bee's paws planted firmly on the ground in front of him, his back shaping into a firm arch as he lifted what he could of his lame body into a very vain stretch. he nuzzled the adoptive mother of his, coming to rest beneath her and shoving his teensy nose into her underbelly. his milky eyes glanced to shinefang intently for a response before closing and continuing to push up to pipitchirp's thin stomach. he wanted warmth; he wanted food; he wanted love. his whole body convulsed as he felt his stomach churn.. he had been laying silently by that rock out in the wild for several days without food or water. he was starved and severely dehydrated but managed to stay happy- however, that need for food was coming too much to stand.

Shinefang reappeared with herbs in his mouth. He placed them all on the ground, and placed a paw on the borage, sweet-smelling an fussy leaves. "Here you are, Pipitchirp. The queen who eats these will be able to make more and better milk. It'll help him start gaining weight."

He turned to the little kit next. "You've been through a hard time, huh little buddy?" He meowed softly. "We're gonna get you fixed up, ok? First I'm gonna do something for your eyes." Shinefang used his paw to pull a wilted, yellow flower toward himself. "This is celandine. It'll help your eye feel better. I'll squeeze some juice from the flower into your eye, and its gonna feel kind of funny, but it'll help. Tilt your head up for me, ok?" Shinefang took the yellow flower in his teeth, and began working the herb sideways through his teeth to try and push the juice to one part of the flower. There were days when Shinefang was glad he was the only medicine cat. When his own eye had been injured, the medicine cat at the time had used celandine, and so he had some idea of how it worked, but it was the only experience he could draw from, and frankly, he hadn't been able to see it very well at the time. A small amount of bitter juice touched his tongue and he spat, reflexively, wasting the flower. Straightening up, he cleared his throat and grabbed a second. "This is why I bring extra." This time, he tried flattening out the flower with his paws and picking it up when he was ready to puncture the petals. That worked much better. "Don't blink, he told the kit, hoping he'd be able to manage."

bee widened his olive eyes, leaning back on his haunches and tilting his head back. his jaws clenched together. he wanted to be able to see but the idea of something feeling weird wasn't exactly enticing.. the tiny tom didn't question the authority of the medicine cat with his mistake. he wanted to, but mistakes were going to be made. it was inevitable. his fine claws sunk into the soft moss below him. his shoulders rubbed together, holding his tongue. ready.

Streampaw limped into the Nursery, her injured leg hardly touched the ground, so that she didn't scratch it on the ground. She glanced around the den in search for a kit to talk to, since all the apprentice's were out with their mentors. 'I might as well come here for someone to hang out with,' thought the young molly.

Lashes fluttering as she sat back and evaluated the small bonding experience between the Medicine Cat and Bee. Pipitchirp couldn't deny the smile of gratification that spread across her face as she watched the scenario play out. Shinefang instinctively spitting the flower out somewhat humoured the she-cat, and she couldn't help but chime a small, "That must've tasted nice." At the sight. She couldn't help but feel an urge of motherly worry for the little kit, noticing his claws slitting into the earth below. However, she had put her trust into Shinefang to take care of her kit, and she didn't want to seem disrespectful by questioning him. After being in the clan for her entire life, she also didn't want to seem untrustworthy of the medicine cat, as she had put her life into his paws on a few occasions. "It'll be alright, sugar. Don't worry." Her soothing words rolled from her tongue with ease, smooth like honey.

Streampaw limped into the Nursery, her injured leg hardly touched the ground, so that she didn't scratch it on the ground. She glanced around the den in search for a kit to talk to, since all the apprentice's were out with their mentors. 'I might as well come here for someone to hang out with,' thought the young molly.
sunkit watched the other kits either stay with their mothers or play with each other. she stayed quiet tucking her paws into her chest and kept watching not noticing the apprentice enter the nursery.

Stumbling out of the nest he tried to pick up his brother's secant but Cloudkit was coming in with two mice.
Feather kit flicked his ear and headed over to meet his brother. "Wake early?" He asked blinking her clear yellow-green eyes.

Flicking his tail for no apparent reason he came to stand closer to her. It was good to see her, interact with his younger sibling. She may be adopted but he still loved her as much as a littermate. His brilliant blue eyes shined in the light showing though the warm nursery that had been worked on every moon to keep it that way.

She was wondering how everyone was since she hasn't really talked to all of them in a while and hearing about the twoleg monsters she grew worried about their safety . Cloudkit dipped hia head at his brother, setting down one of the mice on the ground in front of Featherkit. "I slept well enough last night. I finally got some peaceful sleep last night than I usually do." meowed the kit, giving his paw a lick as he kept an eye on his brother.



Featherkit sat with a little thump. "That's good." He meowed. Placing a snow white paw on the mouse he pulled it closer. "Thanks for the mouse." He added. Crouching down he began to eat the mouse with slow bites. After a few bites he looked up at cloud kit. "When we're don't do you wanna explore?" He asked with a whisper after looking around the nursery to make sure no one was there.

Cardinalkit blinked her eyes open and yawned she was curled up she slept really long after her conversation with her father she perked her head up and smiled lazily seeing one of her siblings her brown eyes were glazed with laziness her bones felt numb but in a good way she yawned again
" hey marblesky . Is everything alright with the others? "She asked with a tilt of her head. She was wondering how everyone was since she hasn't really talked to all of them in a while and hearing about the twoleg monsters she grew worried about their safety . Cardinalkit smiled and nodded in acknowledgement " I'm good . So how you been doing? " she meowed her ears flicked as she heard some squeals from other kits she looked over at some two random ones chasing each other in a circle she giggled and looked back at her brother " also ...there aren't any monsters near by are they? Im just worried is all " she meowed then she thought she should clarify that just in case " I mean twoleg monsters " she added .

The tom tried not to worry about stuff like that so he never really thought Cardinalkit would worry about it. But she was young and young cars always had something to worry or be curious about.

Cardinalkit sighed in relief with another smile " that's good . For both things " she meowed and stood up now shaking her fur and feeling awake she flicked her tail and held her head high then she smirked followed by a gasp " hey what's that ! " she meowed sounding surprised as she looked behind her brother she hoped she could catch him off guard and she can have the upper hand in their play fight which was one of the things she loves to do . play fighting with her father was always fun as well.

Cloudkit dipped his head as his brother thanked him for the mouse. The tom kit sat down and began to eat his prey as well. When his brother looked up at him with a tilt of his head. ¨Sure. Where do you plan on exploring?¨ wondered Cloudkit, taking another bite of his freshly killed mouse.

Sycamorekit was a light furred grey tabby with a white underbelly with light green eyes. She was nice and friendly, yet she was shy also, but once she got to know someone she was a bit playful. She stood in the nursery battering at a mossball playfully happily she was perfectly fine playing by herself, unlike most kits.

A Maine-Coon tom cat sat off to the side of the nursery by himself. He wasn't sure of where his siblings were and he had thought about finding them, before deciding that he was too tired to bother. He stayed silent as he watched other kits bounce around and tackle one another. His paws were itching with excitement, eager to stand up and join in but Nettlekit stayed still. His amber eyes scanned the nursery curiously, searching for something really interesting. Honestly, that was quite a hard feat. There wasn't much that happened in the nursery. Every day was the same and it would be like this for about another 3 moons. The tom sighed. He wanted to be an apprentice now! He jumped to his paws, deciding that he would have to occupy himself now and make today go by quickly. If he could do this every day, the moons would go by quickly and he would be an apprentice in no time! The tom grinned, proud of himself for being able to think up such a good idea so quickly. The tom puffed out his chest proudly at what was really a small achievement. But he didn't know that.
The tom scurried around, trying to find some place that he could fit in. The young cat wasn't shy, in fact he was very comfortable wherever he went. He could slip into WindClan's camp and curl up in a warrior's nest without a problem. The tom noticed a she-cat batting at a ball of moss by herself. His eyes lit up, he could go play with her! He trotted over to the kit quickly, ready to ask if he could play. He wasn't going to take no for an answer. He wanted to be an apprentice quickly! The tom was tall for a kit his age and had lots of fur, because of this, he seemed to loom over the other kit. "I'm Nettlekit," he announced confidently. "Can I play with you?" The tom was going to play with her either way but he had been taught by his parents to be as polite as possible.

Sycamorekit turned her head to the huge kit her eyes grew wide this must be a five moon old kit...great Starclan, act natural. Don’t panic. Just treat him like my mother.,” Wow.” She meowed sounding awestruck as she stared at Nettlekit looking at him absorbing his size and confidence into her small sized brain,” I- I umm...I’m Sycamorekit. I am two moons old. I...I thought five moon old kits don’t play, especially with two moon old kits.” She stammered way to go Sycamorekit...answer his question mousebrain.,” to answer your question I umm...normally that is...play by myself. If you want the umm...mossball...I can...err...give you the...umm...mossball...since I suppose that’s why you asked to...well...play with me...so you probably are one of those like...well, you know...kits that are obsessed with becoming an...umm...like...well...I guess...an apprentice...err...or not?” she asked annoyed by how she never could simply state an answer and how she included all the ‘umm...like..well..I guess’ in her responses. As she knew it made her seem rather feeble and insecure. She forced her fur to lie flat as she stared at Nettlekit trying to figure out why a kit who to her appeared to at the youngest four moons old, wanted to play mossball with her...she couldn’t figure if he was joking her size or what so she stayed silent.
(Yeah she’s a bit annoying with all the umm...I err...well...like...I guess..’s sorry for her annoying voice)

At least she had her flowers. She slowly raise to her paws, a yawn escaping her mouth but she tried to cut if off. A purple petal was mix into her fur, like always she had her messy fur. Her mother stop bothering her with it. Etherealkit enjoy having messy fur because she usually had petal in it- petals smell quite wonderful. a kit glance her way, whispering something to the other kit. Etherealkit ignored it, use to the whispers that were probably toward her. the stares. no one really seem to understand her love of flowers as much as she did. yet, it was okay. She look around the nursery, staring at the ground. what could she do now? she didn't have much friends to play with..

Hawkspeed had been laying outside with no one to talk to. No one to ask questions to. No one to ask questions about. He decided if he wanted to ask questions, the best place to go was the nursery. Kits there always had their own questions and although they might not listen to his, there were almost no other cats in camp that would even tolerate hearing a question from him. So, he decided the nursery was his best bet and here he was now, ducking through the nursery entrance with his bulky figure. He looked around and the first cat he spotted was a messy looking spotted she-kit. Flower petals and grass strewn all through her fur. Hawkspeed tilted his head and approached the small cat,"Hi there," he mewed with a smile. This kit wasn't playing with anyone. He wondered why. So he asked,"Why aren't you playing with the other kits?" and he had one more question. If anyone knew him, they would know that he can't keep any of his questions to himself, so he had to ask,"Why do you leave your fur all messy like that? Why was it even like that in the first place?" by now, Hawkspeed was basically a shower of questions.

Hawkspeed had come to talk with someone. He hadn't expected to find a (supposedly) sick kit! "Why are your eyes droopy!? Oh wait... That's because you're tired..." now, he knew, he was fussing over that same things that he had been before, so he decided to stop and give Etherealkit some time to actually answer his questions.

Hawkspeed blink,"Why is falling asleep considered a burden?" he asked, genuinely confused,"Are you getting enough sleep? I mean, you sound tired right now..." he pointed out, now growing a bit concerned, as any good warrior should if a kit sounded as tired as Etherealkit. Hawkspeed didn't know why no one had bothered to report it to Shinefang. Maybe Etherealkit needed poppy seeds or something,"Do you need me to go get Shinefang? Sycamorekit turned her head to the huge kit her eyes grew wide this must be a five moon old kit...great Starclan, act natural. Don’t panic. Just treat him like my mother.,” Wow.” She meowed sounding awestruck as she stared at Nettlekit looking at him absorbing his size and confidence into her small sized brain,” I- I umm...I’m Sycamorekit. I am two moons old. I...I thought five moon old kits don’t play, especially with two moon old kits.” She stammered way to go Sycamorekit...answer his question mousebrain.,” to answer your question I umm...normally that is...play by myself. If you want the umm...mossball...I can...err...give you the...umm...mossball...since I suppose that’s why you asked to...well...play with me...so you probably are one of those like...well, you know...kits that are obsessed with becoming an...umm...like...well...I guess...an apprentice...err...or not?” she asked annoyed by how she never could simply state an answer and how she included all the ‘umm...like..well..I guess’ in her responses. As she knew it made her seem rather feeble and insecure. She forced her fur to lie flat as she stared at Nettlekit trying to figure out why a kit who to her appeared to at the youngest four moons old, wanted to play mossball with her...she couldn’t figure if he was joking her size or what so she stayed silent.

The Maine Coon blinked at the other kit, as he tried to make sense out of her words. Five moon old kit? What did she mean five moon old kit? Was she talking to someone else? Had she even realised that he was talking to her? Confusion clouded his amber eyes as he became dizzy with all the questions. Ohh! She must think I'm five moons old, he finally realised. The tom grinned, proud that he was able to solve such a difficult problem. Or rather, able to solve a problem that was difficult in his mind. "Yes, I want to play mossball with you. Well actually I don't really mind what we play, I just want to play something," he responded cheerfully.
What? How did she know? He thought. The tom thought his plan was very smart, and unique. The logic in it wasn't very obvious, which meant no one could steal it. At least that's what he liked to believe. He had only asked to play with the kit and that had nothing to do with becoming an apprentice. A warrior probably wouldn't see any logic in it unless he explained it out. This kit could read minds. That was the only possible explanation. Nettlekit narrowed his eyes suspiciously at Sycamorekit, he couldn't say anything about it though. He wouldn't want to be wrong "No, I'm sorry, I don't see why you would think that," he continued, putting on a fake polite smile. It was very convincing. He didn't want to seem desperate. Obviously she can read minds, that's why. Nettlekit wouldn't say he was obsessed with becoming an apprentice. That wasn't the right word for it. But rather, he would say that he was interested in becoming an apprentice.

For both things " she meowed and stood up now shaking her fur and feeling awake she flicked her tail and held her head high then she smirked followed by a gasp " hey what's that ! " she meowed sounding surprised as she looked behind her brother she hoped she could catch him off guard and she can have the upper hand in their play fight which was one of the things she loves to do . play fighting with her father was always fun as well.


Marblesky chuckled. He watched his sister but as she gasped he turned his head to see what's he was asking about. He'd assumed that she'd spotted some sort of pray or something brought into the nursery for one of the queens but saw nothing out of the ordinary. The silver tabby was now a bit confused. Do I just not see it? He wondered. Then he figured it out. "Oh. That's just a smart little kit." He purred turning back to his sister almost expecting to be met with her paws mid leap.



Cloudkit dipped his head as his brother thanked him for the mouse. The tom kit sat down and began to eat his prey as well. When his brother looked up at him with a tilt of his head. ¨Sure. Where do you plan on exploring?¨ wondered Cloudkit, taking another bite of his freshly killed mouse.


Feather kit smiled as he brother asked his idea. Taking a bite of the mouse he had in front of him he pondered how to say it. "Well I was thinking we could explore outside camp. The forest. " He meowed after he swallowed his mouthful. " We already explored the whole camp why not check outside." He added.

When she heard him speak she emedietly perked her head up and frowned " hey! I'm trying. is that a good comment or a rude one? " she meowed she sounded whiney when she spoke she honestly couldn't tell the difference but with the pur followed after it she thought it might have been meant in a good way but she wasn't quite sure.

" she meowed, most of them had old timing beliefs too. yet Etherealkit was too young to understand it fully. a small smile grew on her face again, she was happy to be of use of something. "t-thank you-u? i think?.. um, happy to help?" there was still question in her voice. she didn't know how to properly response to that. etherealkit's eyelids droop a little as she let out a small yawn, she was feeling sleepier again. for about a minute she fall asleep before jolting right back up.

The Maine Coon blinked at the other kit, as he tried to make sense out of her words. Five moon old kit? What did she mean five moon old kit? Was she talking to someone else? Had she even realised that he was talking to her? Confusion clouded his amber eyes as he became dizzy with all the questions. Ohh! She must think I'm five moons old, he finally realised. The tom grinned, proud that he was able to solve such a difficult problem. Or rather, able to solve a problem that was difficult in his mind. "Yes, I want to play mossball with you. Well actually I don't really mind what we play, I just want to play something," he responded cheerfully.
What? How did she know? He thought. The tom thought his plan was very smart, and unique. The logic in it wasn't very obvious, which meant no one could steal it. At least that's what he liked to believe. He had only asked to play with the kit and that had nothing to do with becoming an apprentice. A warrior probably wouldn't see any logic in it unless he explained it out. This kit could read minds. That was the only possible explanation. Nettlekit narrowed his eyes suspiciously at Sycamorekit, he couldn't say anything about it though. He wouldn't want to be wrong "No, I'm sorry, I don't see why you would think that," he continued, putting on a fake polite smile. It was very convincing. He didn't want to seem desperate. Obviously she can read minds, that's why. Nettlekit wouldn't say he was obsessed with becoming an apprentice. That wasn't the right word for it. But rather, he would say that he was interested in becoming an apprentice.

Marblesky chuckled. He watched his sister but as she gasped he turned his head to see what's he was asking about. He'd assumed that she'd spotted some sort of pray or something brought into the nursery for one of the queens but saw nothing out of the ordinary. The silver tabby was now a bit confused. Do I just not see it? He wondered. Then he figured it out. "Oh. That's just a smart little kit." He purred turning back to his sister almost expecting to be met with her paws mid leap.





Feather kit smiled as he brother asked his idea. Taking a bite of the mouse he had in front of him he pondered how to say it. "Well I was thinking we could explore outside camp. The forest. " He meowed after he swallowed his mouthful. " We already explored the whole camp why not check outside." He added.


Cloudkit looked at Featherkit with wide eyes at his brothers suggestions. "Are we even aloud to go out into the forest?" asked the kit, Keeping his voice low, so that nobody heard what they were talking about doing. Cloudkit felt his paws shift uncomfortably at the thought of leaving the camp without another warrior.

He was always afraid someone was gonna kill him, or he was gonna get an infection, or he was gonna have an allergic reaction. She nervously flicked her tail scared that he would be a rough kit who would tackle her while playing mossball.

The fluffy tom couldn’t help but notice the strange way she spoke. She seemed to stammer with each sentence and appeared unable to get a word out without stopping in between. What was wrong? Nettlekit furrowed his brows, a confused frown on his maw but curiosity lighting up his gaze. Was there something wrong with her mouth? Was there something that stopped her from speaking as a normal cat would? Or perhaps he was scaring her. Yes, that did sound reasonable. The tom knew that he could be intimidating to the other kits sometimes. His mother had warned him about it before. She had told him not to worry if the other kits seemed a little frightened of him. He was simply a fast grower and would one day grow to have strong muscles and a great fighter. At least that’s what he had been told. Nettlekit also knew that he had very thick fur so he’d figured that that made him seem a lot larger as well.
I’ll try and help her out, he thought happily. “Great!” he responded brightly, doing his best to act as if there was nothing on his mind. The question as to why she spoke so differently still tugged at his mind, but he didn’t want to make it seem like he was judging her or anything, so he acted as he normally would. He hopped forward, now that he had the other kit’s permission to, and hit the mossball lightly, batting it softly but with enough force to the other kit. If she was really afraid of him then he would try to be as gentle as possible. Nettlekit was very competitive and could get really aggressive when it came to playing with others, so here he was trying to be as gentle as he could be and not scare the younger cat off.

Standing up he looked back at his little sister. "How about we take are play fight outside? We wouldn't want to bother any sleeping Queens or young kits." He meowed flicking an ear towards the entrance. Truly Marblesky was a bit worried if they tries to have a play fight he'd hurt someone. He wasn't a kit anymore no matter how playful he could be.

She lead him through the entrance, the warm, milky scent hit her nostrils in a wave, and she was soon comforted. Weary on her paws, she curled up in a corner with one last look at her brother before she closed her eyes in a nap.

"How about we go back to the nursery? It'll be warm and safe there, and anyways, I'm a bit tired. The nursery queen's will not hurt us." Silverkit meowed out loud to him. She lead him through the entrance, the warm, milky scent hit her nostrils in a wave, and she was soon comforted. Weary on her paws, she curled up in a corner with one last look at her brother before she closed her eyes in a nap.

Pushing though the nursery entrance the main coo n tom scanned the nursery for his mate and kit. Spotting the white kitten the tabby trotted over. "Hello Diamondkit, are you hungry?" Littlelion asked dropping the pray at his feet careful not to sit it on any cat's tail or anything. Honesty the large tabby tom wasn't sure how to be a good father, he'd never had kits but he and Flamebird had always wanted some, that was why they decided to take in Diamond. He just hoped he'd make a good father for her.

"Why is water so wet and heavy once it gets in your pelt, supposedly?" He asked suddenly, glancing up at his mother. The tom was almost an exact copy of her, with the same pale gray pelt and light brown tabby stripes.

She murmured sweetly and gave her cheek a long, loving lick. the queen had given birth not too long ago, sadly, none of her two kits were healthy enough for them to make it, though, she was quickly given the task to raise Salmonkit, and she would give her kit everything she could, she didn't consider her adopted, she saw her as her actual kit and she would raise her just as well as she would've raised her litter.

Gentlekit sighed quietly and settled down near the entrance of the nursery. The general atmosphere inside of the structure was happy so she was able to wear a content and pleased look on her face, though she'd be even more happy if she had a friend to talk to. Her friend Branchkit was still asleep and she knew that he wouldn't be happy if she went and woke him up from his slumber, he always seemed to be the grumpy type when awakened prematurely.
And her other friends Bluekit, and Wildkit were out in the clearing, likely bugging the pelts off of the apprentices with their inquiries and fascination. She could join them, but she liked it better in here where it was cozy. She'd go outside later, but for right now, she was more than content to lay where she was and hope that some other kit would come by the just talk with her. It had happened before, and it was actually how she met Wildkit. She was an interesting one that was for sure, but she always seemed to be in an excitable and good mood, which in turn put Gentlekit in an excitable and good mood!
It was strange how she almost seemed to feel the emotions of other cats and could be effected by them. She didn't understand it all too much, but she would later come to realize that she was a very empathetic cat. If you came up to her feeling sad, she too would feel it and would sit there with you and cry right along. And if you were angry, she could feel that as well and share it. She enjoyed helping others, even if she was young. It was a good trait to have living in a clan, where there are so many other cats to help care for.

She purred and started to lick Salmonkit's head lovingly as she felt the small tongue run over her belly fur, she loved her so much, she was her little sun, the main reason why she was still so happy.

Ringpaw had been lazily flouncing through camp, going where the wind took her.
It had been a relatively easy day, having just woken up she had gotten a nice plump squirrel to quickly dine on before going to return to the medicine den.
As soon as she had dragged her squirrel along the dusty clearing, she sat alone by the camp barrier.
She noticed not many cats were out yet, she had woken up at the time when the dawn patrol had left and when all the warriors who got to sleep in were still drifting in dreams.
Blinking her green eyes, she bent down to take a bite of her prey, and when she did, a tiny squeal met her ears, resulting in a twitch.
Even as the nice juices of her breakfast were rushing into her mouth, and her stomach was growling to continue, Ringpaw quickly arose and scanned the clearing.
There, at the entrance to the nursery, stood a tiny kit whose expression looked... pained? Ringpaw was puzzled.
As the kit began to walk a bit farther outside to look around the clearing, she could see in the back they were limping.
“Oh!” Ringpaw exclaimed, quickly leaving her squirrel in the bushes to return to it later.
As she neared the kit, she dipped her head. “Are you Alright? Should I get Shinefang?” She asked, trying to bend her eyes in some way she could look around and under the kit to see their back leg.
It looked like they were in a lot of pain, but she didn’t know what. A thorn? A sprain? A torn claw? She tried to run through all the injuries she could think of.
Turning around, she looked hopefully at the medicine den, the tiny apprentice wanting a yellow pelt to burst through and come tell her how to do this.
Ringpaw stretched on tippytoes, but also had her ears on the kit so when they responded she could know.

Shinefang didn't burst into the clearing by any means. He shuffled out with his fur still matted from sleep and squinted at the freshkill pile, smacking his jaws and grimacing at the taste of sleep still on his tongue. He had woken up when Ringpaw had stirred in the den and tried to go back to sleep, he had been too tired at the end of last night to want to bother with an evening meal and now his stomach was awfully demanding. Yawning, he eyed the pile and suddenly noticed that half-eaten squirrel sitting nearby, and standing nearby, just outside of the nursery with a kit was his very own apprentice. The old tom's nose wrinkled in anger and he strode over. If his apprentice thought that being a medicine cat meant that she got to ignore what the warrior code said about respecting prey, she had another thing coming. "Ringpaw, what is it you think you are doing?" The rest of the reprimand was on the tip of his tongue, but then he noticed that the kit had a pained expression on her face and was favoring a paw. Moving closer, he spoke gently to the kit. "Got something hurting you, little one? Let me have a look." It took only a moment for him to spot the thorn in the little cat's paw. It was in one of her toe pads, definitely a more painful spot to have a thorn compared to the large pad. The old tom clicked his tongue and meowed sympathetically, "That's a good one, little kit. Not to worry though. We'll get you fixed up." He turned back to his apprentice now, his previously blazing expression now cooled as he regarded the little calico with a nod. "Well spotted, Ringpaw. The mark of a good medicine cat is one who keeps a keen eye out for her clanmates. Looks like a thorn, here in one of her middle toes pads. Do you see?" he asked, using a single extended claw to point it out. "Now, what's the first thing we do for a thorn?" he asked, waiting to see what Ringpaw had retained from the last time the shecat had assisted with the deputy's injury.

Salmonkit looked at Ringpaw as she walked into the nursery. She stepped back a little in fright. "Um...uh. I got a thorn stuck in my foot and it's in a lot of pain." meowed the kitten, looking down at her injured paw. She was a little nervous, since she never really talked to a medicine cat before especially a medicine cat apprentice. Ringpaw wasn't that much bigger then she was.

The young kit heard the footsteps of Shinefang, her fur starting to shake. Salmonkit nodded as he made his way over to her. "I tried to get it out, but instead I made things worse." replied Salmonkit, a little nervous now that she had gotten the attention of both of the medicine cats.

Shinefang didn't bat an eye at the kits apparent fear. He was a scarred-up, matted mess of a tom from his warrior days. Many kits found his appearance a little frightening. In spite of this, and what he rarely let his clanmates see, was that he was quite fond of them. They were a delicate bunch though: very rowdy and curious and prone to injury. Ringpaw would have to learn to treat them as well as warriors.

He listened as Ringpaw listed off the first two steps for thorn extraction to the letter and gave a nod. "Good," he said simply, gesturing to the kit in a 'go ahead' manner. "And if You can't get it with just your tongue, try getting it out enough to pull it out gently with your teeth.

He tuned back to Salmonkit next and sank lower to the ground on creaking knees and spoke to her softly. "This might sting little one, but can you be a brave little warrior and stay still for Ringpaw?"

But she also supposed that as she was almost done, that she may as well finish what she had started. Mud-soaked paws carried the she-cat along the edge of the border, her icy blue gaze dulled down as the tar-black of the sky reflected in their depths. The smell of earth overrunning her sinuses, so much so that she was certain she could taste the mud on the very tip of her tongue. Her ears had flattened almost completely against the back of her head, doing all they could to keep the water from getting in. The world around her seemed to pass by unnoticed by the she-cat, as she was absorbed so heavily in her thoughts. Her usual snappy attitude seemingly washed away by the rain, as she relaxed in the comfort of her own presence.
She suddenly came to a stop, an unfamiliar noise capturing her attention. Her ears pricked up, standing attentively as she hoped to hear the sound again. Sure enough, a small cry filtered through the sounds of the pouring rain and drove the she-cat into the bushes. As if on autopilot, Cloverwhisker manoeuvred as carefully as she could, given the conditions, and soon found herself wandering out of Skyclan's territory. The warrior prayed to Starclan she was hearing things, and that the small cry wasn't that of a kits. Even though Cloverwhisker wasn't too fond of kits, she still didn't want to imagine a kit being left out in these cold, wet and dangerous conditions. Blue eyes darted around, urgent to find the source of these small cries.
Searching through the underbrush, getting more and more agitated as time past by. Now certain the cry had come from a young kit, she knew she had to act quickly to find them and bring them back to Skyclan's territory before the storm got any worse. Fortunately the kit called out once more, and Cloverwhisker was sure she knew where they were. Almost running, the she-cat dove beneath a low lying branch and came out upon a sight worse than she initially imagined. Hiding beneath the leaves of a small bush laid two kits, huddled together for what Cloverwhisker guessed was warmth. One kit, a small female with tawny fur and small patches of red-tinted orange scattered about her small frame, and another with almost completely black fur aside from the set of even darker stripes which covered his small little body. The she-cat acted quickly, sheltering the two kits with her much larger form as she second guessed if she would be able to carry both of them on her own. She supposed given their very small bodies it wouldn't be too difficult, and without any other options she had no choice. "It's going to be okay," She whispered to them, somewhat awkwardly; she had never been good with kits. The two of them would be much safer once Cloverwhisker had handed them over to a queen much more suited to caring for them. It took her a few moments to grasp both of their scruffs securely in her maw, but once she had she wasted no time in carrying them back to Skyclan's camp. Her pace was fast, but she didn't want to risk running and slipping with their two delicate forms dangling from her maw.
Despite the rain and the added weight, it didn't take Cloverwhisker long to return to camp, the two masses of fur still safely dangling from her maw. The poor things had gotten soaked on the journey here, and she felt bad she could not provide them with shelter. At least now they would be able to get warm and comfortable. Ducking her head into the nursery she searched around and found an empty nest to place the kits in whilst she found a suitable mother for them. Icy gaze searched the nursery but came to a worrying conclusion. Most queens had large enough litters already, and Cloverwhisker worried she would not find a queen willing to take on two more kits. Separating them was an option, but the she-cat thought it would be cruel given all they'd already gone through. She began asking about, talking to the resident queens about what had happened only to be blatantly declined. None were willing to raise the two kits. Casting a worried glance back at the two of them, who remained within the nest she'd left them in, Cloverwhisker's options were running out and there was no doubt in her mind that those kits were in desperate need of milk. Sighing, she continued her search around the nursery for a suitable queen, praying to Starclan she could find one.

When the reached their final destination, now fully soaked and tired and hungry, she stared open-eyed in awe at the amount of cats still awake and up. She'd never seen so many cats in her life! She hung limply as the she-cat talked to other she-cats in the milky musty scent of where they were. Milk? Oh, the tawny she-cat was hungry, but all the she-cats that had the scent of milk still about them turned their backs to them. She sighed a little mewl, groggy and tired above the rest.

Cloverwhisker's ears perked up at Shadowheart's voice, a relieved smile appearing on her maw. "Shadowheart, thank you! I was worried I wouldn't find someone to raise them," Cloverwhisker spoke, unaware of what Shadowheart meant by taking the two kits in. The gullible warrior had come to the conclusion Shadowheart would raise the two kits alongside her own kits, taking them off of her paws and Cloverwhisker would think nothing of them until she bumped into them in the future. But these two kits were to be her responsibility, despite her lack of knowledge when it came to kits and how to interact and raise them. The creamy she-cat shook her sleek pelt lightly, careful not to splash any of the nursing queens and their kits with water. She'd already bothered them enough. "Well, Shadowheart, the kits are just over there in that little nest," She gestured with her head to the empty nest the two little ones were confined to, unable to deny how sweet it was to see the two of them huddled so closely together. I was worried I wouldn't find someone to raise them," Cloverwhisker spoke, unaware of what Shadowheart meant by taking the two kits in. The gullible warrior had come to the conclusion Shadowheart would raise the two kits alongside her own kits, taking them off of her paws and Cloverwhisker would think nothing of them until she bumped into them in the future. But these two kits were to be her responsibility, despite her lack of knowledge when it came to kits and how to interact and raise them. The creamy she-cat shook her sleek pelt lightly, careful not to splash any of the nursing queens and their kits with water. She'd already bothered them enough. "Well, Shadowheart, the kits are just over there in that little nest," She gestured with her head to the empty nest the two little ones were confined to, unable to deny how sweet it was to see the two of them huddled so closely together. The tawny she-cat watched the cream and the new she-cat that smelled strongly of milk talk through half sleep-closed eyes. She blinked her green eyes in an attempt to stay awake but even that was getting much more difficult by the second. As the cream she-cats face turned relieved, she wondered why. Maybe now they could get milk? She let out a squeal to remind them that she was very hungry now. Huddled against her brother, at least now they were drier and warmer.
