Monthly Kudos

Hey everyone!

The staff is considering bringing back part of the Monthly Kudos: Character of the Month!

In the past, it has been heavily inactive, and because of this we would prefer to not resume it if people don't plan on participating. While we did poll our Discord server, we would like to see what the community as a whole thinks.

If we did resume the Monthly Kudos feature, it would be formatted similarly to this:

Users have almost a full month to nominate the characters they think deserves recognition. Nominations must include a reason for voting for the character that goes beyond a basic compliment. (No "they're cool, the cat is nice", etc.)


Users can nominate MULTIPLE characters, but a character can only be nominated once!


Characters need to have been used within the last month of being nominated, and preferably are still active at the time of being voted for.


Two characters can be featured per month, and will be determined based on the amount of votes they receive. If a roleplayer has multiple characters with the highest number of votes, the second cat chosen would be that of a different roleplayer. Note: only nominating high ranks will be frowned upon and may result in Monthly Kudos concluding. We want cats to be voted up because they're interesting characters who deserve it, not necessarily because they're in a position of power! Give people who aren't in the spotlight all the time some love. <3


People who win Monthly Kudos will get an award and an undetermined amount of koins.


More to come potentially, it's still a WIP! Considering resetting the previous winners since that spans five years and would be almost impossible to track at this point.

Any feedback or thoughts on this is welcome as well. It's still a rough draft, things are being worked out, and ultimately we're hoping this doesn't boil down to favoritism and people not keeping an eye out for cats who might not be as well known.

I am not opposed to bringing it back
but I remember there was extreme favourtism in the past and despite trying to avoid it, I think its one of the biggest issues that... is going to be hard to avoid. People are going to vote for cats they know naturally and therefore I fear cats that may deserve it but isn't seen won't be recognized. Despite setting a focus on it, doesn't mean it will happen ):

Perhaps the form to nominate a character could include a link to a role play with that character that the person feels represents part of why they chose them. That way, it will be another deterrent against simply picking a clan leader because they are a clan leader- I feel like the extra evidence of thought makes it less enticing to pick merely the most well known character

character of the month is a monthly event (as the title suggests, lol) where you can nominate a character that isn't your own to be recognized site-wide. all of the nominations are then taken and put into a poll, where everyone can vote for who they think should be featured. the 2 characters with the most votes are then featured on a "monthly kudos" page on the navigation bar onsite. (that was how it was last time -- they may change a few things this time around jsyk (: )

it's a fun way to recognize characters who you like and think deserve some attention!

I'm not 100% sure what your first question means - are you asking where you'd nominate the character(s) you think deserve recognition?

& No, this is to recognize the characters of other people. Others might nominate your characters, but you can't nominate or vote for yourself.

If it does happen, I just hope people will sometimes choose characters that not a lot of people know about, because I know some characters like that that derserve that type of attention!

This does sound like a really good idea and there are also plenty of people with great ideas! I'm excited for this and to see which characters get the most votes, and especially who will win. I haven't been on the site long, so I don't think that any of mine will, lol. However, it would also be interesting from a different perspective to see if anybody would choose your characters, if that makes any sense.

p sure it depends on whatever ends up happening - there will most likely be a form of some sorts, so you'll probably be able to use and/or modify that. hope this helps <3

Monthly Kudos seems cool! I'd probably participate every now and then but only because i kinda would have to dig through some rp's to find someone i'd want to nominate but other then that this seems awesome!

If this is still up for discussion I would love if you brought monthly kudos back! I played alot back when monthly kudos was still a thing and it was one of my favorite parts of the roleplay! It would be so cool to see it up and running again!!!
