Sootstar
__________

Another moon, another gathering. Sootstar led the way to the sea stones, feeling a little less lonely than the last time but still wishing he had a little bit of company. Perhaps by the next gathering, he would have someone he could drag up here with him to talk to. For now, however, he hopped up on his own, the deputy spot below him remaining empty.

Breezefeather looked around carefully, green eyes racking every inch of space as he led Windclan into the gathering. They were not first but still, they were there on time unlike the creeping bugs of the pine forest. And still, he was the first of the deputies to arrive... not that there were many considering it was just loud mouth there but well... that was something was it not? Potentially stinky ass could've chosen one... and hopefully that one didn't smell as bad as their leader.

Glidingfeather lead her clan over to the seastones, padding beside Buckstar. This was now her fourth(?) gathering as deputy, so by now she was used to the feeling. It was nothing new. Once they entered the clearing in front of the large stones, she split off from the large group and padded over to take a seat next to breezefeather, curtly nodding at him in greeting before turning her gaze to the crowd that was slowly growing as more cats arrived. GATHERING GATHERING GATHERING! FIRE FIRE FIRE! That was all that was running through Swallowpaw's head as she followed Thunderclan into the gathering. WOW! there was a lot of cats but... NO ONE WAS AS GOOD AS SHE WAS! "FIRE FIRE FIRE!" she screeched out as she ran around, more in circles than anything. This was so COOL! who would wanna talk to her? Who would want to talk to an apprentice like her? EVERYONE! Letting out another round of "FIRE FIRE FIRE!" she felt good about herself and then went to see someone to chat. Maybe she could convince them she was a warrior already? What would her warrior name be? SwallowFIRE! Yes! Now time to find the victim!

Snowfern followed sootstar to the seastones, standing just outside of the area before continuing on. Her one eye sweeping the area briefly, she headed over to the outskirts of the seastones before taking a seat.

---

Turtlepaw hesitantly padded after her sister, her head down and tail practically dragging on the ground behind her. She was nervous beyond belief, and all she wanted to do at the moment was run back to riverclans camp and curl up in her nice, warm nest. She had never seen so many cats in one place - not even in the clearing. Her paws felt rooted to the ground, and it felt like her body was frozen in fear. The small she-cat hasn't even entered the clearing yet and she was petrified.

---

Springpaw stared at the area in awe as the entered it, her wide eyes taking in every little detail. So many cats! So many new smells! Her mouth hung open to drink in all the new and interesting smells, and she felt a large smile grow on her face before she bounded into the clearing of the seastones. Stopping abruptly, she turned her head back to stare at Turtlepaw before padding over to her. "Hey, Turt! Lets go!" she urged, gently pushing her sister towards the other cats.

---

Lionpaw bolted ahead of her clan as they arrived at the seastones, chest puffed out as she bounced around. She had already been to a gathering, but this time she could go off on her own and explore all the cool stuff she missed last time! Her ears were standing straight up in the air, and she took a deep breath before letting out a loud holler, "YAAAHOOOOOOOOOO!!" she cried, announcing her presence.

Head held high, Finchwhisker marched proudly over to the Seastones, strutting at a slightly faster pace than Dawnstar as the clan drew nearer. They were the last clan to arrive, which he wasn't concerned about in the slightest, since it was honestly becoming typical at this point. Stepping foot into the sandy clearing surrounding the stones, he let a devious smirk form on his face and strolled over to join the other two deputies, leaving Dawnstar to make her grand entrance.

Scorchstrike padded after her clan into the gathering. She was also having a difficult time. She missed Irisflame, who was missing, and was spending all her time hunting for the cold weather. She knew she stood out, with her mangled face and missing eye. She hoped and begged to herself that Dawnstar wouldn't do anything stupid, it would make Shadowclan look terrible. [Open to anyone!]

Rosebriar sat in the crowd of cats, her cute pink nose wrinkling. Ugh. The mingling scents made her feel sick. The only comfort was the familiar scent of her Clan, but that was mixed in with a plethora of trees, dampness, and fish. Even worse, it was freezing cold. Her thick fur had to fluff up to warm herself up, ruining all the time she’d spent grooming it back at camp. This was horrible, just absolutely horrible! Why did I have to come? she wondered silently, rolling her leaf-green eyes. Her small, lithe body didn’t provide much warmth. She’d have to rely on the thickness of her fur.

Wolffang sat up, tall and proud, trying not to wrinkle his nose at all the scents that came his way. Seriously, why did the other Clans have to smell so bad? Looking around, his paws planted firmly, he wondered what the other Clans were doing. The news tonight would be quite interesting. Also, due to the chill in the air, he had to fluff out his dappled gray pelt. Oh, well. There went all the time he’d spent grooming it. Rosebriar won’t be happy, he thought with a twinge of amusement. But he wanted to look mighty and presentable in the face of the other Clan cats.

”Me neither.” she agreed. ”To add onto that, it makes us look like toadbrains..” she muttered, looking around warily. She had a strange feeling everyone was just slightly judging ShadowClan, which made her uncomfortable and a bit angry. By arriving late, they had the impression that they were just lazy cats who happened to make a clan. Not feeling like talking to cats from other clans, she decided to start up the conversation again. ”So.. how’s training with Snakepaw going?” she asked the black she-cat.

Sparrowskip followed behind Sootstar to Seastones. He was thankful it was so close, he hate long walks.. As he sat down, he wondered where the other medicine cats were. All the other clans seemed to be there, and he had no idea where Snakepaw had run off too. He'll turn up eventually.. He thought.

"It's going really good," Nightshadow meowed to Duskfern. "Snakepaw has the leap-and-hold, back kick, and upright lock completed, but we are still practicing them."

Nightshadow looked at Snakepaw as he padded over to them. "Well, you can talk to basically any cat here, if they will let you. Gatherings are meant for meeting new cats, but not to share Clan weaknesses and strengths. A yowl by a Clan leader is the signal to start the meeting, when this happens you stop talking and look at the leaders. Also, do not fight with any cat because if you see clouds covering the moon, StarClan is doing that and that means they are angry." She glanced at the moon then returned her eyes to Snakepaw. "That's all, you may go meet some other Clan cats now," she meowed.

Meadowvalley nodded to Stripeseed then looked at Beetlepaw. "Now, you. Watch where you put your paws and maybe just talk a little more than run around. Apologize, Beetlepaw. If Stripeseed will let you and if not you can go." You sound as if your his mother, she thought.

(Could Dusk and Meadow interact? Duskfern is bitter about her mom being a past rogue, so I thought it would be interesting.)

Watching as Nightshadow left her to talk to Snakepaw, she decided look around for a bit until the gathering was to start. Among the crowd, she spotted her mother’s tan, black, and white pelt. She stared at it for a bit, then Meadowvalley turned around. Duskfern’s eyes widened and she ducked her head a little. She was pretty sure the she-cat had got a glimpse of her yellow and blue eyes, but there was nothing she could to about it now. ”Toad-dung..” she swore to herself.

Fallenheart breathed out through his maw, watching the barest wisps of misty-ness that turned visible in the chilled air. The warrior walked quietly through the crowd, searching for someone, anyone to socialize with. In the end, he settled down beside an unfamiliar molly and greeted, "Good evening." With a twinge of amusement, the ghost tabby remarked, "You don't seem to be enjoying the weather."

Beepaw hopped into the gathering. "This will be AWESOME!!! I bet you Riverclan will be the best here!" It was his first gathering. I cannot WAITTTTT!!!! He dashed to a spot and sat down. It's so big! He thought. Is that Windclan?

"Oh, no it's not!" exclaimed a golden-furred tomcat teasingly. He raced towards the other apprentice, a grin plastered onto his maw. "ThunderClan's the best, obviously!" he argued. Laughing, the abyssinian introduced, "I'm Lionpaw; who are you?"

Sparkfrost followed Breezefeather’s procession into the clearing, his eyes bright with barely contained excitement. He had always enjoyed Gatherings, and the chance to visit his brother and acquaintances from other clans was always something to look forward to. He wandered alongside Sagebrook, ears and bobbed tail perked, “My brother should be here—he’s very different from me, but you should meet him. be always has interesting news to share.” He offered enthusiastically.

Sagebrook nodded encouragement. "I can't wait to meet him," she agreed, glancing around Sea Stones. A small twinge of compassion pricked her as she mewed, "It must be hard, living in separate Clans." Shifting from paw to paw she fluffed out her fur a bit against the cold. Leafbare was here, all right. "But also interesting, to have someone with an inside perspective on another Clan. Life is so diverse, even in this small part of the world." She was happy to pad along beside Sparkfrost; it would be the first gathering in a while where she didn't feel alone.

This cat is nice. I think... Beepaw thought. Maybe we'll be friends. The warrior code DOES say "your allowed to make friends in other clans". And I know I might meet him in battle someday so that will be fine, right? He had just found his way around that.

"Yeah, I'm from ThunderClan," the energetic apprentice confirmed. He scrutinized Beepaw for a moment, then meowed, "Nah, you don't smell weird to me. Just like fish, but most cats think fish smells strange, too, so...?" So either way, riverdwellers scented more of the sea than the land, and that automatically made them smell odd compared to other field- and forest-loving felines. "Is this your first Gathering?" the abyssinian asked, his tail tapping on the earth as he inquired. Cats usually grew more reserved with each Gathering, seeing that each time was basically the same thing over and over again.

Dawnstar lagged behind her other high ranks, preoccupied with an internal argument with one of the voices who kept whining about her plans for tonight. She wasn't changing them no matter how loud they yowled at her. All they were accomplishing was putting the leader in a very foul mood, on the upside, she'd get to see if the bunny had come to decision or not. A full moon has passed and her time had come. As ridiculous as the bunny had made her proposal sound, she had started it and now Dawnstar was going to make sure she kept to it.

She forced her mind back to reality, eyes glancing up at the Seastones where only Minnowstar sat. She found this first and last arrival thing rather tedious, it's not like she got much out of it. She enjoyed showing up last, it was more fun, and she'd rip apart any of her clanmates who dared show or say else wise. Ignoring the fish's existence, the massive feline leaped up and took a seat on the cold stones. Waiting for her entertainment to arrive.

The lilac leader was wondering if this was how old cats felt during the cold seasons? Twilightstar padded into the gathering behind Breezefeather, puffing up her pelt as much as she could as she padded across the sand. Even the sand was cold, the molly hurried over to the stones, spotting the dark mass that was the dunderhead leader of ShadowClan as she leaped up. Sadly, she didn't see Buckstar yet.
Twilightstar flickered an ear in greeting to Sootstar, while she took a seat on the stones farther away from Dawnstar. The cat didn't seem like she was in a good mood, Twilightstar wondered if the mad molly recalled her words last moon and would leave well enough alone, it was most likely wishful thinking on her part. Twilightstar had a feeling that she should have spoken to Breezefeather about it but had somehow concluded that in the long run, it was an empty threat. The leader was loud and arrogant, but she wouldn't be that insane, maybe.
Before the Windclanner could get her fur ruffled and her tail lashing, she pushed their last conversation out of her mind and focused on the task in front of her, getting through yet another Gathering so she could go home. Sliding her gaze over to her deputy, Twilightstar bet if she asked nicely enough she could him to come up here and be her body heater, this stone was freezing! After watching him a few seconds, she tossed the idea aside, Breezefeather didn't look all that warm.

Not another gathering thought Jaypaw. he hated gatherings, no one talked to him, but on the rare occasions some one did it was often, 'your going to trip in that hole' he could mange on his own! his mother had said to ask Frostbreeze to be their apprentice, they had said they were not ready for an apprentice, he was not up set by that, he could relate. but he had fought with his mother on how she thought he was useless, she had stuttered on when she denied this, he knew she had felt, to his dismay, doubtful, he had slept at the lake that night. When he got to the gathering he was in a worse mood than normal because of all the 'watch out's he had gotten he decided to sit under a tall pine tree. Unfortunately for her the bobtails balance had never been the best so before she could neatly slide to a stop the tabby tripped, going head over non existent tail as she tumbled down the rest of the slop, rolling to a stop next to another apprentice.

Snakepaw had been practicing quiet of late. Not for any particular reason mainly just out of boredom but tonight it was the perfect time to actually do something with his newly practiced skill. Sneaking up ever so quietly behind his mentor Snakepaw felt confident he'd gotten as close as possible without being detected with he bluntly spoke. "Hey where are the other medicine cats Ive got a couple questions I need to ask and I dont see them." if he managed to startle his mentor (and maybe Ebonyfang but he doubted that one) it'd be a success in his mind but if not eh. He needed the question answered anyway. And sure he could probably ask the shadowclan medicine cat but.... Well he didnt want to. Snakepaw had warmed enough to the older tom to not be actively hostile but he didnt trust him, not really. The apprentice actually wanted to ask the windclan medicine cats this herb query, having long ago decided those two where his favourites out of the group and that at least to Snakepaws perception they were the most knowledgeable. He didnt see them though (curse of being short and long rather than tall like his mother) and had no clue if there was a select meeting point for the medicine cats here or what.

Despite the flush of pleased embarrassment that ran hot beneath her pelt, Sagebrook smiled lightly. "I'm afraid he has. We've had quite the moon," she purred. "I've heard a lot about you. Pleased to meet you," she nodded briskly. She was grateful for Sparkfrost's warmth beside her and suddenly the clearing felt just the tiniest bit brighter. She inclined her head slightly to the side. "How is the prey running in RiverClan?"

Larkstripe hummed in amusement, “That does not surprise me in the least.” He mewed, “We’re hunting more waterfowl these days, most of the fish have moved to deeper, colder water, but we’re still eating well. It seems that Soostar’s transition has gone smoothly.” He reported thoughtfully. He paused, giving Sparkfrost a sidelong glance, “You said you fought off a rogue? Did he happen to be a big bronze tabby with a blind eye?” He asked.
Sparkfrost stiffened, “Oh—yeah, actually. Sirius. He taunted me, and said that...that you had tried to kill him.” He answered slowly.
Larkstripe bowed his head in shame letting out a terse sigh, “It’s true. He spied on the clans somehow—he was using all of this information against me, and I—I couldn’t help myself...” he trailed off, and met Sparkfrost’s eyes with unspoken alarm, “I’ve never been so furious.”
“Yeah, me either.” Sparkfrost responded, “I had dealt with him before, but it’s like you said...he uses information against Clan cats.”
“Used,” Larkstripe corrected.
Sparkfrost tilted his head in confusion, “What do you mean?”
“He was found dead near the Outskirts of our territory, with his remaining eye clawed to shreds. Now, I wonder where in the four clans is there a warrior savvy enough to lay a blow like that on a rogue that vicious.” Larkstripe mused.
Sparkfrost recoiled, his eyes clouded with conflicted realization, “I—I didn’t mean to, He—he would’ve killed me—he would’ve killed us, I never meant—“
Larkstripe shook his head, “Do not apologize for defending your clan, brother. As far as I am concerned...you did the right thing. We have kits—apprentices to look after. A cat like that cannot roam freely in clan territory. You gave him a chance to flee at your first encounter.” The half-Clan warrior explained.
Sparkfrost glanced away, “I’ve...I’ve never killed another cat.”
Larkstripe sighed heavily, “You didn’t kill him. He made his choice when he returned to WindClan territory. I am simply glad that you both came away from that encounter unscathed.”

(Sorry for the long reply—it be like that when your brother has to tell you that you accidentally killed a man lol)

She grinned and licked her pelt
do you have a nice mentor? Mine has only trained me once
She looked down sadly but then cheered up.

“I do,” Falconpaw answered, “I’m sure your mentor will get around to it. You’ll be a warrior in no time.” She assured.

With a spray of sand Willowpaw hit the beach paws digging in as she slid down a dune to the meeting area with a whoop. Unfortunately for her the bobtails balance had never been the best so before she could neatly slide to a stop the tabby tripped, going head over non existent tail as she tumbled down the rest of the slop, rolling to a stop next to another apprentice.
This gal had the right idea! So with a deep breath from her unwillingly sprawled position Willowpaw tipped her head back and answered his cheer with an ear shattering "WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!" As she started giggling like a loon shaking her head to try and rid it of all the sand.
"You're loud and I like your fur! Hello!" More blunt then even her usual greeting but sue her, Willowpaw was fairly certain this would be her last gathering as an apprentice and she was excited!

(let the chaos commence (:< )

Jumping slightly in surprise as she heard a soft thud come from next to her, Lionpaw turned wide eyes down to the spotted apprentice, her cry getting abruptly cut off. Her look of brief confusion quickly changed to excitement, and she felt a large, toothy grin form on her maw. Wow! What a cool she-cat! The tortoiseshell she-cat let out a lough laugh as the riverclanner(?) let out her own cheer. At the compliment, she went to place her paws on the chest of Willowpaw, staring directly into the other apprentices eyes with a mock-serious look on her face, before another joyous look broke out ¨Hiya! You're pretty loud too, and I like your fur! I'm Lionpaw! Who're you?¨ She exclaimed, cocking her head at the end. The bluntness of Willowpaws statement didn't bother her, not one bit! She knew that it was nice!

Removing her rather large paws from the spotted she-cats chest, she hopped in place for a bit before briefly chasing her own tail in excitement. She didn't expect to find such a cat so early in the night! Actually...she reminded her of Yotiebug! Lionpaw laughed to herself at the thought, large brown eyes scanning the area for the older apprentice. ¨HEY! HEY YOTIEBUG! COME OVER HEREEE!!! I FOUND SOMEONE WHOS SUPER DUPER AWESOME!¨ She yowled out, her voice ringing through the area that was quickly filling with cats. She was more excited than ever to see what the night had in store for her, and she didnt plan on just waiting around for it to happen! Go big or go home, thats what she always said!

...no, she actually doesn't say that. Oh well.

Sagebrook winced slightly. So Sirius was dead. She couldn't say she was sorry for the rogue, but she understood how this might be hard for Sparkfrost to process. "Larkstripe's right," she mewed softly, running her tail along her Clanmate's back. "No great warrior would have done any different." She glanced at Larkstripe. "But I am glad that he won't be bothering us anymore," she added. "I can't say that he seemed like much a gentleman, last time we met." She breathed out slowly.

Sparkfrost nodded slowly, contemplating this, “I...understand. Thank you both.” He answered. Before Larkstripe could respond, a longhaired smoke tabby apprentice approached the trio, looking a bit concerned, her lemon yellow eyes wide.
“Excuse me, I’m sorry to interrupt—“ she decided to tread lightly, she was interrupting a group of warriors after all, “But...I overheard you mention a rogue called Sirius...did you...did you say that he was dead?” She asked, voice wavering.
Sparkfrost and Larkstripe both paused, glancing at each other, “Well...yes. He is dead. Does he mean anything to you?” Larkstripe finally asked.
The apprentice, a ThunderClan cat called Falconpaw stiffened, “No.” She lied immediately, “I only wish that I had been the one to end him. I apologize for the intrusion.” She answered, before dipping her head and departing.
Sparkfrost was silent for a moment, his eyes wide.
Larkstripe sucked in a deep breath, “Well, there you have it, another vote of confidence. My prodigal brother has saved us all again.” He quipped.
“For the love of StarClan, Larkstripe—“ Sparkfrost declared.

“He was your father too, brother, if you’re about to imply that I am the way that I am because of Sorreltail, well...” Larkstripe trailed off, looking his brother up and down, “You certainly didn’t inherit your thoughtless bravado from Heatherpelt.” He retorted, with sly grin.
Sparkfrost snorted, and attempted to act offended despite his brother’s teasing lightening his mood, “You should hope I never see you on the battlefield, you carp smelling bald fox—“
“Nonsense,” Larkstripe interrupted, “Would you really like for your kits to have an estranged uncle?”
Sparkfrost immediately stiffened, his eyes going blank, his pelt growing hot as he fought the urge to glance at Sagebrook. He fumbled, mouth open, brow furrowed.

[Shrikepaw - SC - TAKEN]
Shrikepaw slipped into the area with an irritated ear flick and after surveying the area quickly slipped away to a quiet shadowed area to observe the gathering. He wasnt a social cat by nature at all and the whole idea of the gathering rubbed him the wrong way, there was such a thing as playing too nice with ones enemies after all and so wasnt well inclined to participate. Sadly though knowing cats he'd be dragged into a conversation with some idiot sap looking to walk over and play nice and he'd have to talk to them.... yay. Worst thing of all this mess though was the lack of sleep was cutting into his valuable training time and stars (or lack of them) knows he'd rather be in a much different forrest then this.

--------------------------------
[Adderfang - SC - TAKEN]
Another day another gathering and yet another example of Dawnstar acting like a child in front off all the clans gathered. Maybe it was some secret plan she didnt know about but Adderfang just didnt see the point of antagonising the windclan leader when they were already doing so on her borders on the regular. Still even as she sighed and shook her head she could enjoy Dawnstars muscles scan the area for someone she knew to talk to if she wasnt otherwise approached. Contrary to what many might believe Adderfang loved gatherings and the chance to talk civilly with other warriors not in her clan, it was this type of interaction that made the clans a group and not a loose collection of rogues after all.

--------------------------------
[Gravehound - TC- OPEN]
It was with a slightly envious grin that Gravehound sat on the sand nearer to the shore and dug through the grains happily. The mute tom wished that thunderclan had a beach as part of their territory, he loved it here, but he was very pleased that riverclan was kind enough to let the other clans come here for the gathering. So while he couldnt come here and enjoy normally he at least could enjoy the still slightly warm sand now for the gathering. He could also hopefully bring something back for the kits that couldnt come too! Granted he could dig up enough shells but as he pulled yet another ridged shell from his hole the fluffy tom didnt really think that'd be an issue. So he dug, not expecting any cats to come and talk to him (they never did but he couldnt let that bother him) used to cats walking away at gatherings once they found out he was mute.

For the last few moments, Sagebrook had almost felt as if she was intruding on a private conversation.

And then Larkstripe mentioned kits, an amused glimmer in his sea-green eyes.

Sagebrook felt Sparkfrost stiffen next to her, but at first, her brain could only process confusion. Sparkfrost's kits? What did Larkstripe--

Oh.

Willing herself not to screech, or run away, or do anything similarly mortifying, the only thing she managed to accomplish was not looking at Sparkfrost, blushing so warmly she half-expected her fur to burn off. She opened her jaws to reply, but it seemed her voice had stopped working-- and for once, she couldn't blame it. Come on, Sagebrook. Get a hold of yourself.

Was the thought really that bad that she was this defensive? No, she realized. This wasn't defiance. It was...

She finally found her voice. "No, I don't think he would," she mewed easily, surprised at how smoothly her voice came out. "Or maybe I don't know you so well, Sparkfrost? Estranged uncles are very popular with the kits nowadays." Well, at least her humor hadn't abandoned her. She wouldn't have blamed it if it had run off to some lonely hole to die a slow, humiliating death.

Tensely, she waited for Sparkfrost's response.

Sure Willowpaw wasnt really a child anymore (more of a mid to older teenager) but she didnt let that stop her form having fun ever! So when Lionpaw placed her paws on the tabbies chest she had no problem with reaching up with a large soft paw and batting at the other apprentices whiskers not even bothering to get up. "Hiya Lionpaw! Im Willowpaw! Or Willowsomething soon enough I guess because Im gonna be a warrior soon just you wait!" She delared giggleing as Lionpaw chased her own tail. The bobtail didnt really see the draw but she didnt have a tail of her own so what'd she know really, if Lionpaw thought it was fun let her have fun.

Cocking her head curiously the apprentice looked up at the yelling molly asking with a chirp "What'sa yotiebug? Is that a name or something? I dont recognise it must be like a special windclan thing. Well I mean I know what a bug is, I can find you a bug if you want one... OH! I can get you a sand bug easy they live on the beach and even though theyre super jumpy and bouncy I bet we can collect at least some without them escaping! Oooooh but if yotiebug is a cat I wanna meet them, new friends are great!" Growing tired with being stuck in place Willowpaw wiggled around eventually getting herself sitting up straight even if her front paws pranced in place as she did so.

Buckstar trailed far behind the rest of his Clan, his brows furrowed. He managed to clamber his way up the large stones and take his place next to the other leaders. A particularly distracting pain pulsed between his eyes in steady waves, and he closed his eyes and sucked in several deep breaths. He desperately needed a break, and having to deal with a Gathering was just... it was doing the opposite of helping.

He opened his eyes and settled for stretching out on his belly with his legs tucked beneath him. "Evening. Sorry for being late," he offered to the other leaders. "Had some stuff to deal with." He searched the crowd and found Frostpaw, in her spot with the other medicine cats. Whatever she was grinning about, he was sure it wasn't anything to worry about. He too, glanced at his brother expectantly, and Sparkfrost effortfully recovered from choking on hair, the tips of his ears blazing hot, pelt bristled right down to the tip of his bobbed tail, “No, I wouldn’t mind at all if my kits were unfamiliar with their weird RiverClan Uncle! They would have all the family they needed in WindClan, where everyone minds their own business and doesn’t ask personal questions!” He blurted huffily. Larkstripe tilted his head and chuffed in amusement.
“Oh come now, I’m just giving you a hard time—“
“Well what about you then? Standing all alone at a Gathering full of cats?” Sparkfrost countered, fairly gaining a counter attack, “All alone, when I know that RiverClan has plenty of handsome t—“
Larkstripe stiffened, recoiling in mild panic, “Do not. As you mentioned, this is a Gathering full of cats.” He hissed.
Sparkfrost snorted, “That’s what I thought.” He quipped. Surprisingly, both brothers looked to Sagebrook in unison, with shockingly similar withering glances, and spoke the same phrase in flawlessly timed unison: “I apologize for him.”
They immediately snorted at each other.
“Get out of my head!” Sparkfrost snapped.

All her Dark Forest training, all of her planning—and she had been inadvertently robbed her chance for revenge. Her lemon yellow eyes were clouded with conflict and confusion, and she shook her head. It didn’t matter. Her prerogative remained the same, and in a way, the WindClan warrior had killed the ghost that had haunted her every step. She could perhaps focus on a somewhat normal life again. Perhaps. She glanced over at a particularly sour looking ShadowClan apprentice, and offered him a weak smile.

He drawled waving his tail between him and Sparrowskip "I dont know about you but find it far more likely that she were assigned yet another minder and with her head being so full of fluff completely misheard that poor Buckstar (do I ever feel for the poor man) said entirely. Whatever the case may be good luck to you... Whatever your name is, I am so so sorry for your bad luck." Did Frostbreeze really not know her own clanmates name? That was just sad.

His piece said Snakepaw, the youngest cat in the group, purposefully flicked his ear dismissively and turned his back to talk to the windclan medicine cat (though he kept half an ear on the group nevertheless). "Hey Coldamber sorry if its a bother but Ive got a couple of herb questions I kinda need answered as soon as possible, would you mind me asking at some point tonight? Maybe after the leaders wrap up if you want to stay for the announcements, Ive nowhere to be anyway." While the apprentice wasnt trying to whisper really his tone was low again, he didnt exactly want the knowledge that riverclan (or maybe just him) needed a bit of help shouted to the heavens.

It was a new thing to see another deputy here and as it seemed he led the smelling bunch of Shadowclan into the clearing, Breezefeather looked over with quiet intrigue. He didn't expect anything out of the ordinary from this deputy, considering FatLady had picked him so he didn't have any high expectations but still... just out of friendliness because it was how he was and nothing could sway that, he uttered a low rumbling, "Welcome to the trash spot of the gathering." It wasn't like it was anything prestigious where they were... nope they were just sitting below the leaders and getting sand or snow thrown in their faces.

Shaking out what little winter fur he had, which in truth wasn't much, he sat up a bit straighter, noticing with a small bit of satisfaction that despite the stereotypical 'Windclan is small' he was the tallest among the deputies here... that could of course all change with the pick of a Riverclan deputy but it seemed unlikely for now. "Thunderclan struggled with the cold?" he directed that question at Sourlady, someone he didn't particularly like talking to but for the sake of diplomacy that he and Twilightstar had discussed, someone had to try to uphold the peace between their clans and it seemed that today it would fall to him.

Rani (Shrikepaw)

Sirius was dead. Falconpaw inhaled sharply and retreated to the back of the clearing struggling to process.
“You seem about as happy to be here as I am.” The smoke tabby she-cat joked lightly.

"You can see that so easily and take is as an invite to come and chat? Thats speaks of either a lack of sense or a desire to make me suffer with you and Im not even sure which one I prefer less." He snorted letting his head thump on the ground as he kept half an eye on the other apprentice. "If I look like Im displeased to be here you look like youve been punched in the gut. Got some bad news recently? I dont particularly care but that makes me the best kind of cat to rant to." If he couldn't be left alone he might be able to get a little bit of information, as likely useless as it may be to him.

Falconpaw raised a brow but remained austere. Typical ShadowClan, she thought to herself, they all have Dawnstar’s contagious disposition. It’s like a plague.
“Hm,” she responded, glancing across the clearing where Sparkfrost, the WindClan warrior was still conversing with his companions, “I had...planned something. Quite extensively. And it seems someone beat me to the punch.” She answered absently. It wasn’t personal. The warrior did what he had to do. “I want for very few things, and this particular brand of revenge was one of them. It was my right to take.” She added quietly, with a low hiss. She knew the ShadowClan apprentice was likely too focused on his brooding to truly take stock of her words, but there was something gratifying about admitting this to herself. Sirius was hers, and he had been messily and hastily dispatched by a cat he had no connection to. She wanted to feel him quiver beneath the weight of her stare as she bested him for the first and final time. She exhaled softly, glancing up at the silver moon, “And what about you?” She inquired idly, “Anger for the sake of anger or something far more interesting?”

"pleasure to meet you too adderfang. yes, I'm thunderclan. it isn't bad in thunderclan teritory. prey is still running good, but slower than usual."Blueface thought about the wonderful hunting sessions he had with his mate, and smiled slightly.
"what about shadowclan?"

"Same with us, prey is slowing down but still plentiful enough. We're preparing for the future nevertheless though." She sort of chuckled, though it was flat and sort of blank as her normal cadence. "I cant say I envy Riverclan or Windclan though, at least our clans have the cover of the trees to stop the gusts and buffer from the snow they have little. It must be freezing over there and I cant imagine the prey wants to stick around in those areas right now, we have some issues with the lizards and frogs going to sleep but there are still alternatives for shadowclan, and thunderclan too I imagine." the warriors tail flicked contentedly as a deep breath out caused the air mist in a wispy cloud.

Coming to these things was beginning to wear on the old guy. Rainywhisker pads along towards the Seastones and, after momentarily beginning to scope out a relatively spacious sitting area to spend the evening, remembers the new position he held. And its seating arrangements. With a slight shake of his head, the dark gray tabby picks his way towards the medicine cats, blinking as he spots Frostpaw already making herself known. Perhaps it was with the new close-proximity, but she did have a knack for establishing herself wherever she went.

And here she was talking about him.

The tom steps up beside her and clears his throat, brushing his long and thick-furred tail lightly over Frostpaw's flank. Then he nods politely to the others. "Rainywhisker," he meows gruffly.

He hardly knew these cats by sight, let alone their names. Truthfully, faces came and went all the time. The older warri- medicine cat had gotten used to it by now. But by scent at the very least, he could distinguish them. His copper eyes slide over Sparrowskip and Coldamber. "I can assure you that Buckstar is in perfectly good condition." It wouldn't do for ill rumors about ThunderClan's leader to spread.

Then, he looks at Snakepaw. "I wouldn't say I have bad luck," he says to him. "And I would be kinder to Frostpaw here. She's had it rough these past few days. Hopefully all of you are willing to forgive her- I will be standing in her place instead." Looking from the RiverClan apprentice to the others as well, Rainywhisker dips his head just a little more formally than his earlier nod. "I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me, as I have a lot to catch up on in order to do good by Buckstar."

Coldamber's ears went up as Rainywhisker corrected the now FrostPAW and she had to sigh in relief.
"So Buckstar is as sensible as ever. I was worried. I had to work with Frost.... paw briefly and however briefly, she was a pain and caused me to turn extra grey."

She turned back to Snakepaw and leaned closer as he spoke, so he wouldn't need to talk very loudly to be heard. Her good ear twitched as she heard his request and gave him a nod.
"I don't usually pay much attention to the Gatherings, so we can slip away for you to ask your questions if you'd prefer."

As the seemingly new shadowclan deputy strolled over to them, Glidingfeather narrowed her eyes at him, silently examining him. She didn't recall ever seeing the tom before, but that wasn't really saying much. The she-cat never really socialized much at gatherings, even when she was just a warrior. Eyes trailing over to Dawnstar, she felt a tinge of amusement. At least old frog-breath was on time (unlike last gathering). An ear flicked at Breezefeathers comment, a small snort escaping her. Oh, how true that was. The absolute honor that was bestowed upon them, having to sit in the shadows of the leaders, with who knows what falling from the tops of the stones. Dark, narrow eyes scanned the group of deputies, doing an internal head count. One... Two... Three including her. So there was still no riverclan deputy, huh? Well, Sootstar better get moving on that.

When the Windclan deputy directed his speaking towards her, she glanced back at him. Struggle? No, not really. She didn't think 'struggle' was necessarily the right word. A more accurate description would be 'hit over the head and caught off guard'. But she wasn't going to say that, who knows what that new Shadowclan deputy would do with that information. She wasn't really worried about Windclan knowing, the two clans seemed to be on good - or, at least neutral terms. "We've been doing rather well, as a matter of fact. Prey hasn't seemed to have been harder to find, though there has been a noticeable difference in the amount of prey in the pile." She mused, shrugging slightly. A questioning eyebrow quirked at Breezefeather, gesturing for him to respond to the same question.

Rosebriar turned to see a ghost tabby tom approaching her. She hoped that she looked presentable enough. Sniffing the air, she found that she couldn’t catch a good whiff of his scent. Which Clan was he from? Oh, well. She listened to him talk and tensed up. Was he trying to tease her? “Of course not. It’s freezing,” she muttered. Normally, she’d flirt - of course, without breaking the warrior code, since she thought toms from other Clans were disgusting anyway - but she didn’t. Instead, she added, “I wish leaf-bare would just end. What’s the point of it, anyway?” She gave her fluffy white chest fur a few licks. If only all the grooming she’d done hadn’t gone to waste!

She could scent RiverClan and WindClan but ShadowClan hadn't arrived yet. They shouldn't be long, she thought. The tan, black, and white she-cat looked at Blueface then around the clearing. Meadowvalley's eyes stopped at Pinefang. "I still don't know why Buckstar brought her, she's a killer," she whispered to Blueface. "But I'm not going to be the one that makes StarClan angry at this Gathering or any." She scented ShadowClan arrive. "ShadowClan is here. Larkstripe raised a brow, impressed by the Sagebrook’s cool response.
“What, and leave all this lovely vacuous emptiness?” Larkstripe retorted, trying not to laugh.
Sparkfrost huffed, then shrugged, “Alright. Fair enough.”

“You know, the full moon truce applies not only to cats of other clans, but to your own clanmates. Her normal self would have been angry at this, but all she could feel was sadness. Her family was torn apart. Who’s gone? Dad’s gone, Mom’s gone, Flame’s gone, Petal’s gone.. she named her family members in her head. Everyone’s gone. And she just replaced him. I guess she’s gonna have new kits next.. All of this was just like a storm, emotions pouring down like rain. She was confused, scared, angry, sad, everything. It didn’t make sense, but you just have to go along with life.

“Kind as always I see,” Marigoldpaw grumbled flicking an ear. “Now c’mon Pipsqeak let’s watch the chaos unfold. Maybe we’ll get some excitement today,” She growled moving over. Surprisingly Marigoldpaw actually like Deadpaw...or as she called her Pipsqeak. In all honestly that was probably the only cat from another clan she liked or even tolerated. The golden apprentice tried to refrain from talking bad about Windclan in front of Pipsqeak but sometimes it slipped. She was getting better though...of course that was when she tried.

Minty the Merry (Wow, that was...I have no words.)
"Duskfern..." Meadowvalley watched as her daughter walked away. What have I done, she thought. The family is ruined. She tried to walk to her but all she could do was stumble on her paws. She took one last look at Duskfern then walked away and sat down far away from everyone else, facing her back to the leaders. All she could do was cry (no tears). Looks Duskfern gave her flashed through her mind, her father and siblings flashed through her mind as well. Blueface will be angry with me too for not telling him, she thought.

As you are! Deadpaw quipped, considering with a bit of amusement that Marigoldpaw had been the one to insult her first. Scooting after the Shadowclanner, she asked rather sneakily Your leader got any chaos planned, or just the usual? Maybe taking a dig at Dawnstar wasn't the best idea, but.........it wasn't like anyone could deny with any substantial evidence that she didn't generally aggravate everyone. Just her presence seemed to do it, which actually might be useful in a fight if you unsettled the heck out of everyone instantly. Maybe it was just how angry the molly always looked, her face glowering now and, Deadpaw imagined, always. Wolfgirl8

Marigoldpaw rolled her eyes and growled gently shoving into Pipsqeak as if she couldn’t decide whether to be annoyed or amused. “Bleh blah blah blah,” She mewed with a small grin. Taking little to no offense as Pipsqeak question Marigoldpaw mewed, “Hope so! It’d be fun to see that Rabbitstar of yours knocked of her throne,” Okay maybe she’d taken a tad bit of offense. In an attempt to be nice again(Yeeesh Adderfang was really rubbing off on her) she shrugged and said, “Or any of the leaders. Though I can’t say I wouldn’t enjoy Frostbrag to be knocked off her Thorne as well,” At that she smirked.

Snailswirl
________

Stars above, they were tired.

Not only were they absolutely mentally drained, but they were sick and tired of all the illnesses and injuries. It was as if these cats thought the herb supply was endless! Better yet, their supply of catmint wasn’t faring exactly well! It was almost enough to make them wish they were just a warrior again. So much simpler, so much easier. Almost. But not quite.

Leaf-bare would pass, but they could make it through. Even if their vision came true, WindClan wouldn’t die. The bicolored tabby reminded themself of this as they ran to the Gathering. Their breath came out of their mouth in wispy clouds, warming the air for a short moment before disappearing. As the Seastones came into sight, Snail slowed. And it seemed they were just in time to see their favorite cat, good old Frosty. With another ThunderClanner. Another poor bodyguard, huh? Oh, an apprentice? Before they could speak or introduce themself to Somethingwhisker, the cat spoke. And despite their heavy breathing, Snailswirl couldn’t help but let out a chuckle.

"Frostpaw, eh? ...Looks like the medicine cat... has become the apprentice!"

Oh more interesting then he expected out of a thunderclan cat. "When it comes to revenge theres a fine line between too much haste and cation and it is all too easy to miss a fleeting chance death provides. If youre lucky the chance is still there, death isnt always the end but if it is? Well maybe the plan wasnt worthy of you if someone else couldve so easily accomplished it." Shrikepaw could almost be eloquent when he wasnt in a blind frothing rage born of bloodlust, the mainecoon tom almost civil when he wasnt cruel. "And if it was so important? Find a way to move on. Don't be one of those fools that wastes their life caught up in the past, those cats are worse than a burden, they're dead weight meant for culling. We had one of those in shadowclan, their name is now Failpaw so let that be an example or a lesson." There was the cruelty the monochrome toms words were biting and vicious, without mercy.

As for the second question that netted a sort of callous drawn rather than a bite. "Anger for wasted time. This gathering is a waste of time that can be better used elsewhere. We are wasting time chattering with cats we may be biting the throats of later, giving too much time for socialisation creates bonds with foes that will detrimental later, get to the announcements and let's go home if even that." The tom doubted the other cat would make the connection to the wasted time (at night a time generally spent sleeping) to training in the darkforest but if they did? They might be more worth to talk to then he first thought.

Blueface nodded, then looked at the leaders on the rock.
"nice night tonight. wonder what the leaders are going to say," he commented. he wasn't very good at small talk, but he tried. he tried to think of something else to say.

"Well we have a new deputy, which is probably obvious. And no doubt more of windclans complaints, bunch of soft hearted fools talk big but fail to back up any of their words when it comes to more than that." This came with a scoff and a head toss over the moor born clan before she shook it off "Anything interesting happen in thunderclan as late or are things stable for your kin?" A short pause before she commented again "Actually Im very impressed with how far your clan has come, after how badly Duskstar let your people down, it looked like thunderclan would never bounce back. But is amazing how well Buckstar is doing to do that, you all must be very pleased with him."

"Uh yeah sorry miss Coldamber give me a second." Snakepaw stammered a bit head whipping back to stare at the thunderclan she cat a wide delighted grin slowly growing over his face "Frostpaw? Frost-paw. You werent given an apprentice you were made the apprentice! You and I are the same rank now! What do you even have to do to get demoted like that?! And why would you even try and lie about it, its not like there was any conceivable way you'd able to hide it, and it really just makes you look well...." He gave a short inhaled hissing breath before deciding "You know what, nothing I can say can be better than what you already manage to do without help. No need to scold me Sparrowskip Im going, I'll find you when the gathering ends." With that the apprentice stood and nodded at the windclan cat pointing with his tail "Thank you again I see a clear patch over there where we can talk."

“He was a cruel, unprincipled creature and despite my selfish need to purge him from our land in the name of clan sovereignty, we are all better off now that he has been taken off the board.” She remarked, looking out across the throng of cats with calculative lemon yellow eyes, “Still,” she said, her claws involuntarily extending, “He was killed by one of the most fearsome warriors in the four clans. I would’ve loved to have seen it.” She added. Time better spent? She couldn’t help but agree.
“It is just as Berrywing and Coldpath have told me. We must be prepared to take our opportunities. Fate will not wait for us.” She remarked. The She-Cat paused. Coldpath was dead, but his reputation for fratricide lived on. She worried briefly if the ShadowClan warrior made the connection.

(redleaf is in thc, jsyk)

All the clans had arrived, and the leader haven't even so much as made small talk. Redleaf felt his boredom growing, and it was growing fast. The transgender tom exhaled loudly out of his nose, his eyes sweeping the area. He was currently laying down, his head propped up on his front paw. Things better get moving quickly, or he was pretty sure that he would end up dozing off. Eyelids already drooping, he decided to briefly close them for a moment....or two. Basically, he just wanted to take a nap. Even though the slim tom was still relatively young - for a warrior, at least - he was already exhausted by his duties, which he thought would be more exciting than what he had to do as an apprentice. After about 4 moons into being a warrior, he was soon proven wrong. A small snort escaped him at the thought. He was only...what? 29 moons? 30? (He wasn't really keeping track, but he knew it was somewhere around that) and he was already acting more like an elder than some of his seniors.

As he heard pawsteps approaching him, he peeked an eye open and glanced over to the other cat, ears slowly perking up. When he recognized who it was, his eyebrows rose in slight surprise. It...was riverclans former leader. It had barely been a moon since he had found out about the resignation, and he still thought of Lionstorm as Lionstar, in a way. Its not that he was against Sootstar being leader, not at all. He just...wasn't quite used to it yet. As the golden tom took a seat next to him, he offered the warrior a small smile ¨Well...I guess its yours now¨ he responded, tail tip slowly flicking back and forth. ¨Im redleaf, by the way¨ he introduced himself, briefly dipping his head in greeting before straightening back up. Of course, he already knew who Lionstorm was, but he was almost certain that Lionstorm didn't know who he was.

The huge molly found her way down to seastones with the rest of her newish clan. She still wasn't fully comfortable and still hated seeing Dawnstar up on the rocks. She didn't deserve to be up there, and she didn't deserve to be alive either. With all the problems she's caused of late, she doesn't even deserve to be a clan cat in her eyes.
She didn't want to think about this anymore, and walked away down the coast line to where she had sat last gathering. Hopefully her mother would come looking for her over here.

Feathermask gave a laugh at that, she liked this kid! She nodded in agreement "yeah suck ups are pretty annoying .If they jump off a cliff like rats let them. " although she gave a hum. Like how some cats are fine with voicing their hate, sometimes with certainty leaders ...it can cost them their lives. She really didn't care who, but she was going to find SOMEONE so she wasn't bored the whole time the leaders gave barely hidden threats to each other and attempted to bolster their clans intimidation factor. Hopefully Dawnstar wouldn't be the mouse brain she usually was and stay cool, but that was probably to much to hope for at this point.(Open for non-WC)

The frosty warrior quietly searched for an open seat amongst the crowd, wary of accidentally interacting with the wrong felines. Surprisingly enough, his golden-furred friend seemed to have found something else to do other than bother him, which left Talonstone with his own choice of where to stand for the night. As he padded around, he couldn't help but brush by a few cats—the result of too many clanners gathered around one small area—but as he scanned the next group of felines in now ahead of him, he paused. "And shadowclan? Well I suppose we eat similar things for the most parts, squirrels, mice, and voles but we also have the marshes and get some prey you might not normally get from there. They claim it’s something greater.” She enumerated, “They claim that this...place is designated for great warriors to pass their knowledge on to promising cats. "Yes, that is true. But I'm not here to cause trouble." Nightshadow was more on the easy side of ShadowClan cats. She barely causes any trouble anywhere unless someone threatens her Clan or Clanmates. She sat down in front of Silverpaw. "So um, how's WindClan? Prey running well?"

Nightshadow listened to all of the questions that came from Silverpaw. "ShadowClan is good," she meowed. She tried to answer all of the apprentices questions. "No rabbits for me though," she joked. "We don't eat rabbits." She flicked her ears forward to listen to Silverpaw's last question. "ShadowClan cats aren't ferocious," she growled. Nightshadow realized she growled at the apprentice. "Oh, I'm sorry. I just hate when other cats call my Clan ferocious. Some cats in ShadowClan are mean, but I'm one of the few cats that are nice. But if someone threatens my Clan or Clanmates then I will unsheathe my claws and hold my ground."

There were twice as many cats as in that big battle they'd crashed, only this time nobody was fighting, which was great. Wondering where they should go first, their attention was grabbed by Lionpaw calling out for them.

"LIONPAW!" They hollered with a smile as they dashed over to meet the younger apprentice and the new friend. "It's so LOUD here! I kinda LOVE IT!" They felt right at home here with everything going on. "We can meet so many new cats and ask them all sorts of questions!! I wonder what cool things they know that we don't? Oh, hi there! Sparkfrost bristled involuntarily, icy eyes narrowing as the older warrior snapped at Sagebrook. He had very limited interactions with him, but he was thus far unimpressed.
“You know, the full moon truce applies not only to cats of other clans, but to your own clanmates. If you’re interested in stirring up conflict, perhaps you should go heckle some ShadowClan warriors.” He remarked, lifting his chin a bit, tail twitching in light agitation. He had no intentions of arguing with the warrior, but he was determined not to allow him to be so abrasive to a fellow WindClan cat—to Sagebrook.

Stripeseed flicked his tail in irritation, letting its tufted tip whisk up dust. "I believe that I've already checked that off my list for the night, thank you very much." Deliberately keeping his eyes off Sagebrook, he gave a curt nod. "Enjoy your Gathering." Without another word, the sour old warrior strode off and was lost in the throng of cats. He wouldn't let his thoughts rest on his error; instead, he padded off to a far corner of the clearing and sat in silence. Mousebrains, all of them. If I had formed the Clans, there wouldn't be any of this silly Gathering business, mucking around with cats from other Clans. WindClan should keep to itself. He sighed. Why wouldn't the leaders begin, already?

Several fox-lengths off, Sagebrook sighed. "My savior," she mewed with a wry grin. "I don't know why, but Stripeseed and I have never gotten along. Sometimes-- well, we can both be fuzzbrains. Thanks for intervening," she added, letting her pelt brush Sparkfrost's. Inwardly, satisfaction and hope mingled. It was so nice to have Sparkfrost around. A good friend. Her best, actually.

She eyed him surreptitiously. And something more?

However, his ears burned at Sagebrook’s initial comment, “Ah well, I don’t know about that, you can more than hold your own...” he replied. The prodigal warrior’s voice wavered a bit. He had grown ever closer to the capable WindClan she-cat, and felt as if the gravity pulling him closer was reaching a paramount. He glanced up at the silvery moon, reminded of Sunhawk’s blunt advice. Sparkfrost inhaled sharply. Don’t mess this up, he chided himself inwardly. Having received such a somber welcome, Finchwhisker couldn't help but scoff. However, the WindClan deputy--whatever his name was--did have a fair point. This was a rather dreary area, especially considering it was supposed the spot set aside for cats of such merit. "Why thank you," His sarcastic declaration of appreciation was swiftly cut off as Dawnstar finally leaped onto the rock, causing grains of sand and snow to come sprinkling down on top of their heads. What kind of cat in their right mind had assumed this would be a place the deputies might enjoy sitting? This was all rather distasteful, but he knew there wasn't a whole lot they could do about it.

In his time spent thinking, the tabby tom realized the others had moved on in conversation. Amber eyes studied the two other deputies as they went on with their exchange, examining them closely for the first time. What were their names again? He didn't have a clue. In truth, he'd never wholly paid attention to anything involving the other clans at gatherings, but now, he supposed he was in the same position as these two. Well... maybe they were equal in rank, but naturally, he was unmistakably superior to those scoundrels. Nevertheless, he would have to get to know them a bit better--or at the very least, learn their names--if he didn't want gatherings to be such a drag. But it wasn't as if he'd take himself down by asking them what in the world their names were. No no no. One of them was bound to use the other's name at some point, so all he had to do was watch, and wait, and listen.

Surprisingly, Falconpaw offered a rare chuckle at the initial statement, “Fair enough.” She remarked. Sirius has been cocky and proud—he had been a vicious, dirty fighter, but had to have known that Sparkfrost would flay him alive. She paused. The ShadowClan apprentice was playing games. Falconpaw flicked an ear and lowered her voice, calculative eyes distant, “Are they training you too?” She inquired, her voice growing cold.

Got her. Shrikepaw chuckled derisively before responding "Not those specific cats, no. I'd say I've got my own mentor." Though he didnt name any names, the thunderclan cat would defiantly know of Stormgorse, him being a thunderclan warrior and a well respected one to boot though him being in the dark forrest may be an interesting shock given Stormgorse seemed well versed at hiding his inner darkness. Though the apprentice seemed to know less of the darkforrest it wouldnt do to piss her off too badly. "An interesting claim and not a true one let me tell you. Think of it as a counterpart to starclan where cats who don't... fit there go." He shrugged "They can deliver though, it's the cost that most dislike, among other things. "You said you wanted herb training. Anything in particular you're needing to learn?"
She knew Sparrowskip was equally unskilled, but unsure just how much either of them had been taught.

Snakepaws ecstatic grin disappeared in a flash a much more somber scowl stealing its way into place. "Right yeah... This is gonna be a bit of an ask but Ive got two major issues I need to learn how to fix.
First of all, theres a kit in the den right now sick but not with the normal flu its smells different. Theyre coughing and weak and feverish and while I dont really know anything I did listen to the elders a lot as a kit and they talked about Greencough (whitecough? Ive no clue what the difference is) and how bad it is. As much as I hate to say it a single kit dying might not be that bad if it is greencough but they also mentioned how fast it spread and I cant depend on it being only them recovering or not for the entire winter. So what herbs do you use for greencough and what do they look like? Any information you can give me will be a huge help..."
Heavy question sure but that wasnt it.
"Also I dont know about windclan but our warriors seem to get into scraps so often its insane and we lost two to infection like as soon as we were given the position. So how do you treat and prevent infection? I- I dont wanna loose anymore clanmates..." It still hurt. The apprentice had expected he couldnt have saved Dogflame, the warrior bled out before he could even get to him, but Owlflight and Mapleleaf? It haunted him. Hopefully Coldamber would be able to help though, the medicine cat seemed to know a lot so maybe he would finally have some good luck.

Coldamber held a small, pleasant and passive smile as Snakepaw came back, not terribly minding the apprentice's resting scowl, but her smile immediately vanished as soon as Snakepaw mentioned a horribly familiar disease.
"Yes, that sounds like green cough. It's an infection of the lungs and spreads very easily. WindClan recently had 3 kits, a queen, and a warrior all come down with it, but thankfully, hopefully, it shouldn't be too contagious. Put the infected under a quarantine and change any bedding they've slept in, to minimize the spread."
The measures to prevent further spread were just as important as actually curing it. You could cure it all you wanted but if you treated it like any other sickness, it would no doubt spread quicker han you could cure it.
"There is a specific plant you use to cure it. It's not immediate and some need re-treatment. The plant is called catmint. I don't know how to describe it, but it's smell is unmistakable and invigorating. The leaves are separated in fours, all corresponding, in a particular pattern. Uh, like this."
Coldamber used a paw to make the four marks the way she had seen on the plants.
"Usually they are without flowers, but when they do bloom, they're a very pale grey-purple colour and are bell shaped. Do not give the patients the blooms, only the leaves. I don't think they're dangerous if eaten, but I know they aren't what helps."

She stopped and listened to him talk about infection in his clan and frowned. Had Fawnsqueak not taught them anything.
"No offense, but why didn't Fawnsqueak teach you this when he retired? That's irresponsible to not teach your replacements...."
Her nose crinkled. She was still a little aggravated that Coyotesnarl never taught her and Snailswirl more than he had, but the fact that Fawnsqueak hadn't taught them anything was infuriating.
Her tail lashed.
"Marigold, it's a golden flower, full of ruffles and almost looks like a cloud; this will help fight infection. You chew it into a poultice and make sure there are as few pulp bits as you can manage. In addition, you should use a light layer of cobwebs to hold the poultice to the wound so it can work, but don't keep it on longer than a few days. Also keep wounds clean and dry as much as you can."
She rolled her neck to let it pop a few times before returning her attention to him.
"Are you sure this is all you want to know? I would not mind sharing more with you."

Seemed Shadowclan was nothing worth paying attention to, or at least their deputy. But, they were not someone to forgotten, never something that could be forgotten. The feud might have lost its fire but the embers were still and not a joking matter, not a joking matter at all and so, he would spend this time to get to know as much about his new cat as possible, doing his own best to reveal as little about Windclan's status in the process. The temporary armistice that seemed to be resting between the two clans was just that, temporary. And Breezefeather had no doubt that the clan of lies and deceit would be the one to strike first.

Nevertheless he focused back on the arrogant lady of Thunderclan. He barely listened to what she was saying in truth, he'd only asked the question out of courtesy and obligations of keeping at least an alright diplomatic relationship with the molly. "Your two statement do contradict themselves. You said there was little prey on the pile yet there isn't any less to be found? Is Thunderclan's warriors slacking and not doing their job or is someone failing to send out patrols? Per say, the Thunderclan border, at least on our side of the grass has seemed rather stale lately." It was one of the main thing that the last three border patrols had reported in and he couldn't help but think there might be some internal struggles within the clan they, at least between him and Twi, considered an ally, and this ally might not prove as useful as previously thought.

"Windclan's been well, snow is obviously something we just got to deal with on the moors but such is things. At least our borders are marked and under constant observation." No need to say their border with Riverclan was less than ideal, but neither of these clans were in position to take advantage of that either. But the snow was a sole windclan thing usually, the other two hiding underneath their forests. Directing his gaze to the newcomer of the group he flickered his tail in the tom's direction. High risk high reward so to speak. Still I'd warn you to be a little more cautious about speaking of it in the future not everyone is as willing to look away as I am."

Falconpaw listened carefully, lemon yellow eyes widening a bit, “It is as I suspected...” she murmured, frowning thoughtfully and looking out over the crowd of cats before her. She was quiet for a moment, but set her jaw in resolve, “It doesn’t matter,” she decided, “They have taught me things that my clanmates won’t.”
There was something frigidly detached about Falconpaw. She was dangerous—precise and authoritative and unyieldingly focused. The trauma below the surface stoked her fire, and her obsession grew stronger every day.
“The clans represent order and safety,” she said quietly, “We protect our own, we shelter those who are willing to adopt our ways. The days of rogues harassing and even killing Clan cats must end. And if they will not yield they must be culled.”

"Let's get started, shall we?" Buckstar grunted. He wanted this to be done with as quickly as possible. Then he could grab some poppy seeds from Rainywhisker, and make this awful headache go away, and get some well-needed rest. He stood up, and had to pause for a moment to gather his bearings. Standing made the pain between his eyes even worse. Wonderful.

He made his way to the front of the rock and started with a shaky breath. "Things have been going well in ThunderClan. We have several new apprentices, and a new medicine cat."

"Rainywhisker has been chosen to stand in Frostpaw's place until she learns some dignity and respect. Most of you will have known her as Frostbreeze. Hopefully this change of pace does her some good." He spared the medicine cat apprentice a brief glance before carrying on.

"On top of that, Swallowpaw, Flickerpaw, Timberpaw, and Flamepaw have all begun their training. I expect each of them to do well."

"Halfpaw has also been renamed Owlpaw, due to there being some confusion with two Halfpaws in ThunderClan."

"And, sadly, we've lost Flowerkit. She wandered out of camp, and was attacked and killed by a rogue. I commend Lionpaw for trying to save her, and for driving the rogue off, but I'd like to take this moment to warn you all to keep a closer eye on your kits and your borders. Stars forbid something like this happens again, and I wish Flowerkit well in StarClan. That is all."

He backpedaled to his original place on the rock and laid down again, squinting his eyes against the pain pulsing through his head. Please hurry up so I can go home.

Yes! Now time to find the victim!

after careful examination of the floor and peoples’ fur, robinpaw hadn’t found any spiders yet, so he decided that he could have a nice time…. for now. the second he saw something with more than four legs, though, he was out. no thank you. not today, not ever. he wasn’t trying to die here. and,,,, oh!! someone was screaming fire! that was fun. was there a fire?? he didn’t see one, but who knew? maybe the fire was invisible or it was tiny or he just had bad eyesight. there was only one way to find out! run towards the fire! — or the person screaming fire, since he didn’t know where the fire was. yes. okay. that sounded smart. woop!

“hiiiiiiiii!” bouncing over, robinpaw greeted the Fire Person. “fire? fire! where fire? are you on fire? do you think you could maybe channel that fire towards any spiders in the nearby area?” could you even tell fire where to go, or did it just talk back and set you on fire in spite because you were telling it what to do? robinpaw didn’t know?? maybe Fire Person would know! “how can you make fire go where you want it to go?? or do i have to set the whole place on fire to get all of the spiders??” .. wait. he also had another question. Fire Person was making him question a lot of things. “also! who are ya? ‘m robinpaw.”

Getting bad news was never pleasant and this was the worst kind of news one could get. The kit had come in, what, a couple days ago? And Snakepaw hadnt went to fetch their old bedding in the nursery due to lack of knowledge. That was a couple days of contaminated bedding in the nursery that could potentially infect another kit. The apprentice would have to ask Sparrowskip if it would be prudent to check over everyone in the nursery just to be safe when they removed the bedding. Any other medicine cat would probably be asking the stars to give them luck here and prevent any more sick cats but Snakepaw ever the skeptic had less hope for divine blessings.

There was something that did give him hope though, catmint. Snakepaw had no clue what the herbs currently stored in the medicine cats den were or did but he'd studied them extensively for lack of anything better to do and as Coldamber talked recognition sparked. They had some of that in the herb storage already! Riverclan had what he needed to heal the kit! Snakepaw visible relaxed, relieved, as he nodded along to the lesson internalising the new knowledge.... Only to tense again when the Fawnsqueak question arose. With the telltale expression of a child who'd been caught doing (or talking) about something he knew he shouldn't Snakepaw stuttered a bit panicking. He was pretty sure this information wasnt something Sootstar wanted to get out and while he normally didnt care for what others told him right now he really wanted Sparrowskip to be here to deal with the question for him. So mouth shut tight bar his senseless sputtering Snakepaw heaved a sigh of relief when the windclan cat moved on.

"Wait THATS marigold?! I found a huge patch of it ages ago and thought it was familier but had no clue what it was! We needed that like water and it was right there the whole time!!" Snakepaw howled a little bit grumbling an offhanded "Yeah dry in riverclan, good luck with that." in between groans of exasperation. Wrapping up his melodramatic fit he perked up and sat straight at the offer for more. "Yes please! Ive got a couple more questions I think! First, poppyseeds, are they to make someone sleep or for pain? I cant remember and Im too afraid to test them. Also, what other herbs can be used for sickness? Like even if it's not greencough can you use catmint or are there other stuff for coughs and sore throats and stuff?"
It was funny Snakepaw was rarely this respectful, even to his own mentor, but he felt like he should listen to Coldamber like he would Foxblaze, strange...

No cat who went to the darkforrest in their dreams was normal, stable, average there was always something... off about them that pushed them that distance to seek the dead for power. For Shrikepaw its was bloodlust pure and simple, a vicious want for the power in battle and the aching drive to bite in his teeth. So the monochrome tom was, in a way, waiting for Falconpaw to show her true colours since he found out. Aaaaand there it was. Culling, obsession with rogues and probably all things similar. Shrikepaw didnt really care about this particular crusade but kept his trap shut about that. "Sounds like a thunderclan problem, shadowclan doesn't have that issue but then again any rogues near our land die or join before they can do much of anything. I suppose theres a fundamental difference in methods between our clans though." He muses smugly, tail flicking. Honestly Falconpaw reminded him more of a shadowclan cat than a thunderclan one and the tom had to wonder why that was.

Pikefang has shown me what I must do.” She hissed under her breath, recalling the way in which the RiverClan warrior had taught her to swiftly dispatch a cat. She glanced at the ShadowClan apprentice out of the corner of her eye. There was something wildly menacing about the She-cat’s chilled and precise delivery of her macabre aspirations.
“Do you train with them solely for prowess in battle?” She inquired.

Coldamber bit her lip as she listened to Snakepaw. It was obvious something had come to mind when she mentioned the quarantine and removing old bedding. That wasn't a look that indicated any good news.
She noted his awkward look further when she had spouted the question about Fawnsqueak, in a bout of anger and frustration.
It was good they had the marigold, but now they knew about it. This suggested Snakepaw and Sparrowskip knew nothing and that really boiled her blood, but she kept herself from saying anything more about it.

"Oh, both. Poppy seed is a relaxant, it soothes all sorts of pains and is especially good for muscle pains, swelling, and headaches, but it will still help with more general pains and in addition relaxes the body enough to fall sleep, stay asleep, and give restful sleep."
The confusion behind its use was understandable. Most herbs didn't really have multiple uses.
"Uh, for fevers, we think we have a plant that works. One of our warriors had a fever recently. We gave them a plant I don't know the name for, but it seemed to ease the fever. The flower has five pointed blue petals and between each petal is.... a bud, I think, very thin, and usually just as long as the petals. The plant also seems to be fuzzy. I'm not certain which part of the plant works, we just.... gave the whole thing to her."
She thought about anything for coughs.... and came up with nothing, but she did know honey was good for sore throats. She wouldn't have if it weren't for Stagpaw's insistence on constantly messing with the bees..
"We use honey for sore throats. If you can soothe the throat, usually, the coughing will ease up, but not always. I'm afraid I wasn't taught anything for a general cough."

Snakepaw was a pleasant student, he listened and paid attention and so far he hadn't interrupted her. Or, if he had, he quickly corrected himself. Much better than teaching Frostbreeze.
Er, Frostpaw.
It was going to be weird calling her an apprentice.

Oh new cat! Gravehound was happy to answer her best he could especially with how friendly she seemed! He mouthed and signed his words co-currently 'Hello' a happy wave 'Seedheart!' an improvised sign for her name which consisted of a paw dug slightly into the ground moved to press against his heart. 'I'm' a double tap on his front 'Gravehound!' a slashed motion on his throat and a wagged tail/barking motion like a dog. The warrior didnt expect her to figure out his name really but as long as she wasnt going to call him something mean he didnt mind what he called her. 'Im' double tap on the front 'mute' a paw placed over his mouth and his jaw opened to no sound coming out 'I can' double tap and a nod 'hear you though.' a gesture to his ears and a nod/grin combo.

To answer her question he didnt bother to sign just holding up a shell he'd dug up with a pleased grin and a happy tail wave. 'For the kits!' A giving motion to a non existent creature and a vague gesture to cats combined with a paw lowered near the ground in the approximate size of a kit.

"It does both? Thats both convenient and not, what if I want to take the pain away of a cat I dont want to sleep like.... Like a queen or a kit! I guess I gave to just go without or have to use something else then.... annoying." He grumbled but still nodded at the information shooting a thankful grin at the older molly.

"Hmm I dont recall ever seeing a flower like that but maybe Ill get lucky and find it somewhere. Can I ask how come you dont know the name? You dont have to tell me if you dont want to though." His head cocked when he asked ignoring the sinking feeling that unless showed in person he'd not find this flower or mistake another flower for it.... Still he had to wonder how Coldamber knew this stuff herself though, he was too young to know of Coyotesnarl so he guessed it was the previous medicine cat but why would they not tell her the name?
And then there was the last 'herb' "Ugh no not honey thats harder to get then a trout in a deep river! How is honey ever remotely worth it, it better be a mirable cure because finding it isnt gonna be fun." He lamented not whining trying to figure out if there was even a way to get some without being stung hissing lightly at the general idea, ears drooped "Maybe I can trick Sparrowskip into to doing it..." He mumbled unaware he was speaking.

"Right thats all I think I can remember right now without my head starting to smoke, thank you so much for answering my questions. Any last bits of knowledge you think I should know before I go? I know general stuff like putting pressure on wounds to prevent bleeding out and to clean wounds if dirty but any things you think Ill need would be really helpfull." The older cat had to have some words of wisdom for Snakepaw or something, the the experience the older cat had (so much and monumental to the young tom) she probably had something that Snakepaw didnt even know he'd need to know.

'Yes!' An exstatic nod 'No shells' a shaken head an a point as his bounty 'in thunderclan' he pointed in the direction of the territory drumming his paws on the ground in a mimicry of thunder for good measure 'so I' double tap 'carry some back.' he picks up some of the shells and mimes walking pointing again at the direction of the thunderclan camp. 'I love' double tap and a downright dopy happy face with a rub on his chest over his heart 'that riverclan' a point as some riverclan cats 'allows us here.' a nod, paw pointed between the two warriors then sweeped in a general gesture to the gathering, and a point down to the sand. 'They're nice!' another point at some riverclan cats and a gentle patting motion on his shoulder. 'It's sandy here though..' a paw scooped up some sand which he lets fall back down onto the beach and a sort of frowny grumble as he shakes some of the sand out of his pelt. He hadn't even don't much but the stuff was everywhere and we always took like half the beach back to his nest every time. Still with the invitation he went back to looking for shells, leaving a space for Seedheart to deepen the hole once he gathers all the shells he can see on this layer.

Falconpaw’s eyes narrowed, but she said nothing. She had encountered cats like this in the Dark Forest—Coldpath, the narcissistic, fratricidal WindClan warrior—madness was not appealing, but it was, on occasion, quite useful. Unhinged though many of the Dark Forest cats were, they were a means to an end. She inhaled slowly, her expression cold and unchanging.
“The Dark Forest is a resource, just as our mentors are. I do not have to worship the unconsecrated ground they walk on to get what I want from them. Power is not merely a desire, but a necessity, in the world we live in.” She remarked coolly, “My Clan is all I have, so I will do whatever it takes to defend it. It doesn’t matter what the stars, the darkness, nor the living think. There is work to be done.” She replied. Still, this cat could be a very effective weapon against outsiders, and her mind was already working in that direction.
“I make no alliances. I have encountered your type before, and you would move to slit my throat simply for the novelty of it as soon as I turned my back. However, I respect your need for chaos, and I know you would be far more interested in an opportunity than an alliance.” She decided. She was surprisingly placid about this statement—she had read the young Tom and not flinched at what she saw. “Should a rogue...elude my grasp...and flee across the ShadowClan border...I would be willing to meet you in the Dark Forest and tell you of their location. If they do escape me, they will be heavily wounded. Perfect to practice a good dispatch technique and...satisfy your needs.”

Huh beetlepaw said dully. He wondered where moonpaw was, hoping that this riverclan fish would get the message and leave him alone (Fat chance)

Gingerfrost wasn't exactly willing to be at these gatherings - he never was - but had still shown up for whatever reason it might've been. He had found a nice spot and made himself as comfortable as he could, glancing up at the leaders. There was nothing to surprising for now, as usual and so them tom simply watched. There was nothing else to do, after all.

------

It.. Had been a little bit since Nightshiver had actually gone to a gathering. She couldn't even quite recall whether the last one she'd been to was before or after her warrior ceremony- erm, probably after. Per usual the molly found a less crowded spot on the side lines, sitting down there, tail wrapped over her paws, and watching the leader's. There were many cat's, as always, and she still wasn't quite used to the bigger crowds.

------

Gracefully, Hailpaw had seated herself among cats of the different clans. She had a straight posture, watching and listening around her, paying attention.. It wasn't all to polite to eavesdrop, was it? True, so the older apprentice kept herself from doing so... Mostly. All she really had to hope for was that no one would come and speak her - it was still a pain to try and actually talk to others when they all knew how it would end. But what did it really matter anyway.

------

First gathering! First gathering! First gathering! Flamepaw was ecstatic about going to the gathering so shortly after being made an apprentice. And not only that, but her name got called out as well among those new apprentices - that was a bit embarrassing actually - but no one actually knew who she was soooo. The young molly limped along the many gathered cats, only then feeling a pang of insecurity about her leg. They weren't judging her, were they? The new apprentice sat, suddenly a lot more nervous than before, glancing next to her.
