View Full Version : ShadowClan Punishment Games [Open]

Looming in the shadows underneath the massive rock that served as their meeting place, Dawnstar sat just inside her den, slowly blinking while observing the day-to-day life of her clanmates. The sun was high in the sky, only small beams could reach the murky heart of the ShadowClan territory. It was a warm day but not too hot, Dawnstar found it to be the perfect day for some carnage.
After licking her shallow wounds from the recent and disastrous attempt on her life, Dawnstar gathered her huge paws underneath her and lifted her tremendous weight, stretching as she rose, before finally stepping out of the darkness her den provided. "Warriors of ShadowClan, come with me!" Dawnstar yowled in a demanded if not slightly threatening tone. She didn't wait to see who obeyed her, everyone had better, instead, she made her way out the rocky path and out the entrance, leading the way to the Training Cliffs.
Jumping up onto a nearby boulder that elevated her, Dawnstar immediately got down to business. "I promised a punishment game and I dislike breaking my promises. For those of you who thought you could get away lazing around in ShadowClan instead of shedding your blood defending the clan, it's time to pay. Those of you who did not come and aid us with Dog threat will not have to spill each other's blood until I'm satisfied you given enough. I'm pairing you in groups, you will spar, claws unsheathed, and fangs bare. I don't want serious injuries that will result in moons of recuperation in Badgerscar's den. It'll be a waste. If you end up killing your opponent, you forfeit your life to me. If you hold back or don't take this seriously... I'm not sure what I'll do truthfully." Dawnstar tipped her head thoughtfully. "It won't be pretty, though. If you have any problems with any of this, leave ShadowClan and never return, we don't need cowards."
Dawnstar finished, turning her head to lick at her flank. Dawnstar was not at all concerned about how fighting each other might 'weaken' the clan as a whole. This would teach the cats to have some pain tolerance as well as remind them to put aside their petty feelings and come defend ShadowClan, as they swore to do, in the future. Ebonyfang was technically the only cat who could get out of this since he had other duties at the time, but Ebonyfang needed the extra training. Being a medicine cat has made him go softer than a kittypet. Dawnstar was constantly covered in fresh wounds from her brawls with whomever, she carried out her duties without a hiss of pain and continued to fight whoever dares challenge or trespass on her territory. The warriors could learn how to toughen up.
"Warriors who do not hear their name called, you are to come to gather here, I have a different task to assign you." The leader finished speaking, leaping down, and announced the groups for their sparring matches.
Below you'll find all the groups and opponents. I used a randomizer to match everyone. Please make sure to put your group number at the top of your posts when you start fighting. This will help me big time keep track of the progress and clear up confusion especially if you have multiple cats.
I'll be ending this on the 28th -29th. Dawnstar will be coming up with a second separate punishment for those who do not participate in this punishment. If your cats' partner does not show up within 24 hours after your post, mention me, Dawnstar will either find a new partner or allow them to take on the second punishment instead.
This is open for the rest of ShadowClan to view and spectate, but interference will result in exile or immediate death.
DO NOT PowerPlay in the fights it's not allowed, there are examples below if you don't know what that is.
Dawnstar leaped at Glaretail, tackled him to the ground, and scratched at his face, blinding him.

Darktiger didnt like where this was going she had been out hunting for the clan before to try to help keep fed the oens that was battling but fine if she had to shed some blood she would she didnt care. She thought this idea was ridculous espceilaly becausee she was still training an apprentice but fine whatever. At this point Darktiger thought it was frogdung that dawnstar was doing this to her after giving her an assignment that she was doing.

The more that Grimhound seemed to think that life was dull and boring in ShadowClan, the more Dawnstar seemed to prove him wrong. With a keen interest flashing in his amber eyes, the large tabby slunk over to where Dawnstar was, already knowing he would not be in the fighting group. Hopefully peaches would have something entertaining for him to do, otherwise he'd slip right back into the shadows. "My, my, an executioners game for fun? How do you do it as leader?" Sarcasm dripped like honey as the large tom chuckled, talons curing into the dirt below him as he took a seat next to the rock that Dawnstar had been on moments ago.
The match ups seemed fair to him, though he couldn't help but feel crestfallen that no apprentices were being dragged into this. The Clans youth that defied Dawnstar was alarming to Grimhound, and not for the first time did he wish he could toss them around like the rag dolls they were. Instead though, he sat quietly with no display of emotion on his face, only slightly narrowed eyes and a sadistic twisted grin.

Adderflower’s eyes gleamed in excitement. A fighting competition?! With claws unseated?! Fangs barred?! That must be a dream. She frowned momentarily when Dawnstar mentioned something about not doing enough for Shadowclan. That couldn’t be directed at her, especially as she considered herself one of the more loyal and skilled members.
The dark ginger she cat jumped to her paws looking for who would be her unfortunate battle partner. Her sharp eyes spotted Shadowmoon not to far away. She didn’t know the cat, never even spoken to her or noticed her for that matter.
That was fine though, it just meant that she had the element of surprise in her paws.
She padded up and gave a sly and cold look up and down. “Hello Moonshadow, I don’t believe we have met,” she cooded in a sickly sweet voice.

~Sootshadow~ Group 19
Sootshadow signed. Once again it was time for some more crazy events that he personally didn’t care for. Sootshadow considered himself a lover not a fighter, a rare breed for cats in Shadowclan. He figured he would give this his all but by no means was he motivated.
He got up and searched the group for Ebonyfang. He wasn’t sure how he felt having to fight a former medicine cat, something about that seemed wrong. Spotting him not too far away he made his way over and mewed a small greeting
“Hello Ebonyfang, I hope we’ll work well together.”

[ #6 - sedgeshade - shadowclan warrior ] > Tuftleap lightleaf [ open for interaction ]
Despite Dawnstar’s voice, especially in the form of an announcement, putting the warrior on edge, the way he dragged himself from the warriors den seemed nothing less than disinterested. Mostly, he genuinely was simply discontent; woken up from a nap, irritated, and now full of aggravating worry about what the leader could have in store regardless of knowing it almost certainly had nothing to do with him. The cream cat’s expression was one of tired distaste, seeming to glare at the leader and any cats unfortunate enough to end up meeting his gaze; would have been quite a bold move, if it hadn’t been purely out of the warrior’s exhaustion.
With a quiet series of huffs, he followed his clanmates, the vague sense of confusion beginning to ebb in and take the place of Sedgeshade’s prior nonchalance. It was… odd. Eerie, even. The trek began to bring the warrior to his senses a little more, quite obviously tired but with a pinch more awareness in the way his dark eyes scanned the area around him and his other clanmates.
Stopping with the rest, confusion truly did overwhelm him. The training cliffs?
Focused, at first, on his own questions, hearing the large she-cat spit the words ‘lazing around in camp’ was quite an effective way to yank the cream warrior’s attention away from anything else. Within a second he went from mildly concerned to unable to breathe, the moment Dawnstar uttered that call. Sedgeshade inhaled sharply beginning to listen a little bit more intently. Intently, focused, with an ever growing knot of horror beginning to rush through his veins with each word the molly added. The heartbeat in his throat dried it entirely, his mouth hanging open stupidly after the first announcement was finished and the leader, seemingly without care, groomed herself for a moment.
Names. His name was far enough down the list to make him freeze in anticipation, yet he had known exactly what the outcome would be from the start. No use hoping he’d be of the latter crowd while knowing he was truly one of the cowards. The warrior’s mind was blank enough that he couldn’t think, no matter how hard he searched, of which cat it was he was facing. Was he utterly done for, was there a sliver of chance he could worm his way out without too much bloodshed? Lightleaf… Lightleaf… he knew the name, but the face, along with any other coherent thought, was lost to him.

[ #7 - pikejaw - shadowclan warrior ] > Fawnhearted toadstripe [ open for interaction ]
The tom had been calm, trotting along with his fellows after the massive cat that was their leader, getting gradually more interested the closer the group made it to the cliffs. This had to be some sort of great training session; as lackluster- probably closer to poor- as his skills in battle were, Pikejaw had no qualms with such a large session. Perhaps something more well organized would do him some good; the worst to come could be making a fool of himself, and at this point in the young tom’s life, being subpar didn’t bother him all that deeply. His best was all he could do, clanmate opinions weren’t worth enough to feel wretched about.
The tabby’s chipper train of thought continued, eyes eager and wide with interest as Dawnstar began to speak, slowly, from her perch over the crowd.
As slowly as the molly had walked the massive group, Pikejaw felt his excitement slowly soak into the forest floor below him as she spoke- perhaps out of fear, he knew the games would hurt him should the wrong cat be assigned, but moreso as a result of the warrior’s guilt. Being under the impression that he was doing his all, even if his all wasn’t great, the warrior had mistakenly assumed he fell under Dawnstar’s good- no, no, neutral graces. A strange combination of crushing and terrifying, the tom’s muzzle hung with shame before the molly had even finished her first sentence.
The ominous message sent prickles of worry down the tom’s spine, licking his protruding teeth repeatedly in an attempt to settle his nerves as he awaited his assignment. For a mere moment, the idea he could simply be here for the secondary group crossed the tabby’s mind, but as rapidly as Pikejaw himself could shut it down, knowing he had missed the battle, he heard his name called over the group. Anticipation wasn’t the word for it, not at all, but the cat wasted no time in padding away, looking for his clanmate. A fair fight, hopefully, one where he could show that even if he wasn’t the best, he was still look to climb the rungs back to being a decent member of the clan. Effort mattered more than the end result, especially if Dawnstar had no interest in wounds, right? This was simply a way to atone.

Shadeblossom licked her pelt wearily. This was not her idea of 'fun'. But if it made Dawnstar happy, it would do.
Walking around the camp sniffing for any scent of Clawscar, she stopped to pluck a few pine needles from a nearby tree and cut them open for their scent. Throwing the remains on the ground, Shadeblossom broke off a branch and then twisted it until it became a circle. Dropping it on her neck, Shadeblossom kept scanning the camp for Clawscar

The tom wasn't excited to heal these cats though, but it was part of his job. Maybe he could get away with not helping those who aren't severely injured. Cats had a tongue to clean their less serious wounds.

Toadstripe held his breath during the announcements, he couldn't care less if he was selected, and he knew Owlspots could hold her own, but he was worried about his kits and his apprentice. They had grown into wonderful cats, but he would always worry about his kits. One group, then the next. There was his name, that wasn't necessarily a surprise.
He waited, ears pricked for his kits names, none were called. Toadstripe let out his breath and padded to his competitor. Toadstripe was a large muscular tabby, so he wasn't all that worried, he considered himself a pretty good fighter.
Dipping his head respectfully Pikejaw he dragged a paw over his ear and prepared to the coming battle. "Goodluck", was all he said.

Ravenpaw walked through the woods. They didn't really care about who was fighting or why, but they just wanted to see some fur fly and blood spilled. [ #6 - sedgeshade - shadowclan warrior ] > Tuftleap lightleaf [ open for interaction ]
The tom had just barely composed himself when a meow, just off to the side of his field of view, made him hiss and whirl around- not an aggressive cat, no, Sedgeshade was much more the verbal biter, but the stress of the situation had gotten to him very easily. The cream cat’s face fell, seeming to furiously debate between an apology and a scathing remark before settling on the simplest of simple, strained replies. “I’m. Yes. I’m Sedgeshade.” He muttered, clearly having hissed out of surprise, but not without a notably sharp edge to his tone. The warrior considered asking the molly in kind, but it seemed less talking would serve him better. Less distraction, less opportunity to unintentionally light his clanmate up with a poorly worded comment and get his own short pelt shredded.
What should he say? That he was ready? The stance that Sedgeshade hadn’t bothered to move from, freshly turned and defensive, seemed like notice enough that he knew exactly where this was headed; best to get it over with without any fluff, as calming his nerves with chat would bring him on even more of an emotional rollercoaster than this day had already been once the sparring started.
So, all the cat did was narrow his eyes, hackles raised but expression even while staring down the she-cat.

[ #7 - pikejaw - shadowclan warrior ] > Fawnhearted toadstripe [ open for interaction ]
Inquisitive at first, the young tom’s gradual realization of his predicament seemed to set in as the brawny cat approached him. At first, not focusing on who it was, it was easy to think about the possibility that Toadstripe was elsewhere; once it was clear the other tom was making a beeline, though, he felt a slight shiver roll down his spine. Though he wasn’t nervous enough to appear as such, Toadstripe certainly wasn’t the cat he wanted to see in such a situation- others who would be more evenly matched would be ideal, but he was a warrior! He could handle it! Eh, well, at least Dawnstar didn’t want brutality. He would be safe, possibly scathed, but safe. Dawnstar was strict enough, nobody would dare go so openly against her wishes, right? Right. Yes. Right.
Once the other nodded in acknowledgement, Pikejaw dipped his head in turn. “You as well.”
As calmly as the tabby had delivered his reply, he did find himself wondering where the next step would come into play. It was clear, without even needing to look, that many a cat had started the brawl already; should they count down? Simply go at it? His clanmate seemed like a courteous type, perhaps they’d be able to manage something more controlled and productive than the senselessness others seemed to display.

[ sedgeshade - shadowclan warrior ] > Tuftleap lightleaf [ open for interaction ]
“Ok” Lightleaf seemed unfazed by the cat’s suprise, “Shall we start sparring then?”

Seeming rude certainly wouldn’t get the tom far in this situation, and yet he ended up giving nothing short of a growl of a reply back to his clanmate. “I’d assume so.”
The instantaneous regret at escalating the situation would do nothing to undo how he said it, so despite Sedgeshade’s endless annoyance with his own talent of making things worse for himself, the tom did nothing to rescind the remark. Beneath his light pelt, the warrior’s muscles tensed up, steadying him in the event that Lightleaf made an especially sudden first move. He was much more a defensive fighter- (well, not a ‘fighter’ at all as he certainly got no enjoyment out of it)- so it was very unlikely he would dare start and risk exposing anything he didn’t want the she-cat to claw at.
Oddly silent, for a cat who seemed to be addicted to useless bickering, all Sedgeshade seemed to do was continue to stare the other warrior down in wait.

Smallstem exhaled a deep, shaky breath. What if I get seriously injured? The black and orange she-cat extended her claws. Smallstem attempted to look threatening but it appeared to be now working. The tortoiseshell cat felt as if thorns were pulling at her throat. Why was she so nervous? Why was Dawnstar making them fight like this? Should she speak up? But then she would be punished, possibly exiled. Lost in her thoughts, Smallstem suddenly felt claws piercing her skin.

dawnstars booming announcement was made, and soon after marshwolf found herself stalking along with the other warriors behind their massive leader, arriving at the training cliffs. when dawnstar began to spoke, perched up on a rock and staring down at them all, she felt her interest slowly grow. a mass training session; that was what it was, she realized with a snort once cats were being put into groups. as soon as the thought of shadowclan becoming bleak crossed her mind, dawnstar always fixed that.
some cats were jumping with joy at being assigned into groups, while the large she-cat simply scanned the crowd to look for her little worm. blue eyes landed on the fuzzy black cat not too far away, "blacksheep! over here, hurry." she called while beginning to walk to a more open spot, tail flickering and gesturing for blacksheep to follow her.

Spiderjump's stomach twisted in tight knots. This was -- StarClan, this was going to be bad, and all because when the dogs attacked he was stuck at camp nursing a sprained paw. He couldn't have helped even if he wanted to back then, but bringing that up to Dawnstar? No thank you. Spider had a feeling that 'You should pull me from these weird punishment games cause when you needed me, my paw hurt' wasn't gonna cut it.
Slender claws punctured the dirt as Spiderjump obediently unsheathed them. He scanned the gathered cats for his opponent, yellow eyes flickering and breathe, idiot, get a hold of yourself. It's not just you out here.
Oh -- was that her? ... Wait. Nightsong didn't know how to fight? Didn't she train to get her warrior name? Spider wondered (slightly impressed) how she slipped out of the requirements for final assessment, but there was no time to ask her secrets now. Panic thrummed in his chest like a caged bird in the form of his palpitating heart. He...didn't want to hurt anyone, let alone a cat who couldn't even begin to match him!
Thinking quickly, Spider turned his back to Dawnstar, looking at Nightsong and flashing her a covert smile. "Just try to pretend with me. It's easy - I do it all the time! - basically a professional." Spiderjump winked - then his volume lowered even more to avoid detection from other cats. Did his voice shake, or was that just in his head? "Here's the plan. You aim for some non-lethal spots and get me, okay?" Why in StarClan's name am I volunteering for this?? Spider's paws were quivering. He pressed them firmly into the ground to make them seem stable. "I can take it, so don't worry. I'll put on a show, you beat me, and then we'll get out of this."

Sensing the attack almost, Glaretail staggered to the side but quickly had his balence restored. Unseathing his claws, Glaretail slashed the cat on his chest area, hard enough so that hopefully, he would stagger like Glaretail had.
Goldenclaw grunted as he was struck, stumbling back a few pawsteps. Not bad, but it would take more than a little scratch to do him it. Ignoring the blood trickling lightly down his chest, the golden tabby swiped at Glaretail's eyes before ducking to bite the legs, hoping to at least catch him off guard, or at least get him to stagger again.

She unsheathed her claws, and started to scan the training area for her training partner. I would be glad, to fight for my leader, even if it is just for entertainment... ThistleHollow wondered if SHE would sustain any injuries. If I do, then oh well. ThistleHollow sensed Dawnstar would be mad if she didn't move and start fighting soon, so she moved forward, her claws ripping up the ground with every step. Meeklein

Falconfeather glared at Dawnstar, knowing that she wouldn't see. Despite Falconfeathers fury, she was scared of her nonetheless. First Tigerpaw, than this? Shadowclan really is going to the dogs. The dark brown tabby stared across the clearing, looking for Meadowbee among the assembled cats. She had seen her before, but had never thought to well, stalk her. She just seemed like the average warrior, nothing special, nothing different. Boring.
"Meadowbee," she called, "get over here." In all honesty, Falconfeather was nowhere near as confident as her voice sounded. This would the first time she would fight a cat seriously. She had never felt blood drip down her claws. Falconfeather hadn't quite known how to sign up for the dog attack- not that she would have if she had- and she was too young to fight in any battles before that. I hope she doesn't know me. The fact that Falconfeather had mentored a traitor did not make her popular with the clan, well, those who knew her. It would be better if Meadowbee didn't.
(She can fight, just this would be her first claws unsheathed battle. Before it was only training.)

The tom ducked his head when he saw Lightleaf hunker down, attempting to brace himself even more despite already preparing as much as he well could in the short time between seeing his clanmate and fighting her. Having a plan would have been ideal. Alas, going from mindlessly tired to mindlessly worried hadn’t granted the warrior much time to think through anything past the simple concept of ‘don’t get hurt, but don’t run’. In the last moment, the stunning realization that moving out of the way of the molly’s claws would probably be helpful crossed Sedgeshade’s blank mind; unfortunately the idea showed up too late, it seemed, as when he finally attempted to dart out of the way, the other warrior still landed square on his hind end.
No hiss left the tom’s mouth, the cream cat had at least prepared to be bowled over, but despite his silence he was immediately reactive upon being tossed to his side so easily. Sedgeshade wormed one of his legs from under the molly, kicking back out as hard as he could in the hopes of giving her a swift knock in the face and stand back up once she was distracted. Aiming where he couldn’t see was difficult at best, but the warrior hadn’t much else to try.

Scrambling to his feet, the cat narrowed his eyes and steadied himself once more, finally able to breathe once more without the worry of claws on his underbelly feeling so immediate. The pinpricks in his leg stung, that much was true, but there was no debate that they were easily better than clawmarks down his side. Abandoning the fight was guaranteed to be a wretched mistake, but, at least to Sedgeshade, throwing himself at the other cat right away would prove to be just as poor a choice. How long had it been since the cat had properly fought anything? Hunted for more than an hour? The warrior found, quite quickly, that reminding himself of how rusty his skills were would only distract him more; even if practice wasn’t on his side in this, luck seemed to be. For now, at least.
Back on his paws, a safe….ish distance back, and if need be he could attempt a counterattack at some point to show he wasn’t simply avoiding the fight.
Euch… the reminder that Dawnstar- anyone, for that matter- could be watching this sent cold shivers down Sedgeshade’s back as he thought about it, eyes locking more intently on Lightleaf as he settled on attempting a proper defense when the molly made her next move. Fur spiked up, head bowed once more, the light-coloured tom flicked the tip of his tail rapidly in a clear sign of dreaded anticipation.

[ #6 - sedgeshade - shadowclan warrior ] > Tuftleap lightleaf [ open for interaction ]
The urge to dart away once more was overwhelmingly strong, adrenaline finally letting the tom think somewhat clearly about his next moves. What he knew for certain was that he was nowhere near strong enough to plunge a whole cat off course with a swipe, even fully jumping up to grapple at her would almost definitively end with the warrior pushed back in a tangle of limbs; that was the one thing Sedgeshade needed to avoid at all costs. That, and bolting. Two things he needed to avoid at all costs.
Bracing himself against the instinct to dodge until the she-cat came within reach, the warrior crouched down, buried his claws in the dirt, and screwed his eyes shut. As soon as he felt the air move in Lightleaf’s wake, the cat propelled himself upwards on his hind legs as hard as he could muster, downturned head about to collide with the she-cat’s chest. It was easy for Sedgeshade to tell the only way he could throw his opponent off was with all of him; he wasn’t a large cat, or a particularly well-muscled one, but if he could just avoid the gleaming claws, shove the molly off balance before she could use her hind legs on him, and not hurt himself in the process… it should give the tom time to steel himself while she was down.
However, this was all hoping. On top of that and quite unfortunately, Sedgeshade was beginning to see the flaws in his plan- most glaringly, how much throwing himself at an already leaping target would probably hurt. Realizing this after launching off was the furthest thing from ideal, but it wasn’t like the warrior could do much to stop the impact now.

[ #6 - sedgeshade - shadowclan warrior ] > Tuftleap lightleaf [ open for interaction ]
It was surprising that the tom had managed to avoid the she-cat’s claws, the cat heaving a immense sigh of relief as he followed his clanmate’s tumble to the ground. Honestly, he hadn’t expected to get away utterly unscathed, let alone successfully knocking his opponent down for even a few short moments- it was nearly enough to make him look awestruck.
The underlying situation got the best of the warrior’s mind not long after, though, the distressing reminder that he was in Dawnstar’s mental group of disposable warriors not allowing for much giddiness. That, and the ache in his neck and vague sense that the clearing was spinning. Sedgeshade blinked tightly, attempting to rid himself of the disorientation while still keeping watch on Lightleaf as she gradually righted herself in turn. A winded huff blew through the tom’s nose, followed by a long, low growl as he caught his breath and once again locked his copper eyes on the molly.
As always, the cream cat hesitated before striking the warrior himself, knowing that all the opportunity in the world lay ahead of him to attack, and yet worrying about his ability to make it back out unharmed. Could he just dance like this forever, though? With a sharp pang of nervousness, the cat realized his leader hadn’t specified when to call the matches; clearly, they ended when there was a victor, not a truce. Sedgeshade felt himself flood with dread, understanding now that he was on the path to tiring himself out with how much he dragged his feet. It was either him or Lightleaf who would call the match once one of them was sufficiently beaten; not after some time limit.
Cream fur heaved rapidly as the cat’s breath began to quicken once more, his relief over a single successful move quickly becoming a distant memory. With a sharp inhale, the tom bolted forward, aiming an unsheathed paw for the other warrior’s forelegs.

Lightleaf leaped back. This is stupid! Why are we fighting against each other?! We’re clanmates! We’re not supposed to be trying to tear each other apart! She thought, “Isn’t there some way one of us can just win and this can be over with?” She meowed at Sedgeshade before swiping at him, purposely missing

Adderflower circled Moonshadow, awaiting the she cat’s response. Her tail lashing, the dark ginger cat kept low to the ground, her form tense and cooled, as if she was to spring at any second. She slid her claws out and felt them dip into the earth.
“Why don’t we start?” she purred in a sickly sweet voice.
Oh, how she couldn’t wait to get her claws wet with blood, it had been a while.

[ #6 - sedgeshade - shadowclan warrior ] > Tuftleap lightleaf [ open for interaction ]
As hard soil collided with the cat’s jaw, all he could feel was his chest tightening in panic- no clue where Lightleaf was, dust in his eyes… not a lovely combination given the situation.
Scrambling upwards with his fur sticking out wildly, the cat unceremoniously spat the gravel in his mouth out before trying to clean his face as hurridly as possible. Put simply, the cat was in quite a state of disarray by the time he opened his eyes, just in time to see his opponent moving to strike and having no damned clue what to do about it. The molly’s words hit his ears just before her paw swung at the air beside his muzzle, quite a good thing given how Sedgeshade seemed to have no thought of moving out of her way. After the swipe had been taken, he staggered back in a delayed dodge, standing still for a few moments as the other warrior’s question processed. Oh thank StarClan.
“…possibly?” The tom finally seemed to come back to his senses, attempting a somewhat sloppy fake swipe back at the other to buy himself some time to think. It was nerve-wracking to scheme going under Dawnstar’s nose in the midst of a clanwide psuedo-battle, but it, unfortunately, was the best option. Better than agonizing over whether he’d face the leader or his clanmates’ wrath, at least. “Small injuries, we’ll need small injuries-” Trying to stay active and appear like the match was going as usual, the tom stalked around his opponent, a little bit winded from his… what, third clumsy scramble back upright from an uncoordinated move? “- but as long as we’re careful, it shouldn’t be suspicious. If it must be, I’d take being the loser over genuinely fighting more any day.”
Perhaps the way the cream cat looked from side to side after speaking only served to make him look conspicuous, but it seemed there was enough action for him and Lightleaf to go unnoticed. Hopefully, at least.

If you don't want Snowberry to participate just vm me, don't wanna spam mention you <3 ]
Milktooth was definitely nervous to follow Dawnstar to the Training Cliffs, she honestly expected some elaborate plan to 'get rid' of the weaker warriors in ShadowClan. Milktooth hadn't been particularly fond of Icestar, but Dawnstar was just quite a surprise for Milktooth when she returned to the clan. Upon returning she would have much prefered to go right back to the nursery and help out with all the little ones, especially without... Littlepaw there to occupy any of her time.
She shook the thoughts out of her head, she wasn't a queen right now, she was a warrior and warriors follow the word of their leader. Even if that leader is commanding all her warriors brawl with tooth and claw. "Punishment?" The fawn warrior grumbled under her breath, she didn't think this was a very good idea but she needed to stay in ShadowClan right now, being out on her own again just wasn't an option.
She'd been paired up with Snowberry, she wasn't that much younger than Milktooth was she? But the problem was Snowberry was small, was this really the best pairing even if it was a punishment? Sure, Milktooth's fighting skills were rusty but no one could deny that size difference put Milktooth at some sort of advantage here!
Considering she'd only been back a moon, she took it upon herself to find the white she-cat, she didn't expect to be easily recognized after so much time away. "Snowberry?" She called out, stepping out of the group to stand out a bit.

Once he had finished cleaning his face, he crept down into a fighting stance. He was obviously bigger than this but his intention wasn't to hurt him badly.
The brown tabby leapt forward, attempting to scratch the 'enemies' face.
(Sorry I forgot to respond! Don't worry about power playing, whatever moves you want can land and our approved by me, the only rule that we agreed on was no serious injuries and the final moves were pre-planned)

[So it slipped my mind to explain my thought process about this punishment event. Since I've gotten this question more than once, I know a lot of the cats called were recently created or weren't around during the dog fight, in my head, that's an OC problem. Because this is a clanwide punishment for warriors, regardless of how recently your cat or cats have been made, they are considered a part of ShadowClan and have always been a part of ShadowClan, and thus in Dawnstar's mind, they would have been around to participate in the dog fight but did not. That is why they are being punished. I don't believe it would make sense if it wasn't done this way. I know that your cat wasn't created during the event, Dawnstar doesn't, your cats are just cowards and slackers to her. This is purely an OC and IC difference. I'm sorry if this doesn't seem particularly fair OC, but IC it made more sense to me to do this way.]

Strange, Dawnstar would have sworn that more cats would have thrown a fit about seeming baseless violence. How disappointing, no one wanted to challenge her anymore. Not that she could fault them, she wouldn't want to- wait- scratch that yes she would. It would be easier to pick out flaws and better her fighting style if she could go against herself. Alas, such a thing was nothing more than a dream.
One ear twisted itself over to Grimmy when the tom showed up, his little quip was cute but ignored in favor of keeping an eye on the fights. She did turn her head when Badgerscar showed up, good, he could go with the mongrel. He probably should stay here and learn how to actually patch up these morons, but so long as the wounds weren't too big, she could handle it. The last thing Dawnstar wanted was Badgerscar getting complacent and soft serving as the medicine cat. It would be good to give him so action here and there.
Spiderjump, her glare paused for a moment on the cat, she tipped her head to one side, unsheathing her claws, before allowing her eyes to continue to roam once more. She did feel someone's angry glare, by the time she found who she thought was the culprit, their gaze was gone. A small smile pulled at the corner of her lips, weak. Too many are holding back, or are they simply that inexperienced? Dawnstar scowled, a low growl rumbling from her chest. Perhaps she should organize a raid on the rabbits.... soon. Far too many cats have never experienced the heat of a real battle. What it was like to fight for your life.
Lightleaf, Nightsong, Sedgeshade, and so on. How could these cats call themselves warriors of ShadowClan. Perhaps she needed to double-check her clanmates' capabilities, either kill and toss out the ones that weren't worth her time, and focus on intensifying the training of the few that showed potential. For a molly who fought day in and day out, partially hunting for her next fight, it was hard to fool her eyes. They could take this seriously and be done with it, but she supposed if they wanted to suffer so be it.
Her attention was drawn over to Marshwolf at the she-cat's call. "Blacksheep," she hissed softly. Yet another slacker. "Alright, Marshwolf, come and sit with me here. If we don't find you a new partner, I'll find something else for you. For now, you can help me keep an eye on the dumbasses who think pretending is going to worm their way out of this." Dawnstar told Marshwolf before glancing at the hound out of the corner of her eye.
"Since your here, I'll let you lead the patrol." Dawnstar didn't see Finchwhisker and maybe it was better this way. She'd rather give this task to someone she had absolute trust in. "WindClan hasn't paid their debt, they owe ShadowClan. So we'll be taking what's owed to us. I want our borders pushed up five tree lengths. You can take Redshrike, Badgerscar, Ashenhowl, Frogfang, Fiercefire, Ravenpaw, Brackenpaw, Berrypaw, Gingerpaw, and Wolfwhisper." Dawnstar glanced at the mongrel with an inquisitive glint in her golden orbs. "Keep an eye on the last one, I don't trust him, do as you please if he steps out of line. And if you catch any bunnies around you should bring me their pelts, I could use new bedding for my nest."

Ears perked up as Dawnstar's voice called his name, though he could sense what was coming. A patrol? To see the bunnies? How convenient for Grimhound, who simply flexed his long claws, retracting them from the soil and back into his paws as he stood. This was a task that was perfect, and while he would've preferred to do it alone he could see the reasoning in bringing others along with him as well. "I'll pick out the nicest pelt just for you," the brown tabby hummed with a wink as he slipped away, seamless like Dawnstar's own shadow. This would be fun.
There were a few cats she had named that...irked him. Wolfwhisper for one, though receiving Dawnstar's orders that he could do as he pleased with the tom if he set a toe out of line made his lips curl into a grin. He'd keep an eye on the squirrel, and had no problem setting him straight if need be. His apprentice had been assigned as well, though Grimhound didn't bother to look for her now. She'd either follow or she wouldn't - the hound didn't care one way or another.
"You heard her," the warrior growled, tail curling as amber eyes swept around the clearing, scanning for the cats she had listed. "If you want to keep both of your pretty ears on your heads, best to follow me now. I won't be waiting around." And with that, Grimhound turned and vanished amongst the undergrowth, giving a last flick of his tail as the only indication for those who had been assigned to follow him.

Spiderjump blinked at Nightsong with wide-eyed surprise. He had no clue why this she-cat was laughing at a time like this, but - whatever! Who was he to judge? Just as long as she played along it would be fine. StarClan, his plan absolutely sucked. Fear threatened to seize Spider with every pound, pound, pound of his fluttering heart.
Turning to catch Dawnstar's attention, the grey-black tom barked out a half-manic laugh. "I'll tear you to shreds, Nightsong! Not too much -- our leader doesn't want to clean up any bodies -- but just enough." Is that how crazy cats sounded? Oh well, too late to work on his impression now. Spiderjump faced his opponent and winked at an angle Dawn couldn't see before baring long, slender fangs.
Giving no further warning--mainly cause he couldn't keep up this act if he stood still one beat more--Spiderjump lunged at Nightsong, back legs springing power into the motion. He really, really hoped she would stick to the plan! ....Deep down Spider hoped he would stick to it, too; as much as he pretended to be brave he wasn't, he wasn't. Such a dim little spider he was. Doetuft would've hated these punishment games. Would Talonstone? Sparkpaw could almost see her mentor's sharp eyes appraising her from some far off corner, but whenever she turned to look he was hidden, always hidden. Coward.
Maybe her sense of danger was compromised. That little ringing in her ear meant to signal escape now if Spark drifted too close to a predator's jaws? She didn't hear it anymore -- else she might not have padded up to Dawnstar during the most bloody, senseless battles of Sparkpaw's short time alive.
"I want to go on the patrol too," Spark announced, blue eyes hardened into chips of ice. She was hungry for something unknown to her, ravenous and ready. "I want to be stronger. Send me. Or pick a partner for me to join these games. When you fought the dogs I was far away, using wits and wiles to escape from twolegs; I should've sunk my claws into them instead. Make me stronger."
Somewhere inside, Sparkpaw's brain berated her series of witless actions. Was this the stupid behavior of a cat caught in the claws of grief? Must be. She just couldn't find it in herself to care, couldn't find it in herself to stop.

with a simple nod and a few strides, marshwolf was sitting along side dawnstar. "alright," she responded, listening in on who was going on the patrol for a few heartbeats. she didn't trust wolfwhisper? that was interesting-- her son had always been a bit of a coward, but she didn't think it was enough to make suspicion rise in the leader. cowards were shockingly common in shadowclan, surprising to the warrior herself.
perhaps she'd have a little chat with wolfwhisper later. what was more amazing than a chat between a mother and her son?
focusing on the task she was given, she observed the groups with such a judgemental stare, it was like she was criticizing everything they did. icy blue gaze slowly shifted over a grey-black tom, narrowing her eyes at the small show spiderjump gave. he even let out a maniacal laugh that, in her opinion, sounded a bit half-assed. a small, unimpressed snort came from her as she watched spiderjump leap at nightspot. of course, who was she to judge?

Smallstem couldn't hear if any paw steps were following her, the blood roaring in her small black ears was too loud.

What the Dark Forest?! ThistleHollow heard the cat, but was not quick enough to evade her. She tried to shake her off, but instead, got a few tufts of fur torn off of her back. ThistleHollow turned her head around and bit down hard on the cats left paw, hoping maybe Moonbirch would let go and ThistleHollow could land a few more good bites and scratches.
Moonbirch yowled and rolled off of Thistlehollow, only to jump back up onto her face and bite down on her upper neck. She slapped her in the face and quickly jumped back off to evade any oncoming attacks and grabbed the sharpest stick she could find. Your move, but either way I'm going to make sure you suffer much much more than I do. This will be fun. I've been waiting for a moment like this since Starclan rained down hell and ejected me from my mothers womb! Moonbirch laughed.

Group #9 Meadowbee
Meadowbee looked up at Dawnstar's call, and a she felt a sigh escape her as she got up and followed Dawnstar to the training cliffs.
There, she sat down and looked around, frowning as she heard that they would be shedding each other's blood for not participating in the Dog battle. But she hadn't even known there was one! She had never heard of it until now. And she had been explicit in shedding blood when the traitors had tried taking Dawnstar's life while she slept, the cowards! And yet she was going to be punished...for something she hadn't even known about. Typical.
But as she pouted about the situation, she felt a glimmer of fear creep into her chest. Would Dawnstar pit her against Wildfire? Meadowbee couldn't even fathom herself hurting her best friend, the cat that drove her heart wild and her head full of clouds. That alone terrified Meadowbee more than anything.
But as she listened, she let out a breath of relief; she was up against some cat named Falconfeather. Meadowbee wouldn't really feel too bad about that...at least not too bad. But to fight Clanmates with their own claws and teeth? Well what was Dawnstar expecting? Some cat would indeed get seriously hurt. This wasn't even a training drill. It was a sick punishment, and one that would only weaken ShadowClan. How could she expect her warriors to fight properly if a battle happened, and they were still recovering from wounds they didn't even need to have in the first place?
But she knew better than to speak up or protest this crazy punishment. Instead, Meadowbee snarled out for her opponent. "Falconfeather!" The large maine coon tabby yowled, "Let's get this over with..." She cast her eyes around, looking for Wildfire...
Group #17 Shadowmoon
What?! Shadowmoon felt anger rise in her chest, and she narrowed her eyes up at Dawnstar. This is how the tyrant of ShadowClan treated her clan? By shedding her own cats blood and making them savage each other for her own sadistic form of punishment?
"No." Shadowmoon growled out, standing up to face Dawnstar. "You are weakening us! Every time a cat sheds their blood for you, you repay it with more blood needlessly shed. And for what? We are despised by the other Clans, and you are despised by your own warriors. If there is any true loyalty left, it is to the concept of ShadowClan, to the dream that it will be whole and unified again. But these cats don't deserve to be wounded; You can't expect your entire Clan to be ready to battle at a moment's notice, if you want your kits and queens fed, your camp defended, your borders protected. You are selfish and cruel, Dawnstar." Shadowmoon's voice never quivered, and she only had a cold glare in her bright green eyes as she looked up at Dawnstar.
"Loyalty is more than being called upon for battle at a moment's notice. Loyalty is providing food and safety for your clan, to keep them content and happy, protected. You are the most disloyal cat in this entire Clan Dawnstar, and I refuse to be a part of it any longer," Shadowmoon sneered, and she glared at Adderflower, "Keep them to yourself, fool." With a lash of her tail, Shadowmoon left the training cliffs. She was no longer going to live in this desecrated Clan full of mindless sheep, cowering or sucking up to the wolf that seemed to only want to tear them apart from the inside.
//Shadowmoon is leaving the Clan. IC this is bull, and OOC this is bull.

Adderflower watched as Smokemoon made her exit, a smirk on her face. Surely Dawnstar would not simply allow such insults to go unpunished. The warrior put on a brave display of disloyalty but she should have known better. Adderflower brought her gaze to Dawnstar, a questioning look ringing out towards the leader.
“Should I kill her for such a performance Dawnstar?” She asked cheerfully. She would get her claws bloody one way or another.

Falconfeather nodded she couldn't trust her voice to stay smooth. As she walked over to Meadowbee, she closed her eyes once, shoving down her doubts along with her eyelids. Looking around, she could see some had already begun to fight and, interestingly, some where purposefully missing. Meadowbee seemed confident, unafraid, but from the way she looked around as though looking for someone, she did appear to be worried about fighting. Not me though, someone else.
Not knowing how to begin, Falconfeather dropped into a crouch and started to slink silently across the ground. Where to start? She didn't want to actually hurt her opponent, she wasn't sure if she could while trying. Her gaze locked on Meadowbees right shoulder before sliding over to her left leg. Suddenly, she leaped at the shoulder, wrenching her eyes away from the leg and slashing out with her claws.

Brackenpaw allowed a smirk to form upon her face, and she panned her gaze over the patrolmates named. Most, were fine. There were some, though... Wolfwhisper she had her doubts about. More than doubts, was what she suspected, an internal warning of the traiturous actions to come. That was just her gut. Redshrike and Grimhound- Dawnstar's favorites, if you could call it that- were on the patrol as well. How either tom managed to weasel their way into the group Dawnstar hated the least was impressive, and Brackenpaw had not the slightest hint of where she stood. No matter, now, though.
The bunnies would most likely get upset, and then they would try and reason with the ShadowClan patrol, but pfft, it would never work! BunnyClan owed ShadowClan, for helping their precious Bunnystar survive kitting, those little hairballs they called kits as well. Maybe it was a reminder that some cat would have to bring up.
She wouldn't give Dawnstar a little speech to try and impress her, because that would make her look like a featherbrain.

Frankly, Wildfire was too complacent to notice that what was taking place here was completely typical for Dawnstar. She had a lot of faith in her Leader even if some thought it was misplaced; hell, she even looked up to Dawnstar a bit. But she felt guilt gnaw on her bones when Dawnstar called her up to be punished. During the conflict with the dogs, Wildfire had been severely injured. One of her forelegs had been broken--she couldn't walk well, much less fight without risking the injury becoming worse.
Wildfire blinked suddenly as she realized Ebonyfang was still the Medicine Cat back then. Ebonyfang had helped with the broken leg, but now ShadowClan's Medicine Cat was Badgerscar. Wildfire had yet to see him for anything and spent seconds wondering how he was learning when her opponent's name was called.
Thank StarClan it wasn't Meadowbee--hearing she was up against Goldenstrike made her let out a relieved breath. She didn't know Goldenstrike well and, while some cats would consider her affinity for violence sick, Wildfire was always down to shred somebody at Dawnstar's entertainment. Though she did prefer keeping her sparring fun with sheathed claws and not too much biting. Her paws were for hugging, not gouging out eyes!
Wildfire looked over to Meadowbee who seemed to have just challenged her opponent, Falconfeather. She gave her best friend the sweetest nod, her eyes filled with an emotion Wildfire herself before turning to Goldenclaw.
Without another word, she launched herself at Goldenclaw and attempted to bowl him over to maintain the advantage of surprise. Her eyes had gone from caring to full of determined fire in a fraction of a second and she didn't intend to give Goldenclaw a chance to dodge at all if she could avoid it. This is what Wildfire was good at; it was what she trained for.
Dawnstar was Wildfire's Leader and Meadowbee motivated her to be strong. She was a loyal ShadowClan Warrior and she would not accept failure or defeat.

Shadepaw sat on the branch of an oak tree watching everyone else partake in their punishment, he knew he didn't have to be there but he wanted a front row seat to the drama that would unfold before his eyes. There was also the possiblity that some cats wouldn't be too happy with the idea of sparing with unsheathed claws and would probably go against Dawnstar's order, which in all honesty was something the blue eyed apprentice would love to happen, he found the idea of battle to be satisfying and fighting a fellow clan mate would probably be just as fun as a cat from another clan.

And if you catch any bunnies around you should bring me their pelts, I could use new bedding for my nest."
spade [if you'd like I can check with Moony, I think she's sending out a patrol that can meet and cause a skirmish there]
Nightsong looked up at dawnstar. She did not want to dissapoint her. So she crouched down to see what her oppoment's stratigey. Her ears perked up. There was somthing in the forest. How was she the only one who knew!? She had to warn dawnstar. She ran up to her leader and appeared behind her. She kept her head up as dawnstar turned around. Ravenpaw pricked their ears at the sound of their name being called. Ooh, a patrol? For bunnies? Sounded more fun than watching cowards who didn't want to fight, fight each other. They hopped off their branch and joined the rest of the patrol.
"Hi," they said to Grimhound. "This'll be more interesting. The cowards are boring, it's obvious they don't really care." They were definitely only fighting because they had to, not because they actually felt any shame for chickening out of the dog fight. You didn't participate. Yeah, because I was practically a kit then. And I redeemed myself by fighting the buzzards. The skull in my nest is proof of that.
If they came across any bunnies, Ravenpaw figured they wouldn't have a problem. Yeah, you shouldn't underestimate the enemy and all that, but they had a few tricks up their sleeve that was sure to at least provide a support role for their teammates.

Though now she was nervous, how was she gonna go about this? She didn't want to approach Dawnstar, she was terrifying, to say the least. The fawn she-cat padded away from the group of brawling cats, approaching the ShadowClan leader slowly. "Well... Um- Snowberry doesn't seem to be here..."

Dawnstar flashed a fleeting smile in the mongrel's direction, he seemed relatively pleased with the task. As members of his patrols gathered behind him, it was nice to see that so many of them eager to deal with the bunnies. Her eyes were drawn back to the fighting, noting a few of the cats getting a bit rough and at least two of the former members running off. Good riddance. She heard Shadowmoon's words, but they didn't phase her, it was the same old speech every coward gave her. Dawnstar was a tyrant blah, blah, blah, if they were trying to hurt her feelings they needed to come up with some better insults or something.
"Leave them," She called to Adderflower after she called for a pursuit. "They want to run, so be it, Shadowmoon and Smallstem are dead to ShadowClan, should anyone spot these rogues upon our territory they are to be killed on sight." Dawnstar decided she was simply going to start denouncing the traitors and weaklings then and there. She'd let it be known to her clan that any cat erasure from ShadowClan will never be discussed or mentioned by name again, and if brought up by the other clans, will be referred to as “the rogue” in the past tense. It works just fine - since Clan cats are suited only to living in groups, the cat might as well be dead anyway. Without their name being honored by the clan, they most likely are refused entry into StarClan, of course, unless they clan-hopped but by then Dawnstar couldn't bring herself to care about rogues.
"Adderfang, your new partner is Milktooth. Redfang, since you've chased off a rogue, you've more than redeemed yourself in my eyes. You can decide if you're up for it, Marshwolf needs a new partner." Dawnstar knows she said this was a punishment, but she was relatively pleased with the outcome of this. Two rogues have already been chased off, and some of her cats she could learn from by watching. Although, a particular pair were causing some problems.

Before she could go sort it out, Sparkpaw called for her attention. This one served as an apprentice one of her favorites before he vanished, Dawnstar never liked how she stuck around Batblind, may her soul be forever tortured in the Dark Forest, but Talonstone had a darkness to him that Dawnstar could have used to turn him into one of the greatest cats in ShadowClan. That tom could have been seated beside her mutt, bird, and badger if only he had remained loyal to his clan. Perhaps his former apprentice will take his spot as a replacement.
"You want to get stronger, good, go catch up with that mongrel, tell him I said you could join them. I don't normally just let anyone take on important matters like these, but I admit your former mentor was one to admire. If it weren't for that little flaw, he could have served as one of ShadowClan's fiercest warriors, you might have what it takes to step in his pawprints, or not. Moonbirch and Thistlehollow seemed to be having some strange drama going on. That would need to be dealt with at once, regardless of their so-called "love" Dawnstar did note that they seemed to have ripped each up pretty well. She was pretty certain that she said she didn't want any fatal wounds! Why couldn't cats listen to simple directions? Now she was going to have to get up and deal with that. Ugh!
She found Thistlehollow bleeding out, Moonbirch appeared carrying herbs with her. Dawnstar gave a low and threatening hiss, she had better not have taken those from the medicine den. She was pretty certain her medicine cats kept stock on the herbs they had, stealing without asking could be problematic and harmful to the clan as a whole. "You two, I have half a mind to throw you off the cliffside." She spat out aggravatingly before padding over to Thistlehollow to look over her wounds. As Moonbirch started to walk off, Dawnstar gave a challenging growl.
"Are you just going to leave her to die like this? What a terrible mate." She really did want to grab Thistlehollow by the scruff and toss her over the cliffside, was the time and effort she'd have to put in in an attempt to keep her a life worth it? Nope, not at all. She shouldn't even bother with this two.

Oh sorry for the confusion! Basically Moonbirch likes Thistlehollow and she tried saving her by taking herbs from the medicine cats den, but then she remembered that she was being watched so she quickly walked away in order to protect Thistlehollow for any trouble she was about to be in for the damage seen on Moonbirch. She hopes that Dawnstar wasn't close enough to see her torn off ear or leg scratches.

Adderfang watched in surprise as Dawnstar let the cats go. That was it? They were getting off that easy?
She swallowed a growl and turned towards Milktooth. At least she still had a chance to bloody her paws.
Another worthless warrior whose face she never memorized. It didn’t really matter who she would be fighting, she was simply itching to draw blood.
“Milktooth,” she called in a singsong voice. “Come out come out wherever you are.” She felt giddy with the idea of finally sparing, or in her mind, letting lose.

Gingerpaw sat back and watched as the pairs teamed up, claws unsheathed and tails lashing. So Dawnstar's punishment for the slackers was having them fight each other. She thought with nothing but a flick of her ear. It was truly a brilliant idea (not surprising at all, it did come from her dear leader) but something felt... off. Her stomach rumbled with uneasiness as she observed many of her clanmates prepare to fight one another. Some were trembling in their pelts, while others looked ready to taste blood. They're nothing but no good lazy kits. They deserve this. She told herself, giving her body a quick shake. If this order came from Dawnstar's mouth, it was the right thing.
Grimhound's threating call made her jump, her head shooting over to the dark tom. Speaking of uneasy. Grimhound scared the daylights out of her. Always looming in the shadows, amber eyes gleaming with unknown intentions. Always the first to jump at an opportunity to harm someone, even if it was one of his own. She would NEVER do anything to get on his bad side. Didn't want to risk ending up like Duskfern.
She scurried over to the forming patrol, more than excited that Dawnstar had chosen her to head over to Windclan. Those bunnies deserved every bit of pain that was coming to them. She sent a quick nod to Grimhound, not daring to look into his eyes.

Maybe Milktooth shouldn't have pointed out the lack of Snowberry, she should've feigned ignorance. Because despite her size, she was not a talented fighter. Faced with Adderfang, she truly realized how terrifying a bloodthirsty look could be because the she-cat she was now pinned against made her blood run cold.
Her claws were unsheathed without her even realizing, her instincts kicking in as fear took over. She really didn't wanna do this but how could she refuse when she just saw two of her clanmates chased off forever?! She needed to be here! "I-I'm right here, Adderfang!" She called out, putting a distance between them and the other brawling pairs to avoid rolling into them. "Come at me!" The children needed her which meant Dawnstar needed to think she belonged here, if she wasn't good at fighting then defence would be her game. She'd dodge as much as she could and try to get a few swipes in while she was at it.

The fur stood up on her back, and her hackles raised. She stood and faced DawnStar. "I don't care for my life anymore than you do. In fact, you don't give a DAMN about any of your warriors. You think that making them fight will STRENGTHEN them? Don't you understand?! Making them fight weakens them. But you wouldn't understand that, would you? All you ever think about is yourself." With that ThistleHollow turned and stalked away toward the open forest. "As for you, MoonBirch... You can follow me or stay behind, but I'm leaving." Adderflower’s sharp eyes locked on Milktooth. The cat looked large but slow; no matter, the bigger they are the harder they fall. A sick smile formed on her lips and she started circling her opponent, tail lashing back and forward.
“I don’t believe I’ve ever seen you around,” she cooded as she licked her fangs.
Her claw dragged in the dirt, creating slashes in the earth. She created a circular border around them with those slashes, the circle getting smaller and smaller as Adderflower got closer and closer.
Then without warning she darted forward, claws aimed at Milktooth’s chest. Right before it seemed like she was about to make contact she switched direction and tried to slide under Milktooth’s stomach, her claws twisted to claw at her belly.

Clawscar was going to enjoy this so much. He loved a good fight. The older large tom launched at Shadeblossom, trying to give her little to no time to react. She wanted him o do the first move and he was going to do just that. Clawscar attempted to knock all his weight into the she-cat to catch her off balance.

Ebonyfang was a little bit rusty at fighting, but if he could take down a tough Windclan she-cat he can beat his own clanmate. Now was the best time to show the moves he had learned from the former leader. The former medicine cat didn't respond. Instead, he let out a growl and attempted to slash at their chest in warning of what was to come from him. He was here to show his worth.

Growling, Shadeblossom barely doudged the attack, and quickly threw a handful of pine needles into the toms face, hoping to stun him. Quickly running behind Clawscar, she hoped that she would be safe- for now

Milktooth didn't let her eyes stray from her foes', she was afraid to even blink as she might make a quick movement in that second of weakness. How was it that cats like this existed? Any normal leader would hate to have a cat so giddy to kill in their clan.
"We're not here to chat..." She spoke blankly in reply, mimicking Adderflower's circling as to not allow her to have any upperhand. If she decided to share that she'd been gone from ShadowClan for a while, how would the she-cat react? It shouldn't matter either way, she was ShadowClan born and raised.
The warrior was ready when her opponent lunged, but she was still quick. With a swift back step Milktooth avoided what she thought was a slash at her chest but before she had a moment to register the movement, Adderflower had slid beneath her. Her clumsy leap didn't get her far, but at least her guts weren't spilling out. She hit the ground with a thud, only a shallow scratch along her belly.
"Hey, now!" This was dangerous, was this cat really trying to kill her?!

GROUP 8 (Wildfire's opponent's roleplayer hasn't posted since June 6th and I work 10 hours tomorrow so I won't have time for replies--just getting this out of the way now)
For Tiabirb (Meadowbee, Shadowmoon)
For Undertaker (Dawnstar)
Wildfire despaired when she made contact with nothing but air and dirt; it seemed her opponent didn't want to show up for the fight. Was Goldenclaw afraid of her or something? Was he like most of ShadowClan, giving her funny looks before she even had a chance to open her mouth? Oh, well. That wasn't about to stop her from doing anything, and since Goldenclaw was such a chicken Wildfire would need to ask Dawnstar for a new opponent.
But wait...Shadowmoon looked mad. She spouted off a bunch of bad stuff about Dawnstar--things Wildfire had already heard--surely they weren't true. ShadowClan was the greatest Clan of all time and Dawnstar was equally great for leading it; she had given Wildfire Sparky and Meadowbee and that was everything she ever could have wanted.
Wildfire let out a huff and rose to her feet, beginning to feel pain in her leg that had been previously broken. She noticed a bee flying around nearby, tongue lolling out of her mouth as she examined the bee. Her eyes crossed briefly when it landed on her nose and she reared, causing the insect to skip onto her tongue and sting it with a peeved buzz.
Great. Now she needed a new opponent and she had killed this poor, innocent bee. Wildfire tried to put her tongue back into her mouth when she faced Dawnstar but the more she hesitated, the more it blew up.
"Dawnstar," Wildfire said with a respectful dip of her head, fat tongue protruding from her mouth. "Gowdenchaw is plauing chiwceen."
Oh StarClan, oh dear, Wildfire sounded so stupid with her lisp as a result of the bee sting. She hated sounding dumb in front of her Leader; how would Dawnstar treat her after that? First she missed the dog attack because some dumb rock collision snapped her leg and now she couldn't even talk.
"Uh," Wildfire explained. "Oebee stongm uh tonghe. I nhneed ahnew opphonnenht phwleahe."

Milktooth steadied herself as Adderflower acted as excited as a kit for her blood, her wound stung worse the longer it existed. This was a real pain in the tail, the black she-cat in front of him was crazier than a rabid badger!
"I won't be backing down just yet." She avoided any taunting, ticking the other off didn't seem like a good idea. "There's really no need to inflict such serious wounds." She clicked her tongue, ready for the next attack.
When the other charged, she lowered herself down. Her plan was to get her head under the other when she came to attack and use her strength to toss the smaller she-cat aside. If she could avoid dirtying her own claws, she would.

Realizing what the warrior had planned she twisted her body and rolled over, landing on her side.
Getting to her feet she raised an eyebrow, reevaluating her opponent.
“No claws?” She asked curiously, not exactly in a mocking tone. The other cat had a chance to swipe at her but it didn’t seem like Milktooth even took that opportunity.
Adderflower narrowed her eyes. Was this molly going easy on her?! How dare she!
Rage fueling her she crept forward slowly, her body stiffing as she prepared for another attack. She pounced, trying to land on Milktooths back, aiming to claw some fur off.

Even if Adderflower was terrifying and probably a danger to the clan, Milktooth wasn't about to raise her claws at a clanmate if she didn't have to. It just didn't feel right.
Milktooth could feel the other's anger and it caused the fur on her back to raise, she was nearly frozen in fear when the other leapt. A yowl left her when claws met her back, she'd moved some but clearly not enough.
The weight wasn't enough to cause her legs to buckle but it was difficult. She couldn't do much with the other on her, all she could do was push herself onto her hind legs to try and buck off the she-cat.

ThistleHollow coughed up a spurt of blood and wheezed. She got up and faced DawnStar. Her eyes were slits. She wanted to kill her so bad, but she just hissed curses under her breath. All you ever think about is yourself." ThistleHollow's eyes flickered with rage. "I HATE you, DawnStar. And I hope to see you again so I can rip the light from your eyes. Any that's left, anyway." With that ThistleHollow turned and stalked away toward the open forest. "As for you, MoonBirch... You can follow me or stay behind, but I'm leaving." She walked forward into the forest, her eyes blazing. One day, DawnStar will pay for what she does, mark my words. I will make sure of it. ThistleHollow walked away from the camp and out into the night. Meeklein Undertaker
Moonbirch followed, making sure to keep a close eye on Dawnstar in case she tried coming after them, but instead she just turned away. It seemed she really didn't care at all. Wait, are we seriously leaving the clan? Moonbirch asked nervously. Granted, she never really liked Dawnstar, but who did? But leaving the clan? That was worse than death to her.

sorry for all the mentions ;0; //
marshwolf was loyal to shadowclan, but stars! where her clanmates really this weak? as soon as they have to put in a little blood. sweat, and tears, they throw a fit and spew some insults about dawnstar then decide to just leave the clan all together? she held high expectations for these so called warriors, and here some of them were, throwing their lives away-- she bet that a few of them would come back and beg to join shadowclan once again.
if she ever saw one of them, she'd be sure to take care of it.
redfang had puffed out his chest and walked off, much to her disappointment. she couldn't be too mad, though, he had chased off a rogue. letting her attention slowly shift to the lovers (if you could even call them that) ripping eachother apart, her tail gave a quick lash as one of them decided to leave. hopefully these imbeciles wouldn't make the others think they could also leave.
she found herself going over to dawnstar, blue eyes flickering over to wildfire who's tongue was puffing up like a frog, and lilycreek who seemed like she was about to faint from her terrible attempts at hiding her nervousness. "redfang decided he was done, so I can be wildfire or lilycreeks partner, dawnstar." wildfire seemed like a bright spirit, she wasn't so sure about lilycreek. she seemed weak willed.

With a bit of surprise Shadepaw turned his electric blue gaze towards his leader and listened as she gave him her orders. He was amazed that Dawnstar was actually trusts him to keep an eye on everything, but like usual didn't show it, "don't worry Dstar just leave it to me, I'll handle it."

Adderflower yowled in joy as she landed on milktooths back, her claws digging into the warrior as a way to make sure the warrior couldn’t buck her off.
As the molly tried just to do that Adderflower attempted to bit down on her shoulder, she wasn’t planning on bitting too hard but enough to draw some blood.
Just as she went for the bite, Milktooth gave a strong kick with her hind legs and Adderflower lost balance, flying forward. She landed on her paws ackwardly and let out a hiss. She had had it! That one bite and it could have been over! She lashed her tail, angry.
Clearly it was her ego that was bruised, not her paws.

Eyes flickering to the side in caution after that last swipe, the tom took his time replying in the hopes of avoiding any suspicion. The cat’s tail lashed, perhaps even more aggressively than it had, the worry of trying to scheme even something as innocuous as this wiring him up. “If you must- The cream cat growled, a sigh of resignation following before he leered back at Lightleaf with venom in his hushed voice. “- but if you take a single swipe too far, I will cease holding back. Away from the underside and face, and do try not to tear deep enough to scar, will you?”
The concept of signing off on his own injury was beyond perturbing, and given how little trust Sedgeshade had for a cat he knew so little about, a nagging suspicion that his requests wouldn’t be heeded lingered in his mind. Other options were much, much worse, though; the tom was certainly angry at this course of action, but not rebellious to it.
While no effort had been made to duck from the missed shot the she-cat had given, a mental note was made to do so in the future; with another quick glance around, clearly worried they were slowing down too drastically, the warrior’s copper eyes narrowed. “I’m going to smack you, let it hit.” Came the split second hiss as Sedgeshade made a swipe for his clanmate’s shoulder, sheathing his claws halfway through the swing and hoping she had the sense to pretend it hurt.

[ #7 - pikejaw - shadowclan warrior ] > Fawnhearted toadstripe [ open for interaction ]
While the gap between greetings and fighting had been unnerving, the tabby appreciated the time to think and eye down his opponent. Haunches lowering moments after the other tom’s, mentally thanking him once again for a few seconds of warning, the young cat ran over a few scenarios in his head. Steelking himself as the warrior moved to strike, Pikejaw concluded that didn’t want to dodge entirely- unfortunately, the mere act of moving his front half didn’t seem to fully remove him from Toadstripe’s path; that much was clear when he felt the sharp sting of claws on his forehead. An extremely minor nick, but the tom’s eyes welled up regardless just in time for him to attempt a swipe at whatever limb of the other cat’s was closest.
He had the heart, he had the proper swing, the young tom absolutely did; but with an aim subpar on mornings when the cat’s hazel eyes were open and locked directly on a target, it wasn’t hard for Pikejaw to realize his dexterity was once again going to quite the roadblock.

ThistleHollow kept walking without saying anything. She kept her head low and her ears back. She stopped dead in her tracks when she heard the rustling of a mouse. "Shh." ThistleHollow whispered. She crouched, them suddenly leaped onto a mouse. She picked it up and turned to MoonBirch, and threw it at her feet. "Here." ThistleHollow said, "However, do not eat it here. We need to get away from this place, just in case 'mouse-brain' sends any warriors to kill us." She then turned and carried on until they reached the edge of ShadowClan territory, and right by the Thunderpath.

It took the tom a few moments to reposition himself, looking upwards in anticipation of seeing his clanmate launching towards him once more and preparing in kind. When that, oddly enough, wasn’t at all what the tabby saw, he shook off his surprise and began considering his own attack; clearly now was the time for a move of his own to be made, the moments remaining of Toadstripe’s hesitance ticking by. Pikejaw wasn’t the sort who could garner some sort of odd, borderline disturbing enjoyment from violence, but there was nothing to hate about fighting when it felt as structured as this match did. Sure, the young cat could do without the dull sting that came with loose claws, but in opposition to genuine border fights or something more vicious, this was easily preferable. With worries ebbed to an extent, the cat lowered his haunches to the ground, springing up for a generic passing swipe- at the level of awareness he had of his mediocrity, the tom didn’t waste much of his time to overthinking his moves- in an attempt to unbalance the other tom. Inevitably, there would be times when he left training a little beaten, a little bruised, but the fear of something more than that was all but dissipated; nothing in the warrior’s head questioned whether throwing himself back into a scuffle was a bad idea.

We can’t do-” Head tucked, rather than darting from Lightleaf’s path, the warrior stood in place and aimed a swipe at her landing forepaw, hoping to topple her over and avoid the hit without fleeing. “We can’t dodge everything! That’s exactly what they’ll be looking for!” The cream cat finished spitting, his snarl coming off as unnecessarily aggressive- likely a result of the stress & dreadful sense of being watched by an analytic, sadistic eye. Sedgeshade had actually thought it over a little, assuming a more snappy tone would seem less conspicuous to bystanders. It wasn’t fake, however, simply a hoop of logic the warrior used to excuse not even attempting to hold his irritation in.

Toadstripe licked a spot of blood from his fur, and waited patiently for the next attack. He generally rushed headfirst when in a battle, but with a clanmate he was quite sure how to attack, Shadowclan was obviously stronger and smarter than the other clans, but here he was almost evenly matched.

Plus, Adderflower was just asking for it now! She'd swipe her once to show she was serious and the young warrior would hopefully back down a bit. Noticing how awkwardly the other landed, she lunged without a thought- leaping towards her opponent with claws aimed to swipe at her shoulder.

Finally! The battle was going to finally get serious.
She watched, heart pounding in excitement as Milktooth leaped at her.
In that moment she almost considered letting the older warrior graze her, that sense of false confidence that the other would gain would only be more fun to crush.
She was still considering this as Milktooths claws pierced her skin and slashed a gash into her shoulder. Adderflower blinked in surprise, not registering what had happened, nor the blood that leaked out of her.
Huh, maybe the she cat did have some hidden skill.
The smell of her blood snapped Adderflower back to her senses and she leaped back, a small chuckle escaping her.
“Ooo, someone’s mad,” she sneered.
She started circling again, her eyes narrowed.
“Let’s finish this shall we?” She purred as she shot forward, aiming to grasp Milktooth by her neck. She wasn’t planning on snapping it or ripping it out, just to get her in a vulnerable position to where Milktooth could no longer move, if she managed it that is.

Wow, could this cat recover quickly? Wasn't she just bleeding out or something like that. Dawnstar didn't really hear what Thistlehollow was yapping about, seriously every single cat literally said the same thing over and over again. What they came up with something new, maybe she'd listen, it doubtful but one never knew.
As the pair darted off, Dawnstar was rather happy to see them go, they were a bit too dramatic for her tastes. Turning away from whatever the hell that had been, she returned to the sparring cats, glancing up at Shadepaw, she gave him a mild nod of her head in acknowledgment for watching these mousebrains.
Her gaze shifted over to Redfang as the tom departed, disappointing, but not unexpected. Her eyes shifted over to Marshwolf, she found herself enjoying how straight to the point the molly was, not to mention, it didn't seem she was anything like some of those more weakhearted rogues.
"You can pick who you want to fight, Marshwolf, although if you want someone worth your time, I'd go with Wildfire." She yawned, stretching before fixing her gaze on Lilycreek. "Whoever is left can play with me for a bit, I'm bored." Dawnstar had already picked out the weak from the strong the stupid from smart. She knew who to keep an eye on and who could make something of themselves.

With a heavy breath, the cat lowered his haunches to the ground and sprung up for a generic passing swipe- at the level of awareness he had of his mediocrity, the tom didn’t waste much of his time to overthinking his moves; generic was fine- in an attempt to disturb the other tom’s balance. The leap forward had always seemed semantic, he had considered the possibility of simply not understanding enough to garner the importance of lunging simply to land and swat, but Pikejaw wasn’t about to debate this internally or rewrite all that had been taught to him of moves whilst smack dab in the midst of a fight. The warrior was clumsy, not an utter fool, promptly discarding the idea of trying to pull something fancy off before even giving it a second thought.
The tabby’s paws hit the ground with a thud, a shock rippling through him as the right slid out from beneath his torso for a terrifying second. It was, thankfully, not too difficult to avoid crumpling to the ground, but as simple as the fix was, the misstep certainly took away from the cat’s balance and direction when he finally aimed the passing shot at his clanmate’s legs. Any elegance was long lost, though it was debatable as to whether Pikejaw had any to start, but an…. admirable attempt was made to stick with the move.

[ #6 - sedgeshade - shadowclan warrior ] > Tuftleap lightleaf [ open for interaction ]
This whole battle was, truly, a repetitive, endless cycle of ‘I don’t want to do this at all, and yet I must go out of my way to choose to deal with it.’ The warrior most certainly did not want to feel his clanmate’s claws across his face, and yet he did. Out of choice….eh, honestly, not quite; in his surprise, the tom had genuinely tried to dodge, he had simply failed miserably. At least nobody would be able to tell, since being hit, unfortunately, was the goal. Damn his lightning fast reflexes, an effort would need to be made not to instinctively duck from any shots Lightleaf made. Rattled, feeling the blood her hit drew beading in the fur on his cheek, Sedgeshade spat into the dirt and glared daggers while deciding what to fire back with. It didn’t take long for an idea to form, and though it was quite likely not to be a great thing given the cantankerous cat and situation at hand, within moments the warrior was attempting a classic move- sure, he may be a little rusty, but it’d be effortless to remember this one, no? A move that had been the tom’s go to for so long, a kick to the side with some extra flair that had always been foolproof for him… and it was astonishing to see it fail so spectacularly. Despite the attempts to save face, or secondary kick with much less preparation after the tom managed not to fall on his arse, it was still clear the tabby had spectacularly massacred the fancy little running kick he had been so, momentarily, excited for. Good lord, the embarrassment was nearly worse than the fight- perhaps he was simply shooting himself in the foot by faking a battle in such a scenario, there was something so dreadfully degrading about signing off on his own injury. Would it be less damaging to his pride if he was simply beaten to bits by a genuinely stronger cat?
Ah, well, this wasn’t the time to think about pride; hell, who was Sedgeshade thinking he’d fool anyways? The tom had none to speak of; a cat that spent his days giving nothing less than a rat’s arse about his clanmates or how they thought of him had no grounds to allege he had pride. It took him but a single second, despite the sharp sting in his cheek, to conclude that pride could be damned, and not getting horribly injured was obviously the better incentive.

[Group 8--Modified: Wildfire vs Marshwolf]
For finnzel (Marshwolf)
Tongue lolling stupidly out of her mouth, Wildfire was too oblivious to how dumb she looked to be concerned about it, although those who noticed probably weren't surprised she'd let a bee sit on her muzzle long enough to sting her tongue. She still didn't know what she'd done to agitate it but her mood changed completely when Dawnstar advised Marshwolf to fight her.
She'd said she was "worth her time."
It seemed the bee was far more peeved with her than Dawnstar was, although Wildfire wasn't sure what she'd done to deserve a comment like that from her Leader. Sure she had engaged Sprucefall during her poorly-organized rebellion--seriously--who was incompetent enough to try to kill a Leader in their sleep? They had 9 lives; someone was going to notice and they were going to come back. But even then, why kill Dawnstar? Dawnstar was so cool and powerful; she was the only Leader Wildfire wanted. Either way, foolishness and incompetence were very different traits and while Wildfire certainly possessed the former, the latter failed to show itself even when her clanmates expected it.
Wildfire had Meadowbee and Sparky because she was in ShadowClan. She had no desire to fit in anywhere else and was going to prove that today, not just to Dawnstar but to her Apprentice and best friend. She hoped they were watching.
When Marshwolf leapt at her Wildfire was ready, except instead of attempting to dodge the attack she jumped right up to meet Marshwolf halfway in a torrent of claws. It seemed Marshwolf did not want to play nice and while Wildfire didn't want to seriously injure anyone, she wasn't going to take it easy on her fellow Warrior either. She had heard before that the cat who made the first move lost but didn't believe in that at all. Wildfire's fighting style was flagrant and brash and she would gladly demonstrate that for Marshwolf today.
Wildfire was strong from her swim training in the marshes, and she'd passed that method onto Sparky to gift her with legendary stamina that ShadowClan's heaviest hitters seemed to lack; it was important to have such endurance to hold one's own being only about twelve inches tall in a Clan where some of the biggest were over eighteen.
If Marshwolf wanted to test her she was more than welcome to try.

Foxstorm let out a growl of pain as Raggedscar grab onto her tail. She twisted around, the weight of Raggedscar slowing her down. She tried to twist around fast enough to catch the she-cat off-guard and swiped her claws deep into her face, hopefully to blind her.

marshwolf was a bit surprised seeing wildfire jump at her, having expected the molly to dodge her tackle. huh, it seemed they both had the same idea, leaping at eachother. claws colliding into wildfire's, she hurried to twist her body so she could land on the ground beside the other warrior to avoid smashing right into her.
digging her claws into the dirt beneath her, she turned to look at wildfire with a short glare. clearly. leaping at eachother wouldn't work unless she wanted to end up smashing her head against the tabby's or end up tumbling. so, she came up with something else that she didn't think wildfire would end up doing at the same time she did.
rushing towards wildfire, it would've been expected that she was planning to collide right into her, but she suddenly ran past the golden tabby. now behind her opponent, marshwolf twisted her torso and extended her paws outwards, hoping to dig her claws into wildfire's back. if she succeeded, she planned on giving the warrior a nice and deep scratch that she would be remembered by.

Lost in the shock of the warriors er, performance, Toadstripe didn't dodge and almost fell to the ground too, letting out a short he waited for his opponent to stand back up before he attempted to sink his teeth into his tail, almost no blood had been drawn and while that was okay with Toadstripe, he was slightly worried that Dawnstar would force him to fight again.

Upon realizing his attack had actually hit, the tabby was only narrowly able to avoid hesitating himself. Not bad, not bad at all.
In spite of Pikejaw’s head being as far in the game as it could be, the tom sturdying himself for the next move while Toadstripe did the same, the other cat’s lunge was mistaken as one that aimed for his legs. Sure, the warrior got his limbs out of the way in a reaction quick enough to seem uncharacteristic- yet another successful move, one that trumped the other, not a mistake to be seen. Unfortunately, the problem would lie in how ineffective a counter that was, considering the other cat, in hindsight, had been going for the tail. Pikejaw bit back a yowl, the movement of his half dodge yanking the appendage and latching it soundly in his opponent’s mouth. Fox-dung. Doing his utmost to stifle any vocalizations of just how much the small bite stung, the warrior grit his teeth and aimed to kick at the other cat’s face with claws half-sheathed; as much as he wanted the other cat off, he retained the sense to not want to stick his claws in the tom’s eye.

Adderflower’s smile grew as she saw that she managed to ruffle Milktooth’s pelt.
Finally! The battle was going to finally get serious.
She watched, heart pounding in excitement as Milktooth leapt at her.
At that moment she almost considered letting the older warrior graze her, that sense of false confidence that the other would gain would only be more fun to crush.
She was still considering this as Milktooths claws pierced her skin and slashed a gash into her shoulder. Adderflower blinked in surprise, not registering what had happened, nor the blood that leaked out of her.
Huh, maybe the she-cat did have some hidden skill.
The smell of her blood snapped Adderflower back to her senses and she leapt back, a small chuckle escaping her.
Milktooth cringed at the feeling of slashing the other with her claws, the sight of the fresh wound she caused making unnecessary memories rise up. The she-cat stepped back and shook her head, trying to rid herself of those thoughts and focus on this brawl.
Lucky for her Adderflower seemed to need a moment to snap back into attention which gave Milktooth a good amount of time to shake away her anxieties.
By the time the other molly started circling again, she was ready on her paws to do the same, mimicking her movements to once again not give the other the upper hand. She could tell where her opponent's gaze was, surely she wasn't planning on biting her neck? Whatever the other's plan, Milktooth waited until she was close enough before twisting her footing, trying to give the other's right ear a good nip to calm her down. It left her open, sure, but she knew she shouldn't be worried about dying here since Dawnstar had threatened the same fate to anyone who dared kill.

For finnzel (Marshwolf)
Wildfire would have laughed when she and Marshwolf collided except her tongue was far too swollen for that. Even if she did get hurt fighting was always a game to her and she didn't see it coming with a possibility for death all too often, though she was rarely dumb enough to put herself in a situation she couldn't get out of somehow. She had lived this long and would continue to; the math wasn't hard for other cats to do.
But she'd have lied to herself if she said she expected Marshwolf to go behind her. Now that was dirty, and the second Wildfire felt Marshwolf's claws sink beneath her skin and smelled her own blood she knew she had to make her pay dearly for it. With Marshwolf still attached to her she pushed herself onto the ground, attempting to not only trap Marshwolf under her weight but put her onto her stomach.
Her try at this only made the wound Marshwolf had already left on her deeper but Wildfire had faith this tactic would be what she needed to win her spar. It wasn't that what Marshwolf had done to her hadn't hurt--it was that Wildfire saw it not as an injury but as an inconvenience--as something annoying she would deal with after she handled this obstacle.

This was -- he was -- oh no. Spiderjump's bounding leap towards Nightsong ended in him sliding harmlessly across the earth because she left, left to go tell Dawnstar about something he didn't catch. What the? Was she crazy? I should help her, said a brave voice inside, scratchy from disuse. No- nonono, I can't - came the louder one. She did this to herself. Uncertainty weighed his paws down like invisible restraints as he watched, yellow eyes rounded in a mix of surprise and sort-of-concealed horror.
(His vision swam with shock and relief when Nightsong survived the encounter.)
Spider didn't realize how intently he'd been listening when Dawnstar's call made him jump - literally. Fear prickled under his pelt and Spider had to shame himself out of the tingly feeling. She's not done, so pretend. Pretend you can do this. The grey-black warrior steeled himself, banished the shakiness from his paws and nodded.
Spiderjump skittered after Dawnstar, pace quickened till he ended up several paces behind her. A crease between his brows appeared when he thought of Wolfwhisper leaving him behind -- again. Again, doing the hard thing, again without Spiderjump's support. Despite all he presented himself to be, all he bragged about, it was all just a puffed-up lie; he was a useless spider.

Getting her eye slashed felt more painful than anything Milktooth had ever felt before, she thought she'd known pain before, she'd even been stupid enough to think emotional distress was more painful than any injury but this made her life flash before her eyes. She genuinely thought this pain might kill her, all she could think to do was jerk away and cover the wound with her paw, she didn't know what she expected to accomplish by doing this but it felt like what she should do.
The adrenaline had started to make her feel numb, she could tell she had injuries but the pain was secondary to panic. She was about to shout that she'd had enough when Dawnstar spoke up, she'd never been so thankful to hear the terrifying leader speak before. [ #6 - sedgeshade - shadowclan warrior ] > Tuftleap lightleaf Undertaker dawnstar
What had initially registered as a ‘saved by the bell’ sort of situation was very, very quickly understood to be much more aligned with a death sentence. The call, despite clearly spoken in the ShadowClan leader’s ominous tone, had first seemed like a minor miracle; the spar was officially over- not only that, it was declared with impeccable timing and gave the cream warrior a chance to shake himself off from his absolute travesty of a failed attack. Sedgeshade had slipped past any notable injury, the worst a scrape on his cheek that was a small price to pay for what could have been leagues worse, and he could finally drag himself away from the most nerve-wracking situation the tabby had found himself roped into in the past… lord, countless moons.
Such a wonderful concept, a crying shame that it only took a few moments for the limitedness of the list to register in the cat’s mind. This was no free pass; rather an invitation to the second level of whatever in StarClan’s name the dark cat Sedgeshade was now staring over his shoulder at in horror could cook up in her twisted mind.
For the first time, the tom genuinely considered making a run for it; as it seemed, other cats had been able to nearly meander off halfway through the session- though they did seem to have left much worse for wear- and now was a better time than ever for the thin warrior to get the hell out of dodge. With the knowledge that something even worse was inevitably on the horizon, he had infinite reason to flee the cliff- the clan, the territory the second his and his opponent’s names were called.
The tom remained glued to his spot, though, no amount of dread enough to cease the worry of being pursued or meeting a worse fate in an attempt to escape than he would obeying whatever Dawnstar had to share. Whether running or staying was the most cowardly choice didn’t matter, as the only thing keeping the cream cat in line as he slowly filed in with the other names called, was a chest full of fear. In the end, the most spineless option was whichever one Sedgeshade chose, as each and every one of his decisions were unequivocally motivated by cowardice.
Head level yet gaze stuck to the ground, the tom made his way over to the leader, hesitating behind those whose names were also called in a feeble attempt to avoid her focus.

As the clearing was met with an unsettling, sudden calm, the tabby looked up to catch the tail end of his leader’s yowl. Giving himself a rough dusting off after ceasing any attacks upon his clanmate, the scraggly cat was thinking of giving thanks & a kind farewell to the other tom, rapid heartrate gradually slowing as he prepared for the walk back through the marsh to camp and mind filled with warmth in spite of his mild injuries. Pikejaw wouldn’t have the chance to make his pleasantries, however, attention immediately roped back to the large molly as she continued her announcement. The mix of satisfaction and appreciation for his clanmate’s civility was shoved aside for a few unnerving moments of dread, the tom filled with worry that his own name would be called in the line of exceptions. Swallowing thickly and hoping as hard as he could that his effort would be seen in lieu of polish, the warrior visibly relaxed upon realizing he was considered, at the very least, passable. Attempting to scrounge up whatever was left of the pride the spar had given him for his incoming trek, Pikejaw was just ready to continue on his calm way when the realization that his opponent’s name was called hit him like a brick.
Erh, perhaps if Toadstripe was one of the called, it meant that Dawnstar wouldn’t be too harsh on those chosen few? Offering a sympathetic look to the tabby, the cat began to pad back to camp rather than stick around long enough to find out what would be occuring afterwards. Squashing any worming of guilt he felt for his own sake, he didn’t turn his head around to see whether or not his clanmate had even seen the silent farewell.

Hearing Dawnstar's call, Shadepaw quickly lept down from the branch he was sitting on and followed only a few fox lengths behind. The young apprentice wasn't sure of what his leader was up to, but he didn't feel like he was in any possession to ask, instead he just followed behind quietly while his stomach bubbled with exitement.
