Tree climbing [OPEN to Riverclan Warriors/Apprentices]

Eveninglight was trained to climb trees and hunt in trees back in Skyclan. She will be teaching a group of apprentices to climb trees out in Lionsrange. This is open for all Riverclan warriors and apprentices.
This counts as a life experience for apprentices

Eveninglight stepped into the clearing and took a breath before loudly calling,” If anyone would like to learn to climb trees, come with me to Lionsrange. Anyone who would like to help with teaching is welcome to come as well.“ she added waiting for cats to gather.

Duskpaw had just gotten back from a training session with Owlflight, so she was pretty exhausted. At the call, her ears perked up and she got to her paws. What was going on? Training? Well, maybe a short session wouldn't hurt. She stretched her legs and back before going over to join the warrior. "So, what exactly are we going to do? Er, I mean in terms of exercises. I know about the climbing part. I just was wondering if there is anything that we are going to do to prepare for the actual climbing." she asked, her gaze dropping to her paws. The sooner more cats ventured over, the better. Being almost the only cat that had gathered so far, it was a tad bit awkward.

climbing??? spiderpaw had never imagined herself doing that, but it sure seemed pretty cool. walking over, she smiled, waiting for any instructions or something to give her an idea of what she was supposed to be doing. spiderpaw.. wasn't good at waiting in silence.

oo, this sounded fun! eeee! and eveninglight was teaching them? all the better! with a spring in his step, dayheart was quick to sign himself up for whatever this would entail, gathering with everyone else as he shot eveninglight a lighthearted, bright smile.

Ripplepaw perked her ears. Tree climbing??? Now that was something she'd never done before that she'd just love to try out! She wanted to be skilled in all aspects of warriorship, maybe she could find someone to train her in the arts of running and.... shadow walking? Whatever Shadowclan did. Then she could be like.... the ultimate warrior of all warriors. She could be unstoppable and just crazy famous and well-known. Wouldn't that be something!
Padding over to the rest of the group, Ripplepaw spotted Spiderpaw quite quickly. Aside from Petuniapaw... who had kinda disappeared, Ripplepaw considered Spiderpaw to be one of her only friends. She really needed to get more friends honestly.... Coastbreeze was cool too, at least from that one conversation she'd had with him. Hopefully making more friends was as easy as it had been.

"I was Thunderclan before I was Riverclan and I knew how to climb trees, but not really how to hunt in the trees. I could help teach how to climb, if you'd like."

She sat down and looked attentive, there were lots of cats here and if it was too much for Eveninglight to handle she'd leave but if there was room she'd happily stick around for awhile.

You want to grip the trees so you don’t fall down. Yes training usually means no claws, but you’ll fall if you don’t use claws, but if you are falling sheathe them so you don’t accidentally hit the person below you. When climbing you’ll want to use your hind legs to boost you higher up into the trees. Now, I’ll let one person from each group try climbing the other one spot them, you ” she meowed ready to keep an eye on them while helping Dayheart, yes she was turning a training activity into a date.

I think a tail for balance is gonna be important here unfortunately so I guess that puts me at a bit of a disadvantage, but Im gonna try anyway!" She joked gesturing to her bob tail. Getting up the silver tabby shook herself off a bit to get rid of any dust on her shiny pelt and looked around for a good tree. "You wanna be the climber first or the helper? Im fine with whatever myself!" She asked eyes honing in on a large willow (heehee) that was perfectly ridged and branchy for potential scaling.

Ripplepaw's ears flicked and she heard Eveninglight's explanation. Her nerves buzzed with excitement, and she turned towards Spiderpaw, eyes alight. "Looks like the fates have brought us to be a pair today." She giggled, before reaching out a paw to poke the feline's shoulder lightly. "Last one to that tree has to spot first!" She yowled, pointing to the aforementioned tree with her tail before turning and making a break for the tall willow.

Although Frozenpaw didn't feel like training (never did, these days), their ears perked at Eveninglight's proposition and listened.. Climbing trees did sound like a good life skill that'd serve them well. They'd like to know how to do that. Really, they would.

But they were already intimidated by the amount of apprentices planning to attend the session and--

full stop. Lionsrange. Lionsrange. Lionsrange was where they'd be doing this. They couldn't go back there, they wouldn't, they never wanted to.

Frozenpaw supposed tree climbing probably wasn't a NECESSARY skill. Probably would never come in handy. Probably wouldn't use it again.

They retreated away from the group to be with their thoughts.

The molly begged to Starclan that tree climbing was similar to pulling themselves out of the water. With the knowledge that tree branches can snap plus bark peeling off, she would have to be on stand by for falling cats. She caught many birds before but never cats. They were Riverclan not Falling out of the sky now please save me clan. “It would be nice to have some tips for climbing.” she nodded as she went to see where she would be put.

She carefully slid down the trunk, flinching and almost falling in a few places, but managed to get down safely. She stepped back and looked at the other apprentice, waiting for her attempt.

The view was incredible! She would have to do this WAY more often! Taking another moment to gaze about, she turned, and began to retreat from the tree tail first, like Lizardpaw. After a few minutes, it was much quicker coming down, she reached the ground, and danced in an excited circle. It's so cool up there! I can see.....lots of stuff!

The view was incredible! She would have to do this WAY more often! Taking another moment to gaze about, she turned, and began to retreat from the tree tail first, like Lizardpaw. After a few minutes, it was much quicker coming down, she reached the ground, and danced in an excited circle. It's so cool up there! I can see.....lots of stuff!

Cricketchirp started towards Dayheart and Rainsplash. He had only ever climbed trees as a kit and as an adult there wasn't any point or reason to. Maybe.... it would be useful now?

"I'm not sure. Perhaps I should try again too." replied Lizardpaw. She gave herself a bit of a running start challenge, quickly grabbing onto the bark and shooting upwards. Carefully she climbed up, until she reached the highest point. The height was a bit nausiating but she kept a steady hold. She carefully climbed downwards, landing swiftly.

Alright! Splashleap would mew, bouncing forward again and digging her claws into the trunk. Giving a powerful push with her hind legs as Eveninglight had instructed, she reached the first large branch much more quickly. After a quick breather, she continued up, pausing for longer on the second major branch to look around and adjust to the height. It worked alright, and she was able to continue to the next branch, pushing her way up with her hind legs. This was REALLY helpful! Pausing only briefly at the top before lowering herself down again, back legs first, she soon reached the ground, and stood, panting beside her sister. ~RooRoo~

Never being a riverclan apprentince but is this really what they did the first time they climbed up a tree. He shook his head as much as he loved riverclan for echo’s memory being here. Nothing could replace being a thunderclan then shadowclan apprentince.

Ripplepaw had gotten a good head start, and she simply let out a laugh at Spiderpaw's words which disappeared in the rush of wind behind her. She was making a straight line, heading fast for the tree, but she didn't expect to be slowed down by someone suddenly grabbing her tail. She was pulled to an abrupt stop, tripping over her own paws and landing face first in the dirt below. Lifting her head and spitting out dirt, Ripplepaw narrowed her eyes at Spiderpaw's figure getting closer and closer to the tree. "HEY!" She yowled, clearly upset. Getting to her paws, Ripplepaw raced after Spiderpaw, knowing she wasn't going to get there in time to win. But who cared about that anymore? Spiderpaw was getting pushed to the ground as repayment for her mistake. How rude.
