Darkness.

That was what greeted him, once the hazy dreams he had had ended.
It was certainly not the darkness that enveloped humans' houses at night- no, this was a darkness that challenged even a feline's naturally impressive light perception.

Where... where did they go? was his first thought.

The tom uncurled himself and rose shakily to sit- tail over paws- and look over fur almost as dark as the shadows in the dimlit gloom (though the white highlights dampened the effect).

"They wouldn't just..."

A paw stretched up to touch his brown leather collar.

"No, of course they would," the tom muttered in a raspy, sleepy voice.

He slowly waved his tail, puffed up his fur, and stretched his back, momentarily resembling the crooks of a nearby tree's branches- for he was in a forest, as his adjusting eyes and nose told him.

Then his fur slicked back down, as he flattened his ears in fear.

Nicht knew he was a long way from any house, right now.

Beetle sat in the trees above eyeing Jay as he interacted with the dreaming cat. He grimanced at how weak the cat sounded but let it slide. He was scared, and had every right to be. One mistake and Beetle would end his life. Simple.

He calmly walked out of the shadows and swatting jay harshly on the head. "I told you to interact calmly, and not to mention I'm here! Ugh, I'm surrounded by idiots." He took a glance at the cat and smirked. He sat down, untensed, and began licking himself. "Well, what are you waiting for? Attack me.

Before Beetle could even get started some cat yanked Nicht away. He kept his composure however it was evident on his face how annoyed he was getting. He fumed at how crowded it was becoming in the small clearing for a moment but quickly composed himself. He flicked his tail in Jay's direction "You sure have got a mouth on ya kid. Do you want another scratch? And you guys, how dare you to interrupt a dark forest training session. Would you like to try?" Beetle said standing. He shot a sharp glare at Jay before twisting around to the other cats. "How good are you at fighting?"


Dark forest. Was that the group, or the place? This dark forest, a place with no birds...
Nicht twitched his whiskers in worry. How was he going to eat, if he survived this?!

The tom couldn't keep his questions to himself any longer- and anyway, getting them over with would be helpful to him in the long run, right?

"Sorry but why... why are you training us?" he asked, nervously. "Is Dark Forest your group... or here, or...? J-just want to know, 'cause my turn was interrupted and all."

BBeetle finally fully unsheathed his claws losing his cool once and for all. He swiped at Nicht (he should at least get knocked into a tree or smth) He then snarled furiously and leapt at the other cats, grabbing one of them harshly by the scruff and launching them into the other cat. As he tossed them the fur and skin of there scruuf was ripped of by beetle and he spit it to the side (Whichever cat Beetle picked up, beetle did infact rip the fur of their scruff off. No 'my cat dodged him thoug-' nope. Sorry but Your cats are going to get hurt around beetle, but ill let you decide which cat got hurt) Beetle stood seething in the middle of the clearing, hoping, WAITING for some cat to attack him. He swerved his head around, looking for Jay. 'seems he had enough sense to run off' Bettle said (Gonna say he hid due to you not wanting him hurt much)

Nicht almost set off right then and there. He winced at the closeness of the other cat's tail to his face, and visibly tensed when they were checking him over.
"Of course not. Beetle's trying to kill us," he hissed back. "I don't know where you are from, or how far this forest extends, but I think it's best to run from the crazy fighting instructor."

Grimly, he watched the other cats in the clearing make their moves.
Sure, helping them would be noble- but survival came first for Nicht, and he didn't know the others.
And so he prepared himself to run.

Beetle seethed in anger, the aura surrounding him thick with bloodlust (My anime fans get that one) He leapt at Nicht claw raised to slice the cats face up, but suddenly a smell hit him, and he stopped in his tracks, claws inches from Nicht's face. An elegant black she-cat with white paws dropped down from the trees, padding her way confidently up to the rageful dead cat, wrapping her tail around his stilled paw. She battered away Angels attack effortlessly, only getting a small scratch on her hide. Beetle turned to look at his lover, any trace of anger on his face melting away. "Now calm down for a second dear, you haven't given them a proper chance to prove themselves! How about this........" She whispered her idea into his ear. Beetle reluctantly nodded and lowered his paw. She left a lick on his cheek before padding off. Beetle returned to his position in the middle of the clearing, visibly annoyed. "Alright Mousebrains, due to Her request I've got to let each of ya have a chance to hurt me. 1 on 1 fights ONLY. Starting with you" He said, his tail pointing to Angel.
