Numb. That was the only way to describe the torrential downpour Kestrelstar had been trapped under for the last few days. Stormtalon's death still rocked him hard not to mention Plumstorm's almost... he couldn't even bring himself to think about it. She was safe. Alive. Here. As much as he wished to simply skip tonight's Gathering, without a deputy in the Clan right now he had no choice but to withdraw from the safety of his dark den and make his way towards Seastones. The gray tabby had absolutely no intention of starting anything, speaking more than he needed to - stars, if he could call off this Gathering altogether he would've. He refused to do anything that would make RiverClan look weak no matter the reasoning. Even in the thick fog that surrounded him the young leader was well aware of that.

Dirt and soil turned to sand underneath his paws as the RiverClan leader paused to take a breath. RiverClan was the first to arrive, which settled his bones a bit. He gave no farewell to his Clan, instead padding almost robotically over to where he normally sat. Climbing the smooth rocks and taking his place the gray tabby circled his tail around his paws. Not a trace of emotion was detectable on his face as he remained stony and expressionless. Yellow eyes were hardened as he stared blankly ahead, already becoming lost in his tsunami of thoughts once more.

One of the cats following closest to Kestrelstar, Nettlebloom attempted to give her tabby leader an encouraging nod. She had noticed the death of Stormtalon had him rattled, having to mourn whilst announcing the death publicly would be a hard thing to do. Announcing any deaths publicly would be hard.
Taking her place close to the front, wanting to be in the middle of things and to socialize as she pleased, she hoped no ShadowClan cats would approach her. All things considered, she had formed a strong bond of dislike for the shadowy warriors. But, there could be some decent specimen within that Clan. She shouldn't discriminate. But as it was, she would be less than thrilled to have to speak with one.
Neatly groomed fur as always, she looked around for the other Clan's arrival.

Reedlight trotted after the RiverClan cats heading to the Gathering, blue eyes glinting in the night sky. He was almost hidden in the night thanks to his dark pelt, but he kept moving. He looked around curiously and sat down, licking a paw. Looks like they were first.. well, he could be patient! Hopefully someone from one of the other Clans, once they arrived, would talk to him soon...

Coastcrash hopped onto the wide expanse of stones behind his leader and made his way to the far corner, once again doing his best to look mysteriously inviting while masking his face entirely. His head held imposingly high and his tail curled delicately around his flank, Coastcrash sat down and raised a forepaw to start grooming it.

- Wolfsong and Moonfrost of Riverclan -

Wolfsong trotted towards the front, watching Kestrelstar carefully. He seems... Different... The silver she-cat narrowed her eyes as she observed her leader, surprised by his silence. She turned to Moonfrost, who had followed closely behind her. "Moonfrost, do you have any idea why he's so quiet? I mean, besides the obvious..." she mewed softly, thinking. Her dark furred sister just shook her head before taking a seat at Wolfsong's side. The pair sat and observed, waiting patiently for the others to arrive, but their concern for their leader glistening in their eyes.

Shimmerbird padded along with the rest of RiverClan as usual before breaking off once they reached the Seastones and finding a secluded spot to watch the gathering from. Perhaps she would find Snowypaw this time, the molly was worried after they didn't show up with the WindClan cats at the last gathering, but perhaps they just hadn't been chosen to go? Hopefully all was well and that windstorm hadn't caused something worse to happen to them.

+ Hazelstorm
The light brown tabby molly followed Kestrelstar to the Seastones, her excitement fizzling out as her paws touched the cold ground. She didn't like the icy feeling it gave her veins. Sighing, she straightened her neck, catching sight of a very familiar pelt. Turning her head towards it, she spotted Shimmerbird. Hazelstorm hadn't interacted with her for so long, not since their warrior ceremony. Boundingup to her, Hazelstorm greeted her with wide eyes.
"Shimmerbird!" she said brightly, trotting over. Hazelstorm was around the same height as Shimmrbird, which she was glad that was the case. She didn't have to look up or done. "Hey, I haven't talked to you for so long. How is everything going for you?"

Twilightstar made her way begrudgingly to the gathering. She had no desire to be here at all, and not a very large reason considering WindClan didn't have much if anything to announce. Even so, the old she-cat would feel bad if she selfishly took a chance to socialize with the rest of the clans, not including ShadowClan, from WindClan. Not to mention even if she didn't have much to share, she'd still be informed about what was going on with the rest of the clans.

RiverClan was already filling up the beach, Twilightstar padded past the cats and leaped up onto the icy stones, muscles tensed as she nearly slipped before catching herself. There was a jagged pain shooting along her underbelly which she ignored in favor of giving Kestrelstar's ear a flicker with her tail in greeting as she sat down beside him, crouching slightly. She sat as close as she could get without pressing her pelt against his, trying to leech up the younger cat's body heat.

She noticed he seemed lost in thought and rather stoic, which was strange if you asked her. She didn't ask if anything was wrong with him, she's learned patience could be rather rewarding when it came to gatherings. She made herself comfortable, hopefully without disturbing the tom as she quietly waited for the arrival of the other clans.

--Shimmerbird--

Shimmerbird squeaked in surprised when Hazelstorm suddenly appeared next to her. It took her a moment to realize who it was, but once she did she relaxed and gave her chest fur a few quick licks in embarrassment. "You startled me, Hazelstorm! And it has eben too long since we've talked. I'm enjoying being a warrior, I still get worried about messing things up, but Kestrelstar seems like he's in a much better place ever since he came back from his journey. What about you, how have you been?"

A grin settled on her face as she sat on her haunches.

"I've been doing great , I had my first patrol as a warrior a few days ago," said Hazelstorm contentedly. She turned her head to face Shimmerbird. "Don't worry, Shimmerbird! I'm sure you'l make a great warrior."

A lilac pelt caught her attention and her green eyes flickered over to Twilightstar, ascending the Seastones with her Clan. So WindClan had arrived. Turning her attention back to shimmerbird, Hazelstorm glanced briefly at Kestrelstar, at his spot.

"Maybe he met a cat guided by StarClan 'long the way who taught him how to be a better leader,"the tabby suggested. "So... what's your plan for your future, Shimmerbird?"

Raypaw padded into the Gathering excitedly behind Twilightstar. He couldn't believe he was finally here! At a Gathering! It was his very first one and he was ecstatic he had been chosen to go. He would be able to meet (and flirt with) other cats and apprentices his own age! He would finally be able to see what the other Clans looked like. And maybe even scout out their battle skills so he could see if he was ahead in case he would ever fight them. He smelled Riverclan at the Gathering before he could
even see them. They definitely smelled... Fishy. It was so strong of a smell. There were so many cats! He tried to look friendly, hoping someone would talk to him. The Windclan tom was desperate for some kind of interaction with the other cats.

》Raccoonear of Riverclan. [Open!]

Three, two, one. One, two, three. The molly was repeating this in hear head all the way to Seastones. She was around the middle of the squabble of Riverclan warriors, apprentices, and many more alike traveling to the beach, which in this situation was a tab bit warmer, now that the sky had no cloudcover to block the sun’s warmth. The molly cats a cautious glance behind her, before reverting her attention to in front of her before she bumped into someone or something of the such. Raccoonear flooded into the beach along with her fellow clanmates, who seemed to have already sped off to get a seat, perhaps grouped up with their friends, or solitary, like those mysterious cats Raccoonear wondered about sometimes. The molly, rather than scurrying off to get a good seat while she had the chance, paused for a moment to look around. Ah, I had no idea we would be arriving first! Getting a decent seat will be no hiccup here. A grin crossed her face as she trotted across the cold sand, small amounts of sand being kicked up off the ground as she walked with a pep in her step. She always loved gatherings, but had never met a cat of another clan, and it was a dream of hers to. If she ver did, it would be like one of many life purposes would be fulfilled, donezo, off the checklist. She smiled, taking place in the middle, near the side. She normally sat around the side, but not all the way to the side. The Molly’s gaze flicked to the Windclan cats entering the place. What if she met a Windclan cat? Oh, how she admired them. Most people called them lazy rabbits, but she thought of them as clever. I mean, they had a tunnel system for backup! Backing things up is a wise move, she wondered why more cats didn’t do it.

》Palecloud of Windclan [Open! ]
The tom walked into the place, walking at a pace that made him seem as if wading against a strong tide. The tom took place around the back, immediately gazing around at the surrounding cats. Mostly Riverclan cats so far, diversity will show it’s face sooner or later. He shrugged slightly, his calm gaze setting itself on the horizon that laid just on the ocean’s end, or at least the end to his area of vision. The waves mesmerizing sways and rocking motions were almost hypnotic, and calming in a special way. As a Windclan cat, he didn’t see oceans often but it thrilled him to see it at gatherings. He tore his gaze from the ocean’s powerfully eye catching tide to return to skimming over the present cats. Everyone had such unique pelts, and he loved it thunk about the diversity of cat genetics. There could be an orange and silvery cat around, he wasn’t one to speak though. Pelts could just be so different and Wild, he was glad to be living in a place with uniqe eyed and pelted cats. And that’s just scratching the surface, talk about personalities! And a cats story of their past! It was so diverse and really, anything was possible when it came to a cats story. He continued to sit, and wonder about the cats around him’s stories. It kept him busy, seeing as it could really be anything humanly possible.

The gray warrior bristled slightly as a cat bumped into him, but quickly relaxed when his amber eyes spotted Tigerpaw. He was pretty sure this was the apprentice's first gathering if the excitement in her gaze was anything to go by. "You should be a little more careful, Tigerpaw. The molly gave Hazelstorm a smile as she began talking about herself before reassuring Shimmerbird that she would make a good warrior, the kind words were appreciated and made her feel better about herself. "I had my first patrol too, Kestrelstar had me lead it to the ThunderClan border and it was really nerve wracking, especially since ThunderClan had renewed their scent markers. And I think you're right about the StarClan cat, I couldn't see him abandoning the Clan otherwise. As for my future I think I want to eventually have kits, or at least adopt some. What about you?"

Streampaw of WindClan

Streampaw padded up behind the rest of the WindClan cats. She was holding back a small smile because she wanted to look formal for the Gathering. It was her first one after all. Her yellow eyes scouted the RiverClan warriors. They reaked of fish, and the apprentice scrunched up her nose. How do those fish feasting even hunt in this cold? The dilute calico sneezed, snow always made her slightly sickly. It’s not that big of a deal, hopefully. She sat down elegantly and she tried to make some small talk with the other WindClan apprentices.

Oh, Tigerpaw and Raypaw were there. Tigerpaw seemed to be chatting with Raypaw, but they wouldn’t mind if Streampaw spoke with them as well right?

”It’s quite lovely out here, isn’t it?” Streampaw muttered, sarcasm filling her tone.

RACCOONEAR OF RIVERCLAN

Raccoonear's gaze went from apprentice, to warriors alike. Today, she felt like meeting someone new, maybe even someone from a different clan. The clearing was still rather airy, and not crowded with a dense variety of cats from the four clans. As a Riverclan cat, she seeked out to meet others at gatherings. Her main goal was a Windclan cat, however. She had a particular interest in them, and while on the thought, a deep respect for them. They took the insults all the time, Rabbits, Tunnel Widows, and so many more. She stood, walking about the sandy clearing. She approached a Windclanner around the middle of the space, and sat down a few taillengths away, a small grin creasing her gray muzzle. "Hello, i'm Racconear." She decided not to ask the other cat of his name, as she was sure that Windclan cats were cautious, and a careful cat might be iffy about just throwing their name around, but she wasn't one to talk, so she tried not to dwell on it.

The silver tom padded, nervously into the clearing. He felt like an apprentice getting scared at his gathering, but here he was. His tail tip twitching nervously all bunched in on himself, like a mouse. However as he looked around he realized weren’t many cats. Good Riverclan are one of the first ones here! This made him relax. He stood up straighter, and let out a nervous sigh. He picked a seat where he hoped no cat would see him. No cat from another clan that is.

~Lavendersnap of Windclan~

The old molly padded in after her clan mates. She looked forward to being able to sit under such a beautiful sky! She looked up a bit a misty expression on her face. I’m glad gatherings happen during the full moon. It’s always stunning! With this content thought in her head she began to look for a good spot. She didn’t want to be too close to the leaders. Starclan, knew it would always be dramatic up there. However, her hearing was starting to leave her so she couldn’t sit in the back and hear what was going on. She scanned the clearing. She found a nice middle seat quickly. With not many cats there it was much easier than usually. She sat down with a small grunt and looked up at the stars.

-> Hazelstorm

The light brown tabby felt a smile settling on her face as Shimmerbird talked. It felt great to be back with Shimmerbird. Apprenticeship and warrior duties had seperated them for too long. And Fogpaw... the memory of Hazelstorm's ex-friend stung deeply. That cat had gone missing from the Clan, leaving her and Shimmerbird behind. Fogpaw hadn't even said goodbye. If they wanted to leave to become a loner or something, they should've told Hazelstorm and Shimmerbird!

The warrior noticed that Shimmerbird had asked her a question and she forced herself back into the present.
"I want to be a loyal, honourable warrior," she responded truthfully. "I don't want kits, but I do want to have a mate that I can love and rely on."

That was the real truth. Hazelstorm's gaze flicked towards the left, where the entrance to the Seastones were, and was alittle startled to see that the other two Clans, ThunderClan and ShadowClan, hadn't arrived yet.

"ThunderClan and ShadowClan hasn't arrived yet," Hazelstorm commented, her eyes shifting back to Shimmerbird's flecked pelt. "What's taking them so long?"

The grey elder arrived a little later than most. This moon, it was quite cold and he wasn’t really sure he would be able to stay for long. His bones felt just as breakable as his name, and the wind whistled through even his own thick coat. Brittleshore found a nice spot here the edge of the gathering place and sat, waiting for the other clans to arrive.

Brittleshore hoped he wouldn’t have to wait long. He glanced around the clearing, taking note of the other cats here. Brittleshore supressed a shiver, noticing some cats he recognized and some he didn’t. That was the best part about gatherings, meeting new cats.

The black and white tom hurried to join the rest of Windclan that had gathered. Sure. He was a little late. That didn’t matter much, right? Skatefrist quickly found a nice spot front and center to the huge stones. Now he could hear everything. Perfect, just like he had wanted.

Slatefrost fluffed his fur, but even that did little to help against the chill. He could only hope that the leaders and deputies would meet up for a little bit, then quickly disband so that he wouldn’t freeze to death.

~ WOLFFANG ~

Wolffang didn't particularly like leaf-bare Gatherings. Sure, his large, sturdy build and thick, medium-length fur helped to protect him against the cold. But he wasn't invincible. The chill of the leaf-bare night air cut through his fur like a claw, so he just simply fluffed it out to provide a little extra warmth. Following right behind his leader, he broke off toward the spot where the deputies sat, with one quick glance at the area where the leaders sat. Kestrelstar was here, which he had assumed from the disgusting fishy scents flooding his way. He was used to them, but that didn't mean they were pleasant. Wolffang curled his lower lip to drive some of the stench out. Besides Twilightstar and Kestrelstar, nobody else was here. So, WindClan was the second to arrive. Not the last, or having not turned up at all. Good. They could not be seen as weak in front of the others.

Wolffang went over to the deputy spot and blinked. Splashleap wasn't there. Deputies could be late sometimes - back when his mental state hadn't been the best, he had been late. Wolffang gritted his teeth. He didn't like thinking about that. This was the here and now, and he was representing WindClan. Splashleap could be late. She also could've stepped down, or died. Hadn't there been conflict between ShadowClan and RiverClan? Splashleap wasn't a bad cat, but it wasn't his problem. Wolffang sat down, curling his gray tail over his broad, sturdy paws. His breath clouded in front of his face as he waited for the other two Clans to arrive. Dogbark wasn't bad, although they hadn't interacted much, so Wolffang didn't know the specifics. Shadestorm was a pain. Not as annoying as Finchwhisker had been, though. Wolffang frowned at the thought of the brown-and-white tabby who had mysterious disappeared one day. They had never finished their fight.

It seemed as though Wolffang had unfinished business with both ShadowClan deputies. It had been so long since he had fought another Clan, it felt like. Wolffang used to love fighting. But he'd been so wrapped up in other things, been too focused on his life and his service to WindClan, and perhaps had grown a bit wiser and not as reckless as his old self. He hadn't fought much recently. But the thought of his claws tearing through fur and flesh again... it almost felt distant, but like something Wolffang wanted. He glanced up at the rock where the leaders sat, and even though Dawnstar wasn't there yet, he could imagine her massive, battle-scarred, dark brown tabby form. His claws itched. He really wanted to sink them into a ShadowClan pelt. But this was the Gathering, and he had to behave. Wolffang was smart enough to kno that.

Willowfeather Of RiverClan

Willowfeather sat in an empty area, alone. During gatherings, she usually sat alone, making her different from her Clanmates. Every so often, some cat would look at her with a look of confusion or resentfulness, but she was used to it and didn’t care. It was mostly the other clans, anyway.
Most RiverClan cats understand. she thought. I think…

-> Hazelstorm

Shimmerbird nodded along as Hazelstorm spoke about her own future. "You're alread a loyal and honorable warrior," the molly purred as she nudged her friend's shoulder playfully. "And kits aren't for everyone, I'm just glad you know that about yourself instead of figuring it out after you've had them." Her mind flashed back to the most recent Clan meeting where Silverspot had stormed out and left Spottedkit confused and alone. It disgusted her, who could do something like that to their kit?!

Her ears perked at Hazelstorm's mention of ShadowClan and ThunderClan not having arrived yet and she also glanced towards the entrance. It wasn't unusual for the two to be late, but not this late. Although if ShadowClan didn't show up she wouldn't be complaining.

"I dunno, but I wouldn't mind if ShadowClan didn't show their mangy faces. ThunderClan being this late is a bit odd, although Aspenstar was the late last gathering as well."

What to do? What to do? Slithering out of the shadows, the ShadowClan leader arrived at the beach. Her light amber eyes roamed over the two gathered clans impassively. The strong stench of RiverClan and WindClan filled the air, Dawnstar found Twilightstar's scrawny frame sitting close to a closed-off Kestrelstar. Strutting across the beach as she own it and every cat on it, Dawnstar bunched up her muscles and landed silently on the flat stone. She kept her distances from the two soft-hearts, sitting tall with her back straight, towering. The cuts on her cheek were already healing, scabbing, and since Twilightstar was here, Dawnstar surmised that she hadn't done as much damage as she suspected to the wimpy leader.

There was no ThunderClan, not a surprise, besides that one time, ThunderClan was always the last to arrive. Which was annoying because she had made a large point in coming late as if to remind the clans that they couldn't begin without her, but it seemed no matter how late she tried to arrive, ThunderClan always came even later. Thinking of those squirrels, she still had a big decision to make. Now, if she had cats that she could actually count on, she might actually discuss something like this with them, but everyone in her clan was virtually useless, her braindead deputy included.

Perhaps this gathering would help her settle her thoughts. She still had a bit going on with ShadowClan, leafbare, and hopefully, she'd have some new ranks by next moon. She hasn't smelt any fresh twoleg scents or seen any tracks in the last pawful of days. Pulling out of her head, Dawnstar scattered her thoughts to the wind and looked down at cats beneath her, waiting for ThunderClan's arrival.

It was like a deteriorative trail snaked behind the Shadowclan warrior, lingering with anyone she passed. She tried to shake it off, and her gaze returned to Mouse’claw. “Yeah, I wonder. Hopefully nothing too horrible happened.” She said, a slight hint of worry in her voice.

The warrior let out a purr of affection and she brusher pelt against Shimmerbird's. "Thank you, friend! I'm certain you'll make a decent mother to your kits."

A dark brown tabby pelt caught her attention and green hues shifted over to Dawnstar, who had just arrived with ShadowClan at her heels. Hazelstorm wrinkled her nose in displeasure at the mangy, marshy smell that began polluting the already heavily-mixed air. Now there was RiverClan scent, WindClan scent and ShadowClan scent... which honestly did not smell the best together.

"That queen, Silverspot," said Hazelstorm, flicking her tail in disgust. "That traitor. She left her darn kit behind. Where do you think she is now?"

A fiery spark of anger rose in the young warrior. As much as she hated kits, she wouldn't toss away a kit she was entrusted totake care of. Hazelstorm wouldn't be cruel to them either for no reason, like her foster mother who'd took her in after her parents' death.
"Speaking of traitors..." Hazelstorm smoothed her pelt quickly and dropped her voice, so that only Shimmerbird could hear. "I haven't seen Fogpaw in a long time."

~WhiteRose~

The pretty white cat looked almost blue in the moonlight as they padded onto the beach with the rest of Shadowclan. WhiteRose wasn't quite sure why the clans needed a gathering, the next day they would just be at each other’s throats, wouldn't it be easier not to have a gathering? These are enemy's and yet when we are here they talk like friends. Weird.

They looked around the clans wondering if they might see any of their half siblings, and yet the white cat saw no cat that they recognised. Perhaps it was the dim lighting from the Leaf bare moon that was making it harder to tell each cat apart from one another.

Whiterose scanned the clearing attempting to spot her littermate BlackHawk [ @~ferice~ ] and yet he had already sunken into the crowd. The tall white cat padded towards the shore, a little way away from the seas tones and sat near the water's edge.

The clear night sky reflected the stars in the lapping black sea, its so calm here if you ignore the other clans.. I wonder if Shadowclan will ever try to claim this area. A few salty droplets of water splashed onto their pelt, immediately WhiteRose fluffed up their coat, the water was freezing and perhaps if it wasn't moving fo much it would be frozen over. They shivered, the only way for it to be colder is if it was snowing! WhiteRose didn't really like the cold, although it helped camouflage them in Leaf bare due to their white pelt. I wish I had thicker fur to keep all this out!

They shivered once more, "What in starclan is taking Thunderclan so long?" WhiteRose somewhat hissed as they spoke "if we stay here for much longer I'll be frozen to the ground!" they pawed at the frozen solid sand and flinched as a tiny crab started to run from the disturbed sand towards the water.

Shinepaw, a Shadowclan apprentice followed further behind Dawnstar. She moved quickly and silently, sitting around the other Shadowclan cats. Licking her paw, and grooming herself. As she looked around she was amazed, for this was her first gathering.

"These trees are huge..." she gasped, her amber eyes following the trees. She was caught off guard when she looked at the Riverclan cats. She studied their movements, careful not to alarm them, she was nervous. Her eyes caught a gray cat, apprentice size. She shivered, as she saw the cats blue eyes. Gingercry followed the rest of the Shadowclan patrol out onto the beach. He nearly stayed back at camp for this gathering. His joints were aching something fierce since the cold weather had settled in. He didn't recall last leafbare having so much of an affect on him. He chuckled lightly, old age was really catching up to him. It was also about this time a few seasons back when he'd lost Lilyleap. This time was always a little more difficult. And Goldenstep had seemed a little extra down the past couple days. But he figured he should come to the gathering since his daughter was again stuck in camp with her newest litter of kits. He'd come to bring back something for her to talk about, give her something to think about other than her mother and her kits. He settled down in a sandy spot and fluffed his thick orange pelt against the chill of the night.

[OPEN]

Pigeonpaw walked in behind Dawnstar, nearly bouncing. She was now among the older apprentices at the Gathering. This was her THIRD gathering and if other cats were judging by her size alone then they'd surely be able to mistake her for an even older apprentice. She held her chin high, proud. She'd had battle training and hunting training and she was sure she'd gone through more than most apprentices at this point after having been kidnapped and watching her kidnapper be killed in fron of her, her father and sister disappearing then showing back up, the mystery of her real parents still looming over her, and she'd had special training from what she could only assume was Starclan themselves. She wondered how many other apprentices here were special enough for the extra training like she'd been chosen for. She sat down and glanced towards the seastones but then kept her attention around her to look for somebody to talk to.

Dogbark’s legs trembled slightly as he led his clan to Seastones, he felt slightly sick, Aspenstar had lost all nine of her lives in one fell swoop, it felt unreal, it felt… it felt unfair. Dogbark had considered himself more than ready to take up the Leadership mantle, but now that he was there, he felt guilty. Aspenstar had obviously not been doing so well as Leader, but to die in such a brutal way… even worse, the last thing Dogbark had said to the she-cat was against her…
No, he would think about that later when he could handle it, he shoved those feelings into their little box and padded onwards, he had a Gathering to go to, he couldn’t show up looking a mess.
Quickly grooming himself again for about the third time today (he’d recently discovered that he groomed when nervous, figures.) he attempted to meet the eyes of his clanmates, but it was too difficult to do so, so he continued looking ahead.
His legs felt stiff as he walked, and for once he knew it was not because he was getting older, it was because he was trying to hold off on getting on that rock. If he didn’t go up there, then everything would be fine, normal, Aspenstar would be alive, Shiningskies wouldn’t hate him, no one would be screaming at him, no one would be upset, everything would be fine.
Oh. The lies he was telling himself.
Aspenstar was dead. Shiningskies probably hated him. The Clan probably hated him. Dogbark was the new Leader.
Dogbark couldn’t take all the feelings swirling in him, he shoved them into his box too.
Just get the Clan through the Gathering, get through the Gathering and then you can go home and think those thoughts, feel those feelings, and try to find out what you’re going to do. Those thoughts didn’t help him much, but it was a promise to himself, he needed some time alone after all this.
Though, he wouldn’t take much time for himself, as soon as he felt even half his normal strength again, he would go back out there, he refused to be like Aspenstar.
Pulling himself out of his thoughts, he saw that they’d arrived- albeit late- at the Gathering, finally.
He remembered, moons ago, the remark he’d made about the clan always being late, and now they were late again, and he sighed, he’d changed over those few moons, he could feel it.
Now, here he was, in the position he’d never expected to be in, leading his clan to a Gathering.
Without even waiting to check how things were going in the Gathering, Dogbark plunged down the small slope without further ceremony and pushed his way through the crowd towards Seastones.
Dogbark didn’t give any acknowledgment to the Deputies, Medicine Cats, nor the Clan Leaders even, he didn’t care, perhaps he just didn’t have the energy to care.
He hesitated at the base of the stone, perhaps he should stay among the Deputies? No. It wouldn’t be proper.
He leapt up to the Seastone, right next to Kestrelstar, not even looking at the RiverClan Leader, though he wanted to ask why Splashleap wasn’t there.
Oh StarClan, supposed RiverClan had lost their Deputy? He now felt slight sympathy for the other gray tom, after all, they seemed to be in the same boat.
He turned to look at Kestrelstar, opening his mouth to speak to him, then thinking better of it and turning his head around again. He didn’t know what to say, or how to say it, and he was dreading when it was his turn to announce, it was best that he just didn’t speak at all for now.
He kneaded his paws on the stone, trying to listen to everything that was being said, but all he heard was a buzzing sound in his ears, everything else was a muffled jumble of voices to him, no meaning, no sense to it all.
How everything was okay to others was a mystery to the Depu-(Leader?), his whole world was breaking and reforming, and nothing seemed to be changing for anyone else outside of ThunderClan, they all seemed to be oblivious to the break in reality, the crack in the gray tabby’s composure. His green eyes flickered, perhaps nobody cared? Perhaps, if anything ever happened to him, no one would care? They’d go on with their lives?
Dogbark didn’t know what was happening, he was Leader now, wasn’t he? He’d been speaking against Aspenstar for a moon, he’d felt he deserved the position at the time. He did… didn’t he? He should have been happy… right?
If he was… then why did he feel so rotten?

Dirtpaw padded into the Gathering, looking right and left. This wasn’t his first time at the Gathering, but it was still so much to take in. He weaved in between the other Clan cats, avoiding the grumpy-looking ones and nodding to the nice ones. He looked for someone to talk to and chose a happy-looking RiverClan apprentice. “Hi there!” He meowed to her. He grinned at her. “You seem really excited!”

Larkstorm followed Dogbark into the Gathering, looking around almost nervously at the other Clans. She was worried what they would think about Aspenstar‘s untimely death. So far it didn’t seem like the cats had noticed, but sooner or later they would realize Aspenstar wasn’t there. Especially once the Gathering began. Taking a drop breath, Larkstorm calmed herself down with a mental chat. Everything will be fine. Dogbark’s a strong cat nothing bad will happen. Squaring her shoulders, Larkstorm marched onward, eventually coming to a stop at a ShadowClan tom. She sat down next to him. “Do you mind?” She asked him. She recognized him as Gingercry, one of the older ShadowClan toms. He probably wouldn’t have a problem with her.

It's a Gathering, there's a peace treaty during Gatherings. No one will be hurt tonight... She took a quick look around as Thunderclan arrived, emerging into the gathering area. She noticed two apprentices sitting together. Maybe they're nice...? She padded up to them carefully and looked between the pair. "H-hello," she mewed nervously.

[ ~Fierce~ Raven~ ]
Dirtpaw turned to the new apprentice. “Oh, hi!” He meowed kindly. He flicked his tail to the other side of him. “You can sit down to if you want. I just got here after all.” He shifted so that the newcomer would have plenty of room without feeling squashed. She looked really nervous; Dirtpaw guessed this was her driest time.

~Hawkblaze of Windclan~

Hawkblaze turned and looked at the cat that had joined him, narrowing his eyes for a moment, mostly because the wind was still blowing in his face. He nodded to the she-cat. "'Sup."

Palebrook startled, genuinely surprised that Hawkblaze had spoken to her. He had looked like he had been lost in deep thought. “Oh, uh hi,” She meowed as calmly as she could. “Did you guys just get here?”
Palebrook turned when she heard a voice behind her. Another WindClan cat, this one a female. But she didn’t know her name. Lion…something. “Hey there,” She meowed to her. “We’re just talking. Want to join us?” Kunaiskrill

The tom nervously moved behind Dogbark and his clanmates. It would be his first gathering since his mothers death 18 moons ago. He was so bitter he hadn't come. Now that bitterness had slowly drifted away and he was ready to actually come to one. Wildspark felt his legs quake and he moved over to the back. He didn't mind if anyone talked to him he just didn't like crowds. It was dine if nobody did either.

Cindersky
Following after Dogbark with a rather uneasy feeling blooming in her chest, Cindersky held her head up high and kept her expression neutral. RiverClan, ShadowClan, and WindClan seemed to already have arrived along the shoerline of Seastones which meant that ThunderClan was last. It did not bother her as much as she knew it did Dogbark, and the spotted warrior tossed a concerned glance towards the back of the deputy. Or now, leader, though he had not yet visited the Starcave as far as she knew. Oh, what weight must be on his shoulders, what grief he carried... for a moment she watched him and wished she could go to him, to remind him of who he was, and that he and ThunderClan were going to be alright.

But soon the Gathering would be starting, and along with it the announcement of the death of Aspenstar. Another leader gone too soon - what must the other Clans think by now? Blue hues swept across the leaders that Dogbark had joined, though none of their expressions she could make out from where she stood. Her gaze finally rested on Dogbark. She wanted to convey to him that everything was going to be alright. ThunderClan would survive this as they had so many tragedies before. That she was here, his senior warriors were here to support him, and that every cat from the youngest kit to the oldest elder were here for him.

Cindersky allowed it to linger until it became apparent that others might find her staring weird - not that she would have cared. Navigating the sand and gathered cats she found a spot in the middle off to the side where she could sit back and patiently wait for the start of the announcements.

—Clearlight of Thunderclan—

The brown tabby queen padded quietly with the rest of Thunderclan. This was her second Gathering…but the first Gathering they were having without Aspenstar. She hadn’t known the leader well at all, but the loss of the leader was evident throughout the clan. It was like there was some hole in the clan now, like something had been ripped out. The entire thing was making her feel…hollow…in a way. Clearlight sighed.

Her thoughts turned to her kits. She, of course, didn’t like the thought of leaving them all alone back at camp…but Clearlight needed to know the happenings of the clans. She was new here. A recent addition, which meant that Clearlight needed to be on top of matters. She needed to be informed. So here she was. Clearlight spotted another cat sitting nearby and padded up to her, deciding to make a conversation.

“Hello,” Clearlight started, hesitated, then started again. “Can…can you believe it? Aspenstar is gone.” Clearlight swallowed. Oh yes, Clearlight, the perfect way to start a conversation is to talk about the dead leader. Perfect. Just wonderful.

“My, you’re right, it is rather chilly.” Raccoonear’s gaze flicked to the sky. Holding these sort of things at night never helped during Leafbare. Although her pelt was rather thick, the cold still managed to seep through. “Thunderclan must’ve ran into some sort of issue, while they are known for being late, not this late. “

[yeah, she’s by far my favorite character (: ]

Mouse’claw turned to notice Thundercland arrival, albeit without their leader. Where was Aspen’star? “Theres thunderclan. Later than ever. Sundust // He/him

Sundust trotted into the clearing, emerging from the middle of the group Thunderclan cats to find a spot to sit. His peach-hued gaze anxiously flicked from Dogbark to the other leaders as the older tom made his way over. He stared at the seastones, his gaze slowly lowered to where the medicine cats sat, and his stomach gave a funny jerk. Would he be sitting among them next gathering? Quietly explaining what he was doing up there to the other medicine cats whilst the entirety of the clans could gawk at him? And what about Rosepaw? It was most certainly a lot of pressure for a young cat, to be a representative of Thunderclan.

On that thought, his gaze quickly swept the crowd in search of the young molly. He wouldn't speak to her or approach her - he wanted her to enjoy her time with the other apprentices - but he wanted to be sure she seemed alright. But alas, he could not spot her. Either she had stay home - which Sundust would not blame her for - or she was mixed in the sea of cats. His eyes returned to the seastones, where Dogbark now sat next to Kestrelstar, and offered the scarred tom a quick nod, knowing full-well it was unlikely to be seen in the midst of the other cats.

The golden tom settled in a quieter corner, still near cats, but not in the depths of the cacophony. His ears flicked back and forth as he picked up bits and pieces of conversation, none concerning him, few mentioning Thunderclan, apart from a few disgruntled mutterings which Sundust resisted the urge to shoot dirty looks towards. Geez, he really needed to relax. What did he care about the other clans' slandering of Thunderclan? He never let it bother him before. He concluded that he was just on edge with everything going on; he would feel better once everything was out in the open, off of his chest.

Reassured by this, Ivypaw sidled up to him, noticing how small she was compared to the warrior. Then, as she looked up at his eyes, a gasp left her lips. But she felt it was rude to ask how he'd gotten blind in one eye. That was a rumour she'd heard concerning Sundust, but she still didn't want to ask about it. So instead she sat on her haunches next to him, noticing his gaze drifting to the area where the medicine cats sat.

"H-Hi, Sundust!" she said, attempting to sound like she wasn't the nervous apprentice she'd been when she was six moons. "How are you?"

"H-Hi, Sundust!" she said, attempting to sound like she wasn't the nervous apprentice she'd been when she was six moons. "How are you?"

[Just to let you know, Sundust is not visibly blind in his eye; it's actually quite uncommon for blindness to be visible by means such as cloudy eyes or the likes. You could just play it off as Ivypaw recalling rumors of his visual-impairment, or something of the sort, however!]

Sundust blinked as he realized a younger voice had called his name, and glanced down to find Ivypaw next tom. From his recollection, she was a rather kind apprentice, close to Shiningskies as well if he remembered correctly. His gaze brightened cheerfully, both glad to have a distraction from his worries, and to get a chance to speak with an apprentice. He always enjoyed mingling with the youth of Thunderclan, and found they could be quite insightful, despite their age.

"Hello, Ivypaw. Enjoying the gathering?" It was a standard greeting, but he supposed he could have chosen something in better taste. The warrior doubted there would be very much to enjoy at this particular gathering. Windclan was missing a medicine cat, Riverclan seemed to have lost their deputy by some means, and then there was Thunderclan, who had lost their leader. That was certainly the hardest loss, and it made Sundust nervous that the other clans now knew that Dogbark ruled alone. Thunderclan was weak. Sure, he along with Rosepaw would soon take up the mantle of medicine cat, but he could not envision them being a true asset to Thunderclan, at least at the beginning.

What worried him even more was that Shadowclan had all of their ranks filled, the clan as a whole was strong. He wouldn't put it past them to come up with some twisted reason to take territory while they held the most power - Shadowclan is thriving, Shadowclan is producing more kits than ever. Shadowclan needs more space. It's leafbare. Surely you puny clans don't need all that territory? Ugh, the thought disgusted him. Hopefully Dawnstar could be sensible, could be empathetic enough to leave things well enough alone. Though, he understood that would be quite a considerable feat for the molly.

The rumours may have not been true. As Ivypaw studied Sundust's eyes, well tried to at least without him noticing, he didn't have any foggy appearance in his apparently 'blind' eye. Whoever started the rumour was clearly a stupid furball! She supposed it was partly her fault for being so gullible. Shaking off the anger that welled up in her, Ivypaw quirked a brow, wondering if Sundust was being serious. She couldn't really enjoy the Gathering. Half he medicine cats were missing or dead, it seemed that RiverClan had no deputy anymore - what happened to Splashleap? - and... ThunderClan. The only high rank in ThunderClan was Dogbark. He had no deputy to support him, no medicine cats to back him up. ShadowClan had its high ranks filled, who knew what Dawnstar would insist this Gathering?

"Well, it's alright," she said haltingly, bursting to ask whether he was blind in one eye or not. She felt it rude to ask but somehow the question tumbled out before she could rein it in. "Are you... are you really blind in an eye?" she asked, shuffling her paws anxiously, preparing herself to be scolded. If only Ivypaw could learn how to hold words in.

Sundust nodded at the apprentice's response. "Yeah, I supposed it won't be the best, hmm?" Sundust's gaze finally found Rosepaw, who didn't seem too thrilled. But then another apprentice up to her, appearing to try and engage. How lovely! It was so refreshing to see how well cats got along now-a-days. He felt like when he was an apprentice, there was no shortage of claws flashing and menacing words at gatherings. Thank Starclan these kids were finally being taught some morals.

He returned his focus to Ivypaw, brows raising in surprise at her question. "Oh-" The large tom broke off into laughter. He could count on one paw the number of times someone had been bold enough to ask him. It seemed most cats treated it as a taboo, but, frankly, it didn't bother him too much. What bothered him was when cats went around gossiping about it, but thankfully that had died down some in recent moons. "Indeed I am." His eyes glimmered with amusement as he continued on. "I don't suppose anyone's told you the story? Or whatever convoluted version that's cycling around camp this moon." He found that elder's and queens tended to gossip the most, and Ridgeclaw seemed to find telling kits scary stories entertaining, but he wasn't sure how 'scary' his story was. He had heard some crazy things though: eating a bad herb, stress and grief, a feisty rabbit, along with any other tale under the sun. Really, the true story was none too exciting, but perhaps it would interest the apprentice.

Shimmerbird gave a soft purr of gratitude at Hazelstorm's telling her she would make a good mother. She really hoped she would, she wouldn't want her future kits to suffer because of her. The warrior shook herself out of her thoughts as the stench of ShadowClan hit her, followed by the scent of ThunderClan not too long after. It appears that Dogbark was leading this time... so where was Aspenstar?

"I hope she's somewhere far away from RiverClan and that poor kit whom she abandoned. As for Fogpaw... I don't know. I want her to come back but..." the molly trailed off with a sigh and shake of her head. "Anyways, why do you think Dogbark is leading ThunderClan and not Aspenstar?" Where Aspenstar sat last Gathering. Hazelstorm was befuddled. Why was he acting like the leader? And where was Aspenstar?

WhiteRose looked up as Thunderclan padded onto the beach. Took them long enough. their orange eyes flashed in the moonlight as they observed the clan closer.

They noticed that DogBark was leading them into the gathering instead of AspenStar, Wha- but wasn't AspenStar only recently made leader? the white cat thought confused as they kept trying to find AspenStar in the crowd. They might just be ill. But then again... if DogBark is now leader I see no deputy with him... now that I think about it they don't have a Thunderclan medicine cat either... they blink thoughtfully this would be the perfect time for us to take some territory.

They sighed knowing that DawnStar would never run an attack on Thunderclan anytime soon. WhiteRose looked around the gathered cats, wondering weather they should interact with anyone. Perhaps not. I mean there is not point of a gathering, these are still my enemys after tonight.

The white cat looked over to Riverclan and noticed that they couldn't see their deputy. did they die? Or step down perhaps? they wondered as they remembered how old the Riverclan deputy was. Come to think of it.. Windclan doesn't have a medicine cat either.. all the highrank cats seem to be dropping like flys.. odd.

Even as she settled next to him he didn't move, yellow eyes void of any emotion or thoughts as they stared blankly ahead. At the faces below. Blurring together into hues of grays, blacks, and silvers. There would be no familiar dark tabby face among them. No green emerald eyes staring up at him, calculating and stoic. He would have to announce his death tonight, and the mere thought was almost enough to fling him from the top of Seastones.

ShadowClan stench soon infiltrated the beach and the biggest reaction came in the form of a single scrunch of his nose. Of course Dawnstar ignored the two leaders like always, and Kestrelstar was more than alright with that. It seemed that she might be just as eager to get the Gathering over as he was, though he couldn't look at her face to be sure.

Coming down the slope after a bit now was ThunderClan, lead by... Dogbark. With no honey-colored pelt in sight. The only thing to break through Kestrelstar's cloudy array of thoughts as yellow eyes peered down at the deputy, who instead of remaining where the deputies normally sat had join him on his other side. The RiverClan leader was curious sure, and as Dogbark turned to look at him and speak he figured he'd get an explanation as to where Aspenstar was. But the scarred tom just closed his jaw again and looked on ahead, and Kestrelstar gave a snort. He was still debating on if he should announce the incidents he had run into at Smallpines - one where a ThunderClan kit had joined RiverClan, or the fact that ThunderClan seemed to be kicking out their warriors left and right.

Now that all of the Clans were gathered though, the gray tabby held no hesitation in rising to his paws and stepping forward. "RiverClan is fairing well. Leaf-bare has frozen some of our streams, but our warriors prepared well for the coming cold weather." A simple beginning to start off as he cleared his throat of the dryness. "There have been two new apprentices that started their training this past moon; Quietpaw and Lavenderpaw." He wondered if either of the two were here tonight, but didn't have time to look for them in the crowd.

"RiverClan continues to be blessed with the addition of warriors; Codpaw is now known as Codwhisper, and Graypaw has been named Grayshell. Both have proven themselves honorable warriors who are ready to fight and defend their Clan." Once again his yellow eyes swept through the crowd, but Kestrelstar could not spot the warriors from where he was. A pity, as normally new warriors wanted to come as soon as they could.

Stars, there were quite a lot of announcements to get through weren't there? "Swansong has gifted us with five new healthy kits; Goosekit, Whiskerkit, Cloverkit, Eveningkit, and Lightkit." Not to mention taking care of the young kits Bearspot had found, but Kestrelstar wouldn't mention that. "As well as those five new kits, while out on a walk near Smallpines I had a ThunderClan apprentice-aged cat seek me out and ask to join RiverClan," he glanced over at Dogbark now, though the look he gave the deputy - or was it leader now? - was unreadable. It soon returned to look out over the gathered cats though. "Her name was Pondkit, and she will be apprenticed soon as a RiverClan apprentice."

No bragging about the apprentice joining RiverClan, no emotion at all really as Kestrelstar moved on rather quick. "While we have been thriving with new additions to our Clan, one of our warriors gave his life to save an apprentice." Stars, the claws were digging deep and Kestrelstar had to pause for a moment to collect himself. Yellow eyes searched the crowd for the familiar soft blue hues of Plumstorm, but they were nowhere to be found. They then drifted towards Snakeheart, who was not here either. His heart clenched - he had been silent for what felt like too long, he would have to continue without pulling the strength he needed from the two absence faces.

"Stormtalon sacrificed himself to save Morningpaw when an owl attacked them near the border of Lionsrange. He was a commendable warrior, and is honored by all of RiverClan." His kithood best friend, one of his partners in crimes. For the first time in public, at a Gathering, misty tears gathered in the leaders eyes though none of them fell.

"Lastly..." Kestrelstar continued on in a raspy voice. Stars, he did not want to continue. "Splashleap had decided to step down as RiverClan's deputy. Not long after, she went missing from the Clan... if any of the Clans see her, please let me know." His heart was pounding in his chest, the first tug of emotion he had felt in awhile. He just wanted this to be over with. For now, the gray tabby retreated back to his seated position, not saying anything else as he sat back down, jaw tight and eyes staring ahead once more.

Unsure of what exactly led her out into the cold tonight other than sheer stupidity, Plumstorm shows up to the Gathering late. Typically this would not be much of an issue for the she-cat, who would keep to the shoreline anyway. So that is where she heads to first, to sit and listen to the water for a while. Kestrelstar would likely be less than pleased on her decision to remain apart from the crowd, but on special occasions his feelings didn't matter.

This was definitely one such special occasion.

But a pawful of minutes slide by, and after settling somewhat comfortably the silver cat's ears flick towards the sound of another cat speaking loudly. His voice became intertwined with the sea though, and for a few brief heartbeats the shield shuts her eyes and listens to both.

Even after all of this time, Plumstorm was largely indifferent towards cross-clan relations, disputes, politics... Gatherings had always been for the night of escape and never for listening- Though that never stopped Lionstorm from pulling her into conversations with other cats in the crowd. Back then though, things were different. As time went on and so much happened, her comfort among the masses dwindled. How disappointed would her mentor be with her today? Sometimes the dreadful question burned a hole in her head for many hours at night.

Kestrelstar had been speaking for a while now, and his detached shield decides to make a brief appearance while making her appearance. With a heavy sigh Plumstorm stands and begins to pad towards the seastones, arcing around the back of the large group while trying to scope out the best spot to view the tom from, someplace easy for him to see. As she is seeking this spot out, he finally goes into Stormtalon's loss and the molly falters. It was hard enough to go anywhere outside of camp without the tom at her side. But mentioning the cats she had personally failed first-paw, while standing on a pedestal so far away and addressing literally everybody from every Clan... At least he'd left her name out. She would be spared the scrutiny.

At last the silver cat finds a stone to stand upon far behind the other cats watching, and she cranes her neck to try and catch Kestrelstar's attention. Maybe he wouldn't see her. Maybe he'd simply gaze right past her. Even so, she slowly blinks up to the tom in silence as the others chatter. And the distance between them felt a little wider.

Raypaw smiled as the Windclan apprentices all seemed to sit together in a group. He knew some of them were a bit shy and were afraid of the other clans. He was nervous, but he wasn't afraid. He might be able to take on any of these cats! Except maybe a leader. Maybe. Tigerpaw waved at him from across the group and looked over in her direction, waving his tail in greeting in response. "Hey Tigerpaw!" But next thing he knew, she wandered off, perhaps to go talk to some other cats.

Next, Streampaw came over to sit near him. Honestly, Raypaw thought she hated him so he was surprised she spoke to him. It was a sarcastic comment, but still. Then suddenly, she was gone too! She just up and left and Raypaw saw her start talking with a cat from another Clan. With a sigh, he attempted to go over and also try talking to another cat from another Clan. Maybe he could get some secrets on how they were training.

Robinbloom padded into the Gathering, following Dogbark. It felt strange without their leader. Every Thunderclan cat was feeling depressed as they followed him into the Gathering. She saw they were late to the meeting, like usual and quickly got into her usual Gathering spot. She didn't try to cheerfully talk with the other Clans, which was very unlike her. She just felt... Sad. After losing their leader, she didn't know how this was going to go. She had her head down as she listened to announcements. Apparently Riverclan's deputy stepped down then went missing? That must be rough. But it was nothing like losing a leader who had had mine lives. Deputies could be replaced much easier. She just curled her tail around her paws as she numbly listened to the noise around her.

~Emberpaw of Thunderclan~

The orange she-cat looked up from her paws. "O-okay. T-th-thank you," she stuttered before settling onto the sand. "It's m-my first g-g-gathering," she mewed shyly, looking back up at the other apprentice. She looked at the two before clearing her throat. "I... I'm Emberpaw," she said, a little more confident. She looked up as Kestrelstar spoke, eyes widening at the announcement about Pondkit. She looked away quickly, trying to not show the hurt in her eyes. Oh Pondkit... Thunderclan needs us though...

Palebrook shrugged. “Ok.” Then she turned back to Hawkblaze. She couldn’t force cats to talk if they didn’t want to after all.

~Hawkblaze of Windclan~

Hawkblaze watched Lioncloud walk away over his shoulder. "A'ight then... " He shrugged before turning back to Palebrook. "No, we got here a bit ago, we were waiting for Shadowclan and Thunderclan," he mused, turning back to look at the leaders on the Seastones. "I'm Hawkblaze," he said with a nod. He stopped for a moment as Kestrelstar spoke, listening. "Splashleap not only stepped down, but disappeared? Dang... I kinda hope she's okay, but not my clan, not my cats," he mused with a shrug. He noticed his friend padding alone and decided to flag him down. "Oi! Bro! Over here!" He called to Palecloud.

~Wolfsong and Moonfrost of Riverclan~

Wolfsong hung her head at the announcement of Stormtalon. She and Moonfrost hadn't known him well, but they had seen him, and he was a good, strong cat, a loyal warrior. She shook her head lightly. Turning to her sister, she tilted her head. "Moonfrost, when did we last see Splashleap?" Her dark tabby sister shrugged. So she didn't know either...
Moonfrost looked around as she listened to the announcements, noticing Nightleap in the crowd. She nudged Wolfsong and pointed with her tail. Wolfsong nodded in response and the pair stood to go and sit with their younger sister.

another meeting. usually, cornpaw would be bouncing around and giggling to himself, overflowing with excitement. but now..he was just walking at a leisurely pace, silent. most of his clanmates looked sad, dogbark was sad, and the negative energy made him feel compelled to act the same, for the journey at least. as soon as the clan entered the seastones and started branching off to talk to others, the bengal scurried off, scouting around for someone to chat with.

he caught a glimpse of nectarflame shouldering her way through cats to take a seat, was tempted to go over there, but ultimately decided not to. looking around, he spotted a cat approaching cindersky - cats approached every other cat he knew too. which, wasn't really a problem, he liked meeting new cats, but none of the cats near him looked like they'd be interesting to talk to. accepting his fate, which would be death by boredom, he sat down and listened to kestrelstars announcements.

turns out, he wouldn't die today, because there was a cat walking right his way! he looked to be an apprentice, though much younger than him, from what cornpaw could see. "HEY, hey!! you!" he called out, waving his paw and gesturing to the spot beside him with a twitch of his tail. "I'm bored, like, SUPER bored. are you bored?? even if you aren't bored, we should talk, 'cause im bored!"

Just as Palecloud approached the open space he would sit in, he was jerked out of his foggy thoughts by the call of “the bro”. His mood lightening at the sight of him, the tom didn’t seem so distant, or tired anymore. Now walking with a bit of pep in his step, he made his way, weaving through the crowd, to Hawkblaze who seemed to be accompanied by another cat. Wonder who that is? Well, Hawk wouldn’t be talkin’ to them if they were a jerk, the guy has good judgement, this cat must be a good guy. “hey, man, what’s up?” a grin creasing the toms muzzle, his tail flicked about behind him. The tom quickly thereafter realized his manners had gone missing. Where’d they go? Oh, there they are. “excuse my manners— I’m Palecloud, and you are?” Funny thing is, Palecloud could go from “bro” to “mr.oh-so-mannerly” just like that, it’s just that sometimes he forgets to. Either way, the weird ability is at his advantage.

She tapped the ground beside her with her tail. “You can sit down if you want.” Then she turned her head back to Hawkblaze to answer his question about Hawkblaze.

“Yeah, it surprised us all. Splashleap was an amazing deputy, but I think the pressure got to her and she eventually got too overwhelmed. *Streampaw of WindClan*

Streampaw watched as the RiverClan leader stepped forward on the Seastones, Kestrelstar. The grey tom seemed to have a similar presence as her leader Twilightstar, although he looked shorter in stature and looked as dull as a pure grey stone. He had started speaking about how RiverClan was fairing, which seemed to be a normal procedure for gatherings. There had been some announcements about new apprentices and warriors, which the apprentice took interest in. More warriors and apprentices possibly more allies, or enemies.

There also seemed to be a large number of kits being announced, including a ThunderClan cat joining RiverClan? Streampaw narrowed her yellow eyes at that statement, slightly judging the kit for abandoning her clan. What kind of cat would do such a traitorous act? Of course, her thoughts were interrupted by the next thing the RiverClan leader had to say. A warrior sacrificed their life to save an apprentice. The slender apprentice nodded her head respectfully, as this act needed an acknowledgment of respect. That wasn't the only surprise left for the dilute calico apprentice. A deputy stepped down from their position, and they've gone missing?

"Why would a respectable Clan Cat do such a thing?" Streampaw muttered, mostly to herself.

The squirrelly Clan that climbed trees had arrived. ThunderClan. Their scent mingled with the other scents. At Shimmerbird's question, Hazelstorm narrowed her eyes, her green gaze sharpening as they sought out Dogbark, tracking him as he padded up and surprisingly, leapt onto the place where the leaders sat. Where Aspenstar sat last Gathering. Hazelstorm was befuddled. Why was he acting like the leader? And where was Aspenstar?

"Maybe Aspenstar's sick," Hazelstorm pointed out helpfully. "Y'know, with greencough or something. Or maybe she didn't want to show her face."

Shimmerbird shrugged, her ears perked in interest as Kestrelstar began his announcement. "Who knows, but hopefully she's alright. As much as ThunderClan has done to us, we've paid them back. I don't wish them harm, simply peace," she said wistfully, getting slightly off topic from the original point.

"Anyways, do you think Dawnstar will see Splashleap stepping down as a weakness and do something?" Shimmerbird said, dropping her voice to a whisper as if mentioning the ShadowClan leader's name would cause her attention to fall on them.

"Maybe Dawnstar would," muttered Hazelstorm, dropping her voice too. She might've had more courage than Shimmerbird, but all th same, who knew what ShadowClan would do if they heard her talking disrespectfully of their oh so grand leader. "I wouldn't put it past her. That lunatic. I hear-"

She broke off, meaning to tell Shimmerbird about Firepaw, that ShadowClan apprentice she and now-Codwhisper had met on their trip around the territories. She remained silent, not wishing to tell her friend. It was a sacred memory, one of the few days where Hazelstorm had been genuinely happy.

The she-cat had kept her green, unblinking eyes fixed on the leaders as she responded. Green hues flicked to where Dawnstar was, and the young warrior felt a twist of disgust. Either she was insane or just liked murder for the sake of it. She flicked back an ear, turning back to Shimmerbird.

"Who do you think Kes is going to make deputy next?" Privately, Hazelstorm thought that Splashleap had been a decent deputy. She'd organised patrols and handled the Clan whenKestrelstar was away doing StarClan-knows-what. Hazelstorm waited for Shimmerbird's reply to fall and wondered what she thought.

~ Raypaw of Windclan ~
Raypaw was watching as all the cats shuffled in. Thunderclan just looked depressed and Shadowclan didn't look quite as evil as he had imagined. Their leader, Dawnstar still did though. She just like stared at everyone, like she was preparing to attack them all. Raypaw noticed the Thunderclan cats all looked sad, especially as their leader took his place among the other leaders. No cat sat in the Thunderclan deputy's spot. He thought that he had remembered that Thunderclan's leader was a she-cat, but the cat sitting there now was a tom. He wondered what was going on.

The Riverclan leader started off with announcements. He talked about a bunch of boring things, new warriors, apprentices, kits, blah blah blah. If it wasn't his own Clan, he didn't know why he should really care. But the end interested him. Their deputy stepped down then immediately went missing? Wow that sounded rough. He couldn't imagine what that was like. He thought what would happen if Wolffang went missing. There would be so much chaos. He wondered how Riverclan was doing.

As he sat there, contemplating all of this he saw an excited cat wave at him. He was an apprentice, a bit older than Raypaw, and looked very energetic. He smelled like Thunderclan, but yet didn't seem as sad and depressed as his Clanmates. Raypaw smiled at him, then went over to sit by him. The apprentice started immediately talking about how bored he was, and Raypaw couldn't agree more. It was just so gloomy at this meeting. Something needed to liven up! "I know right! I'm pretty bored too. Everyone has been, like super depressed or something. Do you know what happened? Every cat just needs some cheering up, I think." He wondered if this other apprentice knew what was happening with his own Clan. There had to be a reason they were all so miserable looking. "I'm Raypaw, by the way. From Windclan."

Shimmerbird's amber gaze watched the leaders after Kestrelstar finished making his announcement, although the ears pointed in Hazelstorm's direction made it clear she was still listening. Now that Kestrelstar was done it was time to see how the other Clans would react to the news of Splashleap stepping down. Hopefully no one would care much or make any rude comments, RiverClan was still strong, deputy or not.

"What? What did you hear?!" she whispered, curious as to why her friend trailed off mid sentence. How could Hazelstorm do this to her, she was just about to say the juiciest piece of gossip! Shimmerbird was quickly distracted from those thoughts when Hazelstorm asked her who she thought the next deputy would be. "I'm honestly not too sure, perhaps one of the Shields? They are technically above warriors. Or maybe it will be you, I think you'd make a great deputy," the warrior purred, flicking her tail at Hazelstorm playfully.

Memories of that meeting came back to him. He hated seeing it repeating in his head. He didn't make any eye contact with Lioncloud. He couldn't or he might just break down then and there. She hesitated. Could she trust Shimmerbid with this very holy, happy memory? Hazelstorm bit her lip, why shouldn't she? They were best friends forever! She shouldn't still have trust issues.
"O-ho, so there was this one time during apprenticeship when Codwhisper - he was Codpaw then - and I went on a beautiful trip 'round the territories," the tabby began, lowering her voice again. "We got caught by this ShadowClan apprentice, Firepaw, but he was nice enough not to turn us in. Cod and I asked him five questions about ShadowClan. I asked him one about how sane Dawnstar was and he said something about her being insane. Or not, I can't really remember." She scrunched up her eyes, trying to recall that day. Nothing came to so she opened her eyes again.

"Me? A deputy?" Hazelstorm asked. She did want to be one as an apprentice but now, not so much anymore. "I'd do a horrible job. I'll be too outspoken at Gatherings, who knowswhere that'll lead me. But thanks, Shimmerbird! If you overcome your fears, you'd make a fantastic deputy too."

Hazelstorm paused for breath, and continued. "There's more experienced warriors than me hecould choose anyway," she insisted. "If I ever become deputy, it won't be by murder."

Another scent caught her attention and Hazelstorm wrinkled her nose. It was unfamiliar. She lifted her head, looking over the huge crowd of cats, spotting a... rogue!! In a Gathering!!! This was unacceptable.

"Shimmerbird, do you smell that new scent?" the brown she-cat whispered. "I think a rogue just came over."

Shallowshiver | they/them

So far, the gathering had been going...strangely well, all things considered. The warrior was a bit on guard, seeing as there had been a track record going on of gatherings becoming a bit hostile. Still, nothing had happened this time to cause much need for concern. Kestrelstar completed his announcements first, though he seemed extremely out of it. Their eyebrows scrunched up a bit, but they didnt pay it much mind. That was his business, and RiverClans business alone.

They were currently seated on the outskirts of the clearing, just outside of the main crowd. Normally several other cats lingered towards the edges, so seeing other cats wasnt that odd. What was odd, though, was the noticably off scent of a foreign cat hanging around. It didnt smell like a cat from any of the other clans, and certainly wasnt ThunderClan scent. They immediately went on guard, claws slowly unsheathing. Sharp orange eyes scanned the area, their huge form slowly stalking towards the foliage surrounding them. Shallowshiver blended into the darkness almost perfectly, and what was visible of them was a huge silhouette.

Eventually, they finally caught sight of the stranger. He was trying to stay hidden, but his foul smell gave hiim away. Slinking over to him with a harsh look on their face, the black tabby let out a hiss, "What the hell are you doing here? Scram" their words held more hostility than they normally would had she been speaking to another cat, but this entire situation didnt call for kindness.

Shimmerbird listened as Hazelstorm admitted to travelling around every Clan's territory. It seemed mouse-brained, but it had happened when her friend was an apprentice and it's not like she was doing any harm. "I'm glad you didn't get caught, that sounds fun honestly. I won't tell, don't worry. And you would definitely make an amazing deputy," she purred, giving Hazelstorm a smile.

That was cut off however when her friend said something about a rogue and she whipped around, pelt bristling as her eyes landed on the offending cat. "You! Out! You're not meant to be here. Leave before we make you," Shimmerbird snarled as she took a threatening step forward. Normally she wouldn't go straight for violence, but her friend was here and she wouldn't let this scum hurt Hazelstorm. Plus, it was a gathering, and they weren't supposed to be there.

She forced her neck fur to lie flat as she approached this rogue. Shallowshiver was there as well, and Shimmerbird. Hazelstorm kept her claws in, knowing StarClan wouldn't be pleased if fighting broke out at a Gathering, even if it was a rogue.

"You, out," she meowed fiercely, spiking up her fur, pointing one claw towards the exit. "You are not welcome here. Please leave. Leave now and depart unscathed, or go home with a couple of scratches if you don't do it willingly."

Hazelstorm wasn't willing to fight but if she had to, she would. She'd fight for the Clans, for Shimmerbird, for safety. And peace most importantly. Hazelstorm flattened her fur, her level green gaze cool and calm, but burning with an emerald fire.

"Oh, are you from Riverclan then?" He asked, looking back to the she-cat. "I'm sorry if you already mentioned it, I must have missed it," he chuckled. "There's a lot going on this Gathering, its a little hard to keep track of." He nodded, thinking. Riverclan and Thunderclan seem to be surrounded by tragedy. His ear flicked as he thought to himself. "Hey, broski, what do you think?" He asked, looking over his shoulder at Palecloud.

[ @doof @Raven~ ]
Palebrook nodded. “Yes, I’m in RiverClan. I don’t think I mentioned it before.” She glanced up at Twilightstar, Hawkblaze’s leader. “Yeah, there is a lot going on. Even if only Kestrelstar spoke. Who do think is going to go next?” In her opinion, she wanted Dogbark to go next. She wanted to know why Aspenstar wasn’t at the Gathering this moon. It was strange behavior, that was for sure. That or Twilightstar, so that Hawkblaze could elaborate on whatever the WindClan leader said.

~Emberpaw of Thunderclan~

Emberpaw was jolted from her thoughts by the comments of the two apprentices. She looked up at them, her ears drooping. "Y-yes... Thats right. I'm f-from Thunderclan. We... We've had a rough leafbare..." she said softly, thinking about everything that had occurred over the past moon. "I'm sure that... Dogbark will clear everything up," she said, looking up at him sitting on the Seastones. "Lavenderpaw, will you look after Pondkit?" She asked, slightly embarrassed. "I hope that Riverclan is nice, I've never been," she mused, looking around at the other members of Thunderclan that had come. She was sure she wasn't the only one feeling a little disheartened.

[ @~Fierce~ @/Raven~ ]

Dirtpaw nodded at Emberpaw’s answer. “ThunderClan’s a nice Clan,” He meowed. “They’re good at hunting in the undergrowth, right?” He looked up at Dogbark. “But hang on, you haven’t told us why Dogbark is with the other leaders but Aspenstar is no where to be found. **Elmshadow of Shadowclan**
[OPEN]

The broad grey tom walked through the snowy territories in behind Dawnstar. He'd left Goldenstep in the nursery with their new kits, glad for the opportunity to leave them. He loved Goldenstep but all the time in the nursery was beginning to make him stir crazy; going to a gathering was just the distraction he needed to feel like a warrior tom again. As his usual, he found a secluded spot along the outskirts of the Shadowclan cats with a good view of the Seastones to prepare for the gathering to start. He raised an eye brow curiously as Dogbark led in the Thunderclan cats. Dysfunctional as always. Did Thunderclan run off yet another leader?

As Kestrelstar began to speak, Elmshadow turned his attention to the Riverclan leader. He seemed off but he spoke of nothing that was of much interest to Elmshadow. New Kits, more dead Riverclanners, another testament to Thunderclan's dysfunction. But they'd lost their deputy. Possible advantage but unlikely to matter.

**Sunsetpaw of Shadowclan**
[OPEN]

The bright she-cat melded herself with the rest of Shadowclan as they walked out onto the chilly beach. She watched her father's bobbed tail a catlength ahead of her but let her mind stay blank. Goldenstep was back with her two younger sisters, confined again to the nursery as Elmshadow continued about his life. She found a spot. It crossed her mind to mingle with some other apprentices, get to know some other cats outside of Shadowclan even, but she couldn't muster the actual desire to do so. So she turned her attention to the leaders sitting atop the Seastones.

**Codwhisper of Riverclan**
[OPEN]

The spotted young warrior ran across the frozen ground, following the fresh tracks of his clan. As he slipped into the gathering he noticed Windclan, Riverclan, and Shadowclan were already present and Thunderclan was just arriving as he was. Great, arriving with the notoriously late Thunderclan. He'd gotten caught out exploring longer than he'd expected. The newfound freedom that warriorhood brought made him itch to go further, check beyond the normal territory boundaries. Just going out to be out had quickly lost its luster. He wanted to see more, know more; until it occurred to him that tonight was the full moon and he didn't want to miss his first gathering as a warrior. He scanned the gathered cats looking for Firepaw before a pang of guilt coursed through him again as he thought of Honeypaw. He closed his eyes briefly; he could see Honeypaw any day he wanted and he found himself looking forward to it and seeking it out when he woke and left the warrior's den more and more every morning. Firepaw was crossing his mind less often on a normal day but the prospect of seeing him here at the Gathering made his paws tingle. He closed his eyes tighter. None of what he was feeling made sense to him. Why was a friend he'd had a brief interaction with so important? Regardless, from his place near the back he couldn't make out much of any of the cats and Kestrelstar began speaking before he could make the decision to go looking. So he sat back and focused on his leader. Pride surged through him at his name being mentioned as a new warrior but he hung his head respectfully as Kestrelstar reported the news of Stormtalon and Splashleap.

He however, suspected they were talking about clan tension, something that was always going to be talked about at these gatherings, and he would always be asked of his opinion on. So, he made a quick assumption. “Yeah, looks like Dogbark is in leadership now.” unlike most cats, who would’ve tried to sugarcoat it and say she was sick perhaps, he wanted to get to the facts. No leader would stay behind, he’s never seen it in his lifetime, a leader agreeing to stay behind. His gaze lifted to the weary, and depressed looking Dogbark. Despite his minor disliking of Thunderclan, he felt bad for the guy, he was probably receiving all of the anger and sadness from his clan that shouldn’t even be directed at him, and more so at themselves and Starclan. He brushed one paw over the sand, shaking his head slightly. “ ‘s a damn shame.”

Sundust snorted, "A stick? Haven't heard that one yet. You'd think that'd leave a mark, huh?" The tom shook his large head, chuckling. That had to be, by far, the most ridiculous version of the story yet. "Well, the real story's quite boring by comparison to be frank," he began, curling his tail over his paws as he spoke, "But maybe it'll interest you."

He cleared his throat, eyes gleaming with amusement, and started his story. "I'd just come back from a patrol, we'd actually had come back early 'cause I wasn't feeling great, yeah?" The warrior tried to set a scary, dramatic tone, but - as it always happened when he tried to force his voice to have some intonation in it - his tone was a little off. Not quite the perfect theatrical voice. Ahh, whatever. Maybe it would add to the spooky-story-vibe he was going for. "Well, we were explaining to the deputy while we were back early, and everything went kinda fuzzy. Words were jumbling, and it seemed like everyone was speaking nonsense. Things got confusing from there.

"I remember feeling sorta numb, things were getting blurry, I ended up in the medicine den, and then BAM-" The thick-furred warrior emphasized his exclamation by spiking out his fur, "I couldn't see a thing. Ok, that's a lie, I could see a bit. But it was real scary, what with me being barely a warrior n' all. I hung out in the medicine den for a while, my right eye got better, my left eye didn't." The tom shrugged. "It's not all that bad. But, moral of the story? Don't step on a toad." He snickered at his nonsense ending. It was something his mother used to do, telling him and his siblings stories as a kit, and he liked to do the same whenever he got the odd opportunity to tell a story.

Blizzardwind stayed silent throughout the whole Gathering. The tom had, even now he had to admit it, been on a rapid decline. He was falling apart. Not dying, obviously, but he looked like hell. Skinny. Wobbly. Patchy. One more blow to his heart was all it took to turn him into the old man he had become. 79 moons. He had lost cats. Watched Clanmates grow old, die. He had watched them be slain beside him in battle. But the loss of losing his apprentice. His friend. That pain... it was a horrible, gut wrenching agony. He sat alone, off to the side, looking at his paws the whole gathering.

The shell of a prideful, brave warrior. A massive scarred, intimidating tom. With no drive inside him anymore.

Gingercry wrapped his tail tightly around his thickset body as an added layer against the chill. He turned lazy amber eyes onto Kestrelstar. He nodded with a small smile at Kestrelstar's announcements of new apprentices and new warriors. Gingercry was always proud of new ranks, regardless of the clan they were in. He was aware that the news was shared for the double edge of giving the young cats their due acknowledgement but to also send a message of strength to the other clans. But each Clan carrying on healthy and strong was best for all clans. Gingercry purred roughly over the new kits. Dawnstar was unlikely to announce the birth of his own granddaughters born this moon but the thought of Petalkit and Burningkit growing up in the same generation across the border from these newcomers to Riverclan brought a comforting sense of eternity to the aging warrior. He bowed his head respectfully, feeling a deep sense of remorse for the Riverclan cats over their dead fellow warrior and missing former deputy. He didn't know Splashleap personally but he knew she was a good, strong warrior and it was always a shame to lose such a cat.

Lesfecho followed Dogbark and the rest of Thunderclan onto the beach. She wasn't a huge fan of gatherings. Spending most of her life as a loner she'd been conditioned to keep her distance from other cats, especially large groups of them. She was slowly growing more comfortable and learning to depend on the clan around her but the gatherings still put her on edge. There were too many cats, cats who were otherwise hostile, and with only a full moon to keep them from turning hostile in a heartbeat. But she decided that this was an important gathering to attend. She'd supported Aspenstar to the end, though it hadn't been a popular position the last moon. Losing Aspenstar felt like losing a piece of herself she didn't know she had until it was gone. She found a spot among the other familiar Thunderclan cats and curled her tail around her paws.

~ Raypaw ~
Raypaw leaned in close as the apprentice seemed to have a big secret. He said he did know what happened, but trailed off, looking at Dogbark. Was he expecting the deputy to make the announcement? Agh, he couldn't wait that long! He anxiously tapped his tail against the ground as the apprentice introduced himself. Ah so his name was Cornpaw. From Thunderclan, like he had guessed. Cornpaw was an interesting name, one he had never heard before.

Finally, Cornpaw decided to tell Raypaw the secret. He leaned his head in closer and twitched an ear towards the yellow and brown bengal. He nodded his golden head solemnly with eyes wide as he prepared himself for whatever was making Thunderclan cats so depressed. Cornpaw started to whisper than spoke the last part of the secret pretty loudly. Raypaw flinched away for a moment because of the loud noise that was literally right in his ear. But as what Cornpaw said sunk in, Raypaw shook his head in disbelief. Aspenstar was dead? By coyotes?!? Woah, that was insane! No wonder he hadn't seen a cat sit in the deputy spot. Their former deputy was now leader! He wondered if her death was really heroic. That's all that really mattered to him. Heroism.

After looking around once, he turned back to Cornpaw. "Woahhh, really? That's so crazy. No wonder everyone looks like they all swallowed mouse dung". He would probably be sad if Twilightstar suddenly died. And he wouldn't know what to think if Wolffang was leader. Oof. Poor Thunderclan. "Was it really heroic? Did she like, fight off three coyotes at once and drive them all off single-pawedly?" He imagined a scene like that in his head. Aspenstar was kind of young, right? So that meant she would have had a lot of lives. It must have been heroic if she lost all of her lives. "So does that mean that guy," He jerked a claw towards Dogbark. "Is Dogstar?" That's usually what happened when a cat became leader, right?

Her first gathering... good it was stressful. There were so many cats here, all four clans gathered at once. As the lithe apprentice padded through the bunch of cats she tried not to get trampled under any large cats' paws. She was wondering where half of the deputies were, but anyway, she was sure they were just late, or something.

She let her light green gaze rest on her leader for a moment... and padded right into another cat. The smell of another clan oozed over her as she quickly backed, almost bumping into another cat. "Sorr- My apologies!" she mewed quickly, while rubbing her nose slightly, which was the first body part to make contact with the other cat. "I didn't... see you there"

She wasn't usually looking for conversation with others, especially with other clans, but it was a gathering, so what other things would she do. Sighing she turned to look away from her own clan-mates, and searched for someone... at least half-interesting. Thought the other clans seemed to disappoint her in her seek for a conversation partner.

Gatherings. Weren't those fun. Well no. Not if you were forced to sit and make boring small talk with the same four cats, again and again, all the time, while listening to the leader shout out names, boring news, and occasionally get into a bicker over the other clans being so soft and all. Before he became deputy he had wanted nothing but to be special, in a good way, be seen as beyond what his traitor-parents had been, and that cats wouldn't only remember him by his heritage. He had wanted to stand out, and the best way had been to become deputy, of course, leader if he could stay alive (and on Dawnstar's good side, which probably was the harder part) for long enough. And he still enjoyed it, he didn't enjoy having to deal with annoying cats on the patrols, or cats treating with aggravation just because he had to place them on one. They should take the patrol as an opportunity to prove their worth like he had done in the past, and they should be glad they didn't have to assign them themselves.

Leaping up beside Bunnyfang he was gland he hadn't been the last to arrive, since neither the Riverclan deputy nor the annoyance from Thunderclan were here, but when he glanced up Dogbark was sitting with the leaders, in the place where Aspenstar should be. That was new. And unusual for a leader to die so quickly, usually each leader had more around a year to rule their clan, but Aspenstar had apparently been weak enough to fall in mere moons. She could also just be so sick Doggo had to take over for a bit. Shadestorm wasn't quite sure what option he'd prefer, a clan without a leader was weaker, but Dogstar would be much more annoying to have to deal with than Aspenstar had seemed to be.

He also glanced around for the Riverclan deputy, but she seemed to also not be around at all. Good to make Riverclan weaker and distracted to help the fox-plan succeed, but it also meant he could be stuck with Wolffang kinda one-on-one, which seemed boring. Not bothering to even try to make conversation with the bunny, he settled down in his usual place and waited for the gathering to start for real.

There was nothing exciting going on, nothing at all. Or at least that is what Dawnstar had originally thought when she took her seat among the other leaders. Everything changed when Dogbreath arrived with ThunderClan and took a seat on the Seastones beside Fishface and Bunnystar. Dawnstar shocked herself by keeping her cool, doing nothing more than casting an irritated glare before refocusing on the rodents mixing among the fishes, the bunnies, and her own clan. They carried a familar air, one that Dawnstar would have thought they'd lost by now with how many leaders they've gone through.

So pitiful and pathetic ThunderClan has become. She didn't even need to guess what happened to Aspenstar, she was dead. ThunderClan had lost another freaking leader! It pissed Dawnstar off. These cats should be enraged, not sad about this loss. They repeat the same thing over and over and over and over again! The number of leaders ThunderClan has gone through is disturbing, something she thought that even StarClan should be sickened with. Aspenstar literally just became leader and now she was freaking dead. At the rate they were going she doubted Dogbreath would last more than three moons before dying off and being replaced.

Was she really the only one getting sick and tired of the leaders ThunderClan was going through? None of them had deserved their leadership, none of them deserved sitting up here with her and the other two. Sure, Dawnstar had her rivalry with both WindClan and RiverClan, but she held a strange type of respect for both Twilightstar and Kestrelstar. She showed that respect by killing their cats and challenging them whenever she got a chance. They were worthy of ShadowClan's jeers and heinous attention, of meeting them in battle and fighting tooth and claw to settle their differences as was the way of the warrior. She bet if she showed a single claw to ThunderClan they'd roll over, show their belly, and plead for the lives like the kittypets that they were.

Dawnstar scoffed softly to herself, ears barely catching the tail end of what Kestrelstar was saying. The loss of the deputy was the only thing that resonated through her vexation with ThunderClan. Dawnstar didn't give one single dung about the lost deputy, any cat who thought a mere rank decided the strength of a clan could burn in StarClan. Cats come and go, losing her first deputy and medicine cat taught Dawnstar that. If a clan falters or loses strength it was the leader's fault and theirs alone. The leader paid no mind to the strange cat a few warriors had frightened off, and she should be hissing at the cats in her clan who were acting too close and soft with the cats outside of ShadowClan. Alas, she just wanted to end this gathering now.

"ShadowClan hasn't had any tragic deaths, disappearances, or changes in leadership." Dawnstar growled as she spoke out after Kestrelstar. There was no point to remind the clans how strong and great ShadowClan was. It should be a common fact by now. She wanted to get this done and leave this gathering as quickly as possible. "Besides from Sharkpaw, Icepaw, Snowpaw, and Crookedpaw now serving as apprentices, and the twolegs moving out of our territory, ShadowClan has nothing else to announce." The leader finished hastily, sitting back down with a grim frown on her face.

Shimmerbird glanced over as Hazelstorm pulled out a thorn that was in her pad and gave her a sympathetic smile. Those things could hurt, but luckily it hadn't been wedged in deep enough to get Snakeheart involved in its removal. She reflexively licked both of her own paw pads just to double check that there weren't any thorns in them and gave a little sigh of relief when she found none.

The molly listened to what Hazelstorm was saying and opened her mouth to respond, but she paused when Dawnstar spoke to listen to her announcements. Nothing interesting in ShadowClan is always a good thing for us. Unless Dawnstar gets bored and decides it would be fun to cause chaos... let's just hope that doesn't happen Shimmerbird thought before going back to what she was originally going to say.

"There's no way Aspenstar is dead. She's only been leader for three moons and has nine lives, she's probably just sick like you said and Dogbark had to speak instead." There was absolutely no way another ThunderClan leader had died, right?

Vixenpaw had heard the conversation between Skyclaw and Wisteriapool from her position near them and was amused when the ShadowClan warrior's apprentice showed up and immediately made it awkward between them. She already liked Daintypaw and her attitude, so the older the apprentice stood from her position and slunk over to where the apprentice was now standing with her mentor after the guppy had left.

"Keeping your mentor in check I see, Daintypaw. It's a shame you got someone who could be a traitor, you'll clearly make a fine warrior," she purred silkily as she sat herself next to said apprentice, completely ignoring Skyclaw as if he wasn't even worth her time.

~~Skyclaw of ShadowClan~~

Skyclaw growled at Vixenpaw. "Watch what you say," He warned. "I'm no traitor. I'm not stupid. If you want to call me traitor, be my guest. Whatever. I'm going somewhere else." And with a flick of his tail, Skyclaw walked away, hissing in anger.

In that twisted mind, the leader of the froggies could consider that a weakness.

"Maybe deathly sick?" mewed Hazelstorm, though doubt was creeping into her voice. ThunderClan leaders sure passed quickly if Aspenstar was dead.

"Are Twilightstar and Dogbark going to take forever to make a simple announcement?" muttered the tabby. If she was in their situation she probably would feel differently.

Hehe. The taupe tabby just waved cheekily as the fishie left. "Toodles." She hummed softly, scuffling her paws on the ground. She glanced over at Skyclaw. Sorry I scared your girlfriend away, she wanted to say, Maybe now you can find a ShadowClan molly to fawn over, instead of a guppy. Unless you like them soft, which then that says you're on the right track. She wanted to say a bunch of things, but he was still pretty nice t her and she didn't want to mess that up. "Shame. She seemed... sweet." She simply said, turning to frown lightly at her mentor.

She didn't want to piss him off too much, he might tell Dawnstar she was a bad apprentice, and that would be good! Her ears pricked as the familiar scent of a denmate wreathed over her. Vixenpaw. She turned to face the she-cat. Yes! I got it right! That is Vixenpaw. She smiled, part welcoming towards the other cat and partly just because she was proud of herself.

"Well, I need to make sure he's not misbehaving. He's so unruly sometimes." She said with a small chuckle, tipping her head to the side lightly. A soft flush rose to her face at Vixenpaw's last sentence. "Oh... oh... thank you. Even if he's not good, I'll still figure it out and become a warrior somehow. Even if I have to learn everything myself."

In all honesty, she hardly knew Skyclaw. Maybe she was being unfair, but she did have to scare some guppy away, he was getting too friendly anyhow. She looked over to the guppy that had stormed away. And then her gaze followed her mentor who also left. Mint colored eyes narrowed in thought. Both leaving. Maybe they were going to meet up and have another chat.

She sure hoped not. Even if he couldn't handle being insulted by an apprentice, he was her mentor, and his reputation tied into her own. Also, she knew that he was a nice cat, and nice cats did stupid things sometimes. Like be nice to flirty guppies.

**Elmshadow of Shadowclan**
[OPEN]

Dawnstar's voice switched Elmshadow's attention and he watched her with an unchanging expression. Her first words were a clear dig at the other clans. If the other clans didn't already know that Shadowclan was stronger than them then it'd be their own loss; Dawnstar had earned the right to throw jest as she saw fit with the work she put into strengthening Shadowclan, more than he could say for the entirety of Thunderclan. His green gaze broke only for a moment as he bowed his head slightly at the end of Dawnstar's concise report.

**Sunsetpaw of Shadowclan**
[OPEN]

The young apprentice shifted her paws uncomfortably as Dawnstar made her report. She was split with a rising discomfort as her feelings of loyalty felt divided. She respected Dawnstar and her father but that loyalty felt somehow a betrayal to her mother, though she couldn't place how that made sense. Listening to Dawnstar make her announcements, her thoughts led her to the first tangible reason. Kestrelstar had announced some random queen's new litter of kits, why did Dawnstar not care enough about Goldenstep and her new litter? At the same time, Sunsetpaw didn't understand the point of Kestrelstar announcing new kits. Obviously the new queen wasn't there and a queen popping out a litter of kits wasn't an achievement, it happened all the time. So she kept her mouth shut and her eyes expressionless as she watched the leaders.

Wolfclaw listened to Dawnstar, flicking his tail in annoyance with the cat. Although he disliked her, he was a bit too apathetic to care.

~Robinfeather of WindClan~
It took every ounce of energy in her body to not scream in frustration at the leader of a bunch of bloodthirsty rats. Robinfeather took in a deep breath, knowing not to break the truce, even if she wanted Dawnstar to gain a new scar for every cat that had been killed. She dug her claws against the cold ground, feeling the grass and sand against her claws.

She smiled. "Its ok." she said. "if you want me to leave, I can." she then sneezed unwillingly in the same way, almost identical. "Im sorry, Im not- uh supposed to sneeze like that." she said, her pelt hot with embarassment.

This was getting awkward and uncomfortable but at least she wasn't alone in her cutesy sneezing. Yarrowshade had the grace not to point it out, simply because if she did, she might get mocked in retaliation.

Shimmerbird licked a paw and began to draw it over her muzzle in boredom. She hated conflicts and drama, but did these announcements have to lack so much substance? She at least wanted to here something interesting! "I hope that's all... I can't believe ThunderClan would really be that weak to go through so many leaders in such a short amount of time," she murmured, glancing up to where Dogbark sat on the stone. "And who knows, maybe they're both just so old their joints have gotten stuck," the molly teased, snorting softly in amusement at her own joke.

Hehe. The taupe tabby just waved cheekily as the fishie left. "Toodles." She hummed softly, scuffling her paws on the ground. She glanced over at Skyclaw. Vixenpaw let out a soft laugh at Daintypaw's sarcasm when the guppy left, but was slightly surprised when Skyclaw left as well. Wow, ShadowClan warriors really were lacking these days, he had just let an apprentice push him around. "You can always ask Dawnstar for a new mentor if he doesn't work out. Trust me, she would appreciate you taking the initiative much more than learning nothing from a warrior who's supposed to be teaching you," the tabby said as she listened to said leader's announcements idly. Nothing interesting had happened and Dawnstar said as much which was to be expected.

"I should be taking my assessment soon, but even after I'm a warrior I wouldn't mind giving you some tips. You clearly have the determination and drive to become a wonderful warrior, ShadowClan needs more cats like you." Was Vixenpaw being manipulative? Perhaps. But it was only because she saw something in Daintypaw and believed the young apprentice could become a formidable warrior and she would help her get there, then in the future they would be on the same side. She couldn't really lose unless Daintypaw decided to turn traitor or something, but in that case the molly would put her down herself.

Daintypaw was surprised to see that Vixenpaw found her attitude amusing. Usually older cats got all ticked off with her gall. But it was good to now that not all older cats were as splenetic as the ones she had interacted with had been. A new mentor sounded nice. But she still had yet to take this one on a test drive yet, so it was yet to be seen if his weakness and kindness was just a facade.

Plus, she liked being called a rascal, and she was sure most warriors wouldn't call her that.

But she just shrugged. "It'll be a good plan to fall back on. But I think I'm good right now, this one usually lets me get away with stuff. Plus, no rules about asking a different warrior to teach you something, right?" She kind of wanted to be trained by Shadestorm or Dawnstar. But Dawnstar only trained those with great potential (well... most of them. Daintypaw wasn't her apprentice yet!) And Shadestorm kind of seemed like a grump.

When Vixenpaw paused to listen to Dawnstar's report, Daintypaw, with a quick glance to see how the older cat was sitting, sat and posed just like Vixenpaw- subtly, of course. It needed to look like it was normal for her to do, sitting like an almost-warrior. Once Vixenpaw looked back to her, Daintypaw quickly relaxed into a more 'Daintypaw-like' stance.

"Oh, cool. " She grinned at the other molly's words. "Whose your mentor?" She paused a minute, before continuing anyways. "Awesome! I'm looking forward to learning from you." Okay. Maybe Vixenpaw was being dramatic. 'I'm not THAT wonderful, are I?' She paused, then grinned. 'Who am I kidding? I AM pretty great.'

"Well, thank you. I'll do my best to be the bestest warrior, I promise!"

~ WOLFFANG ~

ShadowClan was the next to arrive. Wolffang glowered at Dawnstar. He really did not like ShadowClan, especially after all the disgrace they'd caused WindClan. They'd made WindClan seem weak and pathetic, and had kept pushing them around. His lip curled. How much he wanted to sink his claws into a ShadowClan pelt again. It had been much, much too long. But now was the time for the Gathering, so he shouldn't attack anyone. Even a newborn kit knew that. Wolffang just had to resolve to fixing his gaze elsewhere. Shadestorm, despite being the ShadowClan deputy, hadn't appeared yet. Three Clans here and Wolffang was all alone in the deputy spot. He snorted. A familiar forest-scented breeze came his way and he knew that ThunderClan was arriving. The tom turned his head to see Aspenstar come in and... oh. Aspenstar wasn't there. Instead, it was Dogbark, the ThunderClan deputy. Where was Aspenstar? Had she died, or was her deputy just temporarily taking over? He didn't know, but as Dogbark leaped up onto the rock, he knew that he'd probably be alone in the deputy spot. That wasn't the end of the world. After all, it would show that while the other Clans kept going through high ranks, WindClan remained strong. Wolffang had no idea when Twilightstar would boot him from the rank, but... he hoped it wasn't anytime soon. After all, he had to prove to WindClan that he was actually a good deputy. No more break-downs or paranoia. He had to show them that he was truly strong and that he was doing better. He had to show them through actions, not sweet words.

Kestrelstar was beginning his announcements. Wolffang glanced up at him as he spoke. A couple kits made apprentices, a couple apprentices made warriors, and a queen who had given birth to five kits. Wow, that was a lot of kits for one litter, but Wolffang wasn't one to judge. A ThunderClan kit had joined RiverClan - he wondered what Dogbark would think of that. And a warrior had died to save an apprentice. An honorable sacrifice; even though Wolffang didn't care much for the other Clans, he briefly bowed his head in respect for Stormtalon. Okay, so Splashleap had stepped down. She wasn't bad... for a RiverClan cat... so he was slightly glad that she hadn't died, even though either way it wouldn't have mattered much to him. Okay, so that was RiverClan's news.

Oh, there was Shadestorm. Out of all the deputies to be around, why Shadestorm? Wolffang still had a score that he hadn't yet settled with the dark gray tabby. Shadestorm didn't offer him much of a look, so Wolffang didn't, either. It was clear that neither of them wanted much to do with each other. Luckily, Shadestorm wasn't like Finchwhisker: he wouldn't keep antagonizing him into a fit of annoyance. He knew when to keep his mouth shut. Dawnstar spoke now, and there wasn't anything interesting going on in ShadowClan. Just some new apprentices, and Twolegs who had left their territory alone. It would've been great if the Twolegs perhaps kidnapped some of ShadowClan's cats and maybe drove them out, but oh well, WindClan wasn't so lucky. And if ShadowClan moved out, Wolffang wouldn't get a chance to sink his claws into their fur. Actually, WindClan wouldn't get a chance to prove to ShadowClan that they were strong and more than just bunnies.

Vixenpaw kept one ear swiveled towards the leaders as Daintypaw spoke in case Bunnystar or Dogstink began their announcement, but kept her eyes focused on the other apprentice as they spoke. "Yes, you should definitely give him a chance, but having a back up plan is always good. If your first plan fails and you don't have a back up then you're in hot water. My mentor is Orchidmoon. She trained me well, but we haven't interacted in a little while since I'm basically a warrior, it's just been my decision not to get my assessment yet because I want to make sure I'm prepared."

Honestly, she had liked Orchidmoon and was quite dissapointed when the warrior had disappeared without a trace. Such was life though, and with the twolegs running rampant on the territory at the time Vixenpaw hadn't felt the need to get assigned a new mentor. She had completed all of her training, the only reason she was waiting was to make sure she was absolutely ready. Going in overconfident and unprepared was not something the apprentice would do, Dawnstar would hate that.

"Oh, and here's another tip, always pay attention to politics and information. A lot of ShadowClan cats are big brutes who think with muscle and no brain, and a lot of other cats think that's what Dawnstar is like, but it's not. The only reason she's so successful is because she gathers information and knows when and where to strike, and where not to make enemies. I mean, all the Clans talk about how much they hate her, yet they haven't banded together to take her down. It's not a coincidence, trust me. And gaining favor with the right cats will boost your own status and make you better. Perhaps if you do well in the next moon I will give you some more advice," she purred, giving Daintypaw a half smile. It wasn't sincere, but it wasn't fake either. It was sort of a 'you have to prove yourself if you want my attention' thing. And hopefully the young apprentice would not disappoint her. "Things rarely come for free in this life after all."

Locustmoon | he/him | ThunderCLan warrior

He had been perfectly content, sitting in his little spot in the bushes, away from everything else. He had been fine, barely being able to hear what the leaders and Dogbark were saying, their voices faint and covered by the mewing of the other cats around him. He had been fine, being alone. No, really. He didnt actually mind it at all. Between strangers crowding him from every side and the loudness of it all, being alone and tucked away from everyone else was a blessing. He much preferred being able to just listen in on everything rather than actually trying to socialize in order to get that information.

As rustling in the bushes a couple fox lengths away caught the tall toms attention, bringing him from and thoughts and instead causing him to focus on whoever or whatever had made the noise. Poking his head through the bushes, Locustmoons eyes landed on...huh. Well, that wasnt expected. At the sight of Bounceberry, his eyes momentarilly widened ever so slightly before returning to normal once again. A quick nod and a tilt of his head to offer a sort of invite to the tom, and he was pulled his head back out of the bushes and away from Bounceberry. He wouldnt be that upset if the medicine cat didnt take him up on the offer, since he probably wouldnt have done the same. But if he did follow, then he better not expect a lively conversation.

The tabby warrior wasn't much of a fan of Gathering, socializing and being polite to the other Clans. Personally, she found a horrific waste of her precious time. So instead she looked for one of the only cat's she could tolerate. Redshrike wasn't here, sadly, and Bounceberry was sitting up- Nope, he was moving. Brackenfire watched him slip away, and narrowed her eyes. What was he doing? Not bothering to hide herself, she padded after him, watching as a Squirrel beat her to him and ended up inviting the medicine cat to do something with simply a nod. Nope. This could be a trap, a trick. Or just a squirrel trying to converse, but she wasn't taking that chance. Sliding under the bush, she squeezed up next to him, trying to keep his hiding place hidden but also trying to give him a little personal space. Flicking his ear with her tail, she smiled lightly. ''Hey...'' He looked stressed. Looking at her friend, she leaned closer, attempting to give him a bit of comfort by brushing her shoulder with his. ''You alright?'' Her voice was soft, so unless that squirrel had really good ears, he wouldn't hear.

Twilightstar was briefly surprised to find Dogbark leaping onto the seastones, where was Aspenstar? That leader was pretty young, had only gotten her lives what felt like moons ago. There wasn't any way that she could have passed right? Twilightstar had a pawful of lives left herself, most of them having been ripped out by a certain revenge-hungry crazy fox. She was getting old, but she was too stubborn to simply retire. All of her lives were for her clan and she'd make sure they'd all be used serving WindClan to the best of her abilities.

ThunderClan, has had terrible luck with their leaders, worst even so knowing that they had earned RiverClan's ire. Twilightstar swung her head in the direction of the ThunderClan's, wordlessly reading their body langue and lifting her ears to hear any snippets of how Aspenstar was doing. She didn't catch anything particularly interesting, but whatever was going on couldn't be good with the way their tails hung low and heads bowed. We're they mourning? Had Aspenstar passed? The thought made molly's tail curl uncomfortably behind her. WindClan wasn't anything close to being the strongest clan in the forest and has always been one of the smallest clans, but they were strong enough to weather whatever comes their way. That was enough for Twilightstar, she was uninterested in proving their strength to everyone at every turn. They were stable and that's all that mattered to her.

The same couldn't be said for ThunderClan, it seemed that after Buckstar's rise and fall, ThunderClan's lacked any sort of stability with their leaders, they come and went so quickly that it was a wonder StarClan wasn't more concerned with it. But then again, StarClan never seemed concerned with anything clan-related in her eyes. How many messy has she had to deal with without even a warning from StarClan? Too many to count. Well, regardless of whatever was going on with ThunderClan she wished them the best. WindClan was in no position this leafbare to offer a paw to any clan right now.

Kestrelstar's announcement touched her ears and had the leader swing her head back around to listen to him. Ah, that explains his mood. He had new apprentices and new warriors, but a loss of one and the retirement and disappearance of his former deputy was enough to put anyone in a funk. Twilightstar had no words to offer the tom, it would be nice if losing ranks and warriors got easier with time, but you don't grow more numb with every rank you need to replace or cat that's sent to StarClan. One did need to learn how to deal with it and push on because life stops for no one. Twilightstar hoped he had better news to share during the next gathering.

Dawnstar spoke next, her announcement was quick and lacked the usual flare and nonsense babble of how strong ShadowClan was. It was difficult to tell if she was agitated about something or not considering she always seemed like she ate a bad piece of crowfood. As the leader finished, the WindClan she-cat had been waiting on Dogbark's announcement, hoping that she could finish last and call an end to the gathering considering WindClan had so little to share. However, as the time drew on the night grew colder with no word from Dogbark, Twilightstar sighed and rose from her position to silently call attention to herself. They'd be here all night if she continued playing the waiting game with ThunderClan.

"All is well WindClan," she announced, "prey is running, and we did have a small issue with an outsider trespassing and asking for herbs." Even though it was handled, she hoped that her cats had learned not to be completely bleeding hearts. "He was dealt with and chased out by Fallownose." The she-cat finished with that, stepping back to give her place up to Dogbark.

Shimmerbird shrugged at Hazelstorm's question as she had never thought about that before. "I'm not too sure, maybe two? It honestly depends, I might even just adopt and not have any myself," she responded after a moment before turning her attention back to the leaders when Twilightstar finally spoke. But she barely said anything, just that WindClan was doing well and that a rogue had come into their camp. Could it have been the same one that was just here at the gathering?! Nah, they couldn't be that dumb could they? Anyways, hopefully Dogbark would go soon so they could all get out of here, it was cold!

She wasn't going to ask again politely, there had been many chances and soon enough others would be swarming around them and forcing her out as well. Although she wouldn't complain too much if the outsider resisted, she could at least show off her prowess in front of everyone.

Vixenpaw scowled as another outsider strolled in and curled her lip in disgust. Oh well, just another cat for her to shred if it came down to it. "You and your sister are tresspassing. If you do not leave right now I will force you too. And you will not like it," she hissed, the fur standing straight up along her spine in anger.

Brambletree of Riverclan heard the commotion. Being a calmer tom, he went over. "Rogues, this is a sacred clan meeting. This is not the time or place to join. Please leave, or we will have to make you." He mewed calmly, but he did slide out his claws

Thick muscles rolled underneath her dark brown pelt as Dawnstar shifted her huge paws back and forth waiting for this gathering to be over. Bunnystar finally spoke and had so little to announce that if she wasn’t so irked with the rodents, Dawnstar would have started making trouble for the Bunnies. She parted her maw to snap about Dogbreath, however, the disturbance below garnered her full attention. More rats and they actually had the audacity to infest the gathering this time.

Vixenpaw, once again, was the first to catch the nasty whiff of outsider and was quick to intervene. They had a entire four clans full of warriors and once again it was the apprentice deal with the issues. Dawnstar had half a mind to promote the vixen for doing a warrior’s job. Yet any pride she could bother feeling was stifled by the hinderances tainting the beach with their filthy. Silent as ever, the huge she-cat left the stones and slithered through the cats to stand at Vixenpaw’s side. She glanced in the direction of the guppy that came to add his voice, but Dawnstar choice to ignore him.

“You should flee while you still a chance, if I have to physically remove you I’ll break all of your legs and toss you in the ocean.” Spilling filthy blood of rats on this beach repulsed Dawnstar. The sand beneath her paws was too good for that. She could break bones without spilling blood, save a mess. The other clan leaders couldn’t complaint about how she handled this, they weren’t doing dung. “Get out, both of you. The Seastones is not place for rats like you.”

Great stars above, what in the hell was wrong with ThunderClan? It felt as though he lad lost and regained the last of his lives while they all sat up here, freezing, waiting for them to announce. Kestrelstar had made sure that RiverClan spoke first, then Dawnstar and Twilightstar had given their news. But they'd had yet to hear anything from the deputy himself. Irritation sunk deep into the leaders bones as he shifted uncomfortably, feeling the frost-bitten air shiver his pelt.

Yellow eyes swung over to a commotion, as it appeared that two rogues were trespassing onto the Gathering. He rose to his paws, claws out, but before he could make a move Dawnstar was sliding off the rocks and making her way towards them. Brambletree had intervened alongside some ShadowClan apprentice. Big and bulky, Kestrelstar was certain the ShadowClan leader would be enough to handle the two, but just incase he stepped to the front of the rock, muscles tense and ready to leap down. Not that he wanted to defend Dawnstar in a battle by any means, but this was a place meant for Clans only, not outsiders.. His claws gripped the rock as he watched the scene unfold.

Hearing the commotion about the rogues he just ignored it. He was freezing and like always they were waiting on Dogbark. Wildspark stood up, moving towards the front. He was tired of keeping quiet. He was good for nothing. "Hey Dogbark we're all freezing out here and some of us won't want to catch a cold. Plus I bet we all got better things to do, so get on with the announcement!", he called up in anger. He looked around seeing there was more cats than him that were irritated with the deputy. It just took him to let it all out. The Thunderclan warrior was just wanting to get back, so he could get up early to hunt

**Elmshadow of Shadowclan**

The bulky tom sat still, watching the gathering. The leaders appeared to be growing impatient as Dogbark left the gathered cats waiting on answers as to why he was sitting atop the Seastones while Aspenstar was missing. That was just like Thunderclan though, leaving everybody waiting on their schedule. Vixenpaw's voice caught Elmshadow's attention and his ear flicked. He looked back as Dawnstar addressed somebody who didn't belong. From where he sat he couldn't get an eye on Vixenpaw or whoever she was facing off against. The situation seemed well-handled but he kept his attention on Dawnstar in case any further intervention should be needed. If the cats knew what was good for them, they'd leave now. Letting Dawnstar handle their exit would be counterproductive to their attachment to life.

**Sunsetpaw of Shadowclan**

The golden apprentice shuffled her paws as she tried to keep warmth circulating through her limbs. The night seemed to only be growing darker and colder, and the cats more impatient. She fluffed her fur against the chill but some commotion around a couple of outsiders quickly made her forget how cold she was growing. She tried to peer over or through the gathered cats to see what was going on but, just as quickly, she shrank back as Dawnstar promised to intervene.

Vixenpaw blinked in slight surprise as Dawnstar practically materialized beside her and began to threaten the outsiders. She gave a dip of her head and took a step back to let her leader take charge and deal with them, but didn't sheath her claws in case it came to blows. She knew Dawnstar would be able to easily crush them if they attacked, but that didn't mean she was just going to sit back like a coward and do nothing. During the whole encounter she hadn't acknowledged Brambletree as the apprentice was too focused on the trespassers, and he was guppy. They weren't worth her attention at all.

Hazelstorm
She grinned mischievously, sneaking a sidelong glance at Shimmerbird.
"Ooh, okay," Hazelstorm said. "So, got any crushes?" Her tone was playful, she was messing with Shimmerbird on purpose.

The tabby flicked her gaze up to Dogbark as some ThunderClan cat yelled his head off at him. She was cold to the bone, her fur chilled.

"Ol' Dogbark's going to take forever to announce his stuff," she complained, a touchannoyed. What wouldn't Hazelstor give to be sleeping in a warm nest right now, safely back in camp.

Another outsider - two outsiders - had entered the Seastones. Seriously, those cats had no brains, and was some cat inviting them? It was a little uncommon for three outsiders to show up at one Gathering. Brambletree and a ShadowClan apprentice were dealing withthem, and then Dawnstar spoke. Hazelstorm's green eyes shited up to Kestrelstar, noticing him grip the rock below him, his muscles tense. Hmm.

Streampaw was awaiting for ThunderClan to speak. She had heard from some other cats that the Clan wasn't doing well, so that is possibly why they weren't speaking up yet. Shame for their Clan? "Some of us are also trying to hear the leaders," Streampaw hissed, narrowing her yellow eyes at them.

Rookscreech wasn't happy to witness whatever the hay was happening over there. Something, something, rogue, Dawnstar threatening murder, whatever it was it didn't interest her and only reminded her of ShadowClan's callous nature.

She decided the gathering was boring as usual and needed something to do. So her eyes once again scanned the crowd lazily until the fell upon a familiar pelt. Deadmoon. Her only friend left. She took a few steps forward, instinctively and then stopped. She'd promised herself. Promised to never make the same mistake twice. To never trust anyone, to never get attached. Only idiots did the same thing over and over and expected different results. Yet she'd trusted others time and time again. No, no more...But...That didn't mean she couldn't talk to the other cat, right? She just needed to remember not to get attached, yeah.

Rookscreech, now done lying to herself, approached her old friend. She considered spooking her or something but decided against it and just sat next to her unexpectedly.
"Oh, hello. Nice to be the one to spot you first for once. Less noisy." she teased casually.

The large she-cat towered above the cats in front of her as her she remained at the back of the crowded cats, her tail lashing back and forth as her ears remain perked. The she-cat seemed be trying to prevent herself from snapping at someone, someone that wasn't there. The voices in her head were growing louder but she stayed quiet the voice of her head mixing with those of the cats around her.

It took a considerable amount of self control for Deadmoon not to whirl on the new weight with a hiss and a threat ready on her tongue, with the rogue business having her all on edge and Dogbark quite frankly taking an AGE to make his announcement leaving her sitting in the cold, she was not in the best mood right now. But when a familiar and very welcome voice graced her ear, she was glad she hadn't taken a chunk out of the individual who had surprised her. Hey! I can be VERY quiet if I choose to! I just.....do not choose to! Deadmoon complained, poking her friend goodnaturedly. I'll have you to know that the MOON doesn't talk, while your name is, quite literally RookSCREECH. Implying, you know, screeching noises. Which she had to admit she had never heard from the Shadowclan molly, but what mattered right now wasn't TRUTH. It was about winning their friendly little argument!

Attempting to take on a more serious tone, the molly inquired How are things in Shadowclan? Still doing all the clawin and bitin and killin? Hopefully the question wasn't too prying and Rookscreech wouldn't say anything to.....objectionable. Dawnstar's glare last Gathering had given Deadmoon the creeps, and she had no intention of repeating the feat. Thankfully Twilightstar didn't seem perturbed by any out-of-clan friendships as long as they didn't interfere with the health and safety of Windclan, but Deadmoon would still prefer to avoid attention being drawn their way.

After all, being pegged as a traitor was never a fun thing, and was liable to end with a whole clan piling on you. Not that it wasn't deserved in those cases where a cat DID actively betray their clan, not only by leaving but by committing some theft or murder as they did so. Which she had no intention of doing! She wasn't into the bitin and stabin and killin, so, you know, most cats were safe! Occasionally she would make an exception for an annoying outsider or Shadowclan foxheart(Rookscreech was not one, before anybody asks, she considered her friend decently chivalrous, in a weird sort of antisocial way) but most of the time, claws were sheathed. NO, OF COURSE it didn't have anything to do with the fact that she wasn't great at fighting and didn't like having her ego bruised? How DARE you suggest that?

She hissed at the cat. "Shadowclan is the best clan in the forest" After that, she gave rabbitpaw a hit on the ear, claws sheathed (Sometimes i mess it up and think sheathed is claws out LOL) and sat on the ground, gazed set on a paticuler apprentice, redpaw. She sighed, her gaze softening, fur going down and she drooped.

[ i don’t believe thunderclan will be giving updates this gathering, and kes doesn’t want his clan to sit out in the cold anymore so he will be leading them home! ]

With the outsiders handled and still no word from ThunderClan yet, Kestrelstar let out a growl. He wasn’t about to sit around all night waiting for whatever news their forested neighbors had to share. Hopefully next time they could find their tongue to participate.

”I don’t know about you but I’m not about to sit around and wait all leaf-bare long for him to give his announcement,” the RiverClan leader muttered to Twilightstar with an annoyed tail flick given to Dogbark - if the tom was still even there. He gave the WindClan leader a farewell dip of his head before turning once more to the cats below. ”RiverClan! I’m not about to have you freeze out here. We’re going home.” Kestrelstar scrambled down the rocks and landed softly on the sand below, making his way through the gathered crowd and towards the exit.

cornpaw nodded, "i know!! but I dunno why everyone's so upset about it." he murmured the last part, brows raised slightly. maybe it was just a him thing. probably a him thing. "but! at the meeting we had about her death, apparently she saved shiningskies - a warrior in my clan - from the coyotes by fighting them." he replied, eyes shifting to dogbark again once raypaw pointed at him.

"yep!! but y'know..i think aspenstars death is getting to him, he's been really quiet." he meowed, looking back to raypaw. "I don't think he's got his leader name yet, though. but he's definitely gonna get it!!" after that he went pretty much quiet for awhile, hoping that dogbark would end up talking. he never did.

jumping up, officially bored, he decided that he'd go and try to find something to do. or sneak away and go home. "anyways, bye raypaw!! you seem cool - cooler than most of the cats in my clan, so maybe we can talk at the next gathering." then he zoomed off, slipping through cats.

Rookscreech was glad to see Deadmoon hadn't lost her bark. Yes, the names.
"It's quite ironic in my opinion, though I think I said that last time. Man, we might be running out of jokes." she mused quietly. It was rather amusing that all her friendships had consisted of friendly insults but...she'd rather not think about those. Bout him. And her. Her she could deal with, they weren't as close and the generic betrayal she'd experienced so many times was something she could deal with. Him...she didn't understand why he was gone.

"Oh, yes, a lot of it. If any of you have been wondering why your dead end up looking like pieces of meat I can tell you the clan has begun a trend of murdering random clan cats and outsiders and bringing Dawnstar the pelts. Her den looks morbid and I'm pretty sure some of the pelts are at your border because Dawnstar just won't quit hating on Twilightstar for...some reason? Needless to say I have not indulged in this new tradition, I've never been one for traditions anyway." she said. The loathing towards her own clan was clear in her voice.

So Rookie wasn't taking the bait. Dissappointing, tsk tsk tsk. Although she was insulting Deadmoon's originality, something that could NOT be allowed to stand. She would have to make sure to get her friend back for that little jab, not in a malicious way of course, but Deadmoon did not forgive or forget easily! And.....Shadowclan was being weird as usual, killing cats and stealing their pelts, yeesh! Just.......disgusting, and while Deadmoon lacked major attachment to most of the cats in her clan(she was loyal to the idea, Wolfie and Twilightstar, and that was pretty much it. Breezefeather's memory maybe. Yeah, that as well. But killing cats for decoration! That was very, very wrong. Not that there was much she could do about it though. If you can't change the world, hide under a rock and sing LALALALALA until someone else fixes things.

Oh. She....still hadn't responded. In what was an attempt at an airy, unbothered tone(although she didn't think Rookscreech would take too much offense) Deadmoon mewed Well, your clanmates are weird. Honestly not much would surprise me at this point, you guys'll be conversing with badgers next! Lies, but political stuff stunk. Getting in the ways of friendships and stuff. Although she HAD been the one to ask so she couldn't really blame Rookie for telling the truth. In an effort to move on, she inquired What's your favorite kind of prey? No ulterior motives, just a conversation starter, how DARE you suggest that! And no, not for poison. Just......information. For.......later. Probably. Shade.
