Staff Applications

Introduction

The staff of Warrior Cats Online is hoping to add to our team and will begin accepting applications for multiple open positions over the next week. The roles that we are currently hiring for include Chat Moderators, Mini Moderators, and Support. While these can overlap in many ways, a simplistic explanation of each:
Chat Moderators are responsible for overseeing the Discord and reviewing messages.
Mini Moderators handle forum content and learn how to manage accounts.
The Support team organizes events, answers emails/tickets, and helps members wherever possible.

Basic Requirements (all positions)

- Behaving in a respectful, professional, and appropriate manner. You will be representing Warrior Cats Online!

- The ability to speak openly and maturely with fellow staff members in a fast-paced environment. Participation in discussions is required.

- A team-based attitude, but operating independently when needed. You'll have to be comfortable working with all staff and members.

- Frequent access to a personal computer. We do not recommend applying if your device access is restricted or shared with others.

- Remaining active as an exemplary individual around the site. This can be welcoming others, positive engagement, roleplaying indiscriminately, and/or modeling the kindness that our community is known for.

- A Discord account that you are willing to use daily for communication purposes.

What to Know Before Applying
- You'll be writing a lot. All roles primarily consist of business writing, but the Support team also dabbles in creative writing.

- Past infractions and/or loss of privileges weigh into the decision, but this is not a disqualifier. Even if your account record isn't spotless, we'd still like to hear from you.

- Understand that being on staff can and likely will include reviewing disturbing, sexual, gory, or otherwise distasteful content.

- Many tasks require interaction with the other staff members. It sounds redundant, but we've received applications that have stated disinterest or discomfort with communicating among staff. So, yes, you'll be talking to us. Often.

- It can be time-consuming, but scheduling is fairly flexible. Many staff members successfully juggle school, work, and/or extracurriculars while still dedicating 15+ hours per week to the role.

- We use an assortment of digital tools. You should be proficient with the forums and general technology.

- Intellectual curiosity is important in every position. You are expected to learn, train, ask questions, contribute, and problem-solve.

- The responsibility of a staff member can introduce stress for a variety of reasons. Susceptibility to stress is very individualized, and you know your limitations best. Protect your health!

If any of the above is concerning, carefully consider whether you'd enjoy the role of a staff member.
