safe all along, Ray dropped down on the rim of the water fountain and collecting pennies. The pickpocketer looked over his shoulder once and saw someone coming his way, although he assumed it was nothing related to himself.

She nods to the building directly in front of Lainey's. There are several people inside, admiring mechanical masterpieces. Two couples linger outside, looking at the wings on display. "Could you do it?"

Ray didn't even bother to check what he had offered to the stranger.

He just hoped the stranger wouldn't check inside, but he didn't have problems with that before. "For the record, I'm not an idiot," he added, stretching, "You ought to think twice before overestimating the weight of my fingers. If I did steal from you, I doubt you'd have noticed in the pushy crowd at the train station. I either bumped into you or did just that and stole from you. Make up your mind before you question me further, friend."

"Seems so," Ray replied, somewhat relieved, "I lied, by the way. I have all of the time in the world; thieving is my occupation after all. What's got you in a rush?" The pickpocketer set all of the wallets on a nearby bench for retrieving, if anyone was even coming back from the train station rather than going somewhere else. He returned to the fountain briefly, stuffing his roll of dollars in his pocket.

Ray hesitated. He was unsure whether to use his alias or real name. "Ray," he replied trustingly, shaking Maurine's hand. "Thieving isn't glamorous by all means but it has its perks," he defended his occupation, reasoned, "What's your calling?"

Ray's blood went ice-cold once Maurine's hand touched his shoulder. That's how the last one acted... He wanted nothing to do with the people who were so tenacious in putting a bullet in his head. "That's vague," he drawled, pretending not to have a clue of what he was talking about, "As long as it pays well, eh?" He let out a boisterous laugh.

Ray felt as if he had just been punched in the gut. Maurine's meeting was too good to be true. The thief came to the conclusion he had been assigned to kill him, although he may have just been another mafia man who heard of him. Why did I have to put that much trust into him... I should have stuck to John like usual! "No- who's Ray Williams?" he inquired, praying his lie was convincing, but everything about Ray's appearance clearly seemed to line up too well. All the thief wanted to do was get up and run away, but he couldn't even walk away without being caught. Every since his big mafia score Ray had been laying low, but it seemed now he couldn't linger in the petty theft area any longer.

"You don't know a Ray Williams? How very strange. I could've sworn you were him." he nudged the man with his elbow, cocking his head to the side. "You seem worried, Ray. Talia opened the door to the Clockmaster's shop. "Master? Are you here?" He must be running late again... Well, it's time to open up shop. She switched the lights and power on, and walked behind the counter to begin the day.

Bronze glanced around the city streets. Glad that's over... He weaved through the crowd, staying out of the sight of most. That rich lady has he wallet visible... a pity if it disappeared on her... He extended his nimble fingers towards the small pouch- but the woman walked into an engineering shop, leaving Bronze behind. Sigh...

Talia hummed to herself as she cleaned the shop counter. Things have sure been slow today...

"I should be fine with that, let me just place back in the gears and screws and check if it works." Alex said as he brought the watch back to his work desk carefully. He grabbed the gears, placing them carefully back in the way they were so that they would fit perfectly into their respected places, also careful not to damage them. When he placed the last one in place, he placed the front cover back on and adjusted the time to his pocket watch, then started the watch to see if it worked, and it did. He smiled and placed his tools in a secret compartment in his workbench, closing the lid on it to make the desk look normal. He walked on over to Raven, and said in a nice manner, "Shall we get going?"


Raven nodded, adjusting her black sunhat, the black raven feathers reflecting the light. As they went out the door, she opened her black umbrella, to keep the sun off her face. She smiled at Fang as they walked. "I have to work at my grandmother's Shakespeare bookstore this evening... would you like to go with me to help?"

Ray eased a little, however he couldn't completely look past Maurine's unexpected praise. "That's one way of saying it, I suppose," he chuckled, "Thieving takes quite a lacking of remorse and options, and lucky for me, that's exactly what I have. I'm sure you get it, right?" After a brief pause, Ray continued, "Petty theft wasn't always my... vocation, albeit I was doing something somewhat close. It was nothing like a real employment, just larger-scale robbery, y'know? Home invasion, conning, the occasional bank robbery... stuff like that."

The drop ended up on a rather comfy mattress, leading to a stone slide. Valerie pulled out a small wooden sled. and set it on the mattress. "All aboard?" She smiled as Lainey plopped onto the sled. "Sorry for the wooden landing. Should've been quicker." She shrugged and Carlie leaned on the front. The sled tipped forwards with a groan and sped down the stone slide. It went up a ramp, sending them flying through a gap. They landed at the very edge of the other side, speeding up again. Carlie inched towards the middle of the board, and she sat in-between Lainey (back) and Valerie (front). Valerie mumbled something and a small metallic steering wheel appeared. She spun it and they went through a dark tunnel, missing a brightly lit entrance. Carlie smiled at Lainey, knowing that she must be terrified. The sled popped out into a brightly lit room. It was spacious, and rightly so. It had three desks in a corner, and a giant bookshelf filled with all types of engineering books and articles. On the other side were three princess-style beds. Each one had a small chest in front, a place for belongings. In the back wall, shelves filled with many tinkers lined the wall. Half of it was Carlie's stuff, mostly wings and helicopter hats and anything related to flight. Valerie's side was a little more mismatched. She had wings in a corner, and every other sort of things on the rest of it.

"Luck to an extent, yes," Ray replied, hardly fazed by what Maurine described to be luck, "It was a matter of time someone would find me. That's how the mafia is. I don't regret doing what I did, mind you. I suppose it was fairly unwise to make use of my real identity than my alias, but you seem surrounded by some sort of odd enigma. I was experiencing some sort of intrigue." The thief's cheeks still went red, because he still had little reason to trust Maurine with his name.

"Agreed," Ray swiftly responded, although he had more hanging on the line than Maurine did if their identities were revealed to the public. Never had the thief felt so inexperienced and helpless around the clever mafia member. Ray had been used to being around morons in his heists and scams for so long that he had forgotten other people could have wits, albeit he was less cunning than he had been a couple years ago. Have I gone rusty from laying low so long?

He made his way back through the streets, weaving through the crowds again.

She picked up the set of wings and handed it to Valerie. "Can you show her how you fly? Pretty Pretty Please???" She pleaded. Valerie sighed and put the angel wings. She flipped the bookshelf around to reveal a large stadium-like room designed for flying. Several hoops were suspended in the air. Valerie put her arms through two metal straps and started to shake them. The wings began to flap. "I have to flap it. Technically, it can stay up forever. But the actual speed boost..." She flicked a feather into another direction and small metal boosters popped from around the wing. "That's the 20 minutes part" She rocketed through the hoops, flapping and diving around. She began to dive towards the ground and flew back up in the nick of time.

They reached the aisle with produce, and Raven unhooked her arm from his to pick up a watermelon. She smiled. "I have always loved watermelon this time of year... but I have no room for it at home." She set it down and picked up a few oranges, getting a paper bag from the bag dispenser and sticking the oranges in it. She then hooked her arm around Fang's again and they continued on through the aisles.

They reached an aisle with bread, cookies, and cakes. Raven grinned and picked up a package of chocolate fudge cookies, and set it in the bag, then she continued pulling Fang through the aisles.

Fang said, reacting very quick, the mechanism sliding the knife out from under his wrist, pushing his arm forward as he moved his wrist at a 90 degree angle, pushing his hand into the man's stomach as the knife was out, twisting it a bit to give the man more pain before pulling it out to be ready to strike any of his body parts that would fly at him.


The man cried out in pain, and when the blade left his belly, he used his hands to try to cover the blood spilling from the wound. He cursed. "Dammit, you little idiots! Why the heck?!!" He stood there a moment before running off.

Raven stayed shaking against Fang's side for a moment before slowly stepping to where the man had stood. There was about ten small splashes of blood there, and there was a trail of blood spatters in the direction of where the man had run off. Raven put her hand over her mouth and turned to Fang. "Oh my... what did we just do...?"

"Protect ourselves, that's what." Alex said, concealing his mechanism before Raven could see it. The blade still had blood on it, and it dripped a bit on the edge of the sleeve, but he ignored it, and lowered his arms, the blood dripping slowly from the concealed blade. He looked at the trail the man had gone, and said, "Let's go, Raven before everyone starts looking at us."

After a few minutes, they reached her home, a white painted, red shuttered, three story home with iron gates, roses growing all over the yard, and ivy growing on the sides. It fit Raven perfectly, since she was gothic, just like her home.

Her arm still hooked in Fang's she stepped up to the door and rang the doorbell. The door was opened by the maid. The maid's eyes brightened at seeing Fang. "Why, Fang! I see Raven brought you. Come on in!"

He said silently to Raven as he went straight to the restroom of her home, closing and locking the door. He rolled up the sleeve with the mechanism and loosened the belts holding it to his arm, using a washstand to clean the blade of the knife, ensuring that all the blood was off, and then cleaned his hand to keep the suspicion. He soon placed the mechanism back on his wrist, tightening the straps, and rolled down his sleeve, a bit of blood on the collar still. Soon he exited the restroom, and joined back with Raven.

Raven smiled. "Sounds good." She loved duck meat.

Raven turned to Fang. "Want to go to the piano room?"

Alex continued playing the piano as Raven sang. He liked the way she sang, with her following the right pitches and knowing when to sing during the song, it was as if he was in a beautiful garden and had found someone standing nearby a pond and singing a small tune. He kept on playing, his timing and rhythm coming in handy. Sooner or later he finished the song, and looked over at Raven with a smile on his face.
